Jan 15, 2014 Fantasiora: The Crystal Saga (PRP Reboot) Your heart thudded in your chest as you slowly moved up the line. It was finally time! After living so long in the sprawling Capital of Jericho you were old enough to get your Adventuring License. you still remember the days that you were a kid, hoping to turn 18 in a blink of an eye. You could finally see the outside world behind the large stone walls that surround the city. You look back in awe and fright at the sight of them to this day. The line suddenly stops as you realize it was your turn to sign up. A receptionist comes to greet you, "hello there what is your name?" she asks, quite bored. You quickly reply as you go through a bunch of redundant questions like age, background, and she even asked your gender. As she hands you the license a gem catches your eye on the side of her table. You look into it was awe and wonder..... this was a Fantasia shard, a blue crystal with untold power that used to be wielded by everyone in the land of Fantasiora. You still remember how long ago the people of the land used to draw power from the Fantasia stone.... a large crystal tower that sat in the heart of this very city. The people used the powers of this stone to create weapons and tools unlike any other, technology and magic melded together as advancements in both fields quickly skyrocketed as these crystals held limitless power. That was until the birth of the Cursed......... people who were corrupted by an unknown force which turned them into horrifying monsters made out of crystals the colour of the purest black. In order to fight these creatures off the people of Fantasiora did everything they could but nothing could stop these abominations..... they walked through any physical attacks and magic barely phased them. That was when the high mages created weapons with a Shard chipped from the Fantasia stone . Only the strongest warriors could wield the arcane magics from the power of Fantasiora itself and mold it into their weapon of choice. They began fighting off the Cursed horde until generals and commanders of the dark army brought their equivalent..... Dark Fantasia.... shards made from the chaos of the void itself..... these crystals would latch on to people, syphoning the negative energies of the user and turned them into the leaders of the Cursed. No one knows where they came from but this raw chaos counteracted the power of the Fantasia weapons. We were quickly loosing the war and the high mages decided to use the powers of the Fantasia stone to surpress the horde and exile them to what was dubbed the wastelands. In this ritual the high mages were sacrificed and the Fantasia Stone shattered into pieces. With this cost came reward as the Cursed horde was pushed back and never heard from again. The shards of the Fantasia stone was then used to rebuild society.... with small crystals used to power vehicles or appliances and the bigger ones used as weapons. That was when you realized the Fantasia shard you were looking at was glowing! suddenly 2 royal guards stepped up behind you "the king has requested your counsel" one of them said as you were led towards the palace where the leaders of the land dwelled and made their decisions......... You were lined up in front of the Throne with men and women beside you. You didn't recognize any of the faces but they looked just as confused as you did. The king stood up from his seat "you are the chosen of Fantasiora that have the ability to use the crystal shards like our ancestors before us." he said as he held up the shard you saw at the Adventuring depot before us and its arcane glow. "with your powers these shards can turn into the weapon of your choice bestowed with the power of the ancients. We have decided to put you group of heroes into a special guild where you will be trained and mature to become the elite warriors of the throne. I hope you will accept this task as the land of Fantasiora needs you more than ever, and wish you all the best on your journeys" he says to you with a smile on his face. You couldn't help but feel excited, you were about to embark on a journey that no one else has before, go on challenges that will test your skill, might, and cunning. this was everything you wanted from getting an adventuring license. You couldn't even imagine the places you will go and the people you will save! This is where your journey begins...... ____________________________________________________ =RPer Name= Name: Gender: Age: Character Description: Weapons: 1 Fantasia Weapon with a abilities listed in the next category approved by me and Zark. Jan 14, 2014 Day I dawn of the first day “Well you gonna order something or you going to stay in lala-land?” The large bartender asks with a low growl as he looks at you. He is busy cleaning a beer mug with a rag as he stares at you with cold eyes that only a Dominion Officer could give. You finally Notice the T.V that was behind him “That is it for sports and now about the strange explosion last night that rocked New Petersburg. Dominion officials are assuring us that this was just a piece of an old confederacy Science vessel that was experimenting on a new nano-steel formula. It appears that -click-.” “Yeah yeah, I hate the news.” The bartender says “Right I’ll come back to you once you wake up” “Hey is that Billy on the side walk throwing up?” A random Patron of the bar asks “Looks like him but he hasn’t drank today I wonder what is wrong… wait that doesn’t look like vomit it looks like…” [Power glitches cutting the patron off] “Wait where did he go what is going on? Who is screaming out there?” “GET OFF OF ME” A woman screams as a man is on top of her biting at her face. “Help” “Bill get off her… Bill, Bill what the hell someone get over here and help me get him off of her… how did he even get in here?” A man yells out trying to pull the Bill off a young woman. "Get down." The bartender yells as he shoots bill with an old looking shot gun. "What the --- why did you shoot him he was just sick." "He bit my arm what the heck is going on here... I.." Before the man with a bite mark in his arm is able to say anything sirens are heard and a mushroom cloud is seen in the window. "Hey that looks like Isaburg.. are we being attacked?" A random woman asks before jumping back as two more sickly looking terrians run into the glass window and start to beat on it while moaning. "This doesn't look like a Terrian faction attack... They look like they are infected with something... Everyone to the back door grab what you can.. That window isn't going to hold forever." The bartender yells as he reloads his shot gun. DM- Now the rp has started feel free to rp your first moves before we really get into the action.. you can now rp how you get the misc items you started.. Jan 10, 2014 Hope (PRP/Discussion Page) 21 years after "The Event". The Event was when the prosperous plant of Terra had begun to die. The core was going cold, and slowly began to stop churning the molten rock inside. The planet's races came together to try to find a way to get the core from going cold, and get it back to moving. The warriors of Faraan Empire, and the think-tanks of The Voxan Matrix created the Faroxan Conglomerate, since they were on the landmass of Galenn. The Republic of Zeyn were on the lone, distant continent of Zeya . They were the most advanced of the 3 societies, but also the smallest. The Faroxan Conglomerate and the Republic of Zeyn differed in ideas, and carried them out differently. The Conglomerate had wanted to dig with the science of the Voxans, and the power of the Faroxans and power the core manually by sending metals and other raw materials through heated canisters to the core. The Republic however, wanted to go to another planet, and had been using all funding possible to make a new space program. The 2 factions worked hard, the Faroxan Conglomerate finished their armada of drills and gathered the materials and started drilling. About a week later, they hit something. A ruins. The ruins was inside a large cavern and it had a very dense gas inside. The gas was black with hues of green and purple. The release of the gas itself was enough to kill a few that got caught in it, but the aftermath was even worse. After studying