Who is a main tank besides Rein?

Can anyone do the job besides Rein?
You mean like that one badass korean that mains Zarya that made the whole world play Zarya?
It all just comes down to the player. Reinhardt is probably the most traditional tank with his shield, but I've seen Zarya and Winston both used to great effect as tanks. Roadhog and D.Va are both a little different as they're not quite "protect the team" tanks in the ways Rein is.
It feels sometimes like there MUST be a Rein on the team, especially when pushing. I've tried with the other tanks, and it's more difficult.
I feel like Winston is the most traditional style of tank, draws aggro the most too, every tank seems to do their job well tho lol

No one.

And no, I'm not kidding. No one does the same job Reinhardt does. All the other tanks in the game are essentially off-tanks or tanky supports or tanky DPS.

This is probably one of the biggest and most glaring hero balance issues in the game at the moment, no other hero can push points like Reinhardt can, or protect a team like Reinhardt can.

Either Reinhardt needs to be toned down, or another tank needs to be given this sort of purpose, or another hero needs to be created to fill this niche.
Reinhardt is really only a good tank in escort maps and some offense maps. The other tanks do much better in assault maps and control maps. Winston is good to get in the backline and invade objectives. Zarya is a good tank fighter, while roadhog specializes in roaming and picking people off.

To add to this;

No ones slick as Reinhardt.
No ones quick as Reinhardt.
No ones necks as incredibly thick as Reinhardts.

And he uses antlers in all of his decorating.
The whole point of this game is each hero contributes in a different way. If all the tanks are the same then this really wouldn't be overwatch. Just look at support, how many of them are similar? Reinhardt actually has his flaws. Sometimes it's not a good idea to hide your whole team behind a shield, sometimes you want them harassing the enemy team from many angles.
It's funny when people say "X is good but you need a main tank" when main tank always means Reinhardt. No point in using the term when only one character fits the description.

I'm so happy you referenced this. It's what I immediately thought of as well.

Anyway, I pretty much agree with Fahita. I love Rein and I don't want him to change, but it'd be cool if there were another character as effective as him.

!@#$, that was tanking?! I've been doing wrong all this time.
I love having a Reinhardt with Zarya on my team. It just makes it so much easier since both those ults can destroy teams when used correctly. Not to mention the amount of dmg mitigation you get from both those heroes it's just fantastic.

I don't think Koreans started it, everyone noticed it. !@#$, I am not into number crunching meta, but she's obviously beast and has been from day 1.
wow his mouse sensitivity is too high

I love you :)
I'm glad no one here's suggested Roadhog. He has no shield, and is better suited going on a one-man killing spree.
Truth is, the term "tank" in this game really means "front line bruiser." Not "stand there and soak up all the damage while your buds deal the damage." No, they're typically a different approach to DPS. Offense has high mobility to flank easily and get to places other heroes typically can't. Defense has area denial and are generally the most lethal of the heroes as a result. Also notice how every single one has a long range engagement option. Tanks are big and charge right in. Support is mostly battlefield and target manipulation and/or team sustain.

Reinhardt only fulfills the role of traditional tank because he's pretty much all melee with crap for movement capability, so his job is really to push on the enemy position with extreme durability via his shield. The fact that his team can shoot through it is a nifty tactical asset, but with time, experience, and coordination, it's turning out that shield is becoming a balance breaking point with the right setup in pub games. I'm not confident it won't get looked at sooner or later if a bastion-mercy-Reinhardt combo starts becoming common place or if Blizzard just won't carve out some work arounds to currently solid chokes on some maps, like Hanamura's A point (most heroes can't get to that little window next to the gate.)
Make it so every other projectile makes it through the shield, making Reinhardt more like the other bruiser tanks

Or...

create a new tank with about the same hp as rein + shield and give them a mechanic that allows them to soak damage that hit teammates

nerf rein or add more true tanks are the only solutions i think
