Ancient Vault

General Discussion
So first thing I did was run an Ancient puzzle ring. It opened an "ancient vault". Soon as I enter the vault there are at least 6 maybe 8 goblins. Opened that round door and there 6 to 8 more, including Snitchly. Down the hill was another group of 6 to 8 then a group of 8 to 10 at the bottom. After salvage and selling I got just under 582,000,000 gold.
Thank you. I didn't even realize that Patch 2.6.5 had been deployed yet. (Downloading now).
Much appreciated the added Ancient Vault, always a pleasure to interrupt a treasure demon party. Correct me if I'm wrong though, by definition an Ancient Vault should yield all ancient drops. Maybe that's asking too much. Thanks anyway.
Nice necro...

And yes, that's probably asking too much. I imagine that the drop-rates are hard-wired into each difficulty lvl, so changing that for specific areas (such as the vault) would probably require more work. Also, drop rates are high enough as it is, we don't need even more.

The way I see it: An Ancient item is (supposedly) a better version of a Legendary item. So, an Ancient Vault is merely a better version of Greed's Realm (The Vault + Inner Sanctuary).

I've run many Vaults using Puzzle Rings. But, since Ancient Vaults have been deployed I've only found about 3 Ancient Puzzle Rings. I'm still holding on to two of them.

Currently, I've only run one Ancient Vault. And even though it seemed to have a few more Goblins, I did not notice much of a difference in Gold and Gem drops. I was not impressed.

But hey... use 'em if ya find 'em, right?
I gotta say, and this could just be tin foil hat/standard deviations, but before the patch, I would get ancient puzzle rings all the time, I honestly couldn't use them fast enough. Even had a few primal puzzle rings. Yet after the patch, I swear ancient puzzle rings might be the rarest item in the game now. Who knows...

Definitely tin foiling. I've had a decent amount drop this season. 2 primals even. More than 1:10 so the odds have been in my favour so far.

Good old RNGeezus at work as usual.

Don't we all at times? I still think the 60% gem upgrade chance is lying to me every time it fails 5x in a row. Even if it gave me 5 upgrades last rift. :P

1. Why are you selling anything, salvage or keep (You should never be selling anything).
2. Who cares gold is worthless.

What was the point of this thread exactly?

2. Who cares gold is worthless.

I'm guessing you don't empower a lot of high level GRs then.

I empower every single GR i do, there is no way you can expend all the gold you earn unless you are doing 120+ rifts.

I empower every single GR i do, there is no way you can expend all the gold you earn unless you are doing 120+ rifts.

Let's take a look at that.

Running a GR100...
Cost to Empower - 82,000,000 gold
Hand-in Reward - 27,631,590 gold
Net cost - 54,368,410 gold

Okay, if you're running GR100s, that means you're unlikely to be running your Nephalem Rifts at anything other than T16. In a T16 NR, you are guaranteed to get 3 GR keys, with a 50% chance of a 4th. So, if you do 4 T16 NRs, on average, you'll end up with 14 GR keys.

Now then, from a post I made a couple of days ago...

As a test, I ran a T16 Nephalem Rift with a rank 50 Boon of the Hoarder equipped.

Before the run, I had...
312,062,716,929 XP
105,827,275,707 Gold

After the run, I had...
317,671,241,538 XP
105,876,823,370 Gold

That's a gain of...
5,608,524,609 XP
49,547,663 Gold

4 T16 NRs with a Boon of the Hoarder would get me...
49,547,663 * 4 = 198,190,652 gold and 14 GR keys

14 GR100s (using the keys from the 4 T16 NRs) would cost me...
54,368,410 * 14 = 761,157,740 gold

That's a shortfall of
761,157,740 - 198,190,652 = 562,967,088 gold

So, you have a shortfall of over half a billion gold, running T16 NRs (with a Boon of the Hoarder equipped) and empowering the GR100s that the keys obtained in the NRs enable you to run.

Short version: you would run out of gold whilst empowering at a much lower GR level than you're claiming to.
i once got 976,000,000 gold from goblin glitch
