The Sword of a Thousand Truths...

Items and Crafting
...will be awful.

Trying to look to the future with this blues > legendaries issue everybody is talking about.

With itemization like this, you won't be able to talk about items on their epic scale of "oh their guild tank has thunderfury!". Instead, if somebody asks you what your rocking for gear you'll say "oh I don't know, some axe or something that rolled a high modifier, or was it a sword or...ah I forget but I think it has 600dps on it". Epic!

My fear is that once I get in my best possible gear, I'll be running around in a +1 burlap sack and my ultimate weapon for tearing apart the demons of hell will be none other than "The Envelope Opener of Toothpicking" which just happened to roll a +2000 damage modifier. We all want to see The Sword of a Thousand Truths and a wide array of useful items like it. I'm tired of my barbarian using this awesome dagger to HulkSmash, it just looks silly.

This seems to somewhat contradict the WoW transmog rule where you specifically cannot make your gear look like trash items because it might look weird and take away from the game.
100% agree!

Fixed items should be included in the game. Since it is already impossible to farm a boss for items, I see no reason why they randomized unique items.
While I agree with you, I hate the Warcraft mentality/example with which you described it.

I actually share your complaint with my example, this isn't warcraft nor should it be, but an example was needed.. I tried to make up for it with the southpark reference.
I really agree with the OP. I hope a patch will come with these changes. This will make the rares and legendaries more valuable in the long run.
