Mar 13, 2011 PS3 and SC2 compatible headset? Hey, does anyone have a recommendation for a headset that would work for PS3 and SC2 on mac gameplay? Currently, I'm wanting to get a cell phone bluetooth like those made by sony for the ps3. My thinking is that is should also work with sc. As an added bonus, it would work with my cell phone which would be nice. This seems like a really cost effective solution for me, but I'm wanting input from people who possibly have a similar situation. Thanks in advance for your advice.Astatine5 Mar 13, 2011
Mar 13, 2011 Battle colours??? This may not be a Mac Tech question, But then again it may. I have somehow hit a setting that makes the battle colours i see, always be the same. I always appear the have green , my allies always yellow and the enemy always red.I have looked in all the game settings and cant find anything. This doesn't change my game play or how it runs. i just would like to have all the random colours back, after all variety is the spice of life.Merse1 Mar 13, 2011
Mar 13, 2011 Great job Blizzard I don't play often, but when i do, I prefer Dos Equis. But seriously folks, you do a great job, and the game rune great on middling hardware; so while i'm sure you get complaints from THOSE PEOPLE, there is a silent majority who appreciate the work you do. Mar 12, 2011 magic mouse and/or OSx acceleration curve I recently bought an imac and have tried to play sc2 with it but the mouse is just too unresponsive, slow, right clicks dont work properly. Now I have my PC under my table and hook it up every time I want to play...I was wondering what other peoples experiences are...do you play with a magic mouse? If not have you found that changing to another mouse helped? Any feedback is appreciatedDanimosity4 Mar 12, 2011
Mar 12, 2011 Making Mac Slow? I've got a somewhat decent mac, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M and 6 GB of RAM. This all SHOULD be sufficient to run SC2 on, at least, medium settings (which is what it recommends). However, it gives me really choppy framerates on medium so I settle on low (which is STILL choppy in some parts- especially whenever I'm viewing pylon power fields. I can only achieve a framerate of, say, 10-20 FPS) However, although SC2 runs okay, Firefox suffers whenever I run it- which has only been happening recently (after I installed 6 extra GBs of RAM I think). I usually have a tab or two open and it usually lags a bit before I can type anything (for instance, if starcraft 2 was running right now, it would take me probably ten minutes for all of this to process). Other applications, like itunes are not affected in the slightest. Are there any ways to fix this?Doodlebox4 Mar 12, 2011
Mar 11, 2011 SC2 2.1.2 Slows down to unplayable speed So.. I have an: early 2010 17" Mac Book Pro OS X 10.6.6 2.66 GHz i7 6gigs RAM @ 1067 MHz NVidia GeForce GT 330M What happens: Normally, I run teh game on native (1920x1200) with mostly medium settings.. and it runs around 12-15 frames per second during battles and such. All is well. But... it seems that after a lot of play... or sometimes even when just starting up... the FPS plummets... I had to switch all my settings to all low, and change my resolution to 1280x800 and I was still getting 6-8 fps without doing much, and then during battles < 2 fps... making it impossible to micro... Really frustrating, when you are running well, and then next ladder match, SC2 decides to stop rendering fast. One of my friends suggested that I may have run out of video memory? My card has 512MB.. and my normal setup used to run it fine... but... the lame 1280 @ low shouldn't cause a problem.. even if there was one initially with the 1920 @ medium... Aside for my email, and chat client, no other programs are running in StarCraft is running. Though I used to be able to also listen to iTunes, and have a few tabs in chrome open (as long as none had flash). TheLindyHop3 Mar 11, 2011