it, they realized that this "Gas" was a living entity, that had been locked away by previous civilizations, and is now released into the world, the plague of all life. The infection spread quickly, and soon the epidemic filled the landmass in a matter of weeks. There were few survivors and the Republic offered a haven to any of the survivors that were not infected. Most who took ships or aircraft were, and were executed and disposed of upon landing... Some few have made it, but a very, very slim few. The infected aren't all mutated mentally, but their physical mutations classify them as "inhumane" and unfit for society, and are banished from any survivor settlements. So was born the Exiled Cult. They attack as if they are infected, and despise anything that resembles "Order". The feral infected can look normal, but will rip you to pieces if you let them. Indigenous life has been affected as well, animals becoming more aggressive and adapting new weapons and abilities. The world outside of some form of settlement is a new kind of dangerous. Everything you know is now gone. All that remains is your wits, your abilities, and survival. By any means necessary. Many things have been lost, many things have been erased from existence. But one thing that makes you different from the rest. You have Hope. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Character sheet: Name: Previous occupation/skills: (Anything. You. Want.) Jan 9, 2014 Second Wind: A Cerebrate's adventures The Second Wind Description: When Queen Kerrigan was taken from the swarm, her brood mothers each took their share of the brood, to separate from and sometimes battle eachother, but someone had to stand up for the swarm at large. Enter Cerebrate Varus. A living relic of the obsolete zerg, Varus takes it upon himself to collect whatever new units he can to protect his race from all the enemies who would take advantage of its time of weakness, but the challenge before him is great. Varus has only drones and a few outdated units at this disposal, and only the feuding brood mothers can make more. Furthermore, his essence has been condensed into the body of a drone, and so his thoughts have become cloudy, and a great wall blocks his mind from brilliance. How then should he hope to protect the swarm? Story 1 Drone Cerebrate Varus Brood mother Baresh cast a great shadow upon me and my brood of drones. When she lifted up her front feelers there was a low clacking sound as carapace met carapace at her joints. “Have you come to challenge me? You dare presume that you have the strength to take the swarm and replace our lost queen!?” She snapped at me. The brood mother did not even need to open her maw to speak to me, for she could communicate with me via a powerful mental link. Nevertheless, she leaned down to bare her mandibles. I could smell the decay from bits of her last meal. “You are but the last vestige of a failed swarm that had fallen out of the queen's favor. She devolved you into a mere drone, and you are fortunate that she let you live at all!” Every insult she uttered was true. Though I was a great mind once, I had been turned into a drone, for the queen had created the brood mothers to replace me. Even so when, Baresh's great jaws came close to me I dug my pinching claws into the living, pulsating, floor, and snapped, “I have no desire to rule the swarm! You brood mothers can fight each other as much as you like, and when the fighting is over I will serve whoever is the new queen.” The brood mother could have consumed more than half of my body with one bite, but with righteous reasoning at my back I pushed forward, and reared up into her face. “But while you brood mothers divide the swarm I desire to defend it, and for that I need newly evolved forces. Our ancient enemies the protoss are surly gathering to take advantage of our weakness. So too will the humans who took our queen from us.” When I uttered the word protoss my hearts sent quakes throughout my body, and my mind's eyes conjured up images of furious beings of solid light, who cut and burned through many ranks of our people. Baresh imagined armadas of gold and crystal ships assaulting our people with weapons beyond our understanding. She shuttered somewhat. After my yelling I had calmed down, and with a softer voice I said, “You brood mothers are the only ones who can hatch units. Please donate some to my cause.” Brood mother Baresh leaned back and brought her feelers together in thought. “What do you need?” She asked. “Right now I have mostly drones and a few outdated air units. What I need most of all is flying creatures that can take the fight to the sky and stars along with essence to evolve my existing fliers.” Baresh sat in silent contemplation. “I cannot spare my offspring so long as brood mother Salith is at war with me. But when I have defeated her I will grant even more units than you desire.” “If I convince Salith to weaken herself by donating units will you do so as well?” I asked. “Perhaps,” she said simply. With a grumble I begrudgingly bowed and with my fellow drones following me I levitated out of the hatchery. I felt a wave of suffocating heat and powerful pressure upon leaving, and had to put my pincers over my eyes to tolerate the brightness of a sun that dominated red sky. The planet Kalen V was very hot as it was close to its sun. Only the plant's heavy atmosphere prevented the tideless oceans from boiling away. Even so, as I traveled along the beach I noticed white, furry, beast trapped in slimy, translucent, cocoons. Since Kalen V had no moon its orbit was erratic and could move very close then very far from it's sun. No doubt Baresh was going to place the essence of the beasts in her troops to deal with the coming cold spell. I came to a line of spiked tentacles, called spine crawlers, that towered over me and stood posed to strike me. They didn't, however, but I had to scale a pile of corpses on my journey. Mangled bodies of our troops, with their clawed paws twisted at impossible angles, lay with their toothy maws agape from the last time they screamed. They had been victims of the crawlers and each-other. There was another row of spine crawlers also poised to strike, for such defensive life-forms drew the battle lines. I entered a brown hatchery, and there was brood mother Salith caressing some of her translucent eggs. I was about to utter a thought via mental link, but she spoke first. “No need to say a word. I have already heard the conversation.” she said, still staring at the worm-like embryos swirling in the eggs. Three embryos were in each egg. “I said I would not lend my infestors to you until Baresh lent you air units, and she hasn't, so the infestors and their mind control abilities stay with me.” Three of the infestor creatures wandered her hatchery aimlessly. They had huge, bloated, black, bodies, that their tiny slender legs somehow managed to carry. Though they had carapace, they also had pupils like the eyes of a vertebrate. “You hacked into our communication?” I asked. “I hear all,” she said as she secreted a mucus from a gland on her thorax. She then rubbed the mucus on to her eggs. I sighed and then replied, “We cerebrates may be obsolete, but when the swam was in danger we came together to protect it. Sooner or later you brood mothers will have to do the same.” When she didn't reply I sighed again, this time at my own powerless, and then I decided to go mine minerals. * * * One of my drones took root, and began growing into a building a split second before I knew I wanted it to. The drone formed into a ball and then flesh burst from it's own body as it pulsated and grew. In a few minutes the drone had grown many times its original size. It had become a wide tunnel leading to the hatcheries of both Baresh and Salith. I had two other drones grow into extractors, buildings made to mine useful gasses. Then the rest of the drones and I went about mining minerals necessary for the development of the swarm. Since turning into a drone, I had come to use whatever was left of my mental faculties to invent more efficient ways of mining and growing buildings. I had developed a gas extraction organism that used it's blood to pump gas directly into my delivery system, and made use of acids that