Jul 25, 2010 Forum Guidelines - Please Read Welcome to the StarCraft II discussion forums! This forum is here to provide you with a friendly environment where you can discuss all aspects of StarCraft II with your fellow players. Community forums work best when participants treat their fellow posters with respect and courtesy. Therefore, we ask that you take the time to read through the forum Code of Conduct before posting. Search The new search function at the top of the StarCraft II community site is extremely robust. Please be sure to use it to look for similar topics, blog posts, or web pages that may contain the answer before creating your forum topic. Making a new thread on an existing subject will likely result in your thread being deleted. If you continue to repost it you're likely to have your posting privileges suspended for spamming. Worst of all, you'll be making the other forum goers upset that you didn't take a minute to search before posting. Rating The new rating system can be used to promote positive discussion, and demote unhelpful posts, or even report posts that violate the forum code of conduct. By hovering over a post you'll be presented with a thumbs up, and a thumbs down icon. Clicking the 'thumbs down' icon you can choose from a few options. Dislike will rate the comment down. If enough people dislike a post it will be darkened, or with a lot of dislikes it will be hidden. You can also quickly report a post as trolling or spam, or use the report function to fill out a more comprehensive description of the violation. You can only rate each post once. Use it wisely to help foster a positive and helpful forum community. Guidelines In addition to the forum Code of Conduct, here are some common courtesy guidelines to follow. While these do technically fall within the bounds of the Code of Conduct, these cover more specific examples of common errors that will lead to thread deletions or posting privileges being revoked. The StarCraft II forums are for discussion of topics directly related to StarCraft II The forums here are specifically to discuss the game and related topics. Any topics not related to StarCraft II, Battle.net or Blizzard are subject to deletion. Don't post in all capital letters, use a misleading title, excessive punctuation, non-standard symbols, etc. While everyone wants their posts read, we ask you to refrain from using these types of tactics in order to bring more people to your thread. Let your post stand on its own merit. Threads violating this guideline are subject to deletion. Using the words Blizzard, Blue, or any community team members name in a thread topic is frowned upon Everyone would like Blizzard to read and acknowledge his or her post, and we understand that. However, use of such words in the topic does not help that come to pass. Please make your thread title relevant to the post subject. Threads violating this guideline are subject to deletion. Posting "First" or IBTL constitutes as spamming You will be suspended if you create a post that is intended to call out that you achieved a specific reply number in a thread. This is considered spamming. Posting IBTL (in before the lock) is not helpful and if you feel a thread should be moderated please use the rating button to do so. Do not bump posts The act of posting simply to bump a thread is considered spamming. This also includes bumping very old threads for no reason (called 'necro bumping' or 'necroing'). Petition posts are frowned upon These are discussion forums, and as such we ask that you hold discussions. Creating a thread to ask for replies as votes is not a discussion. Threads violating this guideline are subject to deletion. Do not post about locked or deleted threads Posts that are moderated have a reason behind the moderation. It's up to you to read the forum code of conduct and these guidelines to determine what you did wrong, learn from your mistake, and attempt to post again without breaking any rules.Bashiok0 Jul 25, 2010
