CDC #6 - Hellscape

Hero and Skin Suggestions
With Mephisto's emergence into the Nexus, the gates of hell are all but asunder. Flooding in are his trusted minions and companions, the demonic forces of the burning hells.

Hello and welcome! This is the Concept Design Contest #6 - Hellscape thread. Here, over the course of this week, you will create a brand new concept based on the following criteria and provide a link to it here. Please leave a comment if you are signing up for the contest below, and use that comment to deliver the link to the thread. The contest will have three judges, who will each take one week to look over the designs, commenting and helping out with the design. All dates are set to allow the maximum time, and the deadlines will be at 11:59 Eastern Standard Time. The thread must be submitted at exactly 11:59, and there will be no exceptions.

Theme: The theme of this concept is simple. To amend for the lack of enemies from Diablo in Heroes of the Storm, the only requirement for your character is that they must be a demonic enemy from the Diablo franchise. However, they cannot simply be a neutral faction (like the Khazra) that is corrupted, or an evil human. They must be demonic. Corrupted Angels, like Death Maidens or Exarchs, are not allowed.

Sign-Up
Saturday, September 1
Come one, come all! Every sign-up today preferably, but if you missed the day, go ahead and leave a comment over week 1 and you will be accepted into the contest still. The judges will be Damian, Bliztron, and Deefe. Judges are not able to make concepts themselves.

Week One
Sunday, September 2 - Saturday, September 8
This week is for the base concept. This is simply the abilities and the role. Remember, the role is very important, and part of the judging will be on how well the abilities fit together under a role. If it doesn’t fit under any role, make sure you make it a Specialist. This is the only week for sign-up, so make sure you give us something before the week is up! Damian will be the judge that will comment on the Sunday that follows.

Week Two
Monday, September 10 - Saturday, September 15
This week is for the talents. This means a fully fleshed out talent tree set up with the tiers in order. Make sure your talents are interesting and creative, but still fit with the character and design as a whole. You should touch up on your abilities based on week 1 feedback, as that will also be considered in week 2 judging. I, Bliztron, will comment on the Sunday that follows.

Week Three
Monday, September 17 - Saturday, September 22
This week is for the finishing touches. This includes fluff, stats, additional notes, skins, and whatever else you want to add. This has an element of freedom to it, but to give yourself the best shot, you should probably make your concept sell itself. Make the judges become immersed in your concept. Deefe will be the judge that will comment on the Sunday that follows.

Week Four
Monday, September 24 - Saturday, September 29
This week is the last week for changes to the concept. All major work should be finished by this week, and major changes are risky. Each of the judges will keep a close eye on the concepts, coming to their own opinions. The judges will have all commented feedback and ratings as they saw fit over the last three weeks, so you will have some idea as to what each of us are looking for. At this point, just make sure to touch up your design and make it truly sparkle.

Finale
Sunday, September 30 - Tuesday, October 2
All changes are closed. The judges will gather to determine who is the ultimate winner of the contest, announcing the winner sometime on Monday.
The following information will be about the judging structure and how points will be fully evaluated. On each Sunday, a comment will be posted with the following rubric filled out, and then another post will be created explaining a detailed analysis on the concept, giving thorough feedback. These points add on to your total, and at the end, each person will have a score out of 60. Make sure you gather as many points as you can during the first three weeks, but do not be afraid if you fall slightly behind, as some promising changes could really make the difference in the final week.

Individual Judges
-/5 Creativity
-/5 Cohesiveness
-/5 Thematic
-/5 Interaction

-/20 Total

Final Week
-/10 Creativity
-/10 Cohesiveness
-/10 Thematic
-/10 Interaction
-----------------------------
-/40 Final Verdict
(+2 Thoughtfulness, +2 Game Fluidity) [+4 bonus total]

The final score and the winner will be taken from whoever has earned the best score. If any tie should occur, then the judges will all agree on a single winner. There will be a single winner, and one runner up.

Creativity: This is how creative the design of the character is, and how creative the actual choice was. While a big name will certainly win you some points for awe factor, a particularly clever choice and design may edge out the victory.

Cohesiveness: This is representative of how well the design fits together, and how well it works with the role and gameplay style you are trying to accomplish. This score will mainly be in relation to a gameplay identity we feel you are trying to give off.

