high mitigation or high hp

Brawling
which one is better with the same ehp more mitigation or more hp.
High HP and high dodge contribute more to ehps than mitigation in PvP.

It also depends on your character's class to some extent. Mitigation tends to help barbs and WDs more then wizards, DHs, and monks.

If you are on a budget and you have to choose between armor, resistance, and hp; hp will provide the most noticeable benefits.

Dude you have this so backwards my brain hurts.

For the same ehp value, weighting towards HP is only beneficial to classes using % life regen (barbs dh and WD).

High Mitigation, for the same ehp, is far superior in all other cases. Mitigation increases the effective healing of potions, fixed value regen, block, and diamond skin in addition to hp. All of these are essential to a wiz who has no form of % life regen of any kind.

example; diamond skin, with 90% mitigation 10 k of diamond skin soaks 100K damage, 95% mitigation and that same diamond skin soaks 200k, 99% and diamond skin soaks 1mil.

example; fixed value regen, 1000 regen with 90% can effectively counter 10K worth of dot damage, with 95% counters 20k, with 99% counters 100k

example; block, 5k block with 90% mitigation 50K damage soaked, with 95% mitigation 100k damage soaked, 99% mitigation 500k damage soaked.

NB; you should NEVER include dodge chance or block rate when calculating ehp or mitigation as dot attacks totally ignore them. Instead aim for between 500 dex (20% dodge) to 1000 (30%).

Yes high vita/%life/hp based ehp has a higher cap, but ignoring these other synergies make it entirely squishy and hard to refill.

Try stacking mitigation with a wizard, it doesn't benefit you the same way in PvP as it does in PvE. The way how you explained it is how it is suppose to work, however, other people that have tried stacking over 1000 AR with 50 k hp say that over 100 k hp with 800 AR works better.

Yeah you need mitigation, but if you are at 800 AR and have to choose between an extra 200 AR or 50 k more hp, you are better off with more hp.

The reason why I said something about dodge, is because stacking dex, instead of AR or amor, will keep a wizard alive longer when fighting a DH or monk. This because no amount of mitigation or hp will keep you below a 1-shot from an impale or WoL crit. Even if you have 100 k hp, 800 AR, and 4000 armor; you will get 1-shotted by one of those crits if your opponent is a monk or DH and does 90 k dps.