19h Unit Composition to Deal with Protoss Air Hi all, I'm extremely new to the Multiplayer portion of StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void and I play Random as I always have with any RTS. Yesterday I played my third ever Online public match (Unranked) and got Zerg against a Protoss opponent. Long story short, my opponent defeated me after about 20 minutes with Carriers, a Mothership, and Void Rays. I believe he had something like eight Carriers and a similar number of Void Rays, give or take. I made many, many mistakes in this game, one of the chief being not properly scouting early enough to realize how weakly defended he and his expansions were, and I didn't micro well as I've been trying to focus on improving my macro game. This resulted in my forces at points focusing on Interceptors instead of actual Carriers. Our economy was similar by the end of the game; same number of bases, though his supply was higher; he was at 198 and I was around 160-something. So I certainly have improvements to make, but my question for this long winded post is as Zerg, generally, what's the best unit composition to tackle a force like he fielded? I went with Corruptors and Hydralisks. Should Mutalisks have been mixed in as well? Would Vipers have helped at all (I've never used them outside of the Campaign)? Thanks for your responses!Juxtapose16 19h
1d ZvZ - defending 14 pool 13 gas Low Plat - I went 17h/18g/17p and he went 14p/13g. Around the 2 minute mark I see a parade of lings coming in and my pool isn't finished. I canceled my hatch, built 2 spines in my main and let me queen finish. I lost most of my D in his first push and I'm wondering how I should have reacted. Should I have let the 3rd finish to keep him busy until I could build more D? Did I just simply react wrong? I know I made a lot of mistakes after that but I was just winging it. I meant to build a RW instead of a BL nest but obviously hit the wrong key. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. http://sc2replaystats.com/replay/4906062Lokei5 1d
1d LOTV zerg openings So I just started getting the hang of HOTS openings and now I'm a bit thrown off. can anyone help me? find me some sources. some videos. or just some hints. I would greatly appreciate it.. so fr i've been going 13Overlord 16 hatch 16 pool and bulding off thatSorrowsFall23 1d
1d When to take a 3rd If nothing super fast or out of the ordinary is spotted what is a generally accepted good timing to drop a 3rd? I typically play 17h/18g/17p. 19 OL, 2 queens and 3 sets of lings at pool (4 lings at nat, 2 to scout / tower / sit at the nat ramp to watch move-outs). At that point I drone up my nat, build 2 more queens for D / creep and wait for my nat to be 16/16 before expanding. Once my nat is 16/16 I get more gas, rw, expand, etc. I've seen a lot of streams and comments where the 3rd is made around the 30 - 33 supply mark. I tried this a few times and it did slow down my 3rd/4th queen a bit but overall that wasn't a major issue to the build. Just trying to see if 30-33 is a good time to take the 3rd or if there are any good rules / standards for when to expand after the nat. Thanks in advance.Lokei4 1d
1d Swarm host I know Terran scream that they op but I think it is weak. Biggest flaw of sh is that locust has no mobility. Then for 25 secs it is useless pop I feel if you cut the duration and cool down in half. Double the flight speed so you keep distance same. This would reduce dead time in half. Now how do you solve slow locust can't increase speed than that would be strong. Solution have an ability to hatch locust inside swarm host. It would have speed swarm host and fire power of locust for 9 secs but forces you to put sh in the front of the line.lonedog2 1d
1d Help with what to do Mid-game (vs All) I'm recently hit a losing streak, and I'm starting to realize that it's because I have fairly certain that I'm not working my mid-game well. Once I've gotten past my lair up, I'm stuck of what to do. Usually my attempts at producing a spread of military and drones usually ends with me behind on both fronts. Take this replay for example: http://sc2replaystats.com/replay/4891976 I'm not sure where I went wrong, but he ended up with 20+ supply ahead of me despite being even most of the game. I'm lucky he didn't have any hydras or air defenses, otherwise I'm quite certain I would have lost. Any help would be appreciated!SniffySundew1 1d
2d vs. Terran 1-1-1 all in Any tips for scouting/defending against this all in, usually made up marines/tank or cyclone/banshee I'm usually on my third base when it hits, what should I tech to to crush this attack? If I see factory tech I usually build roach but if I build too many I'm behind economically and I still barely hold off the attack. And if I drone a little too hard I auto die to it. Any help?Finn1 2d
2d Replays : how can I improve ? Hello. I'm a (somehow) gold league zerg player. I've first tried the game back in 2013 but I was only playing casually, stoping and coming back sometimes, never trying to improve, was just chilling with friends. I'm seriously playing for a month now, and I still lose most of my games against anyone really. I've uploaded a few replays of my games, if you could advice me, tell me what l'm doing right and wrong l would really appreciate it. Thanks ! http://drop.sc/replay/4889880 http://drop.sc/replay/4889899 http://drop.sc/replay/4889902 http://drop.sc/replay/4889904 http://drop.sc/replay/4889897 http://drop.sc/replay/4889894Feitan7 2d
