Mar 25, 2011 Repeated laptop crashes during multiplayer During the past two days I've been having trouble playing online. Yesterday, I was playing a 3v3 game when suddenly, about 10 or 15 minutes into the game, the game froze and my screen went black. I was unable to alt tab, escape, or even turn off my laptop, and had to have the batteries taken out in order to shut down and restart it. The same thing has happend at least 3 or 4 times today. It usually happens at least 15 or 20 minutes into the game, and doesnt seem to effect shorter matches that conclude in the first 5 minutes or so due to early rushes. The first time it happend yesterday, I thought perhaps my computer had a virus, so I did a virus scan and had it defragmented. However it kept on happening and now I've "lost" at least 4 or 5 games. I even tried turning the graphics settings, but that didn't help at all. I'm wondering if anybody else has encountered this problem recently, and if there is anything I can do to fix it.Grooktook1 Mar 25, 2011
Mar 25, 2011 Multiple problems. Alright. 2010 and I still have dial up... I hate the world. This means it takes me forever to download a patch. I finally got 1.3.0 and after fixing similar problems from an earlier patch on my own, here it comes again. Just to list: No profile image in-game Since my profile isn't found or whatever, I get the achievements disabled message No content found for maps Profile obviously works outside of the game however And now, my game freezes on exit. I can alt+cntrl+delete my way out. Sometimes when I try a different SCII shortcut it doesn't freeze but I don't know the pattern going on here. The last time I faced the no content problem after a new patch, I replaced the old shortcut with a new one (I reinstalled too but I doubt it had anything to do with it since I just had to repatch again) that was updated in the SCII C:/ folder. Before that I believe it worked when I ran as admin (even though my desktop profile is an admin) but then I replaced the shortcut. I tried the shortcut in the Base folder under the Version folder but it says the iccucc44.dll file it missing. Getting really old after not being able to play the game after a month of not having time and now that I have time to play, I'm getting this ridiculous crap again that THIS time the old solution doesn't work for even though it's the same problem as last patch update. Help is greatly appreciated.ilah2 Mar 25, 2011
Mar 24, 2011 in-game mouse icon not working This is a specific problem relating to display issues. I have connected my HDTV to my laptop via an HDMI cable. When i go in to SC2 the in-game mouse icon does not move but i can still "highlight" the button selections when i physically move my mouse around. On all the menu screens this problem occurs and i can still "click" on buttons, it's just that the in-game icon and the actual mouse movements are not in sync. I switched back to VGA and had no problems. The thing that sucks is that i dont WANT to play in VGA as the quality is of course much worse, and furthermore having it go through VGA presents personal difficulties in getting my stereo hooked up to the system. Through HDMI i could leave it as is. I'm wondering if this issue has to do with the game at all, if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. //edit// also on the laptop display itself the in-game icon does not move when my display is set to 1080i. btw the display adapter is an AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 if that helps at all. I'm using Windows Home 7 Premium on a HP G62 notebook PC. HXLLBLXZXR2 Mar 24, 2011
Mar 24, 2011 Can't see division in 1.3 At first I thought this was working as intended because the season was ending, but I checked with friends and it all works for them. I use to go to my profile and click my league icon to see my division. Now this doesn't work. In my leagues and ladders it shows that I am in no leagues, though on the web version of battle.net I can see my division. http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/1164673/1/Labmonkey/ladder/20948#current-rank I just can't see that ingame.Labmonkey1 Mar 24, 2011

Mar 24, 2011 It's not letting me replay my missions. When my starcraft 2 was getting that patch. And after that when I was going to replay a mission it said it was going to exit battle.net in order to play an old version of SC 2. What does that mean? Did the patch fail or something?Termless2 Mar 24, 2011

