Sep 11, 2010 Lagging Game, Ram or Graphics card? ok so i play sc2 on minimum graphics, but once i reach around 80+ supply i start to lag a little, 130+ supply(as zerg, my main race) and i get some significant lag. Here are my system specs System: ____________________________________________________________________________ Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3 Pentium[R] D CPU 3.4GHz 2.38 GHz 1.99 GB of RAM Physical Address Extenstion ____________________________________________________________________________ Graphic card specs ____________________________________________________________________________ Report Date: 09/09/2010 Report Time[hr:mm:ss]: 19:44:24 Driver Version: 6.14.10.4543 Operating System: Windows XP* Professional, Service Pack 3 (5.1.2600) Default Language: English DirectX* Version: 9.0 Physical Memory: 2038 MB Minimum Graphics Memory: 8 MB Maximum Graphics Memory: 224 MB Graphics Memory in Use: 9 MB Processor: x86 Processor Speed: 3401 MHZ Vendor ID: 8086 Device ID: 2772 Device Revision: 02 ____________________________________________________________________________ Now im wondering, is it my RAM or graphics card that holding me back? or is it my CPU in all? would i have to buy a whole new system to play on anything better than minimum graphics with no lag? I cant decide wether to upgrade my Ram or graphics card, or both. But buying a whole CPU is not in my budget. Thank you very much for your helpMuppetMan7 Sep 11, 2010
Sep 11, 2010 Custom game? I must be doing something wrong. I was trying to set a 2v6 CPUs with my friend and was unable. I created a multiplayer game, and changed the game settings to custom. I had me and my friend on one team, but was not able to add more than 3 slots to team 2, or any other team. I tried moving players to all different teams, but no matter what I did, I couldn't get more than 3 CPUs per team. How come in a custom game no team could have more than 3 slots in use? Also I was thinking about trying those 4v4 custom game achievements (4v4 kin), but how am I supposed to set up 4v4 in custom game if I can't add more than 3 players to a team. Can someone tell me what am I doing wrong? Thanks!Voovits3 Sep 11, 2010
Sep 11, 2010 SC Multiplayer Freeze Crash Hi, I've been having an issue with SC2 crashing in multiplayer games; the screen freezes up and I have to restart my computer. Don't think it's overheating since I can handle other rather graphically intensive games such as Bad Company 2 on rather high graphics. Not sure what the issue is, but it's really making playing 1v1s a horrible experience (there's nothing worse than crashing when you're about to win). All drivers are up to date, as is Windows. My anti-virus (Microsoft Security Essentials) is also off when playing SC2. Sep 11, 2010 Graphics glitches with NVidia 7800 GS I am having a lot of graphics glitches in Starcraft 2. Symptoms include: 1. Missing polygons - typically appear as holes in surfaces, both in cut-scenes and in-game 2. Extraneous polygons - sometimes obscuring large portions of the screen, sometimes as long cones projecting from units like SCVs. The worst case I've seen was with the Protoss Mothership unit - the screen is completely unplayable (which was a *big* problem in the campaign mission where the Protoss make their last stand ;) ). My (aged) system specs are: P4 2.8GHz CPU 2GB RAM Asus P4S800D-X motherboard GeForce NVidia 7800 GS OC (AGP) Audigy 2 sound card (with kX project drivers as Creative's own drivers are buggy garbage) Windows XP I have followed various posts both on the official technical support page and in the forums. Things I have tried thus far: 1. Updated DirectX 9.0c driver to latest from MS 2. Updated Nvidia driver to latest version 258.96 (also tried going back to previous version 257.21 which is the version cited on your tech support page). On 3rd attempt, removed drivers with Driver Sweeper 2.1.0 before reinstalling. The SCV cone symptom was reported by a bunch of ATI based users which led me to try Driver Sweeper as the Catalyst drivers for ATI seem to have a problem there, but it didn't help me. 3. Looked for a motherboard driver load at Asus site, but no drivers available (only BIOS). I suspect the tech support page recommendation in that regard must be for motherboards with on board graphics or at least an Intel chipset. My P4S800D-X doesn't use an Intel chipset, not sure if it has on board graphics, but I don't use such a device if it is there. I am enjoying the game but find these defects at best annoying, at worst actually impeding game play (esp. with large polygons obscuring much of screen). Thanks in advance for any assistance. I hope there is an easy solution that someone has come across. Random0 Sep 11, 2010
Sep 11, 2010 Password Case sensitive I dont know if this has been brought up, but when I type my password in it doesnt matter if I use caps or lower case letters. It works either way no matter how I type it. Just wondering if that is a bug and if that is/has happened to anybody else.Dante1 Sep 11, 2010
Sep 11, 2010 Blue Please Update Us? - Points Issue Hello! The points awarded or taken away for winning/losing has been down since last night, and the message has not changed on the log-in page since 10:44PM Last night. A lot of people have questions and concerns that have not been addressed, myself included. Could we get a little love please? :) Q) Any ETA on when this will be fixed. Q) If we continue to play in ranked matches, will our points for those matches be tallied when this is fixed? Q) Ghostcrawler promised me a pet Zergling, will this delay its spawning? Thank you.Xar3 Sep 11, 2010