helped brake down the minerals in order to make their collection and future digestion much easier. My proudest achievement, was to train my drones to burrow into soil before growing into buildings. This quickened the growth of buildings by making soil softer, and by mixing it in with a nutrient rich substance called creep that we would normally leave only on the surface. It was interesting to invent these mining methods, but after I had run out of ideas for improving mining, the job had become tortuously repetitive. Pick up the mineral block and bring it to the tunnel, pick up the mineral block and bring it to the tunnel, over and over again. The only way to escape the torture was to let my weak mind wander to other things. I contemplated on how to unite Baresh and Salith, hoping I would come to a sudden revelation. None came. Before I was a drone, my mind worked efficiently and smoothly like my inventions for extracting resources. Every thought was a revelation, but as a drone, everything had become a cloudy haze, and only occupationally would inspiration strike. All I could do was work, but then a bright, but tiny reflection from the sky caught my attention. Up in the sky I saw slender, flying, slivers of gold. Then my drones scattered, before I even knew I wanted them to. (to be continued)Durani9 Jan 9, 2014
Jan 8, 2014 Why I'm mad at you, Blizzard. (Global WC) Blizzard and I have always had a good relationship. They make excellent quality games and I, in return, give them money. It's a functional system, and we've gotten along just fine. But yesterday, Blizzard, you made me so mad I wanted to cry. The past few months, I have been diligently plodding away at my entry to the 2011 Global Writing Contest. It has been, without a doubt, the hardest I have ever worked on a single writing project for this significant a length of time. The vast majority of my story was written on the bus and subway going to and from work. I spend upwards of two hours each weekday on public transit, and every minute of it these past few months have found me with a clipboard full of notes and rough edits, happily scribbling out words in favour of better ones. For this, Blizzard, I suppose you have my thanks. I truly enjoyed writing this. So you can imagine my delight when yesterday, I found that, somehow, it was done. Through some kind of black magic, all my little ideas and sneaky one-liners had somehow managed to evolve into a single, flowing narrative. After a few re-reads just to make sure I wasn't going crazy, I did what anyone would do in my situation: I clicked "Submit". My girlfriend was next to me while I read the terms and conditions for what should never have been the first time. I read faster than she does, and my heart was already through the floor when she asked "What's that bit about Quebec?" This isn't the first time I've been denied entry to a contest because of my silly, silly province's silly, silly laws. Nintendo Power shafted me the same way, as I'm sure any kid from Puerto Rico can tell you. Heck, even recently I was denied the opportunity to appear on Wipeout Canada because of my Quebec residency. So I'm mad at you, Blizzard. Mad because I should have seen this coming, should have checked the terms and conditions earlier. I'm mad at you, Blizzard, because I should have just moved to Ontario when I had the chance after college. I'm mad at you, Blizzard, because my story won't get the chance to compete that it deserves, and I can't blame you even in the slightest. I'm just so incredibly, unrelentingly, soul-crushingly MAD at you, Blizzard. But give it a week and we'll be cool again. I'll stay in this thread a little while so I can feel sorry for myself a little bit more, so feel free to ask my any questions about my story, or Quebec's ridiculousness. And now, here's the hardest thing I have ever worked on for no reason. I hope you it can be enjoyed this way, if not the way it was originally intended. Pure10 Jan 8, 2014
Jan 3, 2014 Maltheism (RP) Etymology Macaronic nonce coinage from mal-, from Latin malus (“bad”), + theism (compare misotheism and dystheism). Noun maltheism (uncountable) The belief that there is an evil God or gods. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ereboran Six. We're going to make it. We're going to make it! The small ship pulled free of the planet's gravity well. Its few inhabitants slumped in their seats, their features wracked with exhaustion and fear. "We made it," one said, tears of relief flowing from her eyes. "We're safe." One of the men grunted and gripped his seat tightly. Another looked at him in concern. "What is it? What do you feel?" "Anger." Fear was evident in his voice. "They aren't happy. He isn't happy." "Well, they won't get us back. I wouldn't come within twelve light-years of this system for a million credits, once we're gone. I only hope nobody else stumbles across it," he added grimly. "What about the others? The ones who stayed behind?" Another gritted his teeth. "I imagine they'll do fine. Those wandering tribes came from somewhere." "You think... they were crash survivors? Like us?" Asked a horrified voice. "Or their descendants. How else do you explain genuine humans on an alien world?" The psionic grunted. "Let's just get out of here. The further we are from this planet, the happier I'll be." The ship sailed away, carrying its passengers to safety... but they were no more the planet's last victims than they were its first. Jan 2, 2014 Genesis (PRP&Planning Thread) Genesis Map: http://sta.sh/01r9uf8l3ts3 (Copy/Paste) Locations: Genesis: Nestled on the planet Monsoon; named for the storms it suffers from year-round. The planet once housed a massive amount of Zerg activity, but now has very little since the fall and new rise of the Queen of Blades. For unknown reasons, most Zerg have departed from this planet to infest other nearby divisions of space. Genesis is now a crown jewel among the Dominion’s specialized research facilities. It contains only the best and latest of technology, along with the newest experiments, prototypes, and other impressive projects that the Dominion works on in secret. A: The Multi-Environment Simulator System: Located on Laboratory Level 3. See “M.E.S.S.” under the Technology Section for more information about this. B: Living Quarters: The living quarters of the personnel that live on-site are located separate to the laboratory for safety reasons. While there is a path above ground to this part of the facility grounds, there is also an underground tunnel that runs to the facility for when it rains or when the facility is on lockdown from the outside world. The living spaces of those who work at the facility vary from person to person, as these personal quarters are open to be changed by those who live within them. This building is three stories tall. A smaller, less complex MESS system is located on the middle floor of the building. This one is for recreational use, and can be used by anyone who is a registered worker at Genesis. C: Medbay: Where all wounded workers go straight away. The main medbay is located right in the main facility, but is easily accessible to the Military Encampment as well. It located near the back of the facility, and linked to the barracks. Nearly anything can be treated here with ease, being fully automated by the AI KIRU. However, there are doctors and nurses located here as well whom are trained to assist the wounded and sick. (When you are sick or wounded, feel free to make up a random doctor character or use KIRU to roleplay the treatment and healing process.) There are a variety of rooms, ranging from those made for cryostasis, to plain recovery rooms where patients spent most of their time in. D: Laboratory Divisions 1-? (Levels 1-3): Where all specialized laboratories are found. There are five separate wings to the laboratory division on Facility Level s 1 & 2. The most notable division is the New Energy Solutions in the center of the circular facility, where Director Joul Astrolovik himself works with his teams to look into various methods of energy generation within the largest lab of the laboratory level. Everything in the facility curls around the two-story, cylinder-shaped room in the dead center of the Facility, where project