Then don't stand in it. It's no different than old Tormented Souls, Blaze's Combustion, Poison Nova, Mosh Pit, or any other AOE ability. If you're facing an opponent who has one, be prepared to scatter. If it can't hit multiple heroes it can't do damage, and in Kerrigan's case, if it can't do damage it can't give her shields.

The attitude, "well, I don't consider this to be the 'serious' game mode, TL/HL/amateur competitive is," is why you'll also get trolls and hijinks in unranked, HL, and TL. Remember that the next time you use that same logic in QM.

Just go through each hero as you play them. There's no reason to add a very specific feature for something that can be done while you wait for the gates to open.

Hers is arguably better late game. She uses those abilities anyway to heal and so at level 13 she can use them to root as well. The main advantage the others have is that they always root and do not require a talent.All those heroes can suffer mana sustain problems if using their root liberally. Whitemane's root is completely free with the only cost being cooldown.