Thanks.NeilTheBest10 Sep 11, 2010
Sep 11, 2010 Annoying FPS drop Recently, I decided to downgrade my video drivers 'cause I heard the most recent drivers were... well, crap. I downgraded, booted up Starcraft II, set everything to ultra, and was getting a serviceable 25-30 FPS, which I can live with (I wasn't even getting that much on High settings with the most recent drivers). But today when I booted up the game, the framerate dropped to anywhere from 9-14 FPS when not in missions, where I was usually getting the aforementioned 25-30. I messed around with the settings, and found that when I had Shaders set to Ultra, it was responsible for the drastic framerate drop, no matter what any other of the settings were on. For the past week or so, the game ran fine with everything set to Ultra, Shaders included. I've tried reinstalling the downgraded drivers, and reinstalling the most recent drivers, and nothing made a dent in the low framerates. My name and score displays but not my portrait and when I click on acheivements it only shows the summary tab and all avatars are missing with the loading circle perpetually cycling through for each picture. No description of the acheivements display either. When I go into the game, there are also no icons for acheivements on the mission list but other icons/photos/graphics display fine.Gid2 Sep 11, 2010
Sep 11, 2010 Walking Under Water?? I created an island map, 6 large and numerous smaller islands. I discovered that my opponents (AI) were able to walk under the water as if it were dry land, and then walk ashore. Is there a default trigger or action somewhere which prohibits ground units from walking under water? If not a default, can someone give an example of something that would prohibit all land units from walking under water? DesertFox1 Sep 11, 2010
Sep 11, 2010 Campaign Missions Out of Order Hi, I recently went back to play the secret mission, but having already completed the campaign I was forced to load a saved game to get back to the star map to access the mission. Now, it seems to have set my status back to that point in the campaign, so I can no longer access the later missions. Is there anyway to restore the completed status so I can access all missions? Thank youWar0 Sep 11, 2010

Sep 11, 2010 4v4 matchmaking not recording wins/losses Hello, My fellow teammates and I have been wondering if this is a glitch. The past 10-15 games we have played haven't been recorded into our team win/loss nor have we received/lost any points. We have played them over the past 2 days. Just wondering what's up and if we can get our stats updated. Thanks.MrDoNotBreak3 Sep 11, 2010

Sep 11, 2010 Hard/Brutal # achievement problem Greetings, I have recently acquired the "Liberty Completionist: Hard" and "Liberty Completionist: Brutal" achievements. However, I only have the "Wings of Liberty: Hard 15" and "Wings of Liberty: Brutal 10" achievements. Shouldn't I have picked up the rest of the Wings of Liberty achievements along the way to the Liberty Completionist achievements? Thanks for any assistance!Cibyl6 Sep 11, 2010