Genesis is underway, Director Astrolovik’s current project pertaining to his Energy Solutions campaign. E: Construction Hangars 1-3:Three separate hangers branch off from the main facility. This is where prototypes ranging from new ships to small Ai units are constructed. Hangars 1 & 3 are dedicated to large projects, and are each one story tall. Hangar 2 is twice as high as the other two hangars, and can house either two large projects at once, or one massive-sized one. F: Cafeteria: This is located underground, directly under the Living Quarter’s designated building. It too is linked to the underground tunnel system that links all portions of the facility together. Most of the time, you’ll find military personnel eating down here rather than most Facility personnel, as they either eat within their living quarters, their laboratory, or not at all. However, all personnel are welcome to come down for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. G: Sensory Array (Level 4): At the very top level of the facility, there is a large glass dome that houses the Sensory Array Center, which moniters what is going on in the environment around the Facility. Data collected through the day is recorded, such as the rainfall for the day, the humidity, the zerg activity levels, and much more. The Sensory Array itself also can keep tabs on what is going on within the facility, being able to track personnel as well as specimen and other objects within the building. A pillar rises up through the center of the room, and at the top lies a large radar dish which is mounted on the outside of the dome. H: Laboratory Basement (Level 0): Genesis’s basement is still under construction…even three years after it being officially up and running. Very few people have access to this lower level, besides the handful of people who supposedly ‘work’ on building the level, and a few of the higher-up Superiors who are close friends with the facility director, Joul Astrolovik. Military Encampment: Stationed directly north of the Facility, within walking distance. All Military personnel spend most of their time here, when they're not patrolling the halls of the Facility or the Perimeter (Or playing poker, among other silly things they may get into…). Those stationed here are mainly present for protecting the station in the uncommon situation where the facility is either attacked, sabotaged, or otherwise compromised in some way, shape, or form. A: Barracks: Contains the sleeping quarters of the Military Personnel. The armory is also located here. This structure is directly connected to the Medbay via its southern most wing. The Communications Center is also directly connected to the Barracks, but is considered a separate part of it despite this fact. There is even a lounge here where the inhabitants can eat or BS to their heart’s content. There is a notification screen that displays various tasks that those stationed at the barracks can be assigned to. B: Communications Center/Array:The Communications Center small building with many antennae sticking off the roof as well as satellite dishes. This is how the Facility keeps in touch with the Dominion. All communication links for the facility run through here. (This is a great place to go to eavesdrop on other people’s conversations.) C: Casey’s Bar: Named after the original owner of the bar. It is the only bar within 200,000 light years of Monsoon. It receives monthly shipments to restock inventory, as it is often drained to the last drop by then. When there isn’t a bartender present, the AI system KIRU manages the bar. The Bar also just so happens to have a real nice, brand-new stereo Jukebox system, and flat-screen television to watch the news on. D: Ship Hangar: Where all ships needed for transport are located. Personal transport ships can also be found here that may be owned by other personnel. E: The Perimeter: Both the Military Encampment and Research Facility are surrounded by and protected by a very tall, thick-plated, metal wall with catwalks at the top for patrolling. There is only one point of entrance, which is very near the Military Encampment, to the north. There are a few automated sentry turrets mounted along the sides of the wall to keep anything from getting too close to the walls. There are of course other things within the perimeter of the metal wall besides things already mentioned. There is of course a few landing pads by the ship hangars, and there are towers dotting up here and there around the area that nest automated Anti-Air guns that continually hum day and night, watching the skies. Surrounding Area: Monsoon is a planet of vast rainforests, having very, very diverse plant and animal life upon its surface. These wind-swept forests are thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of years old, housing trees that reach heights even taller than the Facility itself. Feral zerg run rampant through these forests, killing and devouring anything in sight. The facility is surrounded by dense undergrowth, as well as a handful of trees with trunks thick enough to account for half the size of an Ultralisk. Nearby, there is a river than runs to an ocean shore about five miles south of the facility; a waterfall rests somewhere between the river’s start and the ocean shoreline. About twenty miles north east, there is a gorge that houses a small zerg hatchery that is constantly monitored for activity and study. There resides a small feral zerg colony, that has somehow made some order for themselves despite the chaos around them. It is a curious phenomenon, as feral zerg typically are wild and unpredictable without a leader to guide them…these zerg function as though there were still under hivemind control…which could very well be possible. It is also notable that some zerg of this small colony have very…unusual traits, seeming to have evolved to the environment around them. There is nothing more of note to mention, as those at Genesis tend not to stray too far away from the facility itself to do much more for exploring the planet’s environment. Though, it is hard to say what may lie hidden among the vast forests….Auxiliatrix44 Jan 2, 2014

Dec 24, 2013 Make Abathur quotes! The idea here is to say something the way Abathur would say it. Here's one I came up with (read it like its Abathur talking): [Start Abathur quote] Abathur. Frightening and cold hearted Zerg creature. Intimidating voice. Highly effective at impressing humans who play Starcraft 2, and very zerg. Zerg Queen... Weak... Not intelligent without modification... Excels only at commanding small zerg hive clusters and being of more annoyance than Queen of Blades likely intended. Reason of replacing powerful voice of Zerg Overmind with Queen voice... Greatly unclear... Should replace inefficient Queen voice at once. Should spin better vocal chord sequences... [End abathur quote] I made that one for this thread: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/10973257785Setho0 Dec 24, 2013
Dec 23, 2013 Zarkun's Pizzeria and Arcade Welcome to Zarkun's Pizzeria and Arcade. Outside of Blizzard's Code of Conduct, I have three rules: Rules: 1. Don't shoot my games or my TVs. If you do, I'll feed you to some Mutalisks I caught the other day. Figured this would be the best way to deal with them. (No one will tell me what ShadowFury did to those roaches.) 2.Trolls will be burned to a crisp and thrown to the Mutalisks with extreme prejudice. I despise trolls. 3. My word is law. If I say no food fights, I mean no food fights. Here's your menu: Good old Pepperoni: What the name implies. Just choose your type of cheese. Meat Lovers: Every kind of meat you can think of, and some you haven't. Choose your cheese. Deep Space cheese: Why's it glowing? Zergling Pie: Careful, it's prone to try to eat you! Protoss Special: Not sure whats in the crust or on the pizza. Still trying to figure out why a Protoss made a pizza. Mind Melter: Inspire by a drink from Zanon's bar. Not sure what the chef used, but it has similar affects as the Mind Shredder. Custom: Take anything you can come up with and order it. If it's popular enough, I'll add it to the menu! Flamethrower Wings: So hot, you'll really breath fire! SuperNova Wings: Guess. Cheese Sticks- Bread sticks topped with your choice of cheese. Cheeses: Cheddar, Habenero Jack, Deep Space Cheese, Predatory Feeling, Whatever the chef used on the Mind Melter, Monterrey. Toppings: Pepperoni, Sausage, Bacon, Canadian Bacon, various other meats, zerglings, pineapple, olives, and various fruits and veggies from across the Koprulu sector. