Lucio? Why no hype?

General Discussion
For me personally I'm not very into supports but for the community haven't you guys been begging for a new support and no more Warcraft? Well you got a new support and it's overwatch and your still complaining?
i came to hots FROM overwatch and i think lucio is a dumb character.
I think Blizzard playerbase is a bit of racist. They don't like black characters. If it was mercy, a lot would have wetted their pants.

Just like Sylvanas, no way Horde / Warchief material.
I dont complain. I just dont care for Overwatch. But i do get why some people are excited. Its just not me.

Id rather have Baal or some other Prime Evil, but i can wait a little longer.

I've got the feeling the community wanted a support or specialist, either from Diablo or SC. This was easy to deduce by just a quick glance at the forums this past weeks.

Imo, i couldnt care less. I never played WoW (i did play W3) yet some of my favorite heroes like Chromie, Kaelthas or Guldan are from WoW. I also love Tracer, and she's from OW.

The only thing important to me is that the hero has an engaging, interesting gameplay. The problem is i dont play supports at all, and i was so hyped for Stukov, but hey a lot of ppl play supports and its time for them to get smth new. Maybe even i'll try supporting if Lucio is interesting, bc i've got Auriel, Malf or BW (from events and packs) and so far they are level 1, never played them just bc i like more killing than healing.

For me, the good news about this is that most probably Stukov will be a specialist, which is what i wanted.
cause 1) I don't play overwatch

and 2) He looks dumb (like someone you would want to punch in face just based on his looks)

What is wrong with his looks? You wanna punch coloured people, just because they aren't white? Or is the hair triggering you?

LOL.

the !@#$? i dont like lucio because hes a lazy character, ooooo much skill in standing near an ally...

idc for support and hes an incredibly lazy support
I dont play overwatch but ive watched some of the gameplay and seen all the characters and from the very beginning I wasn't really interested in Lucio because he's a bit of weird joke kinda character; he's a dude running around on roller skates with a microphone for a gun, similar in the way I dislike LiLi (a panda girl who throws out brews and wind).

From a variety viewpoint though I can see why they had to release Lucio next as he represents many things HOTS is lacking:
- a support
- an OW character
- a brazilian i dont think we have any of those yet.

I hope to be proven wrong and that blizzard has given him a very unique and fun kit as we need all we can get in the support world atm. The first two OW characters are mountains of fun so hopefully the third will follow.
I don't mind a new Overwatch character and I'm glad we're getting a new support, I just think Lucio is a lame character. "A pro dj turned hero" is just a retarded character concept. D.Va's "pro gamer" character concept is equally stupid (I actually want to play her though, because giant pink robot, lol). I wasn't excited about Zarya either but actually really like her kit, so maybe Lucio will be fun too. Still don't like Tracer and think she's the most annoying character ever.
Should be fun, will be a passive aoe healer which I like.
Honestly I like all of the blizzard games so any new character is great as long as they keep coming ever few weeks!
Lucio was the deciding factor for me to not pay money for overwatch.

A large AOE heal is low quality design. Anything that works decently well without requiring decision making from the player is appropriate for single player games, browser games, and kids games. It's not appropriate for a TF2 clone, even one that is functional with a handheld controller.

And don't compare him to Brightwing. Her AOE heal is very small compared to the total playing area, unlike Lucio.
I for one am excited for Lucio. I don't play Overwatch (I actually tried it, but decided it wasn't for me), but Lucio's mechanics seem interesting. We don't have a super-mobile support right now, and switching stances is always fun gameplay IMO. I also dig his personality - he's got a high energy that I like.

Plus, he's not a Warcraft Assassin. That helps.

You do realize that no one takes Lucio for the heal in OW, right?

Sure, he can swap to it if needed, but it's his ability to give a massive speed boost (making Capture games decided on if your team has Lucio or not at lower tiers), his ability to make his entire team shielded, and the low healing he can occassionally give all roll into one package. There's also the fact that he's one of the few supports who can protect himself.

Lucio is an Off-Support, nothing more. He simply won't heal enough to keep an entire team going by himself.
I am very excited about Lucio. I think the dynamic of being about to switch from healing to movement speed will bring a new thing to hots. I play supports and this is the first new hero I'm been interested in really learning since Auriel. I think this has the potential to add a lot to the game.

Not to mention it brings some diversity to the game, as well as another needed hero from the overwatch universe.
There's too many logical fallacies in your post to address each one.

I said he was mindlessly simple, he is, and that's both before and after the painfully obvious and necessary nerf. His simplicity is apparent, regardless of why he is being picked or used.

The fact that the overwatch design team actually waited weeks to nerf him demonstrates how green and inexperienced they are.

If they would bring Jazreth (that is black)... badass Vizjerei, sorcerer from D1... instead of retarded monkey with stupid hair-style that is running with kid toy and playing music. I would be hyped.

And I would love Mercy... as SKIN

Exactly. This is what I was thinking as well. Here is a playerbase that will flat-out call you a racial slur if you messed up. Here is a playerbase that will excuse that behavior. Here is a playerbase that - for all of their privilege and math skills - don't even realize that this is Black History Month and lack the intellectual heft to realize the significance.

Think about it, every hero is either white, a monster, or an anthropomorphic animal (Don't believe me? Look at the roster!). For them, the inclusion of Lucio brings a sense of dread as it heralds the integration of a non-white hero to the roster. To their credit, I applaud their lack of enthusiasm because, frankly, I expected unmitigated outrage at Lucio's inclusion.
Yeah, I feel like I am one of the only people who is not opposed to Lucio being added. A nice reprieve from 5-WC in a row, plus we need more supports. Although would be nice to see what would come from the mystery box of specialists too.