Sep 11, 2010 My Game Crashes ALOT :( Since day 1, sc2 has been crashing. My game has crashed 30+ times since i started playing and has costed me more than 20 1v1 losses. I had to upgrade my computer to run sc2, but i don't think that is the problem. I can run sc2 fine with half my settings on medium and half on high. First of all, i want to point out this isn't a disconnecting issue. This is my whole sc2 going down in the middle of a game and one or twice in the loading screen. I have sent probably 20-something crash reports to blizz. Sometimes the game only stays up for a few seconds and sometimes it stays on for hours. I have tried reinstalling the game as well as using the repair tool, but nothing seems to work. I have started getting blue screens of death and im 2 scared to play a game cuz ive lost many games wer a crappy player beat me cuz my game crashed. HELP :(OoGyBoOgY1 Sep 11, 2010

It sucks because you have a good game but in the end receive no credit for it. Record goes up, but no points .. ultimately that makes it worse.Aura15 Sep 11, 2010

Sep 11, 2010 Adding friends doesn't work. Hey, I'm from Germany, but I bought the American SC2 during my stay in the US. So now I'm back in Germany and installed SC2. Everything works fine besides I can't add (German) friends. I have their nick and their character code but SC2 just says "Unable to find this friend". Do you guys know if it's because I have the American version of SC2 and they have the German/ Euro one? Or do you think it's a different bug? Thanks in advance. blubb PS: Just out of interest, do I play on Euro or on American Servers when I'm in Europe with the American SC2 version?blubb3 Sep 11, 2010
Sep 11, 2010 Afk Host Preventing Custom Modes From Startin I play custom games more often because they are fun, varied and unique. However I recently came across a problem. After joining a lobby for a custom game called "Cortex Roleplay - Foog", I noticed even with a full lobby, the host did not start. One of the people inside said "... he has been doing this all day...". Realizing that, I left the server and tried to join the same custom game again. Unfortunately everyone else also left, so I joined RIGHT BACK IN THE SAME GAME! I tried messaging the AFK host several times, but he didn't even respond. My suggestion is that there is a timer built in to the lobby. After a certain amount of game not starting, the host is changed/kicked. That way the lobby is constantly changed and prevents this sort of thing from happening.MrSmithal1 Sep 11, 2010

Sep 11, 2010 Game seems to affect my internet connection I have played the entire campaign with no problems and up until two weeks ago I was playing multiplayer no problem. Now I have lag (get dropped) everytime I play and sometimes the game will even disconnect me from the internet. I have talked to my ISP and they have checked and there are no problems. They are sending a tech out next week to check my computer but I thought I should ask here as well if anyone has heard anything like thisTheDoctor0 Sep 11, 2010

Sep 11, 2010 League Placement Matches So, I started trying the league system for multiplayer. Got into a 4v4 league, didn't quite like it. Too many bad teams. So I figured I would try out 3v3 and see if that league was any better. Well, now I can't get a league. My placement match counter is at -1. I'm pretty sure this is a server side issue, and the client is just trying to cope with it. In any case, I've played 6 3v3 matches and I have no league. Here's a screenshot of the counter: http://imgur.com/rqXKz.jpg Edit: Counter is at -4 now. Not sure if the message on the login screen "fixing a problem with games not recording" has anything to do with this. Edit 2: Got placed in a league. Counter was at -6. Not sure if someone fixed the problem server side or if I just went over some threshold check number. Still worth looking in to, though.Thenalous0 Sep 11, 2010
Sep 11, 2010 Problems installing SC2 -pls help So i just recently reformated my computer and upgraded to Windows 7 When i first installed SC2 it got to about 90% then an error occurred, but I didn't pay much attention and was simply going to restart the installation. However, now when i try to start the installation (at the window where you select the installation, following the pressing of OK) i receive an error saying The file "3 P\StarCraft II" could not be found. If this problem persists please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (IsAbsolutePath/path is not absolute) and it won't go past this point I've tried copying the SC cd onto my computer and running it, I also tried to run the installer in safe-mode as recommended by blizzard but you can't use the internet while in safe mode on windows 7 and you cant actually install SC without an internet connection. I really don't want to have to go through the reformating process again and was hoping someone might be able to help me get around this thxWazawa3 Sep 11, 2010