4d what hotkey unselects active tumor? If you select a tumor and click where to put it, how do you unselect it? searching the forums says you can't unselect units in starcraft. (sure you can shift click the item) but there must be a way to spread a tumor and deselect it without destroying it by hitting esc (i tried a lot of stuff but to no avail). puulleeaze QQ.BilboBagins3 4d
4d Baneling widow mines Banelings should have a option that can turn them into a widow mine, but be only used once. Just like there is a option for banelings to attack structures there should be a option to turn into a land mine. So first a baneling needs to burrow in a place of it's choosing. After that activate the baneling mine. Once activated the baneling mine cannot be canceled or moved to any other location. It will stay at that same place till destroyed. While being a mine it will have a range of 3. So anything that gets in it's range, the baneling will detonate. Currently banelings have self detonation and have given no results. It is almost impossible to land a successful self detonating baneling. This is the next best thing. Since terran has widow mines, toss has stasis ward. zerg should have baneling mines.monster6 4d

5d What units beat a marine So in unit tester I've tried 10 muta vs 1 marine and the marine wins. Same with 5 banes. When I used 3 ultra I came close but it didn't work (these are maxed out Ultra vs a single 0/0 marine). The only time I could beat the single marine was to have 300/200 broodloards (use oversupply trick) along with 25 queens transfusing them. This works but I'm wondering if there's any other methods.BilboBagins0 5d
5d Zerg Versus Terran Tips Hello all, Here's a replay of a recent game I played against a Gold level Terran: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdSLd9EbUoo Replay download in the description. I'm very pleased with how I handled my opponent's first attack; usually I don't last this long against a good Terran opponent, and I generally find Terrans difficult to deal with in general. One thing I've noticed in Unranked, at least at my level, is that many players don't scout beyond your natural in the early game, though my opponent did here (though his Reaper did see a Drone leaving my main). Thus my first major mistake in this match was simply not expanding to my natural, and sooner. I also know I overextended/committed to trying to take down his second expansion's Command Centre which cost me too much of my army. Lastly, instead of a Hydralisk Den, I should have went for an Infestation Pit for Fungal Growth against his mass Marines. Especially when they were pushing up my ramp at the end, that would have been a perfect spot to use it. Any other tips/constructive criticism? Thanks!Juxtapose13 5d
6d Reapers vs Zerglings Dear blizzard overlords, Lings vs Reapers is a joke. In Armani vs. Byun it was like 64+ lings to 2 reapers lost. I'm not even sure what micro the ling player can even use. Armani pinned the reapers with lings against a wall and then byun is like "meh" mines to get out? Regen, comeback, cliff jump, yawns. At least take away mine "Jump up" so if the lings pin the reapers they die but lings get hurt. Isn't that fair? Please explain to me why Reapers need to have: 1) Speed almost as fast as SPEEDlings!?! 2) Regeneration 3) Mines, that hurts buildings!?!? and POPS up units!?!? 4) Cliff Jumping 5) Extreme Micro-ability What other units has THAT much stuff without upgrades? Why does this "harrass" unit NEED to be EVERY purpose + scouting?TwPrcntMlk2 6d
6d (z-x) vs (p-p) cannon rush + proxy I just had an interesting match vs two Toss! (Z-P) vs (P-P) One tried to cannon rush me and I killed off his probe on two attempts, then he just cannoned the exp zones and went for my team mate as he clearly didn't see my 500 warnings for cannon cheese, or text. I didn't care because I can just work towards a nydus as he wastes resources pumping cannons outside my entrance. The other protoss enemy built a proxy zone while his team mate pushed cannons up and just pumped out units to kill off my drones. I couldn't fight it off vs two toss as my income just shattered. I was able to fight off a few attacks with lings, drone blocking, and my Queen, but having two toss pumping out units while no income coming in is an instant economy killer, especially when my team mate is trying to fight off the cannon rush on his side. Sadly I didn't have enough money to proxy hatch... Any idea what to do in this case other than auto concede? I have no problem in 1v1 on this as I keep vision with overlords and use drones early to fight this off. Sadly in 2v2 if you don't work together it's gg in my opinion to any coordinated all-in attack against you.UkrGamer2 6d

