A person trying to win is not throwing. I wish people would stop abusing that term to mean “playing in a way I believe is not optimal” or even simply “playing badly”.

Let's be clear here and not confuse policy:

One Tricking is not bannable and should not be reported (it even says so in the text)

Throwing is bannable and should be reported. We appreciate your help here.

False reporting is bannable. Don't misuse the report system.

You sure? Because people seem to be getting kicked anyway and having to have it reverted from what we're aware of.
OTP is not a Ban able offense. Hooray!

Now people can play their Favorite characters

What's the stance if a person is effectively throwing with their hero pick in that situation and refuses to make changes to increase the chances of winning? e.g running Pharah into Cree/Soldier/Zen, attack Sym into Moira/Winston...
Situations where you can and most likely will be shut down every time, no matter what else your team picks to play around you, especially at higher levels.

He just said that being a one-trick isn't reportable.

That would mean that unless you're deliberately throwing, (i.e. Jumping off Cliffs, putting a Sym Teleporter further away from the objective), that playing a hero into a bad situation isn't a reportable offence.

What about off meta heros?

Depends, are they throwing? then report them. Are they actually playing the game, but not to your standard? If you report them, it'll be a False report, therefor a bannable offence, for you.

I swear some people will look for any excuse to try to get innocent people banned.

Just because someone is playing a Hero you don't like, doesn't make it a reportable offence, If that were the case, I would've been banned many times for playing Widow.

You aren't delivering justice, reporting a player for playing an off-meta Hero, you're just setting yourself up for a fall, as well as making yourself look like giant !@#$%^- in the process.

Your opinion does not constitute a rule. So it is not throwing.

How is playing one hero only not throwing though? If Symmetra is on attack or koth and constantly getting countered by Winston and Pharah, please tell, how is this not throwing?

One tricking off meta heroes in COMPETITIVE MODE seems very silly and stupid. and for sure its not very competitive and team oriented.

Jeff just stated, quite clearly that one tricking is not bannable.

That's that.

I love that you have no valid reasons at all.

Hey everyone: from now on, all of you pick dps only in comp! You can do it, Jeff clearly stated. Let's not focus on winning anymore! We can do it, Jeff just stated. What a wonderful competition.
Just because your team runs 6 dps doesn't mean they are not trying to win.

You cannot pass what your trying to win beliefs unto others

Except that the Game Director just re-affirmed that it isn't.

Try re-reading the post from Jeff you quoted.

It is true and can be working as well... in bronze to gold. In higher ranks teams with 6 dps against a good composition is pretty much screwed.

No, throwing is trying to intentionally lose the game. One tricks dont try to lose just by one tricking. Quite the contrary, they want to climb, but in their own way without regards to meta perception.

There's a problem here though. You have people one tricking unpopular heros, like Symmetra, and then 'soft throwing' games when they get on teams with certain people, pretending to try, but ultimately just concealing their throw. Fake Emongg was a great example. There's at least one other I know of in GM that does it, but I haven't seen him in a bit maybe he was also fake Emongg? This guy ruined HUNDREDS of games, literally hundreds if not more. I'm sure his defense to avoid bans was that he's just playing sym and people are salty about it.

Have you developed a way to deal with these sorts of situations going forward?
