Stats on new expansion legit?

I just read a article stating blizzards boomsday financial report shows its ahead of any previous expansion.

https://venturebeat.com/2018/08/02/hearthstone-the-boomsday-project-preorders-tracking-ahead-of-any-prior-expansion/

Is this for real? I can't believe that people haven't seen through this RNG casino already? Numbers can't be @ their peak right? Does anyone know the actual active player count, is this something blizzard releases or is this just media hype?
Why are you surprised? Unlike previous expansions, BP had two pre-order bundles, one with higher price for more packs. Is this gonna be your excuse to undermine the popularity of HS? I haven't checked the most recent report, but HS is dominating in digital CCG market, like, way ahead of compare to runner-ups. Are you hoping the game does bad because you're not enjoying the game like others?
The Mecha Jaraxsus bait working out really well. that is all. no other expansion offered new hero skins for pre ordering.
Just another example of how the forums are a bad representation of the Hearthstone playerbase as a whole.

Witchwood had, surprisingly to me, the highest spike in viewership for HS according to a Twitch tracking site I use.

Over the past 12 months HS has a very slight upslope (increase) in viewership over time.

Blizzard offered a larger bundle at the same $/pack with 2 bonuses (Gold Legend and Mecha Jarraxus).

Add those three factors and it isn't that surprising to see record sales.
"protest with your wallet"

heh so funny
It's not just that Boomsday offers a better economic deal than the past.

It's also the first expansion that directly buffs and interacts with a "classic" expansion from the past. This is an expansion that appeals to both Standard players and to Wild players.

A better question is why someone who clearly doesn't like the game and doesn't play it is posting in the forum for that game?
They have done an excellent job promoting this set and it looks great even if druid is tier S.

I would say most people like RNG because it lets them win when they normally could not. Most *bad* players will flock to a game setup like this because most decks that have a decent win % are brain dead decks. This is also a game that highly caters to aggro decks which a ton of people like (time is money)..

It is also a game that many many people can associate with because all the cards are from World of Warcraft and such which gives it an advantage others do not have.

I don't care let people spend tons of money on the game makes it free for me.

I was also expecting the expansion to be taking Hearthstone in a downward direction, not up.

I would like to say the numbers prove my longstanding opinion that if Blizz is more generous with rewards, like they've been lately with double gold and other promotions, players will actually play more, and actually end up giving more money, not less.

On the other hand, instead of giving a free hero portrait like in the last 3 xpacks, they are moving the hero to the pre-order purchase only. That's not more generous. It's more greedy. So. Here is the sound of one hand clapping.