Sep 11, 2010 Cannot play downloaded maps I am not sure if this is a bug or not, but when I download maps from joining custom games, whether it is custom or blizz made melee maps, I don't have them in single player. I was just going to pratice builds against AI, I realize I don't even have Blistering Sand! I don't have metaloplis, or Lost temple or Steppes of War. I do have other ones, just not these 4. I also don't have most of the custom I map I played before. In Wc3, all maps downloaded goes under the download folder by default, but how bout in sc2? From over 30 different custom map and melee maps I played, I only have a total of 13 maps I can select from in single player "Play against AI", and half of them are novice maps. I never realize this problem because I never play against AI since today, and I am shocked. Shinaju1 Sep 11, 2010
Sep 11, 2010 Friend List Hello, I've been trying to add my friends back in the UK in my list and it seems that we couldn't add each other, I currently have a North America version of this game. The question is, is this realm based and is there any way for us to add each other so that we can play together w/o me having to buy the EU version of the game? Thanks in advance and have a great dayMazus2 Sep 11, 2010

Sep 11, 2010 Cursor Misplaced Issues September 5, 2010 around 9o'clock (UTC-07:00) after I launch Starcraft2 version 1.0.3.16291, the "login" button change color/grow when my cursor is about 60 pixel under the button, It mean my cursor is recognize only when I put my cursor under where is suppose to be. The problem work in the battle.net menu, in-game, options and everywhere in the game, when I am on fullscreen mode and when my taskbar is on top. There is no problem in window mode or when the taskbar is on the bottom. The specs of the game I played on is 1280x720 resolution, low texture, low graphics quality and 80% mouse sensitivity. The specs of my computer are Window7 home premium, Intel Core 2 duo Q8200 2.33GHz, 2x2GB DDR2, Intel G45/G43 Express Chipset ( integrate graphic) and a 1680x1050 monitor.Jackarage2 Sep 11, 2010
Sep 11, 2010 FPS issues Ok I've read some of the threads here and have seen that I may not be the only one with these problems but found no real solutions in these so I'm hoping someone can help me. As the title suggests I'm having problems with the fps during games. I used to play on medium and had no problems but a little over 2 weeks ago the frame rate started dropping and had to switch to low. Now on low it doesn't have any problems like at all. The problem is that I'm pretty sure my computer more than surpasses the requirements so I shouldn't have any problems yet.... It's very annoying to know what the game can look like and yet I have to look at it in low please help. BTW It starts off ok it's like 5 minutes in the game that the fps starts to drop. Sep 11, 2010 VGA crash at the end of loading I've been playing SC2 for 3 weeks and now I'm experiencing a very disturbing symptom. At the end of loading, whichever I load - replay or game - my VGA will crash and the client won't respond for about 20%. That's once every 5 times, and it has been impossible for me to play ladder games seriously. It happened very rarely awhile ago, but now it's very frequent. I stopped playing cause all these 'SCII burns ur VGA Card' rumor started to haunt me, as the crash gets more frequent I'm actually worried that SCII could destroy my system. I'm using a laptop and I've made sure that my system is always cooled down, I did fix variables.txt to limit my frames at 60, and my windows and graphics drivers are both updated to the most recent version. Any help? :[ CPU Type: Intel® Core™ i5 CPU M 450 @ 2.40GHz System Memory (GB): 3.36 Video Card Model: NVIDIA GeForce GT 330MEyelance3 Sep 11, 2010
Sep 11, 2010 Weird Color Bug? Hey, I am getting a bug I think. Bug or not here is what is going on. For some reason I see myself as green all the time, no matter what color I am on the comm board. Also all allies are yellow and all enemies are red. Any way to fix this?Reis1 Sep 11, 2010
Sep 11, 2010 Game crashes Hi there, I've been playing this game for a while now, and it was working fine. Recently I was forced to reinstall Windows 7 64 and all of the drivers and games, and programs, etc. However, StarCraft II has been crashing recently mid-game, not to desktop, but to a black screen with no explanation. I at first thought this was an overheating problem but upon monitoring GPU temps this was not the case. Anyone help please?Hnim21 Sep 11, 2010
Sep 11, 2010 Game lags, then suddenly speeds up While playing SC2, my game often lags for about 2 seconds, and then suddenly the entire game speeds up to "catch up" to the current game state. This even happens at the start of 1v1 games where the only thing on my screen is a CC and 6 SCVs. Other players in the game do NOT see a drop screen, nor do they experience any lag. When this happens, everything stops, but I can still move my mouse around and click on stuff and give orders. It seems that any orders I give are queued up until the game "catches up". I'm not sure if this is a system performance problem -- I don't think it is. I've tried running on *low* settings with the following setup: Intel Core i5-750, 4GB ram, NVidia GT240 1280x1024 This is actually a brand new PC -- the hard drive has nothing but Windows XP SP3 and SC2 installed on it. I've checked that nothing is pegging the CPU/GPU (outside of SC), there aren't any large files being downloaded on my network, and my system is not swapping. When this happens, other players in the game do *not* see the drop screen -- for them, the game just continues, and any commands that I give are just delayed in the game. Could network latency or packet loss be the culprit? I figured if my network was the problem, other players would be seeing the drop screen. But the game (as far as they can see) is completely unaffected -- there's no drop screen on their side, and no lag either. Has anyone experienced this before, or have any ideas on how to further narrow down the cause of this?ggeometry5 Sep 11, 2010