Thematic: These points are mainly for how well the ideas fit with the character. A demon that is a butcher of man would not really be a gentle healer than encourages his allies to do better. Make sure that when creating your character, you will also look towards what they would actually be doing.

Interaction: Interaction is the interaction your character has with allies, and enemies. How the character feels to play with and against is a crucial part of the character’s design, one so crucial it deserves a place in the rubric. Killing your entire team to power yourself may be fun for you, but it would not be fun for your allies, and the character design as a whole would suffer for it. Consider your character in the game, fighting against him and alongside him.

CDC #5 - Unsung Page Turners

Winner: Zelkyr, High Sage of the Arakkoa (Nortin)
Bah, curses, I've already done Belial(probably my favorite of the Evils)... Hm. I do like the theme, though. There are a lot of interesting demons in Diablo to build a kit with. Which one is the question..

EDIT:
May I present: Rakanoth, the Lord of Despair, and the reason Despair stopped seeming like a word for like two days.

Was very torn between him and Duriel, who I'll probably still end up making soon after the contest ends.

Luckily Belial doesn't count towards this contest, if you read up to the fancy italic text and then the theme it says there followers/minions who have to be Demons for example and im not suggesting anything here, Izual would classify as one due to being a minion of Diablo while another one is Cydea a minion of Azmodan while those 2 are big names this does not mean the smaller, lesser known or just someone special you meet in a D2/D3 session cannot be written about either :)

Also damn! i had a Diablo demon minion i wanted to write before this contest >.<
Just to clarify, can we use corrupted angels?

Errr i don't know about that actually and is a really good question, i know Izual is classed as a demonic minion but i don't know if Corrupted Angels are by lore standards hopefully Bliztron can answer that for ya.

Till then you should still think about it just incase he gives you the getgo, ACT V ones wouldn't count 100% i know that much.

Thanks for the response. I have already choosen new character (definitely demon).
I'm not sure if it was a demonic creature, but somewhere in Diablo 3 (I think it was below Westmarch) I fought this crazy boss that was one of the Hardest fights I've ever had in a video game. It shot Fire everywhere, did all sorts of other things, and wasn't Urzael. Anyone remember its name?
That's a slippery slope of a theme, semantically.
For example: why don't "evil humans" count? they're (half) demonic, that's the whole plot of Reaper of Souls!
What about Khazra/goatmen? I think D3 lore retconned them to be from Sanctuary and not the Butning Hells. Are they demons?
Same for the panther-men and snake-men, are those demons? or are they denizens of sanctuary which have been corrupted by actual demons?
so many questions! XD

joke post aside, I think I have an idea that works with this theme, and I'll edit in the link later.

EDIT: here's the link

Okay, okay. I admit, I wrote the theme a tad quickly, since it was late after work, and I was not as clear as I could have been. I have clarified the main post, but for the interest of transparency, I'll make a full breakdown here.

The character must be a demon, no matter how low or how high up they are. This means anyone from Baal to an imp is a candidate for the contest. However, the concept must be a demon; corrupted angels from Reaper of Souls, corrupted humans (those subjugated by demon lords like Lazarus or simply evil ones like Zoltun Kulle), and neutral races that are corrupted or antagonistic (Khazra, magical beasts) are all not eligible for the contest bounds.

No points will be deucted fro using a lesser known demon, or for using a major demon lord. I only care about the concepts and how well they fit said character. Good luck everyone!
Okay, I have an idea, now how do I start my own thread? I haven't made one in months and have completely forgotten how to do things!

New topic at the top of the Hero and Skin Suggestions page, towards the right side(for me). After that, fairly self explanatory? Just, know that there's an upper limit of... 3000-5000 characters? I forget exactly how many, but that's why you might see people reserve some extra posts for their concept.
(Might not have needed to explain that far, but, felt it was safer to do so.)

Ok, thanks!
All right I think I may have an over ambitious concept here but I felt like I had to do some thing extreme to get back into concept design so here is my first Giant hero concept with his own special set of rules for his size.

Sledge The Mallet Lord

Yup! The cut-off time for submissions is Saturday at 11:59 EST.
I posted my Baal Concept twice and for some reason it keeps getting deleted. Anyone know what's going on? Am I doing something wrong?
