"But sometimes we want things to feel rare and special."
That's whats contradicting.

Again, how is that contradicting? The system they have supports that model. Allowing people to buy the skins would remove that model. Making it pure random means that far fewer people will have the skins... thus rare and special. There's nothing wrong with what he said.

"But sometimes we want things to feel rare and special." [probably an explanation why you can't buy new items with credits] (c) Last Keplan post
Pretty direct contradicting.
One last bump for me for now, hope we can get a response sooner rather than later.

Dear child,

Summer loot boxes are a promotional item and exclusionary from coin purchases as a seasonal event. It is protected by law that Blizzard are well within their right to offer these items in this fashion. It's not false advertising or misrepresentation.

Grow up. Learn how laws work. Stop acting entitled.
The only rare and special things in this game are sprays unlocked from achievements. Those are the only things players can see and say wow - he/she earned that.

Everything else - dude just got lucky or has a tonne of money to waist.

Huh I was wondering who would make a continuation thread

Sidenote: The only AAA developer I've ever seen deliver on basically all its promises is CD PROJECT RED.

CD PRojekt Red are the most dedicated game dev ever IMO.

I don't really belive this is illegal. I just belive it's disgusting, bad behavior of greedy company and shouldn't be accepted.

They've answered the community, twice. Not their fault you aren't interested in them.

The topic was created after this message. We still want a clear answer why Kaplan lied to us in advertisment and what he going to do with this problem.

He didn't lie to you. YOU believe he lied to you. As far as what he's doing about the "problem", it's nothing. He said that, twice. This thread is a giant dead horse.

At least he will know, why game lost some part of player base.

If you want things to be rare and special, you don't go and then make said things something that anyone/everyone with enough money and spam at it until they all have it. Is that a hard concept for you to grab? If they wanted it to be truly rare and special, it would be boxes that one can only get through leveling up. This is... fairly simple logic to follow, not sure why people keep wanting to bring that up as a counter argument that it isn't contradictory.

You really don't have good critical thinking skills do you? How many people do you think are going to spend "enough money" to get all the skins they want. Purchasing boxes as the only spammable method pretty much guarantees that the skins are more rare than if they were purchasable by coins. That is really not a hard concept to follow. People willing to spend spammable money will be less than people buying via credits. Follow? Good, now we can move on.

It is hilarious to me that some people read "Loot Boxes have a chance to contain credits you can use to acquire any specific cosmetics you want." and still argue this isn't being dishonest.

OW is at 15 million players. YOu really think all this whining on the forum is going to do ANYTHING to that number?? At all? Let me cut to the chase, it won't and they know this. Forums are where the most emotional go. They are always the minority of the population. Even if every single person in these threads stopped playing the game they would lose not even 1%. Not even 1%.

So, again, not a loss at all.

We obviously know that if it's illegal, blizzard wouldn't have risked it. Thanks for that, captain obvious. Lying to customers, making misleading claims == disgusting business practice. Just because it's within legal rights != doesn't mean that it's correct.

It depends on your definition of "any". Entitled people think that "any" means "all". The grownups know what "any" really means.

And could you back up your claim that "People willing to spend spammable money will be less than people buying via credits" using statistics from past business models or research??

It's hilarious to me you are so stupid you can't understand this is a seasonal/promotional event that has every right to be exclusionary. It's not dishonest. It's common business practice to have exclusionary items during big sales. Lots of stores do this where certain items do not qualify for discounted prices, or trade ins, or similar processes.

I just don't understand how so many people are so stupid.

Just because you want all content and have no respect for season items being exclusionary doesn't mean you deserve them. Just because you and your 12 friends can scream non stop "I want it I want it I want it" doesn't mean you deserve it in the slightest.

Get over yourself. It's not dishonest. It's not illegal. It's not even in poor taste.
If bli$$ard would listen to community, we would have already decent (atleast) 60hz servers and 21:9 support, instead of greedy casino boxes..

Let me be simple: The complaints are because people are not able to use coins. Do you see these people giving in and using money to buy boxes for the chance of the skins? It's extremely simple to understand the difference in economies(sp) based on using a free resource to buy something vs using money for the CHANCE to get something. It's why "rewards" programs have taken off in regular businesses.

I don't said this is a big part of player base. Maybe not even 1%. But this Summer items just a start. Sooner or later this road will lead us to broken promise of free maps and heroes, and we get a "rare" and "special" paid hero or game mode. So we must show, that community of the game is not just a silly dolls, who can accept and eat any !@#$ that Blizzard produce, and won't accept this attitude. Maybe losing even small part of auditory will make Blizzard rethink some of their decisions.