May 19 Harassing and Defending Harass How do I harass properly and how do I defend a harass? I've been having lots of trouble with defending harassment and harassing, I never harass and when I get harassed im never ready for it and my workers end up dying and it costs me the game. Any advice?clayn1 May 19
May 19 burrowed units should not take damage Any zerg unit that is buried should not receive splash damage at all. Realistically speaking this should be the case for anything burrowed. Or at least significantly reduced splash damage by at least 80 - 90 percent. So if I were to have a group of lings in the ground it should take 1 tank at least 8 shots to wipe out 10 zerglings.monster18 May 19
May 17 Anyone know good strats against Terran? How do I fight a Terran that goes either bio or mech? I know for bio banelings and zerglings are key but I don't want to make ONLY zerglings and banelings. Whats a good army composition for fighting mech?clayn4 May 17
May 17 I Neep Help With Scouting I know how to scout with Overlords, Creep Tumors and Zerglings but how about scouting in general. Like scouting your enemy's base. For an example when i see a star port with tech lap researching something its most likely cloaked Banshees or mass Ravens. Is there any more clues i should know about when im scouting so i know what my opponent it doingSizzlinMelon1 May 17
May 16 Injects and You: beginners guide Hello all, Here's a step by step guide for new zerg players of how to properly abuse the mechanics of stackable injects for maximum effectiveness. To begin, go to the menu in the LOTV main screen, then options, hotkeys, to the global tab, and open the "unit management" section. Go down to "choose ability or A.I. target." You will then add an Alternate hotkey, leave the primary alone as you do need that. I set my alternate to "T." You have now a new mechaniccalled "rapid fire." Anything bound to T will instantly select as its target whatever your mouse is hovering over as long as you hold down that key. This allows the ability to be triggered very quickly as each time it recognizes the command it determines its target instantaneously, allowing many actions to be taken in a small fraction of a second. There are many abilities this is useful with, but for brevity I'm only here to talk about Injects. So now you will go to the Zerg Tab, select the queen, select Spawn Larvae and set its alternate hotkey to your rapid fire key, whatever your choice for the equivalent of my "T" was. Keep its primary key bind if you would like, it really should not cause many conflicts. Now, to inject all you have to do is hit your go to base key- which I rebound as caps lock for quickness, but is normally set to backspace- select your queen, hover your mouse over the hatch and hold down T. In a half second your queen will now be commanded to dump all her energy into injects on that hatchery. No repeated selection of skills or multiple clicks, its all done right then with minimal effort. Continued next post.....AnAppropriat6 May 16
May 16 When do I Make Attacking Units Whenever i play as Zerg ill sometimes be attacked at the 5:00 mark or even less. Since i don't start making an Army until i have at least 60-70 drones. I have nothing. Yes i do have the Watch Tower and an Overlord to spot the attack, but sometimes its just to late. And if i make units blindly those are all wasted minerals and gas that could've been saved Somehow. I see other "Pro Gamers" making units at the right times SOMEHOW!!!. Am i not getting enough info i need to know when the attacks are coming. Or am i just trash at making drones. I think i could go to platinum league because my APM(Action Per Minute) is way higher than gold league players. My APM is roughly around 80-90(Almost 100)APM and my queen injects are spot on. My money spending could use some work but that's not the point. If i could knew when to Drone and when to make attacking units I would be in platinum. Also when i scout what am i looking for exactly or what am i not looking for. Am i even looking for something at all? All these questions will also help my answer my previous questionSizzlinMelon4 May 16
