What skill would you like to see have more support? Is there one with a great fantasy/flavor you like, but doesn't have much power behind it?

The dead cheating mechanism of necromancer. Necromancer is the master of dead, he should have a great control over dead and life. Right now his dead cheat is weaker than other class. In some build, e.d. rathma mage the dead cheating mechanism is hurting the build itself.

Necromancer toughness is also very lacking. I suggest to make it intended, but add dead cheat item to make necromancer play smoother.

Is there a class fantasy you feel isn't very fulfilled right now? Something you really want to be able to do with a class, but just isn't possible?

would want the necromancer be able to transform into Grim reaper and reap life from enemies.

Combining the two I would suggest to have item that provide cheat dead mechanism and allow us to transform into grim reaper when triggered. While transform into grim reaper, killing enemies with grim scythe and draining life with each hit, if you drain enough life you will be able to cheat dead and the cooldown of the skill is reset.

First, I am glad to see you're trying to improve your communication with us, keep it up!

I will put my list as well, only on the classes I play.

Wizard:

- Cold skills: It's sad to see that no cold builds is viable with wizz. I would love to see a set or something to make a permafrost wizzard come back. The only one viable RN is Frozen orb. Blizzard/Ray of Frost are lame right now. I think we pass over a very intersting build over there.

- Blizzard: It's one my favorite skill. I remember playing it on RoS with Firebird a long time ago, with my Furnace. I love the idea to make my enemies melt with it. Or frozen. (See cold skill before.)
The skill does'nt have any supporting legendaries with it, which makes it unplayable right now. I would love to see a DoT mechanic come black with Wizz! Make it viable!

-Hydra: Same here, it's all about nostalgia. Double hydra with serpentsparker was lit! I would really love to see this come back. Buff Serpent sparker, and make another useless legendary shine: The magistrate helmet. It's really useless, it needs a revamp! Because frost builds again, frost nova is useless RN.

-Electrocution: It has a lot of supporting legendaries, but not enough damage to be efficient for farming. And Manald does'nt really help it, it's too RNG for procs.
But the skill feels really good! Like Palpatine in Star wars, overwhelming with arrogant power. Buff Velvet camaret/Mykhen's and adding a proc for make it viable can solve it. It's a real simple gameplay, but really cool to see.

-Wave of destruction: Yes, we have chantodo for this, I know. But the idea to see a viable build with WoH with mass detonation seduces me. A lot! It's only a support skill for SP Wizz now, but it has some potential.

(I restrict my self to 5 skill per class, or I will never finish...)

Witch Doctor:

The global issue I have with WD is about how I DPS. It's always Pet or DoTs. And another thing, the toughness on WD is all about sacred harverster. We need other possibilites, soul harvest is mandatory. Also, Helltooth is too bad RN. It should be about casting spells, not pets. (Already have Zuni)

-Acid cloud / Zombie charge / Grasp of death:
Even if we have some support legendaries for this, it feels to weak. Those skills are all really fun to play, since we cast it ourselves. They feel good, fun to play, but... not enough efficient.

-Sacrifice:
One of my fav skill. Do you remember the perma-boom from Vanilla? It was so fun to play! I would love to see a build where we burst with some explosive doggos. Send them in the pack, then BOOM. Make it happen! It's incredibly fun to play!

-Explosive frogs:
Same, all about nostalgia here. Another primary skill build, but it was kinda fun. Putting Rhen'ho and see those frogs explodes two times was lit. Making it more powerful can be great! It feels hilarious cause frogs exploding two time is stupid, but so hilarious.

-Spiders:
WD has some spiders, but they were never useful. I feel it's sad, cause WD really fits with the spider theme. We have a legendary Ceremonial knife, a Gigantic spider... But it don't work. I think it can be fun to see all this spiders around!

Demon hunter:

Element Arrow/Chakram: I put them together cause it has been suggested on the DH thread here. They need to be considered as generators with Krider/Chakram quiver. They are simple to play, but fun. They are useless, cause Multishot does the job.
Electric elemental arrow was a fun build, as chakram build. The solution is so simple, it can change everything: Generators with Krider/Chakram quiver tweaked + damage; work with the belt and the simplicity force gem.
Highly requested by DH players, make it happen please!

