Cost... holy crap!

Play Mode Discussion
It's 90$ Canadian for 60 packs....

Holy crap. You can buy 3 Xbox one games for the cost. !@#$. What about those with a lower currency exchange rate in different countries?

I looked just for the dust. 90$ for 40 dust average a pack. Screw that noise. No wonder people complain and leave the game behind.

Attempts to make the pre purchase look good. Meanwhile every 20 packs congrats on the free legendary! You may not have it as viable but hey enjoy! Enjoy the duplicates provided as well. Duplicate commons worth more then the dust to disenchant them, duplicate epics and terrible RNG pack draws.
20 packs and get gunspire? Really?

It will be 100$ for 60 packs soon guys. Enjoy supporting hearthstone or cashstone.
Not to mention:
1. Disenchant ratio is just ridiculous
2. 10 gold for three wins, 10 !@#$ING GOLD, do you know how long does it take for F2P players to get 3 wins?
3. 70% cards are filler, the reason is they want you to buy more packs to get the good cards.

It's actually 40 dust minimum, it averages out around 100.

Not that that would make buying cards good value, at all, HS is incredibly overpriced.

The average is roughly 100 dust per pack. I think 40 dust might be the median. You have a small chance of receiving a golden legendary which raises the average a lot. But since those are rare you can't count on that dust.

Even with 100 dust the cost is absurd. Personally I would never consider Hearthstone if I hadn't started in beta and managed to build up a huge stash of gold and dust from that. The game is not nearly amazing enough to justify the cost of it or the length of the grind.

I played once it was released from Beta. Otherwise if I started now I would quit on the first month.
Free is too expensive?!

Yes we have the option to play for free but if we want to spend money it does cost to much. Do you have anything to offer on that side of the conversation?
worst part is if you one day decide to disenchant lots of cards you got from this 90$ to make a new deck it's like you lost this money in a pit.
Just like getting a wife, you thought it is "free".
Then you lose 50% asset next year.

Free to Play is just more expensive at the end.

It lures you to waste many hours.
Then you feel like you invested too much to quit.

Comparing Hearthstone to a failed marriage has got to be one of my all time favorite analogies.

If i pay or not, the momemtn hs isnt fun anymore id quit, druing gagadzan i actully mostly dint play after launch.
Being f2p has nothing to do with timewaste and not uiting, being f2p game opens it up for more people, and you can choose how much you wanna spend.
3 xbox games? Are you high? Maybe if they're 3 years old. Jesus what a lie. Now this is in US Currency for me, but a brand new AAA game is 64.19 with tax. So you're full of it even with the conversion considered.
It's your fault to live in a country with bad exchange rate. Move to the US like Justin Beiber.

you cant control where your born, and its no simple thing to possiby go to other side of world and go start living there, and some never get oppertunity to even study to get at work for money for such a trip.

We'd be more sympathetic if he didn't lie about 3 xbox games and the average dust per pack. Fact is if the reality of the price is truly outrageous you don't need hyperbole. Yet here we are.
Never spent money on HS until WW , because after thousands of hours as a free player , ive decided that my f2p saving would go on classic packs and a pre purchase for ww would be fun .

Would i buy it again ? Probly not , its quite easy to have over 3k gold upon expac release , not counting a 3k of dust .

Would i buy in between prepurchase ? Never

To be fair the only difference between now and if i didnt buy the prepurchase is quite small for me , id still have the same cards , minus few legendaries that im not even using .

HS is expensive but you can totally get away with it being f2p ...
If I haden't already invest hundreds of dollars as well as hundreds of hours of play into gathering a collection over the years, I'm not sure that I could choose to play hearthstone.

Starting fresh seems like a daunting process that I have no desire to endure.

Currently I can make a few decks of my desire. As a new FTP player I'd have to cobble together a substandard, budgeted deck that the common net decker or respectable home brewers would roll right over.

It's a valid complaint for those who try to get others to start playing, but can't incentivice them to commit necessay money needed to jump start a usable collection. The ulternative is budget decks, toil, and frustration until finally make headway.

Fortunately, hearthstone already had a strong established playerbase. So the limitations of incorporating new players isn't likely be noticably damaging unless large swaths of players lose interest in investing further.

At least the advent of standard created a more manageable expectation of the effort and/or money necessary to remain competetive in the meta.

it's not a lie tho: people in canada re-sell their games constantly after 1-3 months of release for a pretty low price, is almost like a non-failed socialism for videogames

You do realize someone has to buy them at full price to re-sell them right? We have trade in programs too in the US. But a full priced game is 64.19. So no you can't buy 3 games without trading games you already have, which again you had to buy, in the first place. Even used new games go for around 55. He just said 3 xbox games, which implies new, not 3 used games that he traded other games in for. It's a lie or at the very least misleading no matter how you slice it. You can't go into a store and get 3 recent games for 90 bucks unless they are used and you trade in games as well. But that truth doesn't have the same impact eh?
I'd be more worried about the dust cost. I've been playing since the Hearthsteed promotion and I don't even have all the Mage cards. On the plus side I have all the Classic Mage cards so I can focus on opening expansion packs.
