Reddit is destroying HOTS (Garden of terror replacement)

Very disappointed with the new map. It is not an update or redesign. It is the process of replacing a map with unique gameplay elements with, as someone on youtube calls it: Alterac with flowers.

I think Blizzard listens too much to the reddit community. It has been demonstrated years ago that the upvote/downvote system of reddit turns people into a flock.

When you look at the up/downvotes (which is not the same as reddit) and comments on youtube you can see that this change is polarising. (50% downvotes.)

I agree 100%. Garden of Terror was just fine and a rework like this was not only unnecessary, but makes the game more bland. Why would we transition unique mechanics into the same mechanics of other maps?
So you want Blizz to listen to this forum? lol

I havent seen any thread about reworking GoT on reddit btw, so they didnt really listen to it either.
Honestly the rework is good for the HL and Competetive scene because the map is now pretty much like the already good cursed hollow map or tomb of the spider queen.

But yea I'm kinda sad its gone. Couldnt we have just gotten a new map that's like this one? I dont mind the new map but old terror was still fun.
I'll miss the vehicle from this map, I like the vehicle opbejctives, but to who should Blizz listen? And can you prove that GoT rework is made because of Reddit?
I'll admit, I'm kind of glad they changed the day/night cycle (half the games ive played on that map the remaining seeds would be forgotten as soon as one team got the terror), but the vehicle was the fun part of this map. If they made it so that you had to use the new seed mechanic to make the terror grow and THEN use it, that would probably be fine, but now, like you said, it's just Alterac with flowers.
Rework is good, Plant has been a meh mechanic all along but it was unique if not always "good"

Farewell uniqueness, hello balance and professional play.
They want to standardize map design in order to make it more fair and balanced in esports.

Why?

At least they didn't make it another 2 lane garbage map that makes specialists in QM dead weight.
totally agree. I loved terror garden now is another boring map with mechanics we already had.

this game is about variety, they are making all maps look the same.

The point of HotS is to have different maps that play in different ways. It encourages you to select different heroes and different playstyles. Even if you only play 1 hero, you should be building that hero differently on each map to create the best strategy that will allow your team to win.

Having maps that are by all accounts copies of one another is an awful decision. If GoT is truly unbalanced, it either needs to be tweaked, or new maps made that suit the current meta and gameplay that people expect, not simply made into a reskin of existing maps.
Blizzard never looks in this forum, they always go to reddit. Everyone there is praising them for everything that they make. So the devs can bath in undeserved love and pretend that everything is okay, because the reddit hive mind said so. Posting in Blizzard forums is literally pointless, because the devs do whatever the fck they want anyway.

And this, is where the devs have been dead wrong, for the last 18+ months. Their blind desire to improve the esports scene, has murdered this game.
One of my favorite things about that map was the day/night cycle....
honestly, the whole 'alterac' with flowers seems pretty stupid and missing the idea of the map in favor of over simplifying details to act like they're an expert appraiser.

The basis of the map was already given in the video: its raven's curse for disabling structures and has a channeled collect-3, which is somewhat different than the 'king of the hill' style of protecting the taken objective via alterac. Similarly, having all 3 lanes getting a summon at the front line is the quirk of spider queen, both of which were qualities expressed in the video. Collection progress may be preserved, so its less an all-or-nothing than alterac where holding a point doesn't matter if it isn't completed.

But oh no, its "alterac" instead of the immediate comparisons that are both closer aligned and already stated to be the case.

Fantastic observations there clearly demonstrate they're on the cusp of quality feedback in appraising the map changes.
Socializing has always been destroying the game's core and value.
Those reddit people probably smell like old garlic and cat vomit.

That's the thing though that made me like this game for a good while.

They care about e-sports but I don't. HOTS is-was like pentathlon: you have to be an expert at several disciplines (map mechanics). Of course there are specialized, better competitors in all disciplines, but you have an advantage over them across the entire range.

When it comes to the point that I'm going to do sport, I don't want to do just one thing. I don't just want a white and a blue map, I enjoyed mechanics. That's what made WoW bland (when game modes became too easy, so that mechanics wouldn't matter) as well.

There was an ama.
I don't think reddit had anything to do with this change to be honest. Plenty of crybabies here on the forums, I doubt the topics they whine and moan about are any different on reddit.

The new map mechanics are... lame. Period. I hope Blizz just puts the kibosh on this and just keeps the map as it is.

Yes they mentioned it in AMA what I mentioned here myself multiple times already.

Since it wasnt obvious the first time - where is link to that highly upvoted reddit thread that convinced Blizz to rework GoT, before the first announcement?