Hungering Arrow: One of my favorite skill. Even from Vanilla. See this arrow split and piercing enemies is really cool, feeling powerful. But it's... bad actually. The DPS is far too low.
Give some love to this Buriza and the Quiver, even with the Etrayu. It can be great, really! Seeing multiple arrows piercing and doing more damage after piercing everywhere is lit!

Rain of Vengeance: Well... It's not so bad. But it's more supportive build than anything now. It's used to proc Nat6 buff, and that's all. It look powerful, it's not. I love the rain of arrows or grenades, it should be powerful, like a huge burst!
The RoV belt is meh, and the damage is too low.
Nat6 gameplay is one of my favorite, it feels good. Strafing for make RoV available, and then, BOOM. But now it's not BOOM, it's just *Pew pew*. Making it a burst and a real damage option sounds good!

Strafe: I love the feeling about this skill. Like going matrix and shoot everything around. Really fun for speedfarming rift, not really for GR.
It feels not enough powerful, even with the two crossbows available.

Passive: Ballistics: Firing some rockets is cool! They are visually great, beautiful... But they don't feel deadly. Making a legendary as the grenadier belt could be cool, we have many skills with rockets!

I think that's all I have in mind now, for 3 class... I don't won't to make a page long post. Glad to add my stone to the constructi

Keep it up Blizz! We are on a good way! :)

It seems there's now quite a good expansion topic in the general discussion as PTR isn't eternal.

...flame. Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling,
Do you feel my heart beating
Do you understand?
Do you feel the same
Am I only dreaming
Is this Blizzard --- buffing unused skills?

So, it's unlikely at this stage we're going to make any additional new changes between PTR and Live. We need time to tie down, thoroughly test, and fire off our release client build to make sure everything's gravy before launch.

However, I really love this topic because it gives insight as to what skills you guys feel need more love. I can't promise exact changes in the future, but I'd really like to see conversation in here progress and evolve.

  • What skill would you like to see have more support? Is there one with a great fantasy/flavor you like, but doesn't have much power behind it?
  • Is there a class fantasy you feel isn't very fulfilled right now? Something you really want to be able to do with a class, but just isn't possible?

Thanks for being open with your opinions and thoughts on this. <3 Just remember to keep it constructive and on-topic. I'm not afraid to enforce either of those things. ;)

I love monks but there somethings you should check;
-Shenlong set mechanics is a pity, not funny at all.
-Seven sided strike needs to stands on its own, not as a complement of explosive palm
-Raiment of thousand storm should be able to dualize between a soft single target damage dealer and a more tanky AOE agro controller.
- Tempest rush needs TONS of love, the actual cold "bomb" build is funny but need something more for long battles, also could be interesting see a build wich allow us to put together mobs with this skill.
- Some defensive skills (serenity, inner sanctuary and some of the mantras) need a revamp, they have no use at all at this moment.
Thanks for reading!! ^_^

I think ultimate transform abilities are just mandatory right now. Can't you add a new legendary power to reduce damage when under control impairment effects?
May be to Mempo of Twilight; just so it can be an alternative to Andariel's at LoN builds? I know Impale and Starpact wouldn't be unaffected from such change afterall but I believe LoN FoK DH, Witch Docs and Necros would love it. That would also open the way of Death's Bargain and Shimizu based LoN builds.

It's also certain that some invulnerability frame based skills are abandoned for the sake of mobility skills. So that made players actually more fragile against instantaneous attacks. I suggest underused invulnerability skillrunes to benefit from thorns and some mobility skills to grant buffs for block benefits. For example, I'd like some cooldown reduction, replenishing Neph Glory timer or fast forward time-based charges when my character blocked a hit with that buff active.
Yet, I know that would make Crusaders overpowered so I want this to be embed at certain underused invulnerability or mobility skillrunes of Monk, DH and WDocs. That would greatly help zdps builds and encourage diversity.

At another call, I want dodge to be more available to Demon Hunters. Currently they have no way of dodge, which actually don't make sense to me. Their passives currently not so good and I'd like to see some tweaks to their passives as well.
In a DH PTR thread, I suggested Brooding to grant some dodge chance as their health going lower and Hot Pursuit to replenish Hatred on dodge. That would make me happy. A dodgy Demon Hunter just shrugging hits and being an elusive nightmare.

