Hey guys I came up with another idea for Mei's Cryofreeze in another thread and I really wanted to see what you guys thought.

What if Cryofreeze had a variable cooldown from 3-12 seconds depending on how much she's used it
, like the wall. SO:

-up 25% of the duration (1 second or less use), 25% of the cd (3s)
-up 50% of the duration (~1-2s use), 50% of the cd (6s)
-up to 75% use (3 seconds), 75% cd (9s)
-More than 75% use (3+ seconds), full cooldown (12s)

What do you all think? I'd really like to see a change like this for Cryofreeze, even not exactly this but just someway for the usage to be tied to the cooldown.

It would not only do something to fix the stunning-out-of-cryo thing, but would also allow Mei to heal more, and therefore tank more. Would also present Mei players with more choices to make, expanding her skill ceiling.


That'd be waaaay too overpowered, considering that you use cryo quite often to bait abilities such as flashbang, rein charge, roadhog hook and even d.va ult.

Baiting those skills can happen with a 1 sec cryo, and making it so you could do that every 3 seconds would be far too strong.

Yeah I suppose, perhaps it would be better to instead make cryo heal faster/last longer, reload ammo and reduce the cooldown to 8 sec. It wouldn't fix the stun issue, but the improvements would overall make the ability feel a lot better I'm sure.
I had a rare situation the other day. Just as I froze someone, they got slept by Ana and their body fell to the ground ruining the freeze/headshot combo. I feel like a frozen body shouldn't fall to the ground until after they thaw out.

If you'd like cryo in this direction, I think having a resource bar with 6s cooldown would be better. However, the raw values of the ability also have to be toned down to compensate for its flexibility. Something like 3s maximum and 15s recharge

I swear trying to use cryo to dodge hook actually makes Meis hitbox bigger.

Whenever the enemy has a hog they pretty much NEVER miss me. I mean I may be high masters so the hogs here are good, and Mei is essentially the size of a tank so she's an easy target... But HOW DO THEY NEVER MISS

I wouldn't be surprised if the cryoblock somehow extends as a hitbox, kind of how you can shoot where genji was before his dash to damage him

Slow it down and you will notice Mei has been hooked when the ice block was up

Not really, tracer still gets hooked. She can potentially break LOS though, negating the hook.

Would be more comparable to putting up a wall between you and hog right as his hook hits.
Who is keen for this buff which won't change a thing about mei And will keep her in f tier because she's so overbearing :)?

Edit: why is mei considered overbearing when not used in any rank but sym is the actual overbearing one that low ranked players think is op. Yet one gets better buffs than the other (or so I assume from whatblizz has said )
It's not latency, because then only Mei should be able to see Cryo-Freeze getting activated, and not Roadhog and teammates as well.

Mei's Cryo-Freeze doesn't has a cast time, so it's not designed to be an interrupt able ability.

So this is definitely a bug.

So what could be the cause of it?

If is not depending by server tick rate then probably is a bug in the Mei's code

I had so many moments when I totally grabbed her, saw all the visuals and she still was able to escape.
Yikes, that's a HUGE list of buffs. I think that would make her a little broken. The slowdown plus 150 damage headshot as well as the utility the wall gives the player quite an easy "Combo". Im not sure what the damage falloff is currently but I think that Mei is a more close to mid range hero with her team utility coming from her walls.

I like the Idea of the Ice Cube reloading ammo as she's in it, but getting time back for canceling it would make her more of a problem in stall fights. Reaper can't cancel his wraith form for a reason, but Mei's Ice Cube can also heal her. Giving time back would cause more problems then it would fix as it would allow Mei to be out of the fight more often instead of being in it.

I think Mei is sort of like Doomfist, not far off being balanced, but all the bugs that plague the character hold them back as a viable choice in a lot of situations because you don't even know if you will get the guaranteed value from abilities even if you land them.