May 15 Is the creep speed boost a hidden nerf ? To the overall race ? What I mean by that is : Do we have like 90% of every other race's speed on clean ground and 100+ on creep, which means it's a nerf and the game forces us into additional management that is not needed for any other race to perform as well (when it comes to movement speed at least) or Do we have 100% speed on normal ground, and 100+ on creep, which means creep is then a buff and rewards players who do take time to spread it and manage it correctly while not being a handicap to those who do not ? Thanks for your answersFeitan2 May 15
May 15 Defeated my First Gold Opponent I defeated my first Gold opponent today, which has me feeling quite proud. I still have much to learn about the game as this was only my 14th ever public Multiplayer match (Unranked), but this was fun. I was very, very surprised my opponent GG-ed out, though after watching the Replay I see that he pretty much went for an all-in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogcIxpq2epo Replay link in the description for anyone who wanted to watch the match that way.Juxtapose3 May 15

May 13 New maps... Resources per base Posted bout this in general, but I'd like the zerg populations opinion. I'm sure some of you noticed that some bases from the new map pool deviate from the standard of 8 mineral patches and 2 gasses. What is the general opinion on this and has it effected anyone's builds and strats, if so how?NoNoUDo2 May 13
May 12 Basic Zerg Fundamentals Hi all, As I mentioned in this thread here: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/sc2/topic/20754795421 I'm having a hard time grasping the basic fundamentals of Zerg gameplay. I'm new to the Multiplayer game and have only played eight public (Unranked) Multiplayer matches thus far, so I've got a lot to learn. I also play Random, and I've gotten Zerg in five of those eight games (My record thus far is 4-4, with only one Zerg win). With both Terran and Protoss, I never find myself asking what to build or what to do. I make mistakes no question, but I feel I understand their general fundamentals, both attacking and defending, drops, harass, expanding, etc. This is not the case with Zerg at all. So: 1) Generally speaking, in the early game, how does one decide between Roaches and Banelings? 2) Also in the early game, what's a good number of Queens to spawn? I've generally been doing about four so I can Spawn Larva and lay down a few Creep Tumours. 3) In another thread I was told Zerg does not really have early game harass, so what are some good cues from your opponent to know that you should go attack with your early Zerglings and either Roaches or Banelings? 4) In the early game, am I correct that Ravagers are the Zerg's best option to dealing with wall-ins and Siege Tank emplacement? This is laughable but true: in every game I always, always forget that this unit even exists. It's the only unit in the entire game I seem to actually forget about! 5) For Protoss and Terran, I have a good understanding of the use for and when to build each of their special ability (caster) units, but not for Zerg. Can anyone give me a rough rundown of general uses for Infestors and Vipers? 6) Lastly, I have not bothered to build a macro Hatchery in my main, typically preferring to expand instead. Typically is one advisable (I used to all the time in Starcraft: Brood War, but I find the Zerg play _very_ different in the sequel). Those should do for now. In time with more experience, and since Random loves giving me the Race I should have lots of practice, I'm hoping I begin to recognize the cues for when to attack, tech, and what to build with the Race. Thanks for your replies in advance!Juxtapose3 May 12
May 11 All Things Zerg Hello, I made this awhile ago, and updated it the other week to reflect the current meta. http://www.allthingszerg.com/ If you don't want to do those builds, you can always use 17 Hatch, 18 Gas, 17 Pool, 30 Hatch. The scouting information and reactions are the same.Cereal3 May 11