As for DH specs, I think Spike Trap is a bit underwhelming for DHs. N6 and LoN are doable with Leonine and Helltrapper but not the best options or on par with other alternatives at all. I was expecting 2k% weapon damage Spike Trap procs to be a bit more chunk to it at the terms of bursts. ORotZ feeling slow to recover a cooldown with Strafe and without Sharpshooter (Custom Trigger allows you to wait for it only), Spike Traps don't worth it.
Another take is about Chakram; add overall damage increase per current Hatred to Spines of Seething Hatred quiver? So it'd allow DH to chain Chakram with FoK or Spike Traps if possible.

Onto Witch Doc specs, I think Sacrifice need to worth taking with Grasp of the Dead on Helltooth. Losing a piece from any Helltooth for Tasker and Theo, or Swampland require players to equip RoRG somewhere and pet damage simply does better than Sacrifice currently. Up the Death is Life rune's Zombie Dog spawn rates or embed skill damage boost into the Wilken's Reach so they can equip Homunculus?
Also I think Acid Cloud need more possibilities by embedding Acid Cloud skill damage boost into Suwong's legendary power. So build can cube Suwong and equip Wormwood for a small boost up with 25% poison skill damage overall or just go for the Locust Swarm related items.

Onto Barbarian specs, I know Whirlwind is underperforming right now and Weapon Throw is suffering besides Boulder Toss as well. I suggest unused mighty weapons or Fjord Cutter to help Frenzy specs to get over that problem. A Frenzy spec can tie with Whirlwind and Weapon Throw specs I believe. May be a guaranteed critical hitting skill for WotW barbs would string them towards BP with Pain Enhancer?
Again with Barbarians, I still think they're not the class I played back in Diablo 2. Would you consider giving their passive Weapons Master the ability of dual wielding a 2-handed Mighty Weapons with a 1-handed weapon at the cost of damage penalty just like Crusader's Heavenly Strength? Original Bul-Kathos' Set was consist of one 2-h and a 1-h, not two 1-handed weapons.

Lastly, I think damage multipliers are WAY abundant right now among legendary items, so please consider bonuses at the form of the following; increased specific skills crit% rating, add synergies with more secondary affixes or at least specific skillrunes seeing reduced cost or cooldown cuts.
Also if players can benefit from hitting/killing certain enemy types that would help diminishing bad randomization at Greater Rifts.

If you keep adding more and more straight damage multipliers you'd be only going no where. You need to branch away from straight damage multipliers after this hour and let players hybrid and fuse specs on their own for the sake of utility. If you keep damage buffing everything people will think they can faceroll everything by spamming one skill, and will whine when they can not.
I tend to think stacking blizzards wouldn’t be exciting. No aiming really. I prefer it to act as a giant buff / debuff/ cc source. Give it a 15 second cool down, but a real hard freeze capability. Wizards used to be able to freeze stuff. Necromancers make wizards look like a joke when it comes to freezing. Seems reasonable to me that a blizzard should freeze...

Lighting blizzard? 15% chance to chain lighting enemies with 15% of the dmg dealt within its’ AoE?

Fire Blizzard (apocalypse) Enemies have their armor reduced by 10% for each second they burn? I want to cast apocalypse and see all wail in terror as they burn. Shed their armor to escape the flames of their end. Then I want to hit them with an Arcane orb (scorch) that actually blows them to the hell from which they came. A giant blazing hydra should be in there.

Each enemy ignited by the hydra increases the burn dmg by 5%.

And give us the Incinerator! I know you’ve already made a version of it. I saw it in the items database on the d3planner site! Quit holding out on us! I want to burn demons!

One fantasy that is really lacking in the game is the fantasy of a Wizard who specializes in one element – aka an Elemental Specialist. The only set that revolves around this fantasy is Firebird and when we are honest, the Firebird set does not really lead to the most pleasant playstyle.

I doubt that you want to create completely new sets for each element, but what about redesigning one of the current sets to be a set that gives you offensive and defensive bonuses for every skill of the same element that is on your skill-bar?