Mar 24, 2011 In-game crashes (I checked the sticky threads and didn't see my particular addressed so sorry if this is a repeat question). SC2 has been randomly crashing for me. Generally it doesn't happen very often - only after long periods of playing. Usually, the crash occurs after finishing a multiplayer game, before the score screen shows up. When this happens, I get to send an error report to Blizzard. Occasionally, I also crash in the middle of games - when this happens, I don't get the dialog box that allows me to send a crash report to Blizzard. In neither case do I get a blue or black screen or does anything else on my computer freeze. Starcraft 2 just shuts down as if I'd hit alt-F4. Mar 24, 2011 This May Fix patch 1.3 Update Crashes for You The problem I had was that the update would restart after it reached 100% (aka cycle of doom). I emailed these are the methods that Blizzard sent me via email. Thankfully, after several hours, one of them came through for me: It's possible that your antivirus or firewall software is still interfering with the patch process - could you try adding Starcraft II and the Blizzard downloader to your safe programs list (may be referred to as exceptions / exclusions / trusted programs) in the antivirus or firewall settings? Failing this, you could try temporarily uninstalling the software, to be reinstalled after the successful patch. Also, have you checked your Internet Explorer confirguation?: Start the system Control panel and view the connection options: XP: Click Start -> (Settings ->) Control panel -> Internet options Vista: Click Start -> Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Internet Options Once viewing the Internet Options window, click on the Connections tab in the Internet properties window, then the LAN Settings button, and make sure that the 'Automatically detect settings' checkbox and the 'Use a Proxy server' checkbox is not selected. If either of these are selected, please un-check these boxes and then click OK to save changes, and try the connection to the Launcher after this. Please also ensure that your Internet Explorer is not set to 'Work Offline'. This option can usually be found in the 'Tools' menu. If you are using Windows Vista / 7, make sure that you run the game as an administrator by right-clicking the game icon and left-clicking 'Run as administrator'. We have had a number of reports that disabling or temporarily uninstalling firewall and anti-virus programs (Norton, McAfee, ZoneAlarm) will permit the patch to complete successfully. Please note that we advise against removing security software if you are unable to reinstall it, but removing these programs will minimize or eliminate the chance they will interfere with the patch. If you were able to patch but then cannot connect it is almost certainly one of these programs. We strongly recommended running in a Selective Startup when attempting to apply the patch, since background applications can interfere significantly with these operations. The following article will provide you with further assistance with closing the background applications on your computer: http://eu.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_GB&articleId=22623 Booting the computer in Safe Mode with Networking has also helped a number of Windows users around this problem. To do this, please follow the appropriate instructions for your Windows version on this page: http://eu.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=19393&locale=en_GB If you connect using a wireless connection then you will most likely be unable to connect while in Safe Mode with Networking, in this case you will need to connect using a wired connection. After booting in Safe Mode with Networking, run the StarCraft II Launcher (StarCraft II.exe) file that is in your StarCraft II directory to apply the patch. Note that the game itself cannot run in Safe Mode, therefore once the patch is correctly applied, you will need to restart your computer in normal mode. If the patch installation was unsuccessful in Safe Mode please check your hard drive for errors: http://eu.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=19390 If the problem persists, a virus may be altering the game data somehow. VIRUS CHECK: Please make sure that you are using the most current update for your virus detection software. If a virus is detected, you will want to clean the infected files, not delete them. Deleting the infected files could cause serious problems with your system. After you have cleaned those files, the programs that were infected will most likely need to be re-installed in order for them to work properly. If your virus detection software is not able to detect or clean the infected files or if you do not have any virus detection software, please download one of those listed here: http://eu.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=29142 If you are having other errors with the patch that don't fall into the above situations, please email back and include: - The exact text of any error message[s] you're seeing - Where in the download or patch process the error occurs - Any other information that may help us troubleshoot the problem - A screenshot of the problem if you think it would help I hope one of these methods help someone. Mar 24, 2011 Canadian ISPs -- Rogers internet For the past _TWO MONTHS_ I've had a very very high disconnect rate, almost ~60% (NOT exaggerating). I've made threads on the WoW support forums, and talked to a great number of people of possible issues. So far it all points to how Rogers Internet throttles p2p applications and considers WoW/SC2 and a plethora of other games as such and will actively drop packets. I've been disconnecting non-stop and it's really pissing me off. Is anyone else having this problem? If so, what solutions have you found, if any? Canada is joke-central when it comes to telecommunications and digital communications. It doesn't help that the CRTC is full of scandalous crooks either, allowing this throttling to continue. Since I'm currently situated in Waterloo, and graduating pretty soon I'd rather not switch ISPs, not like Bell or a reliable DSL company is available in my area anyways.Ninchuu11 Mar 24, 2011