Mar 11, 2011 Patch problems I'm currently trying to download a patch for the Starcraft 2 game client, and it appears to just reset itself every time it gets to 100%. Has anybody else had this problem, and if so, how do I fix it?Alexander1 Mar 11, 2011
Mar 10, 2011 Control group 1-5 broken? After patching to 1.2, I can't seem to make control groups 1-5 anymore (using Cmd-1, etc), only 6 and beyond. Then I discovered I can use Shift-1 to make a control group 1. Anyone else experiencing this? I am using a MacBook Pro, thanks.Jasx8 Mar 10, 2011
Mar 10, 2011 Super low FPS after latest patch (1.2.2) Hi, I'm using an i7 mid-2010 macbook pro with the Nvidia 330m with 512mb of vram. This setup ran SC2 natively on OSX with the settings recommended in the "Mac Performance Tuning" sticky fine up until I got the latest patch. I never bothered to check FPS before, but it was pretty smooth so I assume it was somewhere >30. Now, with those same settings, I struggle to get 10-15 fps, and can only get around 25 or so on the lowest settings. It was so bad that I actually installed SC2 on my bootcamp partition and played it there last night, and I was easily getting 50-60 fps (my OSX software update is current, btw) I don't see many threads about this since the last patch, so is this something wrong with my settings? It was working fine for me last week. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.rurabe14 Mar 10, 2011
Mar 10, 2011 Custom Hotkeys Problem I have my control groups set up such that "~" is control group 1, "1" is control group 2, etc. but recently every time i log in the "create control group" gets set to "#" instead of "control-#" (such as 1 instead of control-1). I can't tell if this is the known issue reported in the sticky or not, so I'm posting a thread to see if anyone else is having this problem. I don't THINK That I'm having the broken full screen problem, so I don't know that this would be the same problem as the hotkeys problem reported in this sticky.Grindstyle3 Mar 10, 2011
Mar 10, 2011 hitpoint bars on pc's you can toggle on the hitpoint bars so they stay on. anyone found a way to do this with a mac? even better would be to only toggle on enemy hitpoint bars. the only way i know of now is the option key and the bracket keys that toggle them on as long as the key is held. Mar 8, 2011 4g+GT 330M lags at low (possibly found why) The title says it all. I must say I am pretty surprised. While the GT 300M is not a monster card, it is listed by blizzard as one of the cards that can run the game on high. And with that and 4 gigs of ram, the game is barely decent at low settings, and a real struggle at medium. Could the problem come from something else than the hardware? Regards. Edit : after various tests, it seems the shader setting is the one causing most of the performance issues.Pharax17 Mar 8, 2011
Mar 8, 2011 Black Screen w/ Music Hello, I have been playing SCII on my MAC OS X 10.6.4 since launch day. Haven't had a problem but no just recently I click the shortcut and when the game is suppose to load the screen goes black, shows the blue SCII curser, and plays the opening title music. When I (Command+M) I get the spinning wheel and it says application not responding on the dock icon. I have tried reinstalling SCII and going into my disk utility to verify disk permissions. Anyone have this problem that could help me out? Thanks!HasTeRaiN2 Mar 8, 2011

Mar 8, 2011 SC2 Tries to open while already open This is very hard to describe, but while running SC2 on my MacBook, the computer tries to open another version of SC2. So in the dock I will see the little SC2 button, and the dot under it (signifying that it is open). And periodically, another SC2 button with pop up next to it quickly, and then disappear. It does this consistently while I play, and I believe that it causes much unwanted lag. If anyone can help me with this issue, I would appreciate it.MrShowtime1 Mar 8, 2011
Mar 8, 2011 SC2 1.2.2 Standalone Download Link Broken I clicked on the Sticky and it led me to http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/35087 The downloads links have them pointing to the wrong files names. Mar 8, 2011 Recent problems with constant dropping. Hi. Pretty much a nooby here, but just recently I've started having problems with playing any type of multiplayer. I'm constantly lagging out and dropping. I've been playing sc2 on this machine for quite a few months now and have never experienced this. A bit of a lag, sure, but never dropping consistently. Oddly enough, this problem has lined up with another related to viewing streams. Commercials I see fine (ha! of course) but everytime I get into the actually streaming and start to watch, it usually freezes up and I have to refresh it. Tends to happen quite a bit. All this started as of yesterday afternoon. Sorry to say, i'm not sure what kind of imformation is needed to diagnose this problem. Let me know what you need, and ill try to find it. :) Thanks.Tipsyer2 Mar 8, 2011
Mar 7, 2011 Login crashing... I've been playing starcraft two for a good while now and all of a sudden after I take WoW off my computer it always crashes at the login. First of all when I initially click onto starcraft two i get an error that I need to be logged in as an Admin for the patch to apply properly. The problem with that is... I am logged in as an admin and I have tried logging out and back in several times. I've tried the repair system Blizz made and it gets me father into login but it still crashes and says I need to be logged in as an admin. Help?Dehdra2 Mar 7, 2011
Mar 7, 2011 Useless Maximized Windowed Mode in Mac! I'd like to use maximized window mode to switch between apps sometimes but when I play in the Windowed Mode (Maximized), it's impossible to scroll up without the OS's menu bar interfering with gameplay. Yes, the menu bar does hide itself but when you drag your cursor up the screen, it pops down thinking we want to use it and in turn, create a small lag spike and intereferes with gameplay. Are there anyway to completely disable the OS's menu bar (not the game's menu bar) when in game altogether? Thank you!ChRoNuS2 Mar 7, 2011
Mar 7, 2011 Playing Campaign on Multiple Computers Hi, I'm trying to play the SC II campaign on multiple computers (laptop and desktop). I thought my campaign progress would sync between them, but it doesn't appear to. For instance, on my laptop I have 25 missions complete (i.e. campaign completed), but on my desktop it shows only 18 missions complete. The number of achievements seems to be the same (23%). Is there a way to force my desktop to sync with Battle.net? Am I expecting the wrong behavior? Thanks.Qndrez3 Mar 7, 2011