May 10 Terran All-in (Helpful Guide) Scouting information * Look for rush tech 3-5 barracks and/or early e-bays before 2-3min mark. * At 5min mark send OV to be sacrificed for scouting info. * Most Terran timing attacks/rushes push out around the 4-5min mark, so scouting is necessary during this time. Note: Option 1: 4-5min mark send OV to be sacrificed for scouting info. If OV dies immediately then it's likely a rush. Note: Option 2: 4-5min mark send 2-3 lings to poke in at the main wall-off. Terran naturally may over commit and attack with its full force giving you precious scouting information and optimal time to get ready back at home. Build order 1) 12 pool cheese will likely kill a Terran All-in/timing attack if scouted early. In order for Terran All-in/Timings to work they must build a lot of tech/buildings early on... ah but this means less units early on! A perfect time for you to attack if you can scout this; again, early on. Note: Don't be a virtue player, sometimes cheese is an appropriate counter. It may seem dirty but what's also dirty is him turtling and going for early rush tech to kill you. 2) 3 hatch before pool. We are going back to HOTS days here but it's a perfect build for dealing with timing/All in aggressions. The philosophy behind it is that it lends to the strength of Zerg having more hatcheries - means having more units - means having better defense/offense; especially early on. Note: Never try to out tech Terran, they will always have more powerful units, especially in the late game; that's just the strength of that race. But remember Terran/Protoss can NEVER out macro you which is the strength of Zerg. Note: Never go 17,17,17 against a rushing Terran. This is a standard opening for Zerg in almost any beginner build you'll learn in LOTV but it's not optimal against an aggressive rushing Terran.Pumpkin0 May 10
May 9 Meed help with ZvP Hi guys, I've mained Protoss since the game came out, but I've been mainly offracing as zerg recently. I suck (low silver) but it's ok, it's fun to play another race. Anyways, I hadn't played protoss in a while, and the metagame has changed with LOTV, so I'm having trouble dealing with mass adept pressure. I tried getting roaches but can't seem to be able to defend well with them. Eventually I chase the adepts off or kill them, of course, but in the meantime they have decimated my workers count... Another thing is that I often go roach hydra, but then it's really hard to deal with Disruptors (guess I should switch into broods against that but it's not easy) Any advice about the issues I mentioned or ZvP in general would be appreciated.niteowl7 May 9
May 9 Zerg creep problem So when creep goes down hill it gives me full vision wherever creep goes, but when creep goes up hill the creep spreads, but does not grant vision so I cannot keep placing creep up hill unless I send a unit to go up hill so I have vision so I can put another creep tumor. Does this make sense? I just find this very annoying that I have to send a ling over there when the creep goes uphill so I get vision so I can put another creep tumor. This isn't a problem when creep goes down hill. Now there are those plants that block vision. I don't have a problem with this because the idea is that your not suppose to get vision when there are those vision blocking plants. Please patch this so creep grants vision when it goes uphill.monster5 May 9
May 9 Carriers - Multiplayer & lower tier (I think) the game's focus has always been the 1v1 matchup as opposed to the multi-player games. As well as top tier 1v1 games. However, the strategy in lower tier (ie. platinum and lower) and in any multi-player game is often mass carrier. We've started to see it commented on and used in pro-level matches as well where they see a carrier or two and the toss opponent knows they're against a clock to kill the toss before they mass these things with the mothership. I think it's a strategy that negatively affects lower tier games and the multiplayer game - also it seems to be affecting the pro games - if they know that they pretty much have to resign if they let this happen. I don't know how to fix it - I've seen the toss answer that they are the weakest race currently, so they have to have this option - but they have to admit that this is a low skill option of gameplay: Perfecting a route to carriers and the nuclear option on each map... For the multiplayer and lower tier games, I might suggest the following possible fixes for zerg (I'm a zerg player): - Make the viper parasitic bomb do 120 damage and in a larger area vs. massive. (In 1v1 play: a skilled player should be able to separate it's carriers) - Bring back the corruption ability for corruptors (why did that go?). Caustic spray is cool too. BC have 2 abilities now. Why not make corruptors have 2 abilities?TheEther3 May 9
