I will love to play PvP and PvE.

For PvE i will create a WD that uses summons to absorb enemy damage and use powerfull spells to dispatch every pesky creature. And i think i will use a gear that focus on increasing attack and energy, to maximize damage. With summons to tank, i will practicaly don´t get hurt a lot.

For PvP... well, i need to play a lot to think what i will do. Because i don´t think that summons will be of a big help, because the other player will focus on my character and not my summons...

These links aren't working for me. They work for all the other classes but these ones aren't there.
haven't seen as much of this class as the others but the abilities appear to be a little on the different side in terms of use, less direct and more collateral damage ensuing
for me neither
gonna be a great class imo.

  • I think there might be a typo in these links! /animations/witch-male.swf and witch-female.swf worked for me though.

cant wait to test the WD out, /pray for beta key

I plan on going summonless for pvp, opting for dd, couple dots and CC over having pets. Though i do think the tanking aspect might be cool, combining the 20% increased vitality, 30% mana to health and 15% damage bonus from health pool may lead to an interesting straight vitality spec.

I'm going to try some wacky builds at first as well. Not so much that they're wacky, I suppose, but that they likely will not be the first thing everyone tries, ;).

I think that's one of the biggest draws for me to the WD class. It just seems like there will be so many wild builds to try out with crazy combinations. I'll definitely play the other four classes, but they seem like they're more cookie-cutter, other than maybe the Wizard.

I wonder if you can do builds that focus solely on the WD's own abilities instead of the pets. I think the only pets I like right now are the hell dogs.

I wouldn't mind beefing those up to where they are nearly permanent and then just making my WD so massive damage with like firebomb and soul harvest.

You sure can! I'm interested to see what some people work up.

Yeah I'm thinking a build with a couple passive skills like Quickening and Rituals to buff your spells combined with Soul Harvest for even more added damage, and then your preferential aoe damage spells like Firebats and/or Acid Cloud, and a targeted spell thrown in there like Firebomb or Spirit Barrage.

I'm assuming that the WD won't have as much raw damage capability as a Wizard, but you never know.
In all honesty, this will be my first class simply because 1) It's my genre (was married on Halloween) and 2) Nobody seems to want to be the Witch Doctor, which is probably the biggest draw :)
Ok, they definately changed the Passives around since Sixen last updated.

Circle of Life (level 10): Gain 10% of your max mana whenever you are healed by a health globe.

Vermin (level 10): Your Plague of Toads, Corpse Spiders, and Firebats abilities do 20% more damage.

Spiritual Attunement (level 13): Max mana is increased by 20%. Regenerate 1% of your max mana per second.

Gruesome Feast (level 15): Gain 10% attack for 10 seconds whenever you are healed by a health globe. This effect can stack up to 5 times.

Blood Ritual (level 17): 50% of mana costs are paid with life. In addition, you regen1% of your max life per second.

Zombie Handler (level 19): You can have 4 Z-dogs our at once. The health of your Z-dogs and Gargantuan is increased by 60%.

Pierce the Veil (level 20): All of your damage is increased by 20%, but your mana costs are increased by 30%.

Rush of Essence (level 23): Spirit spells return 125% of their mana cost over 10 seconds. Spirit spells are: Haunt, Horrify, Soul Harvest, Spirit Barrage, Spirit Walk.

Vision Quest (level 25): Anytime you have 4 or moreskills on cooldown your mana regen is increased by 100%.

Fierce Loyalty (level 26): All your pets gain 100% of the benefit of your thorns items.

Death Trance (level 28): Reduce damage by 20% whenever you are below 50% of your max life.

Tribal Rites (level 30): The cooldowns of your Fetish Army, Big Bad Voodoo, and Hex abilities are reduced by 25%.

Also, Big Bad Voodoo (level 25) is as follows: Summon a fetish to begin a ritual dance that increases the attack, casting, and movement speeds of all allies in the area by 15% for 20 seconds. 2 minute cooldown (base).
Very awesome info Safiyr. If I may be so bold to ask could you also post Fetish Army and Gargantuan's tooltips? Those are another pair of skills that we know what they do but not the specifics.
Mind that these are the tooltips for level 13...

Soul Harvest (level 14): Feed on the life force of up to 5 nearby enemies within 15 yards. Gain 34 Attack for each affected enemy. This effect lasts 30 seconds. Has a 15 second cooldown.

Gargantuan (level 18): Summon a large zombie follower to fight for you. The Gargantuan swings for 6-8 Physical damage with every swing. Costs 156 mana, and has a 120 second cooldown.

Fetish Army (level 29): Summon an army of Fetish creatures to fight by your side for 20 seconds. Dagger-wielding fetishes attack for 7-11 physical damage. Has a 120 second cooldown.

There's a lot of wording in those tooltips, so if you want to know more, put in a request for 'em. I'll get to them eventually...