Mar 3, 2011 Random Crashes I am aware that there were some issues with Nvidia chipsets that affected both WoW and Starcraft 2. While my crashes with WoW have completely stopped, they remain very consistent with Starcraft. This makes me think that it might be something completely different. I have gone through all the common troubleshooting tips I have seen on the forums with no luck. If you see anything that sticks out I'd greatly appreciate it. Mar 2, 2011 Watch the opening cinematic ... There was a (so-called) emergency when SC2 started up on my computer and I didn't get back to the house for another hour. I missed the opening cinematic, and would really like to see it. Googling for instructions mentions a Variables.txt file, but such a thing does not exist on my computer. So, how do I watch the opening cinematic again on my computer?ArdathSenjak2 Mar 2, 2011
Feb 28, 2011 Where are campaign saves stored in OS X? I've looked around in the ~/library folder and in the /Applications/Starcraft II but can't find any files with the names I'm expecting. Is there a bundle I need to open to get at my saved campaigns?Oakleyboy3 Feb 28, 2011
Feb 28, 2011 Can't Watch Downloaded replays. Help! (mac) Hey everyone I just downloaded a replay off of the interwebs and I have seen all the pathways used to reach the video to put it into the correct folder in order to watch it. So I am on my macbook, fully upgraded and all and here is how my pathway works: 1. I go to library 2. I go to Application Support -I do not see blizzard here, so I just search "Blizzard". 3. Find Blizzard file 4. Go to Starcraft II 5. I don't have an "account" folder. -Search for "account" folder, nothing comes up. Where do I go from here?! ThanksFrusciante10 Feb 28, 2011
Feb 27, 2011 Bug: OPTION Hotkeys dont load from battle.net If you remake your hotkeys using the OPTION key on the mac it works fine for that game. However if you close and open the client. The OPTION key get's lost. This makes OPTION+G into just G when reloaded. I assume that they are getting transferred back from battlenet and getting messed up there. I am using a Windows Key board on my mac. The Windows "ALT key" turns into "OPTION". Didn't see this on the known bugs list.Tzakie7 Feb 27, 2011
Feb 27, 2011 SC2 Mac digital download Installer issue Okay, I don't think blizzard is very friendly with Mac users with the current SC2 launch. Installing the game had been a real pain since its release on 7/27 10am pdt =( There seem to have a problem with the installer because everytime I try to open the installer.app, it asks for a DVD. I I thought the whole point of getting the digital download is to not have any physical dvds, box, or whatsoever. You know, I am big on the whole green and environment friendly concept. Well, so I kinda stayed up late trying to figure out how to get it installed. I am no technical savvy but it turns out that the whole installation process will begin if you save the whole SC2 installer folder under applications and run the installer.app under the application folder. Now, I know all you mac folks will have trouble posting question on this forum if you can't get the game install. I hope this helps and again I am really disappointed at Blizzard. Feb 27, 2011 Patch 1.1.3 - "waiting for files to close" I've downloaded the new patch, and it comes up with the Blizzard Updater saying "waiting for files to close" ad infinitum. This is so unfair to your Mac users Blizzard- we have experienced lower graphics/frame rates, random crashes, and patch issues on hardware that should be able to handle this game. I used to love Blizzard for the fact that they made games that operate -well- on many OS's; what the heck happened?KennyPowers2 Feb 27, 2011

Feb 26, 2011 Frozen at Load Screen I have been experiencing a freezing issue the past couple of months. Sporadically when I run SC2 it freezes at the load screen. I'm pretty sure it's SC2 and not my computer. When this happens, I can still play/pause the music playing (via keyboard), change the volume (via keyboard), but I cannot exit out of the loading screen. I have tried command +q, command + alt + esc, command +m - none of them work. The only solutions is to do a hard shut down. Has anyone else experienced this or have any insight? Thanks!Brewtus2 Feb 26, 2011

Feb 26, 2011 “Fullscreen” mode is windowed Any time I switch from “Windowed” mode to “Fullscreen” mode, it seems to instead be a floating “Windowed (Fullscreen)” mode, where (if OS commands aren’t disabled) I’m able to switch to other programs but not see them behind the game, until and unless I toggle between fullscreen modes as described here: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/1866386993?page=3#50. This seems to be the root of several other issues people have reported, but this isn’t mentioned under Known Issues, so I just wanted to make sure it’s known. PS: How do you link URLs in this forum?Frungi17 Feb 26, 2011
Feb 25, 2011 Issue with Battle.net sites It seems that if I log into my battle.net account while on the WoW site or the site of Battle.net to manage my account it kicks me off my account as soon as I go to another page within the site making it unable for me to add games/game time to my battle.net account or posting in the forums on the WoW site. It seems this is the only site where I can log onto my battle.net account and not be kicked off so I was hoping someone here could help me.Saviour5 Feb 25, 2011

Feb 23, 2011 Built-in MIC problem My built-in MIC went out during loading and in-game. I can still see the symbol for talking in the top-right-hand corner but my allies could not hear me. I couldn't hear any of my allies as well. Had to reboot sc2 to fix it. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, and how to remedy it. I did not mute anyone... Any thoughts? Feb 23, 2011 Getting the 1.2.1 PTR on Mac Hey, I'm running off a Mac and have been really wanting to get on the PTR to try out the new maps but I cannot for the life of me figure out how. It doesn't seem to be anywhere in Blizzard's FAQ's. How do I download the client for the PTR? (I posted this here because I'm pretty sure this is a Mac specific problem, or at least a problem that requires a Mac specific solution. If this is not the case, then I apologize and will relocate this thread to a more appropriate forum.)HenryGale2 Feb 23, 2011