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hanging the sign out front once more, I look at the deserted street and sigh, heading in. Dec 19, 2013 The Korhallian Tales The cramped, dark, interior of the dropship shuttered softly as Robin slowly eased the thrusters. To her right, she could see the cities of Mar-Sara drifting slowly away as the ship ascended higher and higher into the atmosphere. To the left, the pilot could see the stars, twinkling in the way only stars could. The only disturbance to this peaceful setting was his co-pilot, who as currently taking a nap in his chair. The young man she recruited as her co-pilot, only said that he was a drifter, and would fly the ship half of the time in return for a ride, with black hair and dark blue eyes. Strangely enough, he carried only a spear, and a blanket both of which were laying about in cockpit. With a slight sigh, Robin pressed the intercom, brushing aside a strand of dirty blonde hair. "Thank you all, for taking the cheapest shuttle to Korhal, I'm the pilot, Robin. I'm going to tell you all that there are no bathrooms on board the ship, none of you have any excuse to come anywhere remotely near here and start flirting. The last guy who did that was thrown out of the airlock. If you need to stretch, then please ask for permission from the people you will be smashing in the face while doing so. The only person who deserves enough legroom to stretch or take a nap is me, and the copilot. If the need to use the restroom is actually present, please use the plastic bag in the seat in front of you. If you are allergic to latex, then tough luck." -------------------------------------------------o-O-o-------------------------------------------------- Robin urged the accelerator as the dropship was in the final stretch. The drone of the ship covering what she was saying up until they reached space. "If there is a zerg or protoss, in the seat next to you, please don't panic. They paid for this ride the same way you did. If there is any maiming or infesting going on, I'll be forced to use the old drop commands from the great-war. And that not only eliminates the troublemaker but those who are unfortunate enough to sit next to the idiot. So kindly, for your sake and your neighbors, please don't screw around." // She straightened out her uniform, consisting of an loose shirt and pants, before saying. "Lastly, entertainment for this ride. Unfortunately, this bird has no TV, no Books, no videogame systems or the like. All acts of pleasure are going to be derived solely from yourself, and the people around you. This does not mean any physical acts. I'm going to assume that all of you are criminals of some-sort, and at least have one interesting story you can tell. The person who tells the most interesting tale gets no ship-fare, and a drink after we arrive, is that fair? Now come on, who wants to tell the first story?" (Concept of the thread in bold.) -------------------------------------------------o-O-o-------------------------------------------------- Basically, I can't be on enough regularly to do an RP. This is a more self sufficient thing. Every character in this particular thread will tell a(or many) story(Stories?). Any character from a previous RP, within reason, can be on this ship. (No one evil enough/reckless enough to kill everyone on the ship) The stories can be serious or just plain nonsensical. This was inspired by the Cantebury tales. Please follow this format for passengers. ____________________________________ Name: Age: Reason for being on the ship: (Optional. Could be a subject of a story though). Thread of Origin:(If there is one.) __________________________________ I would like to request that people write in third person. However, if you can't write in third person to save your life. I guess that can't be helped. Assume that your character is accepted as long as the other Rpers don't shake their heads in dismay.Heaven5 Dec 19, 2013
Dec 17, 2013 Elsewhere K0-0RG 1S_WRL-MDL1_PRD-MAIN The Realm and Sovereignty of Summerfrost. "We'll get our support," Mim said, kicking at a pile of snow. It exploded into a spray of powder. "Folks at Corporate may be scumbags, but they ain't stupid. They won't abandon us when they've got so much to gain." She wiped away the beading of sweat on her brow. "Hope so," Uri'Krytos said. His exoskeleton was covered with snow, thanks to the drift he blundered into. Deep snow was uncommon in Summerfrost, but still something to watch out for. Names could be deceiving, and Summerfrost could be cold. "If any natives stumble across us, I may not be able to hide in time. And I am thinking we are not allowed to be killing the natives." His pseudohide had given out days earlier. Food and shelter they could come by, but without the regular supply shipments other valuable substances had begun to run out, one by one. Mim watched the big insectoid brush away the snow on his shoulder. Its whiteness stood out blindingly against the dyed ebony of his shell, much like the three pale Marks of Shame on his arm and sides. If he wasn't an insect, she thought, he'd be pretty attractive. "Speak of the devil," Manak said. He lowered a set of binoculars from his eyes. "Natives incoming now." He liked to speak of natives as though he wasn't one. It was sort of true. Once you were with the Corporation you weren't really a native of anywhere anymore. Still, his short grey fur, pointed ears, yellow eyes, and claws marked him as Beastfolk, specifically Wolfkin. "Looks like slayers. Didn't know they came out this far. Whaddya think they're hunting?" "Whatever it is, at least it isn't us. If it were felfay I'd be concerned, but we've got no problems with the slayers. The enemy of the enemy is our friend." "Friends they may be," Krytos said. "But these friends will kill this one on sight." True enough. Mim looked around. The ground was covered with Summerfrost's usual thin layer of snow, with patches of winterrose sprouting out of the whiteness. There wasn't really anything to offer concealment. "Krytos, how's your 'hide?" The Yeh-Ket responded by flicking at a switch on his belt. For a moment he flickered, seeming smaller. His face shifted, teeth replacing mandibles and ears replacing antennae. Before she could speak, though, he was back to his normal self. "I have conserved the power, but going through the village, it taxed it." So much for that plan. There was only one option. "Forty-five, get Krytos buried under that snow." The android hastened to comply. "J, try and keep their attention off of him. Scramble their thoughts if they start to wonder about the big random lump of snow." "I'll give it a shot," the Terran said glumly. "These slayers, though, they've got some kind of psionics of their own. It might backfire." "Just try. And don't do anything stupid." She came off a bit harsher than she would have liked, and felt sorry for the boy. He still had problems, but he'd come a long way from the emotional train-wreck he'd been when the Corporation picked him up and detoxed him. She brushed those thoughts away, checked her harquebus (no harm in being prepared), patted the CG in her pocket, and glanced at Uri'Krytos. He was laying on the ground, mostly covered in snow. Forty-five worked quickly, taking no notice of his victim's sullen scowl. Mim knew Krytos, like all Yeh-Ket, hated the cold, but also knew that he was tough enough to stick it out. She glanced around, then plucked a winterrose, somehow managed to avoid slicing herself on its razor thorns, and stuck it in her hair. Every little detail helped. The slayers came over the hill's edge carefully, wielding an assortment of rifles, crossbows, and swords. In their business, every passing traveller could be an ambush waiting to happen. The leader looked around, taking the group in. "Hail, travellers. What is your business in Summerfrost?" Obviously he perceived that they were not from that region, though he probably would have