It didn't work for me :(

Hi all, we're continuing to investigate these reports and have found that some of the players who are experiencing this have been able to make progress with the general connection troubleshooting info that we offer here.

In addition to the latency troubleshooting, programs like Advanced SystemCare and Asusgamefirstservice.exe have been found to cause connection issues with Overwatch. For the sake of troubleshooting, we recommending uninstalling IOBit - Advanced SystemCare and disabling asusgamefirstservice.exe through the services.

To disable asusgamefirstservice.exe:
 • press the windows key and R on your keyboard at the same time
 • type and enter: services.msc
 • find asusgamefirstservice.exe and double-click to open
 • change the "startup" dropdown to disabled
 • click the 'Stop' button then okay to apply the changes.

Additional Troubleshooting Steps:
 • Add an exception/exclusion for the game in Avast (if present)
 • Disable Plays.tv services
 • Run the Battle.net App in Administrator Mode

If you continue to experience the error message after trying the above steps, it will be helpful to have you report the make/model of your router in a new post in this thread, along with your Trace Route, Pathping, and Looking Glass results.

Much appreciated!

@Invention: You may want to reach out to the ISP and ask for their direct support to help make sure that the Game Mode has been disabled in the router settings, and that the built-in Router firewall has been changed to the Medium setting. Additionally, you may want to also try the
Port Forwarding steps for your router as well as configure your network settings to use Google Public DNS.

Unfortunately, this kind of response doesn't provide me with the specific info that's going to help us work this out with you. With that said, we are continuing to review the reports- specifically the diagnostic information and steps that people have reported in this thread.

--------------------------

@Rawrtalent: Try both the port forwarding steps for your router and switching to Google's public DNS.

--------------------------

@CuSith: I'm sending you an email with a request for a specific diagnostic file. Please respond to the email at your convenience. Ty
Thank you! Indeed it worked! :D
Just to update, I've been playing the game since 4pm today, it's now 11:08pm no disconnects yet, it's stable. I've tested observing games, playing matches and just leaving the game running, so far so good.

The fix: Changing the Cache to Cacheold, flushing my DNS, then relaunching the game fresh.

Will update if I still get the error but as for now it's fine

It's GPON G-93RG1
I've got the same issue. I was able to play perfectly up until last Saturday, when this issue arose (I was able to play fine even with 600 ping). Afterwards, this issue started occurring, and I'm no longer able to play online. A lot of the times I connect, I join, can play for about 30-90 seconds, and then the game freezes (The refresh icon with the lightning bolt appears), and the ping, RTT and IND numbers stop moving, tries to reload the map, and once it fails, it hangs in the menu saying "Joining game" for about 10 seconds, then states "Failed to connect to server". I've tries google's public DNS, updating drivers, changing cache to cacheold and flushing the DNS, and followed every step in Blizz's general troubleshooting list. Interestingly, I can still chat to people in game, via text and voice, I just can't play, up until it disconnects from the server completely. Some servers work fine, but most do not.
@Warmongerous: Please post your Trace Route as well as provide your Router's make/model, ty.

Still happening suddenly today, I've now port forwarded as you instructed and will test this for a bit first before trying the Google DNS... will post updates
Thanks, Rawrtalent. Here's hoping you see improvement!

@Invention; perhaps ask your ISP if they can provide you with a different make/model of router. I have consistently seen reports from players with Technicolor brand routers that this is persisting for them; I'm thinking that you'll likely see this abate as soon as you connect through a different device.
