Invention,

OK, first go ahead and try to disable just the Game option, and test out the game. If the issue persists, go ahead and select disabled for the firewall, and test the game again.

Btw, what was your router's brand and model number?

Neither of the 2 options solved the problem
Invention,

Go back into the router settings > go into the Firewall section again > under the Pick a task section, you'll see Set Game Mode > select that, that will be the one you want to disable.

ITS A WAY TO SLOW YOU DOWN PEOPLE OR BETTER YET DO NOT SUBSCRIBE IN THIS GAME, CHECK OUT ANOTHER GAME SUCH AS "INSPIRIT ONLINE", I BET IF PEOPLE START LEAVING THIS GAME BLIZZARD WILL DO SOMETHING FAST TO THIS ISSUE.
Same issue, I do believe its a location / IP thing because I tether to play. I get DC when joining games with certain people ( out of my local area? )

The game mode is disabled, that was the first thing I checked when i started searching for solutions
Invention,

I was looking back through the this thread and I didn't see where you posted what your issue actually is. Can you give me a bit more detail on what happens when you try to connect?

Also, does your home network use just the technicolor device to connect, or does it also have a separate modem connected?

What security programs do you have installed?

The problem is I can only play 2 games in a row. In the third the map loads but i dont go in the "champion select". So after 2 games i need to restart the game. (the same problem posted in the first comment)
I think I only have the technicolor device.
I have no security programs installed
Invention,

Can you check with your ISP if they offer a different device that is not the Technicolor brand?

If they do, would they be able to swap it out for you?

I can check that, but I only have problems with overwatch...
system: windows 10
security programs: none just uninstalled due to GM recommendation
ISP: charter communications
country/city/state: US/waynesville/north carolina
Brief description: play a few games then get kicked out randomly then send back to menu it says searching for game then "failed to connect to server" in chat box. i have to restart the client and sometimes that doesn't even fix it. when i get in game it will sometimes let me play for a few hours then other times i get kicked instantly when i zone in game. UPDATE: the issue seems to be getting worse now i get kicked in the character selection screen.
modem brand/number:Cisco dpc3208
router brand/number:belkin n300 f9k1007v1
connection: wireless
I've found for me, this is usually about RTT. I usually play with about 180 ping, which is fine. When my RTT is 220ish, like usual, the game is okay.

However, sometimes, the RTT spikes up above 300, at which point I get "failed to connect to server."

I can't figure out why the RTT is spiking so high on some servers.

It may just be a coincidence, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
Invention,

Others with Technicolor modem/router's have reported issues as well. They were able to work around their issue by changing a few router settings, but in you case that's not working. Changing out the router would be the next thing to try to eliminate that as a factor.

Thanks, Rawrtalent. Here's hoping you see improvement!

The issue is " better " but not perfect it's still happening. Instead of every 2-10 minutes its now 1 in every 5-10 games or 1 hr plus before it disconnects. I've tried all the steps you've suggested including swapping to google public DNS, still happening

If you continue to experience the error message after trying the above steps, it will be helpful to have you report the make/model of your router in a new post in this thread, along with your Trace Route, Pathping, and Looking Glass results.

Much appreciated!
Can someone tell me how to find this out.

Earlier in this thread they've shown how to provide the info they ask
So yeah I bought over watch a little while ago and since I bought it, it has been nothing but trouble. I log in, play and then I crash over and over. Repeatedly. Today for example was one of the worst. I logged in and I crashed before i could even get past the main menu. I was in a skype call and it has a timer of course, and while trying to log back and forth after crashing and crashing in 22 minutes I crashed 20 times. This is ridiculous. Idk if it's internet or a bug, but in other games like league of legends I can have high ping (not that I do) and I won't crash. But the minute I spike a little or if im steady it'll crash.

try reading some of the methods to fix the issue... try them first, then if the problem continues post what Araxom has instructed us all to do. Personally my issue has gotten " better " but not 100% fixed. Went from disconnecting every game minimum 2-5 times within 5-10 minutes to maybe once every 4-5 hours and sometimes it's afk disconnect.
I can't even play this game! I bought it two weeks ago and I can't even play the tutorial because of this "Failed to Connect to Server" bull!@#$. It's just a forty dollar paper weight taking up space on my hard drive. Thanks Blizzard.