For example:
  • For each lightning skill you have on your skill-bar, you gain x.xxx% increased lightning damage. For each frost skill on your skill-bar you gain x.xxx% increased frost damage. Same for fire and arcane.
  • When you have at least 4 skills of the same element on you skill-bar, you gain xx% damage reduction.
  • ... or something like that.

    ================================================

Another thing that needs to be addressed imo is the skill Land of the Dead and the playstyles that result from it, aka running around for a minute, doing nothing and then having a 10 second window in which you nuke everything, which is not a too fun way to play Necro.

Since this skill also leads to balancing issues, I think it might be a good idea to redesign it, if you already intent to work on some things.

I don't really know what you could do in order to fix this skill (except completely removing it), but an idea might be to replace it with a similar skill that has a lower cooldown, but that only spawns a limited amount of corpses, for example something like a Rain of Corpses skill, which would cause xx corpses to rain down that you then can use, which would have something like 20 or 30 second cooldown. Or something similar.

    ================================================

Besides that, the Demon Hunter skill Elemental Arrow could use higher and/or more damage multipliers on legendaries to be more competitive with other skills.

And while on the topic of Elemental Arrow, there is indeed something that I always wanted to do that is not possible anymore: I always wanted to make a DH that uses the skill Molten Arrow that you showed while D3 was still in development, but you removed that skill for some reason. I was pretty excited about it.

There still is footage from Molten Arrow:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvDPzs14Xmo

There also was a skill in Diablo 2 for the Amazon called 'Lightning Fury', which one of the most popular and fun builds in D2 revolved around, and I was always wondering why you did not bring it back in D3 as a rune for Elemental Arrow. It would really fit.

For Crusader, definitely Phalanx. There's a certain "leader of an army" fantasy that the Phalanx has with the bowmen and Baleful Remnant flail.

I feel the phalanx items are there, just needs some damage% love.
    https://eu.diablo3.com/en/item/eternal-union-Unique_Ring_007_p1
    https://eu.diablo3.com/en/item/warhelm-of-kassar-P4_Unique_Helm_102
    https://eu.diablo3.com/en/item/unrelenting-phalanx-P1_CruShield_norm_unique_02
    https://eu.diablo3.com/en/item/baleful-remnant-Unique_Flail_2H_102_x1

I was able to place pretty high on the crusader hc ladder way back in s1 with the Phalanx - Stampede "horse spam" skill. But condemn was buffed not too long after that, and Phalanx horses were never relevant again.

Also if https://us.diablo3.com/en/item/flail-of-the-charge-P4_Unique_Flail_2H_Set_01_x1 (set bonus) could get buffed just a little, and +thorns as a default, it would go a long ways towards being of some value. I had a crit thorns build going that worked off of Steed Charge - Spiked Barding. Its a very hard build to obtain ancient + correct rolls + thorns in every slot that thorns can roll, especially this Flail. It was nearly capable of T12 farming. But after 2.6.4 buffed all the sets, it just wasn't worth building towards anymore.

And while you're listening, at one point in D3's past long ago, Shield Bash was the hardest hitting single target ability in the game. Any chance of that returning, to make Crusader a viable RGK in group meta? Or at least adding a +damage component to https://us.diablo3.com/en/artisan/blacksmith/recipe/piro-marella ?
    Hi...

At first...this is the right way of communication Nevalistis, pls more of this. And if you will push the intensity of communication or better the feeling of the community, why not let them be a part of the futur content or changes...
For example...after this patch start in the forum an program ( for 1 or 2 weeks) where every RoS player can invite by game password. There can every one get his vote for every charakter, which skill need an rework or balance change. And after the 1 or 2 weeks the highest vote skills (1, 2 or 3 per charackter) is chosen and announced...step 1.

In the next 1/2 weeks the next programm, while every one can invite to vote (or maybe gives suggestions) for the items to change for...however your specification wish...step 2.
    For example:
    Rimeheart
    Vote for -
    - dmg increase
    - increase chance to activate procc
    - interaction to increase an offensive stat and what stat ____!
    - debuff enemies for cold dmg
    - interaction with skill and what skill _____!
    ...and so on.

    Implementation...step 3.

This kind of communication will cost some time but will be the king -.•

And now my 2 cents for some changes.