Sep 10, 2010 New Laptop Advice - Core i5, ATI Radeon 5650 I am looking at getting a new HP Pavilion dv6t Select Edition series with specs as follows: Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-520M Dual Core processor (2.40GHz, 3MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.93GHz 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5650 switchable graphics 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm) 640GB 5400RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection High Definition LED HP Brightview Widescreen Display (1366x768) edit SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support I dont know that much about computers, but from the research ive done, this should be a good configure to play SC2. Ive read that some people have had a problem with Core i5s and overheating, would a cooling pad help reduce that risk? Also anyone with similar specs, can you tell me what speed and level of graphics im looking at having? I really dont want to spend the money and have it crash or not work very well, so any and all help/info is greatly appreciated!! ThanksCalvinKlein6 Sep 10, 2010
Sep 10, 2010 FPS issues after latest hotfix. I had been playing Starcraft II since the end of July with very little issue. My computer's specifications aren't anything impressive, however they're more than capable (gives me Medium when I run the default test). Recently, within the last two days, 9/6/10ish FPS has gone crazy. When i load up the program, i'm running it at 30 FPS no problems at all. When I begin a game, FPS drops steadily, yet slowly to 6-7 fps. I've taken the following steps: Reinstalled Starcraft2 Installed the latest Drivers for my Mobo, Vidcard, and Audio set Read similar scenarios, and updated the variables.txt with the appropriate "fix" people have suggested. The same problems still persist. I'm not exactly sure what's happening, or what exactly happened in between now and 9/6 but it renders the game ultimately unplayable. Its only Starcraft II that chugs along like this which leads me to believe that its some sort of software conflict somewhere that is having hardware repercussions. Specs for the rig intel Quadcore Q6600 running 2.66mhz Nvidia GeForce 9500GS 512MB (Stop laughing, it used to work fine.) 4 gigabytes of Ram Tons of harddrive space, All running over the top of Windows Vista 64 on a Broadband connection. Sep 10, 2010 Battle.net mobile authenticator I recently installed the battle.net mobile authenticator on my account. I have three questions. 1. The serial number it gave me started with EU instead of US (I reside in the US), is this normal? 2. If the phone crashes or gets lost/stolen, can I simply call or email Blizzard with the serial number from the authenticator to get it removed? (I have heard stories where you have to send in certified copies of a birth certificate and some other identification document) 3. About how often is a resync needed on the mobile authenticator? Thanks ahead for answering my questions! Dobin6 Sep 10, 2010
Sep 10, 2010 College Campus Restrictions... Under my college's network, I believe P2P is blocked and so is any sort of patching for any game or program, I recently bought this laptop and it doesn't have starcraft2 but I bought a digital copy only to realize that I can't actually download it... Any solutions?Redstreame4 Sep 10, 2010
