They've addressed it twice at two blizzcons. They're not putting in wasd. They don't think it feels very good.
You know you can HOLD down the click, right?

You never had to click profusely to get around a map. Its called holding the mouse button down.

The whole carpel tunnel thing is pretty much an over exaggeration or from people who dont know how to properly use a mouse.
What does "instant request" mean?

How would you feel if you could hold down the Space bar and your character would walk toward the mouse pointer?
You might notice that Blizzard made a popular game that uses WASD. You might also notice that Blizzard made some other nice games that don't use WASD. If WASD was the best control scheme for Diablo 3, you would think a company that has a lot of experience with it would put it in the game.
because of the nature of gameplay WASD would just be weird and even difficult..
That is the kind a guy that earns beta access. Oh God! It seems it is completly random after all.

I have seen this being asked on the last 2 blizzcons and the answer was No because it didnt feel right.

WSAD is a linear format with 8 directions. Diablo needs an analog input.

The only time you would need to find a solution to keyboard-based movement control though is if you are unable, for whatever reason, to control a mouse / trackball. That suggests a missing or nonfunctional limb.

Is this thread about ultimate-lefties playing Diablo 3?
