Infinite Armor Pacifist Shudderwock

Play Mode Discussion
... is the most obnoxious thing I've ever seen.

A youtube video demonstration, for the uninitiated:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ST74fKbSMkE

By generating armor at a potentially exponential rate and freezing the entire enemy board, it guarantees an eventual fatigue win. If played out, doing so would almost certainly take longer than a full day in real time.

Which means that the win condition is actually trolling the opponent into clicking "Concede"...

Which means that the win condition is actually being more patient/having more time to waste than your opponent.

That seems like bad game design to me.

I'm currently staying connected to this game on my phone (the infinite chain started some 30 minutes ago) and drawing out each turn to its maximum length to make the experience as unpleasant for the other guy as it is for me in hopes of dissuading him from running this deck. I mean, c'mon, if you didn't even have the decency to run a lifedrinker?

Someone patch this thing. If there were a maximum game time for Hearthstone games after which any game is declared a stalemate, it would fix this issue without having to meticulously rebalance Shudderwock.

ETA: Four pages later, people still think this post is about power levels and not raw obnoxiousness, even after "have the decency to include a lifedrinker!"

If anyone's interested in a truly messed up situation, go to page 3 or so where someone points out a Toast game where his opponent would've won but he created the animation hostage situation.

And thanks to Blizzard for nerfing this crap.

Just nerf shudderwock. That's it.
There is a max game time.

It is 90 turns. When the first player reach his turn 45 it is considered a draw.
I didn’t click the link but saw DaneHS put up a 2 and a half hours and he literally had 2262 armor by the end of it.

Yeah that’s pretty gnarly.
Kind of funny that the first time i fight one of this i was playing a casino discard mage i made for fun, 45 deck of wonders rolling, and in one of those demonic project hitted the shudder, the good karma
I LOVE IT! Hahahahahahh xD
warriors been doing stuff like this for years
looks like the guy from half life 1, the doctor something
anyway, rank 5 and not even in standard, looks more like a fun deck than something op
Watched this being played on stream.

Not sure why OP is being downvoted. This deck can indeed create 2 hour or more games, the animations can easily take 10 minutes a turn.

It creates a hostage situation where you hold your opponent in an unwinnable game where they will eventually fatigue. Plenty of players out there who enjoy griefing and will play this.

Curious on what arguments you guys have for leaving this in the game? How does it enhance the game exactly?

That's good to know, but it's not an issue of the raw number of turns, but the amount of time it takes to finish a turn.

The game I mentioned ended up taking somewhere over 3 hours. By the end, he didn't even really want to troll anymore--he was letting his turns time out until he saw me lifestealing health back lol. We may have been remarkably close to turn 45, because I was fatiguing over 20 damage each turn.

The issue isn't "wow this game is kinda long," it's "wow this game will take literally over 3 hours to fatigue me to death unless I concede." In standard, even.

I don't think it's overpowered. I just think it feels bad and the situation is easily fixable.

^ This exactly.

Btw I met this style of deck in standard. Glacial shard, polar bear express guy, ice cream guy, plated beetle, undatakah.

Oh, I'd play something like this. I might net deck this actually! I love the trolly decks, and I know so many people despise them.

To those people, I say, yes, I know why you despise them. But, I am what I am, and I like to be that guy with Benedictus. xD
Its unreal how hard that combo is to set up..
Like a T3 aggro deck will win 100% of the time vs that shudderwock/Da Undatakah on top of the fact that the standard shudderwock thats still playable one-shots you with twice the less effort and even so shudderwock is at 45% win rate atm but people still have the nerv to complain about that and not odd pallys 61+% win rate..

whats the difference ?
besides how much armor each one makes in 1 turn

i went vs many warriors able to increase their armor and blow up stuff until i go into fatigue

or worse

players who do the above meaning long games and roping too
Thanks so much for introducing the deck OP. Crafting it right now.
No amount of armour can save you from...

UTHER OF THE EBON BLADE!
So 2 hour draw if I play Odd Warrior with Azalina.

Why not just like play the normal version and beat me 99% of the time?

People like to make others life miserable.

Just see on those forums the many examples of it.
Toast is streaming this at the moment at 3800 armor, 2hr 15min game time and framerate starting to crash...

No one can watch that and think "what a well designed game" :P

He got 5000+ armor now, literally 3 hours game. Looks like the game will end up as a draw because fatigue won't eat such big amount of armor in 45 turns.