been surprised to learn just how right he was. "We travel on business. I am Manak, son of Cyron. These are Mim, Defyve, and J." Manak was their unofficial spokesperson, being more familiar with the locality. "Well met, Manak. I am Anthor Hryggson. These are my compatriots. Their names are their own, for a slayer never knows who may remember him." "I fear no man," one said, "so any man may have my name. I am Bjorn Steele." Now that was interesting. Jacob Steele was the ruler of Summerfrost, and unless there were two Bjorn Steeles, this was his brother. "Well met, slayers. May the Light guide your hunt." "It has," Anthor replied. "Two felfay have fallen to us this past three days, and we track a third. The three of them have troubled the people hereabouts for too long. Alas, I fear we cannot linger for idle chatter. We must contine our pursuit. Farewell, and travel with caution. We have heard tales of a creature lurking the snows, a hulking beast as black as night." "Sounds hideous indeed. Perhaps some new kind of Bane? It does not sound like a felfay." Manak's sense of humor left a great deal to be desired. "Perhaps. Farewell again." "Farewell." The slayers took their leave. Mim watched them walk off into the snow. "They're gone," she announced once they were out of sight. With a gasp, Krytos burst from the snow, shedding a cloud of snow. Mim shielded her eyes against the wave of powder. "At last. Let us quickly be gone." He shook himself and started walking. "How are you feeling, Kry?" J asked. "Cold," he growled. "Very, very cold." Mim shook her head and suppressed a smile.KnarledOne1 Dec 17, 2013
Dec 17, 2013 RP idea Premise: You are a member of an Organization known as the Omega Initiative, a group of human supremacists with a deep seated love of Terran unity and hate of all things Protoss and Zerg, including Terrans who would work with them, such as Raynor and technically Kerrigan. You are a Phantom, an elite Psionic warrior who's mind and body has been trained and augmented to shatter any defense an opponent has, be it mentally or physically, and kill them without mercy or second thought. The Omega Initiative's home base is on the ice world Borin just outside known space, and it opens with the main base having barely avoided a Tal'Darim scouting party. So I know racial supremacy isn't exactly popular, but it's an idea I had a couple days ago that I've been toying with. What do y'all think?Zarkun17 Dec 17, 2013
Dec 14, 2013 Introduction to the RTS Genre Hello, Let me just preface this post by venting my excitement for this game. At 20 years old I've been a gamer since I was 5, but somehow overlooked the RTS genre when I was younger. I got a PS3 for free though, so I just couldn't justify upgrading my PC anymore, fiscally speaking. Finally having built a decent gaming computer now, I'm able to move back home to the PC. With my return I wanted something a bit more cognitively stimulating, so I naturally gravitated to the RTS genre, and I have to say I'm clicking with it fantastically. I've only gotten into the second mission and I've already been mentally mapping out a lot of different strategic elements for later and really getting into the game and finding enjoyment a game hasn't given me in years. What sort of tips might people have, just generally speaking, for navigating SC2? Community culture, general playing tips, any ideas you might want to share to somebody brand new both to SC2 and to the RTS genre in general?MrLavaLamp3 Dec 14, 2013

Dec 11, 2013 The Long Voyage Home. Years ago, the United Earth Directorate sent an expeditionary force to the Koprulu Sector, seeking to end the threat of the Zerg and Protoss and reclaim the colonies that had long since claimed their independence. The Terran defenders had naught but fragile alliances with aliens and an unquenchable certainty that the land they stood on belonged to them. The UED had numbers, technology, experience, and the backing of an empire that had been built upon thousands of years of Earth history. Thus, they can hardly be blamed for being unable to even comprehend what had happened when they were defeated. The power of Old Earth was broken then, perhaps forever. According to the Terrans of Koprulu, Earth had not even heard of its children’s failure. What had once been a mighty fleet became mere dust upon the cosmic wind, the scraps of metal that had once made up Battlecruisers carried out into the endless void to be forever lost, the men who had once made the journey to conquer a Sector reduced to frozen ash, for the Swarm would not be so easily undone. Those few of the would-be conquerors who survived huddled together in the dark corners of the universe, quaking lest their vengeful foes seek them out. Some mixed with the Terran natives. Others turned to piracy. Others still perished, and does it matter whether they did so fighting to the death in hopeless battle or slumped across a table in a bar, their blood thinned by alcohol? No matter which of these paths they chose, they chose to forget… to forget that which they could never have again, to forget the broken dreams of the past, to forget the families and friends they had left behind. Some remembered. Some could never forget the rolling hills, vast seas, and lush forests of Earth. Some could never forget the Man in the Moon. Some could never rid themselves of the wave of disappointment they felt when they looked up at the sky and saw not the Sun, but a star, foreign and unloving. Nor could they forget the friends they had lost… and the friends they had not. They met in secret, shared drinks… and spoke of home. Now, a group of friends will meet in their usual place for the last time. They will make a decision that will change their lives. They will risk everything, sacrificing the new for the mere sliver of a hope for the old. The path they take will be dangerous, but they will not go unarmed. They have courage, dedication, and most importantly friendship. They will lean on each other for support when the very ground beneath their feet gives way. But will they survive the Long Voyage Home? Dec 11, 2013 ROGTARholy's Teaxt Adventure Story Collective (This is not a continuation per-say, but a collective archive without interruption of my currently ongoing text adventure. I would put down all in one post but there are character limits in place that don't allow me the privilege... For the original go to this link here: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/2593046941?page=1 for part 2 and to participate: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/3082028338?page=1#0) You start to regain consciousness in a room filled with light, you keep your eyes closed so as to slowly get used to your surroundings. There are others in the room, you sense them and can hear them communicating about you, your health, and your well-being. You sense worry in their tones, but you cannot understand them just yet. As you get used to the intensity of the light you try to remember what happened and where you are. Thinking hard, you only remember bug-like animals tearing through walls in a burned building. You remember suddenly that the names of these creatures are Zerglings, and then everything else is a blank. Your concern and shock are noticed by the room's other occupants. Keeping calm and feigning rest, you attempt to listen to what they are saying. "It seems he is awake, yet he attempts to feign sleep. Rise Great One so that we may ascertain the extent of your injuries." You hear this voice, and yet do not hear it. This alarms you somewhat as you do not understand. Opening your eyes you see the two figures. Their mouth-less faces and bright eyes look at you in delight at your recovery. The olive-drab on the right 'speaks' to you with a soothing feminine tone, "Executor, I'm sure you must be in need of rest, but we need your advice on what to do." You listen calmly, still unsure of what to do but reserving judgment on whether to trust these Protoss. As you wait for this "Executor" to respond the masculine grey Protoss on the left seems to realize something. "You do not remember us do you Executor? I do not sense any recognition from you, and i also sense you do not trust us." He gestures to the olive-drab in sadness. "I believe our