Great attitude to have towards the game; that you can always improve. But the Master rank is completely fine, as someone above me said its a relative term, compared to the majority of people, you've 'mastered' the game.

In my personal opinion, having experienced the whole range from Gold to Masters (can't account for Silver and Bronze), whilst the SR system isn't perfect, it's pretty good at putting you where you belong. Lots of people get very angry about leavers, smurfs, throwers and the like, but the truth is, everyone around where you are is experiencing the same thing at (around about) the same frequency. This is a ridiculous idea because you're grouping all "kids" (you said under 18 so it's minors really, because you're not exactly a "kid" at like 17) into the same group. I hate when people do this because I've played games my entire life (I am 17 now) and I always get !@#$ on games when in team chats because of my age, despite being - in as little of a stuck up way as I can say this - better than most of the adults I come across. If you can even call them adults when they're not mature enough to take each "kid" on their own merit and understand that the whiny screamers aren't all there is.

Everyone faces smurfs at (around about) the same frequency and still manage to climb. You need to focus on your own performance rather than blaming it all on others.

Who you play doesn't matter as long as it works.If you perform well on those heroes, and are doing so inside your current team comp, then don't worry. However you might want to keep in mind the mindset of other players, if they get tilted at the start because you've locked an 'off meta' hero, don't argue with them. Perhaps even consider switching? Because the mindset of the team is paramount if you want to win.

Always playing one hero is completely fine for as long as it's working. The only time it's a problem is if you need to switch and aren't good enough on any other heroes to do so.Personally I main Lucio and will literally always choose him if possible, this isn't a problem however as, on the few occasions when I need to switch, I am able to play Mercy, Soldier and Zarya (plus a little bit of Ana) to make sure I'm not a liability to the team.EDIT: You need to make sure that not only can you play the other heroes, but your skill on them is equal to that of your main.