May 9 Counter to Disruptors? Split! There, I beat you to it. If you have no other input apart from that one revolutionarily original piece of advice, you're welcome to leave. So I gotta learn a counter to these things as Zerg, they are doing me a stress. Splitting's all well and good and I'm trying to get better at it, but are there any other hard/soft counters I could invest in? I know 'don't make Lurkers' is a good idea, what about trying to focus down and kill the Disruptor before the thing goes off? I know if it dies, the bomb fizzles. Should I swing to air if I see a robotics bay go down? Set up flanks and try and kill it when it fires off the bomb/retreats? Should I invest in killing it above all else or should I completely ignore it after it's used it's ability(and accept it might get away and recharge)? Dive into their army so it can't be used effectively without friendly fire? If splitting's really the one and only good strat, that's fine. I just don't want anyone wasting everyone's time by suggesting it since it's the go-to strategy against any AoE damage; trust me, I've already considered it.TheSwarm3 May 9
May 9 am i doing this right? hey brood masters, i am mainly a toss player but i've noticed i'm not using the abilities enough, i've been trying to train myself by using strictly casters. here's what i have for hotkeys. 1= Hatcheries sometimes i've noticed i'm kinda panicking and scrambling my hotkeys to use the proper abilities when i'm attacked, with this i'm bound to lose units before the ability activates, this is a fail-safe. 2&3=first and second groups of swarm hosts this as i've found out is a necessity for multiplayer, i could get away with a singular hotkey on HOTS as there is room for error and no "twice as long as locust life" cooldown, but in multiplayer there is none, so one group spawns, after they expire or a dangerous unit gets by that i worry about (thor, ultra, colossi, etc)(or a unit i can't just yank back in front of the locust with a viper) i'll spawn the second wave early, for this should i keep an extra group of swarm hosts? 4=corruptors swarm hosts (unfortunately) can't cover air, so i keep these handy, their caustic spray is handy too, (but kinda slow). 5=vipers these guys i added so i can yank enemies in front of the locusts and protect my swarm hosts, parasitic bomb's fun too. 6=overseers quite the necessity though i would literally only do it for contamination. another reason why i'm doing this is so i can train myself off the F2 key, which i use way too much, am i doing this correctly?Awesomov4 May 9
May 9 Swarm hosts I'm a returning player and I just wanna ask if swarm hosts are still used and how? Lol thanksShuKoN2 May 9
May 9 How does Zerg beat siege tanks besides BL? Title. I always lose to them if I cant get BL out in time. Mutas dont work because terran always has: Missile turrets, Marines, Thors protecting them.KingAzaz25 May 9
May 7 BattleCruiser Helion Hi, I just lost to BC rush with Blue Helion support late game. So im kinda stumped as to the corrrect way to face this. I tried massing hydras, but with baneling support, the helions ripped thru them too quickly that i didnt have enough to take on the BCs. Lings didnt work too well either cuz they just warp back lol. Im honestly kinda stumped cuz id assume the corruptors or mutas would be too low in dps but idk. Any help would be appreciated thanks!ShuKoN6 May 7
May 5 Cannon Rush (4 Step Guide) Zerg Scouting information * Be aware of the map. (short rush distance). * Watch for early scouts, usually before 1min mark. (You should never see a probe arrive at your base before the 1min mark if you do then something stinks in Denmark). * Look and see where the probe is headed. (If they make a B line towards your cliff then it’s a cannon rush. You may also see a probe headed for your base but don’t see it enter your base then it’s likely a cannon or other proxy rush). Reaction/build 1) If a pylon is dropped do NOT attack it. (Never attack a pylon or proxy gate! Before 2min mark cannon’s should take priority over everything). Note: If he drops a pylon then drop a spin ASAP near that pylon so he can't go back and drop a cannon once it finishes. 2) If canon is dropped take 4 drones and IMMEDIATELY attack it. (Pylons are fine but a cannon should NEVER be allowed to finish). Note: Say you let a pylon finish and he drops multiple cannons then IMMEDIATELY attack the pylon. 3) Trail the probe. (Just simply grab a drone or two & click on the probe. This helps zone out the probe and it forces some unnecessary micro out of your opponent). 4) Zone out drones or spins to potential drop areas. (Usually behind your gasses or right beside your ramp). Note: Also another scenario he may try to contain you outside your natural. (Just build up to 8 roaches and push out or get to your Nydus network). Remember defending cannon rushes is all about reacting almost perfectly, so if say you didn't scout it or reacted wrongly then just GG and leave. Look it happens even to Pro's. You'll see SOS cannon rush people in GSL matches. Just take away from the experience and do better next time.Pumpkin0 May 5