    Wizard:
I love to play the mage but as a fan of this charakter i will say...pls stop the archon-starpact interaction because its too strong! It capped the 3/4 group damage dealer potential of other charackters too much.

    Blizzard
Valtheks Rebuke - Each enemy hit by Energy twister increase the damage from Blizzard by 125 - 150 % for 12 seconds, while blizzard attracts your Energy twisters to the core.
    (Stacks 10 times)

    Mirror Image
I would love to see mirror image in the vyrs set while winning 2 steps in one way. Step 1, it gives the skill an using way to play and step 2, your skill bar while in archon form has a sense.
    Vyrs set -
    2 setbonus:
Archon get the effect of every rune and you can now activate mirror image (for 15 arcan per second) in archon form. (10 sec cooldown)
    4 setbonus:
Mirror image get the effect of every rune and your archon attacks have a 25 % chance per Image to spell one of your skilled recource spenders.
    6 setbonus:
While in Archon form your damage is increase by 10.000 % and reduce your damage taken by 60 %.

    Chantodos set:
    2 setbonus:
    - Each active mirror image you call increase your cooldown reduction by 10 % for its duration.
    - Each mirror image which are killed or disappears after call, reduce your active cooldowns by 5 seconds.
(This should open ways to play Mirror image outside of archon too)

    Fazulas Improbable Chain:
Each active Mirror image increase your attackspeed by 15 - 25 %.
(Gives a chance to play manald heal outside of archon too)

    The Swami:
Increase the bonus from the rune Mirror Mimics to 40 - 50 % and the damage from the rune Mocking Demise to 50.000 % weapon damage.

    Demon Hunter:
I love this class very much and the sets have more or less a good balance to each other :)
But I think the shadow set has a good part and a bad part inside....the good thing is the 2 set bonus because it limited the using skills very good...and the bad part is the 6 set bonus because it limited the skills to use to only ONE skill and this is no good design in my opinion! And i think the skill Spike trap is currently useless and would be a nice option for shadow set.

    Shadow set:
    2 set bonus:
While using a melee weapon detonated Spike traps splitt into 2 new traps and doubles the amount of traps you can have.
    4 set bonus:
Shadow power get the effect of every rune and last forever.
    6 set bonus:
Each explotion of Spike trap increase your damage by 1.200 % for 2 seconds.
(Lay a trap and use a ressource spender/generator, have an explotion and 2 traps...then shoot and have 4 trap up to max 10 traps...in 2 seconds you should have 20 explotions by + 2 attack per seconds)

    Trag'oul coils:
Spike trap gain the effect of the rune Scatter for 200 - 250 % increased damage.

    Calamity:
What the hell have you thought by redesign this one in 2.4.1 xD ...absolutly useless now!
While Rain of Venegance is active your damage is increase by 80 - 120 %!

    Mfg...
Crusader's Phalanx items strongly needs some tuning.

I've mentioned it in a few other threads.
I'd love to see a viable Phalanx build.
I've done a few of them with the Akkhan set in the early season before I find the sword and shield for Condemn. It's so much damned fun, but it falls off very quickly because of the low multipliers.
What I've done is use all the Phalanx items with the Akkhan 6 piece, and you basically walk around the screen murdering everything with an army of phalanx avatars that replenishes when you kill stuff. Getting the initial kill is sometimes challenging, depending on the build. I usually go with archer Phalanx to get the party going. It plays much like a Resurrection necro from D2.
Still, A ton of fun. The LoN buff doesn't quite work for this build. The toughness just isn't there, nor are the base damage multipliers from the items.

Please take a serious look at buffing the damage multipliers for the Phalanx items.
    @Cratic
For the love of all things: change one of the lesser used arcane runes on disintegrate to a Lightning rune, so we can use non-archon form Manald Heal with Disintegrate.

The perfect rune for that would be Chaos Nexus, which is rune that causes you to discharge energy at nearby enemies while channelling. These energy discharges already look like small lasers and changing them to lightnings would perfectly fit imo.

And while we are on the topic of Disintegrate, plz add Disintegrate to the DMO set.

Remove the arcane power cost of Wizard armor skills please, increase the duration to at least 15 minutes. This way we don't have to recast within a GR in the least.

