By "investigated", do you mean that the problem hasn't been discovered yet?

It means researched. I am not on the dev team, so I don't have all the facts, just updates they provide.

I do know that this issue happens on the PC side (blue screens not kernel panics) and it's relating to over heating and what not. They do have to work with partners like NVIDIA to help resolve issues, as they can only do so much game wise if it is a driver or hardware issue/limitation.

for me after the new patch game crashes even more! :(

Absolutely! Before it used to crash every once in a while, now I can barely get through 30 min or so, if that!

I know you are not the dev team, but you are our only connection. One thing I am sure of is it is NOT heat-related. As I have reported many times before (in this thread), it has happened on absolutely cold machine that was booted up for 5 min and it crashed (I had at least 3 cases like that). Moreover, I had the crashes during auctioning a couple of times already (including my last kernel panic). This DOES NOT occur with any other software but D3. Please make sure the dev team has this info, hopefully it will help them research faster.

Good luck.
Agreed with Zelka, I just switched my laptop to "Better performance" mode and loaded up D3. I checked my auctions and then started up where the last crash occurred, and played for maybe 2 minutes before it KPed. I also turned my fans up to high AND I have an ice pack under the machine. It's too random to be tied to overheating.

Agreed. NOT an OVER HEATING Issue. Watching the temperature. It could happen in 2 min or 30 mins of play.
I figured it was overheating cause like I posted earlier, once I had smcfancontrol running with a fan cooling the underside of my MBP, I never had a kernal panic again. I've been playing for over a week now everyday without one.

I see why you'd think that, but I've been using SMCfanControl (max fans speed) since the 16th May and it did not prevent a KP. I have cleaned the insides from dust as well and kept it my mac on cool hard surfaces. KPs have been so random that I gave up trying to find the problem with my hardware - I am now convinced its a software issue. I get days with no KPs, and then I get days with 3 KPs over 30 min.

Also, after the patch I experienced something for the first time. Quite annoyingly, I get my FPS drop to 2-3 for 10-15 sec (enough to die if in a fight) regardless of where in the game I am. It happened in town, with monsters, without monsters... again no relation to where in the game I am, or how long the computer has been running. Otherwise, the patch now allows me to play on high textures, high resolution and high physics with a stable 20-30 fps regardless of mob size. Only the dreadful Oasis manages to take it down to 15 fps once there are too many creeps and details.

All I hope is this patch is not just given to us mac users so we shut up, coz there is definitely still much wrong with D3. Most importantly, the kernel panics that this thread deals with have not been fixed.
For me it looks like to be a overheating issue. Even if I start the computer e begin to play it easily goes from 40ºC-44ºC to 77ºC-83ºC in less than 5 minutes and as far as I know Mac systems have an auto turn off feature when the computer reaches around 85ºC to avoid physical damage.
So what is the fix? I am having the same problem. Either I play with "Better Battery Life" and it is choppy, or "Higher Performance" and it freezes the computer. Is there a patch for this?
Well one detail that you left out is that I have an actual physical fan blowing air about a foot underneath my MBP. I leave about a third of the laptop over the left edge of the desk so that the fan can cool it. I have gotten kernel panics if I either didn't have the physical fan on, or did not have smcfancontrol running (both needs to be running).

I admit this is only a temporary solution and will be waiting for blizzard to come up with a more permanent fix. However, I've been playing everyday for about 4-6 hours for over a week without any KP's.

The normal running temperature of the 9600M GT is just under 100ºC. It's not the best architecture I suppose, but it's a relatively powerful mobile dedicated video card (for its time) that never did anything like that before, even when I had it running hot under other games.

that's the case for me as well. although playing on the 9400 has given me kernel panics also. They're less frequent than on the 9600 so i can get an hour or two in. Every game of diablo 3 i've played so far since launch has ended because of a crash, not because I wanted to stop playing.
After the last crash, I realized I keep forgetting to turn down my FPS. I turned down the max from the default 150 to 75, and have had a couple hour plus sessions of the game with no crashing. I'm not convinced it's a fix, but it does seem to have helped.
I have news. Might have this issue solved. 3plus hours of play and no crash thus far. I think it might be a power issue. I have a cooling pad hooked up usb, its possible that with mac running at full might be drawing to much power and causing the crash. I unplugged the cooling pad from the usb and hooked it to the wall. No KP yet guys.

Anyone else have things hooked up USB minus the mouse? Try unhooking it. Hope this helps. I'll keep you guys updated if I KP.
Inferno is impossible with these KPs. You lose the valor buff, you lose your progress, destroy multiplayer/public games etc. I hope a fix is in the pipeline because it drives me mad. Blizzard, please update us asap!
Solved. Ever since I removed my cooling bad from USB I havn't had a Kernel Panic. I believe it is a power issue. Try removing all your USB devices (minus mouse) and see if that helps.

I use a wireless mouse with batteries. But how am I supposed to play without a mouse? The pad? I think it's unrelated. What I know now after a thousand KPs is that they are way more likely to happen in certain places. In Act I these places are the goat field (where you first see goats) and the swamp (collecting the two spheres). In fact, in inferno, since you need to spend quite some time on each area, I have no way to finish the quest in the swamp as I get KP on the 5th minute or so, 10th if lucky.
Mine has happened on the Bridge. On the way to Leoric's manor, Act 3 cavern of Frost, just in town. Couple times when Im about to kill an elite. Ive heard it happen to people in the AH. It's random. The mouse is fine. The cooling pad has fans that take up ALOT of power. When the cpu is processing at full potential the power draw is too much. People have had the same problems with headsets. Im just saying if you are using any USB devices besides the mouse unhook it and see if that helps. I haven't had a KP since.
The USB device thing is not a fix. I play most times with only my USB mouse, and still have KPs (just got one after about 45 minutes of play). There's no rhyme or reason. I get them with my fans turned up, with my fans on default, with the machine raised up on blocks, with the machine on a desk or counter, with only Diablo running, or with other apps in the background. There is no single condition that is predictable.