beloved Executor has suffered amnesia, what are we to do now Solaris?" "We can do nothing now, pull back the fleet, prepare to warp out of the area; we must tend to our Executor's wounds." You sense the fleet preparing to move out, the organized chaos that is the Protoss within the Khala. As orders start to move off the male Protoss comes closer and asks you "Executor, you may not remember us or any of our names, maybe you do not remember your own, but you are still in charge. Do you wish for Praetor Solaris's orders to continue or do you believe that you are well enough to take command?" The male Protoss prods you again, "Executor, I am Praetor Hamas, and I must know if you wish for us to retreat?" You can feel the flurry of activity being engaged as the ships around start their countdowns, and you sense a small growing anxiety from certain members of the crew as well. You tell Hamas "Praetor Solaris may be right in her appropriation of command, but I cannot make any decision here. Lead me to the bridge so that I may know the extent of ourselves and our foes." Hamas face beams with pride and admiration as he leads you through hallways to the bridge. You recognize various bits and pieces as you walk with him but cannot recall details as you hurry along. As you enter the bridge Solaris and the bridge crew turn to see you and are shocked that you have come so quickly. You notice runes that depict the name of the ship as "The Ravenous Spirit" and that the crew's spirits seem to be uplifted at your sight, although near the left of the bridge some of the crewers are growing more anxious. As the crew returns to their duties Solaris comes to you. "Executor, I had not thought you would have recovered so quickly, if your memories are back I may relinquish my command, but if you are not well, I suggest you rest while i command the fleet's retreat." Hamas steps back in shock. "How dare you order our Executor around, memories or not he is an Executor, more experienced and powerful then all of us here." Solaris counters, "He was our Executor, now he is a Protoss who has lost his memory of war and battle. He continues to hold rank, but as I see it he is currently unfit to wear it." You stand there observing this conflict between what appears to be your two most trusted lieutenants, and feel the rest of the crew continuing their actions, while the crewmen on the left seem to grow more fearful and anxious. You get the inclination that the full scale retreat is the correct move and choose not to stop Solaris's decision. For some reason you also get an errant thought about playing some Terran game call Dance Dance Revolution, whatever that could be. A call comes from the crewmen on the left as you attempt to puzzle out where this though could have come from. "Zerg Swarm has enveloped our warp point; there is no escape from them!" Solaris turns her attention to the crewmen, directing calming telepathic senses to them. "We will push through their forces and continue on. Have the Relinquisher and the Grand Justice launch all interceptors and Phoenix, also tell them to cover the fleet as we jump." Hamas stares in utter surprise. "Are you insane? Having them launch and cover us as well will be suicidal for them. It would be quite literally leaving them behind to be consumed by the Zerg." He looks to you, "Executor please take charge, must you leave any Protoss behind for our own survival?" Solaris comes close to Hamas and glares at him not 5 inches away, "You may be young but the Fall of Auir was well within your lifetime. Remember how many were left behind so that our brethren could retreat to Shakuras? Remember the loss of heroes such as Tassadar and Fenix? Their falls allowed the majority of our race to escape; now others must emulate what they have done. Their sacrifices shall not be in vain." As Hamas stands dumbfounded, Solaris moves back to the command chair. "Executor, come and see this. If you have any knowledge, memory, experience, anything that might have us continue on, please take this weight back and lead our fleet to victory." You look at her and feel the emotional dread of what shall come from her orders. You then look on the tactical Hologram that shows your fleet and the Zerg Swarm. Ten Carrier-class vessels, two Arbiter-class, and fourteen Scout/Corsair Escorts are under the fleet's command. The Zerg appear to have seven Devourers, eight Corrupters, and forty Mutalisks interspersed by numerous Scourge within the system. Zerg have clustered near the warp point, while an asteroid field is off to the right only three kilometers away. The Zerg have surrounded the entire fleet, but are concentrated at the warp point two kilometers away. With this knowledge and Solaris's current plan of retreat, you know that it’s possible to still take command if you so choose, as by rank you are the Executor, although by Solaris's declaration you are still struggling to remember battle tactics. You say "Solaris I shall take command, have all Carriers launch Interceptors and Phoenix to destroy the Scourge, assign four Corsairs to escort the Arbiters as they move into a flanking formation, when they arrive I want a recall of all Escort class ships and have the Scouts focus on the Armored Zerg. Phoenix shall remain with our Carriers and fight off the Light Zerg, the Corsairs shall perform the same function for our Arbiters." The entire bridge looks at you then towards Solaris. She glares at them. "He is the Executor, follow his orders!" The bridge explodes into action as the fleet takes a new formation. Solaris gives her seat up to you as Hamas comes up to your side. "I knew you would take command and give us victory!" Hamas beams with pride. Solaris comes up behind him and kicks him in the knee to have him kneel. "This battle is NOT won yet, it has barely even begun, stop acting like a child and look before you as the fight truly begins!" Hamas gives Solaris a vengeful look but says nothing. You view the fleet starting to perform your orders through the hologram. The Interceptors and Phoenix are launched from the Carriers and the Arbiters start to push toward a weaker section of the Zerg encirclement. Interceptors attack the Scourge inside the heaviest part of the formation; dogfights erupt as similarly sized foes dodge and duck, each trying to avoid each others' threats and dishing their own. The Phoenix stay at the forward arc of the Carriers' formation making potshots at the Mutalisks and Scourge that attempt to attack the Carrier formations. The Arbiters get into position after a short skirmish, and recall the Escort class ships. Scouts and Corsairs move among the Zerg, diverting their attention from the Carrier fleet. A sudden Psionic burst blows through ALL combatants. Protoss and Zerg Alike are stunned by this sudden burst of Psionic Energy. The Zerg, influenced by the Overseers and Overlords among them, reorganize and start to swarm and concentrate solely on the Arbiter force as their fleet recover. Some of your Carrier's bridge crew have become catatonic, and you feel the other carriers around you are not fully combat ready as well.ROGTARholy36 Dec 11, 2013
