Social experiment

Aus/NZ General Discussion
Diablo fans, fellow computer gamers, I have played both Diablo games before and WoW for many years and love all RPG's for the storyline and the gameplay.

Currently I am really enjoying the new Diablo game that I have been waiting so long for, good storyline, awesome movie sequences, awesome item randomisation systems.

My experiment is to see how long I can make a thread of positive Diablo experiences from any of the 3 games in the franchise so far or even looking to the future expansions that are possibly coming without some troll or angry nerd complaining about servers or lag or anything.

If you do feel angry or offended by what I have written go put it on your online blog or something, I would like to see if Aussies and New Zealanders can maintain a civil, friendly conversation about the game for a while.

So how is everyone finding the game / series / future?
Why must you tempt me so ?
Game is amazing.
I wish I had more time to pour into it though, all of my friends have bypassed me, and are now at the 45+ mark.
Keen to get into hardcore and cry when I die :).
I love blizzzard games end of story i dont care if the servers go down or there are problems , nothing works perfect in this world , and the end of the day it is just a game people need to just play it and when it down go spend time with your family
Lol yeah DrakRaven, Dont know if I could handle the HC just yet, I have died so many times and I would cry if I had to start again at level 50+

Those new AOE abilities that they have added to the game are interesting in the you cant always sit there and smack away (Im a monk) but damn they hit hard, not alot of reaction time.

A mate said today that they had a plan for 3 extensions at some point and Im not sure where they will take the storyline, I thought they wrapped it up real nice
Latency is terrible.

Blizzard is terrible.
I'm not interested enough to count those who are actually creating a new thread every 5 minutes talking about latency and how badly they hate Blizzard to know whether this is just a group of 5 people that have decided to DDOS our forum or what. I'm about to stop dropping by here. It sounds like all the squeaky 14 year old voices typically on Xbox online have now landed here swearing and threatening up a storm.
So 5 posts, 2 of my own and the experiment is done. Can pretty much sum up as Hubris said that the forums are pointless now, no one talks or socialises just complains. Sad state of affairs.

Why are you surprised? The overwhelming majority of AU/NZ players are having a bad experience with this game, and you want people to come out & say how great the box art is or how intriguing the story is?

If you can't enjoy the game then you can't praise it. If stroking the box art is enough for you while the servers are down for maintenance [which will once again not fix the issues] then good for you. For most people, however, it is not.

where did you get the statistics from" The overwhelming majority of AU/NZ players" from????
perhaps more are actually having no problems and just in game playing!!!! instead of flooding the forums with thread after thread of the same thing.
Its also a social fact that angry people scream louder and more often than happy people .
to the OP.....good thread and Im enjoying the game. Since initial 2 hour wait on day of release have been able to log in any time Ive chosen to and have had no dc problems. :)

The fact that you can't seem to use punctuation without spamming it at least four times tells me that I should probably just ignore your post altogether. However, I will try to respond with a modicum of respect.

While I did not go and count the number of complaints on the AU/NZ forums (and indeed on the US forums as well) it is pretty clear that the overwhelming number of posts are regarding connection issues with the game (ie. high ping, lag, packet loss, rubber banding, disconnecting, errors). Yes, there are a few people that have not experienced this but they are clearly the exception to the rule.

Secondly, and much less 'statistically correct', I know two dozen or so people and friends who have the game. They range from living on the East coast of Australia, to Perth, to various parts of New Zealand and also one in Japan. All of them have had the issues I described (with varying degrees of severity), and all of them are more computer literate and technically savvy than the average person. One cannot argue that this group of two dozen people of various ages from various locations are simply unlucky and a minority who just happen to have these issues.

Thirdly, Blizzard has acknowledged these issues exist, but you do not?

I look forward to your '???!!!!...' filled reply.
How can you expect AU/NZ players not to be upset when they're being offered worse service for the same price with very tangible consequences?