Mar 24, 2011 Adding friends is impossible Three other friends and I have been unable to add each other so as to play with each other. When we add the account "character" (with charater name and 3 digit number), there is an error message that the account does not exist. Sending a friend request is no help either as nothing is received on the other end. All of us live in/around the Montreal, Canada area. On my end, I have shut down the firewall and hooked up my computer directly to the dsl modem to avoid any problem with my router. The problem remains. In any case I doubt the router is the source of trouble, as the game reaches online services fine. Out of morbid curiosity, I have tried run ST2 in Wine under 64bit ArchLinux, and guess what, ST2 runs fine, but still can't add my friends. Having shut down the firewall and put my computer naked to the web, directly hooked to the dsl modem, I have quickly run out of ideas to solve this. Googling was no help either. As for my specs, I have the following: Win7 (fully updated, and yes I dualboot with Linux) Intel i7 3.20 ghz 12 gig ram twin gtx570 in sli mode for gaming. Any ideas are welcome...Gjallarbru2 Mar 24, 2011

Mar 24, 2011 Not letting me sign in to my B.Net account. After installing SC2 for the second time after my comp crashed, it won't allow me to login. I boot up the game and get to the starting screen but all it says is "create account" but nothing else. Mar 24, 2011 MP and VAI don't work. SP unbearable FPS. starcraft 2 was running fine yesterday, and still should, considering that nothing has changed. However, upon attempts to log on, the menu and UI drop to 1 FPS, a box pops up with that mocking tone, to say, "Achievement progess has been tempoarily disabled", The multiplayer tab disables the singleplayer tab, then refuses to load, as do all the other sub-catagories. For VS. Ai, it just pops up saying "no content found" Challenges and campaign run at <1FPS. Tried running repair tool, it did it's thing, and stuff didn't happen. it's still doing the same thing. The odd thing is, i can still access battle.net through the galaxy editor, and starcraft 2 will function perfectly while the internet is disconnected. if anyone could offer some insight, or even inform me that I'm not an isolated case of retarded starcraft 2 client, that would be cool. Mar 23, 2011 Try this for your problems first. 1. Run as administrator the command prompt program 2. enter the following exactly how it is printed net user administrator /active:yes 3. log out 4. log in as the newly added Administrator account This should help with many problems. I have found that the Run as administrator command doesn't cut it when it comes to some problems. Try this new account with other problems you have come across. It has helped me so much with MMO games and even old FPS games. This unlock is for Windows Vista and Windows 7, so don't hesitate to use it. It initially comes without a password, but you can easily apply one as you would with a normal account. You can also remove this account by entering the same code, just substitute the yes for a no. This removes the account from the log in screen, but i am not sure if this deletes your exclusive files on the account, or just hides them?Some0 Mar 23, 2011

Mar 23, 2011 I require a tutorial from customer support Hello, I require instructions for the following goal: I wish to take the Blizzard map Novice Discord IV, modify it so that all resources are Rich and have 99999 resources each. Requirements: -The map MUST be run locally. I will not tolerate latency. I only ever intend to play against computer AI, and there is no justifiable reason for me to experience latency while doing so. -The AI configuration MUST be convenient. This means that the standard Create Game screen in SC2 where you select a computer race/difficulty level is acceptable, and manually selecting these same settings from within the Galaxy Editor prior to pressing "Test Document" is completely unacceptable. This is absolutely not a request for the Custom Maps community to answer. If they wish to attempt a response, then that's fine, but this is a service request for Blizzard Technical Support. I have searched on these forums, and I have searched on various popular search engines. I have found lots and lots of harsh opinions towards Blizzard and their supposed failures, but I've found nothing that explains a simple way of playing a modified map. Thanks for your time, and I hope I've hidden my frustration well.Pat0 Mar 23, 2011
