can't wait for d2 remake. d3 didnt live up to the expectations smh.
Compare Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 search terms at Google trends. Then tell me if D3 seems dead to you.
They love D2 so much that instead of playing it themselves they just watch a few others play it, how boring. That is not an indication of the actual player base, some streamers just have a cult following. Nice try troll.
D2 only has big viewers when a couple of people stream it, and those streamers get pretty big view numbers regardless of what they stream. Right now d3 has 2600 views and d2 has 125, much less than donkey Kong country 3
Not being watched on Twitch or whatever =/= dead game.

I know several sites dedicated to players of the game Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight. Game has almost no results on google trends. Very active playerbase over 20 years later. I doubt it is near the top of the charts on Twitch.

Twitch results mean very little. It's the actual playerbase that matters.
It's not dead as long as I'm playing it.
Diablo games will never go completely "dead" as long as there are players who enjoy it and commit their time to playing it. D2 is still going strong even though it's nearly hitting double decades. Diablo 3 will most likely continue further even when Diablo 4 comes out.

As the last D3 patch showed, there are still developers making minor quality of life improvements even if it isn't everything the community wants. Then again, who gets everything they want anyways?
But forums seem much alive.

Also if you check now, D3 currently has +3x the viewers of D2 LoD. Picking and choosing data points... bad.

If I could muster up an ounce of GaF, I might care about what people are watching on Twitch. Never cared and never will.

I will never change how I play or perceive the game based off of some current viewer numbers on a social media platform.

Agreed. Twitch statistics have absolutely no bearing on whether I enjoy a video game or not, and I really can't understand why they would for anyone else.
D3 is a dissapointment for me. Just playing till the next game.
Nice logic OP.. more people play WOW than watch it, is it a dead game?
'Dead game'

?!

translates in: another bored troll
That tells a lot lol.Whoever watch poeple playing this easy boring trash grinding 10 hours a day to win game on twitch must have a sad life lol.D2 LOD is still 10000000000000000 times better than this flop even if its 10 ish years older.

D2 LOD is still 10000000000000000 times better than this flop even if its 10 ish years older.

So go play it and stop trolling the D3 forums.
Can anyone identify where the screen shots posted in the OP come from? I don't watch games, I play them, so I don't know off-hand where the source is for those.

When he posted this same claim the other day, the first thing I looked at was Twitch were D3 has over 4x the number of followers and just over 10x the number of viewers compared to D2.

D2: https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Diablo%20II%3A%20Lord%20of%20Destruction
D3: https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Diablo%20III%3A%20Reaper%20of%20Souls

The game thumbnail in the images in the OP and the game-type tags look similar to what I see on Twitch, but the layout is very different. Also, being screen shots there is no indication of when they were taken. An "event" happening in one game could skew the statistics.

All I know is that the couple of times I've looked at the numbers on Twitch since the OP made their claims, the numbers were always skewed heavily in favor of D3.

And, in the end, I don't care about those numbers - I play what I like - it's just that this goes beyond trolling a cherry-picked fact and gets into the realm of appearing to be an outright lie.

Given the cropping it was done to hide the fact it wasn't the same time frame.