I think it would be cool if the Wizards conjuring skills would have an active effect and a passive effect, very much like the Crusaders laws, just without the AoE aura. I think the devs said a few years ago that they actually wanted to do exactly that, but to this day they have not done it.

I'm not afraid to enforce either of those things. ;)

Barb I want to see a Boulder Toss LoN build. Maybe some supportive legendaries that make it viable (something that tosses multiple Boulders?)

For Crusader it's gotta be Fist of the Heavens. That skill needs a ton of love. I love that skill them. No set necessary, just some Legendary buffs/additions.

The defence of necromancer is lacking, it is very easy for necromancer to die outside of land of the dead frozen effect.

Necromancer suppose to be the master of dead and life. I would like to see he can have power to mess with it.

e.g. No longer benefit from life on hit and life regeneration, but gain armor.
    Blood cost heal you instead.
Converting reusable parts in cube need slightly wide step. For example x500. Cause converting every item in to required part x100 is very long and ineffective process.
So, let's see. I will choose two skills from each class that needs buffing. I wrote the OP after 4 hours of sleep at 5am when my cat decided I have slept enough already.

  • Barbarian
  • Barbarian has most skills that have been left behind such as Revenge, Overpower etc.
    FRENZY
Simply very fun skill but Oathkeeper and such need serious buffing.
    ANCIENT SPEAR
I was forced to get rid of this build when Seismic Slam became the thing.

  • Crusader
  • Easiest one. There are two skills that really are lacking. Also, They say Fist of the Heavens needs a buff! Not familiar it by myself.
    PHALANX
Already has great legendary items but not enough power.
    HEAVEN'S FURY
I want to use the normal version of this skill. And I am using them, just underpowered.

  • Demon Hunter
  • My main. I would love it to have on build with a low attack speed bow with huge damage. But when it comes to skills that need buffing:
    ELEMENTAL ARROW
The coolest skill without any real use. Needs power so we can have an Amazon nostalgy shot.
    SPIKE TRAPS, CALTROPS, BOLAS etc
Make a proper trap build to differ the current gameplay. There's no Assassin.

  • Monk
  • Monk has quite a good situation
    Tempest Rush
Is lacking damage to make a build out of it.
    Deadly Reach
I want to use Deadly Reach with Uliana and Mystic Rhythm but could it reach from a greater distance? Add a few yards to its reach.

  • Necromancer
  • People were disappointed in the lack of pet builds.
    REVIVE
Easily one the coolest skills of the Necro. Let this be greater.
    ARMY OF THE DEAD
I really like the aesthetics of this skill, hoping it to do proper damage.

  • Witch Doctor
  • Has great assets so there's more than 2 skills to buff to. (Like Acid Cloud and such)
    BOGADILE (Piranhas)
Criminally underpowered considering how awesome the skill is.
    TOAD OF HUGENESS (Hex)
I want to use this with endgame builds. It's cool.

  • Wizard
  • Oh how I hated the times when Archon was the only viable build. Luckily then came 2.6.1. With Wizard, I love most the traditional Sorceress skills but one can't unsee the two flaws in the skill balance:
    MIRROR IMAGE
Currently has no use and that's a shame
    BLIZZARD
Currently has no use and that's a shame

Thank you. Looking forward the next patches! What I like in this renewed communication was the words "This was not our last patch". After 2.6.1, we had to think so for a whole year.

Imo, every weapon and offhand that adds an effect to a skill should also increase its damage, as a legendary affix multiplier.

There are so many items giving skills fun variations but they cant be used because of lacking damage.
    WD Acid cloud:
They really need to give SuWong Diviner the 2.6.1 treatment. Give it a 1000% damage amplifier and make the power extractable in the cube.

That's literally all they need to do to make an entire build work again.

Barbarian needs a ton of work but mostly the weapons need to have their power extractable in the cube, the Blade of the Tribes needs its 200% cubed, which is a smol multiplier anyway look at crusaders 2x 800% damage for condemn with the swords power 100% perfectly extracted by the cube. We could then have a LoN earthquake build with the blade of the tribes in the cube since you 100% cannot have a lon build with a 2handed weapon because you need 13/13 slots for the damage and toughness. Two handed weapons are really terrible in D3
