I dont think wanting to slap the chief developer of the game is going to solve anything.

I second that.

Pretty much and being aggressive and unprofessional about it only makes the rest of us look bad.
6 topics and still not a word from a Blizzard employee? Really? Good to know our plight is not of any concern i guess.

Well apparently because there aren't very many of us our opinions are unimportant.

According to steam hardware surveys though, 412,000ish people use ultrawide resolutions. Sure they probably all don't have blizzard accounts, but goes to show ;D

That's just 2560x1080 users, it doesn't take 3440x1440 users into account. I hope we start seeing those stats from Valve soon.

If we are even 1% of the 12 Million copies of OW sold, that's still 120,000 users dealing with motion sickness or black bars.
Even if we make up .1% that's still 12,000 people. 40 bucks a pop is $480,000 from that small percentage, so really the excuse that labor is too expensive is pretty crappy.
played a game little bit... It's amazing. Had play of the game and shieet as Tracer <3. BUT why i have to play it with BLACK BARS???!!! Im not gonna use 21:9 in game cuz i got me vomit once.

I dont get it blizzard. Why r u makeing such an amazing game and not support it properly?
I wanna slap u in the face, Jeff Kaplan!

ahahaaha. I guess you're right <3
As I've said before, it isn't about the number of 21:9 players; it is about the number of friends those players have, and the reputation hit Blizzard takes in the gaming media by refusing to budge on something the players want.

I mean, "Hey, sorry you got sick and can't play for more than 2 or 3 rounds because of the terrible solution we put in, but we want to avoid the tiny, episodic, entirely situational advantage you MIGHT have, so tough" isn't gonna play real well on sites that review and discuss 21:9 monitors. Like it or not, this will become a common theme among those types of sites.

---Don't discount the clout that the WSGF (Widescreen gaming forum) and their "approved" medals have. I (and many others I know) have went to that forum and bought games based on that endorsement (back when I had NV Surround).
it's so annoying to play with 2.5 inch blackbars on each side of my screen so i can have the same FOV as other players, please fix this. I honestly can't believe blizzard has made such a big deal about this minute issue, just let it go, it's just ANNOYING!
I find it amusing they put what is actually more work into generating a lazy solution that looks really bad. (Upscaled 16:9 to 21:9)
I'm quite tired of this dragging on.

Every update I pray that they've changed the 21:9 "support". Every update I am disappointed.
HOW can u do it to your own fans, Blizzard? We really don't care about "an advantage". We care about a proper gaming on our screens. We care about playn your game lol. That's all. Cannot imagine how a gameing company can be such an ahole and dont understand other gamers needs.

Had anyone from Blizzard tryed their implementation of 21:9? I dont think so cuz they'd get sick as we do.

What else can i write to change your mind, Jeff Kaplan?

(sorry but i REALLY wanna slap this guy in his face for being such a silent a-hole to us)

same here. OH A PATCH!!! stil no proper 21:9 support......... sigh.... ;(.... <crying alone and jerkin off to pornhub> <--- kidding
I will personally come down there and make ham sandwiches for the team while they work on the implementation.

If they buy the plane ticket.

And the ham.

Ill bring the bread tho, for real. Hit me up, Kaplan.

Apparently, the last few are still gone I believe.
Blizz, I play your game for fun. I played your competitive play mode for about 4 matches after the 10 placement matches because in a competitive game it's usually a very hostile environment which just isn't fun to play when you have people screaming at you for missing one shot with Widowmaker.

I've been using Quick Play ever since because I want to play the game for enjoyment. I am sure many others do the same.

Hence for those of us who just want to play for fun, we should not be denied the opportunity to play in what is fast becoming a standard resolution / aspect ratio without having to use a FOV which is not suitable for that resolution.

I would be interested to see what percentage of players participate in Quick Play matches and Competitive Play matches respectively as this would potentially allow us to see what proportion of people would actually care about the "competitive advantage" true 21:9 offers.

The truth is I bet if you were in a game with some users who were using 21:9 monitors with the correct FOV scaling, you wouldn't be able to tell which users were using the ultrawides. Your Dolby Atomos for headphones implementation is so good that I bet you would hear someone before you see them even with an ultrawide with correct horizontal FOV. And you include this as an option, when it is clearly an advantage to use it, and many people won't use it or even know it exists (I didn't for the first month!).

I would suggest allowing proper 21:9 support in Quick Play, and blocking the proper 21:9 support in Competitive Play. The only people who really care about a "competitive advantage" are those playing in competitive matches, I would argue.

Anyway I digress, get with the times and include REAL support for an aspect ratio which many, far more competitive games are already allowing with minimal complaints from their player base.

PS: You replaced a Tracer victory pose with an even more bootylicious version, do the same for 21:9 support and give it the extra junk in its trunk it so badly needs (I'm talking horizontal FOV of course).
Pretty stoked for 21:9 in battlefield 1, I get it free as my girlfriend is a software engineer at EA. I have battlefront and 21:9 in it just looks so damn epic. I'll take a long overwatch break at that point until 21:9 is supported.

Me too. I actually decided to go back to Battlefield 4 after they made all the DLC free and it's still one of the best multiplayer experiences out there (with flawless 21:9 support of course).