May 4 Getting back into Zerg from HOTS OK so I haven't really played SC since HOTS, but I am looking to get back into it. However, I am a little concerned as to what has changed since I have been gone. The last Zerg compositions I remember using were ling/bane/muta and then roach/hydra. How has the zerg meta changed, and what are some common strategies/unit compositions vs every match-up?GroinShark0 May 4
May 3 WTF Map pool! Every single map in this pool is 90% ledges. Just a big !@#$ you to every Zerg out there.Geo0 May 3
May 2 New to the game and new to zerg just bought the game on April 24th, and haven't stopped playing and becoming completely engrossed, been playing lots of 2v2 and 3v3 with some friends (1 has had the game since WOL and the other is generally just really good at strategy games) and i feel like I'm the stick in the mud, one pulling them down. So i went over to 1v1 (unranked of course) to see how well i do alone, and so far its been non stop losses, So i like Terran, much prefer zerg and really don't like the protoss, and I'm really wondering how i can improve, other than play and play until you cant play anymore.. and then play some more. I'm currently watching Lowko for a few ways to improve but even when I'm pulling everything i have, i cant seem to pull out a 1v1 victory. Please help a poor ZerglingSgtTodd3 May 2
May 2 Zerg can't stop carriers Honestly, the only way to stop this as zerg is to stop it before they get to this point. Even with mass corruptors they still get shredded by carriers. Even with support, with queens, vipers, etc. it's incredibly hard to stop carriers. And worse is that it's a complete A move across the map. I don't complain about Balance....EVER, not a single other unit/matchup/composition....this is the ONLY thing I have a problem with. I'm sick and tired of dying to a Toss who can just mass carriers and A move across the map. It's to the point where I might as well literally just quit the game if I see more than 5 carriers. Sorry for the rant, I've been around long enough to know this is not a popular way to post, but it's out of control.Ordin92 May 2
May 2 Ladder Anxiety for a Returning player Hey all, I played SC2 a lot in WoL, and the beginning of HoTS. I am coming back from being out of the country for about 3 years, and want to get back in! Right now I'm struggling overcoming anxiety to do 1v1's, which is what I want to play. I was plat when I was playing, and had a pretty decent MMR, now however it scares me, because i'll be placed with people with that same MMR. I also no longer have friends that I actively play with anymore, and am hopeful to find some!Donzo5 May 2
Apr 29 Current Meta? Hello, so I haven't played this game since the first month of LoTV release. Can anyone give me a brief rundown of the current meta (i.e. unit comps per matchup; things to be mindful of; and anything else that I should know).Matteus2 Apr 29
Apr 29 Defending Marine Drops zvt Hey everyone, I've been having a problem with zvt lately. I scout and see that he has a starport and massing marines and I figure he is gonna go for drop play. He does . I usually go long, bling, muta against terrans so I can get enough units out but once they start going 2 prong 3 prong attacks it becomes really messy. Especially earlier on when I can't get mutas out yet. So my question is how are people defending multi prong drops? Do you preemptively build spines when you catch the starport ? What's the best placement ? Is there something I'm missing? Any help would he appreciated cuz I'm quite stuck this haha. Thanks!ShuKoN3 Apr 29
Apr 29 ZvP cannon rush at nat ramp I had a ZvP where I saw a probe, knew it didn't show up to scout my main and figured he was rushing me. I was right - only he took me by surprise when his pylon/cannon was on the ramp at my natural instead of behind the lines. I gg'ed out mostly b/c I was annoyed. Should I have just scouted the natural earlier and moved to the 3rd like normal? Or should I have tried to build lings/queens to attack the rush? Just trying to get a feel for what to do when I see the rush. I'm aware I was slow to build my gas / pool. Thank in advance. http://sc2replaystats.com/replay/4737042 (short replay - gg'ed out 2:39 in)Lokei5 Apr 29

Apr 23 HotS Enemy Within Does anyone know the fate of the ship/Zerg from this mission? I expected to find out in LotV but as far as I know it is never mentioned again. This has been bugging me for quite a while now and is the only loose end I can think of that wasn't addressed in LotV.Earthroot2 Apr 23