Blizzard is treating you like garbage. There are no two ways about this. Every single complaint you hear here is valid and necessary to bring about some kind of change.
3,000+ hours of Battlefield & never understood these Blizzard games. Foreign as foreign can be.

I became interested in the hype over Diablo III simply because it looked bawse. I got caught up in the darkness of it all & here I am. I even played Diablo II demo for about 5 hours total last week. Watched tonnes of Twitch.tv also.

Before PC gaming I also played all dem PS1, PS2 & PS3 Final Fantasies for about 100 hours each.

Diablo III is a very immersive (click, click, click) game with a great deal of depth.

Played 14 hours in 3 days already & my jaw hit the floor when the cutscene from the end of Act 1 played last night.

Brilliant game.
CE came with a copy of Diablo II so I guess that's a postive experience.
Ok, I normally observe, but I have to ask: what the hell is this thread?

...My experiment is to see how long I can make a thread of positive Diablo experiences from any of the 3 games in the franchise so far or even looking to the future expansions that are possibly coming without some troll or angry nerd complaining about servers or lag or anything...

"Complaining about servers or lag or anything"?
Seriously: what is this this?

Paying customers who are unable to play their game because of Blizzard's DRM system are now "trolls" or "angry nerds"?
According to Blizzard's own numbers, the majority of AU/NZ players are simply unable to play the game. At all.
Well over half of the global population cannot play without experiencing disconnects, restarts, loss of progress, lag or unplayable conditions solely due to Blizzard's DRM system.
All well articulated points but not the basis of my thread.

If you read the initial post, I never said these issues did not exist or that I was not aware of them. I even sympathise with everyone who is having issues and is not enjoying their gaming experience.

The purpose of this post, and the reason I come on the forums is to see how the game is going for people (when they can play), talk about strategies, item selections etc etc. When I come on the Au/NZ forums all I see is complaining so I was trying to make a thread dedicated to something else.

There are enough threads where you can complain, petition blizzard, call the ACCC, ask for money back etc etc. If this is your gam experience then those are the outlets for you. This thread of for those who are content with the game and just want to chat.
i installed the game without any issues....

ah nice now that i've read the other posts and can see its already non positive.. I can add my sarcastic..

and then attempted to log in and met error 37
While I support the idea of not being negative ALL of the time, I disagree with how you have attempted to go about it.

On topic is: I have really enjoyed this game when the ping is managable. The story is epic, although the end didnt live up to the awesomeness of the beginning. I would give my opinion on bits of the story but it would be a spoiler...

BUT:
By titling your thread social experiment and then implying that many people are 'angry nerds' you weren't conducting an experiment, you were loading the dice so to speak. I was surprised the first post was not Blizzard @#$%$

You thrust everyone that has posted about a game issue into a box labelled 'whingers'
You called it a social experiment
You told people that were 'angry' or 'offended' to bugger off.

To me these things seem nearly as antagonistic as the posts that you are condemning.

The idea that forums have become a bunch of whingers also bothers me. Why isnt there a 'stratedgy sub-forum' for that kind of discussion?

In conclusion you could have just asked for people's positive experiences without the thinly veiled insults.
It's exactly how I like my RPG games, fast leveling, many skills to choose from for different builds of the same class.. And the extra inferno for a challenge.. Hell is the new normal

The diablo game pretty much was the foundation of magic items in my eyes and they still hold the best magic item specs for any RPG to me, movement speed and attack speed is just an example, simple and so effective. I don't play many mmorpg but when I do I hate how the speed are set and cannot be enhanced.

I love reading all this hate threads on how un-awesome the heroes turned out to be and how inferno is too hard.. Lol.. Of corse you will die if your still using blues and rare items that are lv20! Haha

This might not have dungeon raids and an open world and other side quest that will get you off-track on owning diablo in his face because it doesn't need it.

In fact when you think about each Act it's very close to a dungeon raid.. Rush to the boss and own him for items

Winning