Dec 11, 2013 ??? K0-0RG 2P_WRL-WRL_PRD-SMP2. Periphery, the Great Swamp. On his last night, Jackson was warming his hands by a crackling fire, taking careful, occasional sips from a mug of hot cider, and thoroughly enjoying himself for the first time in a long time. Ironically, he had on many past nights been certain ahead of time of his own impending demise, yet had somehow survived. It was as he sat there, contemplating his contentedness with the situation, that things suddenly began to go downhill. He turned, reaching for his knife, as another man crashed through the underbrush and into the campsite. "What's your hurry, Craw? You look like you've seen a ghost." T'hrakas, the big one, was similarly enjoying his moment by the fire, and loath to be interrupted. He always responded to things that irritated him with laughter and humor. Jackson was not so inclined, and was also not inclined to laugh at the look on the breathless youth's face. I was enjoying myself, he thought with frustration. Somewhere deep inside, he knew what Craw was going to say before he said it. I was having a good evening. "They're coming," Craw gasped. "They're coming. At least a dozen of 'em." T'hrakas choked on his cider. "They're... who? Where? You don't mean..." "Scythes," Jackson finished grimly. "It's the Scythes." A shriek echoed through the night, as if to confirm his words. It was joined by several other voices, their owners lifting chilling howls to the pale lights above. Jackson and T'hrakas were moving in an instant. Craw, frozen with horror, didn't move at first. Then a shape, humanoid but black as the darkest night, rose behind him. Jackson hurled his knife and the creature fell back, hissing. Craw ran. "We need to get to the hill," the boy said panting. "We need to warn the others." "Warn them?" T'hrakas said, with a bark of bitter laughter. "For all the good that will do. What are these things doing here?" They're not supposed to see us, Jackson thought. We're not supposed to exist for them. Had the Brotherhood codes been wrong? Had they been discovered? It wouldn't be the first time the Corporation had screwed up. If the Brotherhood discovered unauthorized use of their systems, their first act would be to shut down the divider. Surely corporate would have warned us, he thought. Unless... Was it possible that the Brotherhood had just waited for the Scythes to come along before revealing the group? Had they been set up? "Who goes there?" Yelled the sentry. "Us, Bark. We got trouble. Scythes." The man lowered his spear. Jackson couldn't see him properly, but he could practically hear the man's eyes widen. "W-why should that be a problem? They'll just pass us by, right?" His assertion was suddenly disproven, and his voice turned to a strangled cry. Jackson didn't see what got him, but wasn't interested in meeting his fate. He reached for his sword. T'hrakas thought differently. He dashed forward, tackling the dark form that had leapt onto Bark. There was a brief scuffle, a hiss, and T'hrakas rose. The Scythe did not. The three continued. Atop the hill, they found the camp occupied by two Scythes and two human corpses, still bleeding into the mud. The creatures leapt to the attack. Jackson gutted one on the tip of his sword, and T'hrakas caught the other's staff in hand. He pushed hard at it, struggling to keep the curving blade at the pole's end away from himself. Suddenly the Scythe fell, letting out a almost human moan. Craw was behind it, bloody knife in his hand. Thank Heaven for small mercies, Jackson thought as T'hrakas finished the Scythe with its own weapon. A sudden noise behind him prompted him to whirl, bringing his sword up. He caught the first Scythe's blade on his own, then dealt it a blow to the leg that brought it to the ground. It cut him on the thigh as it fell, fierce to the end, but his next blow found its neck. It collapsed, pinning his sword to the ground. Another Scythe rushed up the slope towards him as he struggled to pull his sword free, but Craw hit it in the leg with an arrow. It stumbled, started to step forward, and then fell, T'hrakas' arrow sticking out of its chest. "Ha!" The big man said, elbowing the boy. He was a significantly better shot, and rarely missed. "That's how you-" He sprouted an arrow from his left eye. Scythes were better still, and never missed. "T...T'hrak?" Craw stuttered. Jackson tackled him, pushing him inside the ring of stakes that formed the team's makeshift hill fort. Climbing a ladder that leaned against the wall, he looked out to see what had become of the other camps. Their fires were still burning, but their was no sign of movement. A cry rang out, signaling (he guessed) the last survivor's demise. Jackson dropped from his perch and turned to face the enemy. Craw was kneeling, weeping. T'hrakas was dead. The two men who had been sleeping in the stockade were dead, their throats slit as they slept. Only two? There should have been more. Where are the others? he wondered. As he was wondering, two Scythes walked softly into the stockade. He ran at them, sword at the ready. Focused on Craw, the Scythes were unprepared. He brought one down with his first blow, then struck at the other one, wounding its arm. Hissing, it fought back tenaciously, striking blow after blow with almost impossible speed. Its blows quickly slowed, though, courtesy of its injured arm, and he got in a stab at its chest. It fell, clutching its heart and gasping. Jackson turned toward Craw. He was laying motionless on the ground. A Scythe stood over him, the biggest Jackson had ever seen. It bore a massive sickle sword, a weapon not entirely unheard of for Scythes to use, though much less common than their namesake weapon. He was too young, Jackson thought, wincing at Craw's body. He shouldn't have even been here. The Scythe clacked its mandibles together, spread its arms, then said something in its silky, snaky language. Jackson didn't speak it. As far as he knew, only Scythes spoke it. Not even the Brotherhood had cracked Scythe yet. He decided to take the shot the beast had given him. He tried a quick cut at its stomach. As he expected, it immediately took a swipe at his head, one fast and strong enough to decapitate him in an instant. He was ready, though, and his sword was in the way fast enough to cause a look of surprise to spread across the Scythe's face. That was nothing compared to the look of surprise on Jackson's face when the Scythe's blade cut through his own like he was holding a piece of rotten wood. He fell back away from the shower of sparks and ear-piercing noise of metal being rent, shielding his eyes. He stared at the broken remnants of his sword for a moment. The Scythe laughed at him. Hatred welled up within him. As the Scythe advanced towards him, lifting its blade lazily, every curse he knew rose to his lips. He didn't curse the Scythe, the Brotherhood, or even the foul luck that had brought him here. "Gnarled One," he spat, as though the man was standing in front of him. "Damn you, Gnarled One." The blade descended.KnarledOne2 Dec 11, 2013

Dec 9, 2013 Starcraft 2 Trivia This is something I've seen from other games, and I think it'd be fun to do it here. Here's how it works: Someone asks an SC2-related trivia question and people try to guess the answer. Whoever guesses correctly first makes the new question. Here are the rules: 1. Questions may only relate to gameplay itself. This can include any part of multiplayer play, the WoL campaign, or official Blizzard SC2 minigames such as Aiur Chef. No questions regarding who won what tournament, etc. (but feel free to start such a thread yourself). 2. Any questions related to unit strength must relate to the most recent patch only. If a patch is released during the guessing of such a question, the correct answer remains as it was before that patch. 3. Questions must be designed to have cut-and-dry answers. "What Terran unit or units hard-counter colossi?" is acceptable, but "What is the best Protoss build vs. Zerg?" is not. 4. Questions may have multiple parts and/or multiple answers (but try to be reasonable!). 5. Only one answer attempt per post. You can guess again later if you didn't get it right, but you can't guess in back-to-back posts. 6. The person asking the question should let the person know who got the correct answer when it happens. After this, that person is up for the next trivia question. 7. If confirmation of a correct answer happens by mistake, the guessing continues or goes to the first person that actually got it right. However, if this is not discovered until after another question has been correctly guessed, the game continues as-is. 8. If the person confirmed to get the question right does not post a new question within a week, the next person in line who guessed it correctly gets to go, and so forth. Also, if the person who originally gave the question does not show up after a week to confirm the right answer, yet people remaining in the thread overwhelmingly agree the answer is correct, that person gets the next question. Dec 4, 2013 Savagery Among the Orderly (AoS RP) All the children saw was darkness, and all they felt was betrayal. They weren't shown the Aeon of Strife, but put into a world of darkness, the Preserver had lied to them! Then they felt something. Their body was moving, their hands pushing themselves up and eyes starting to open, they hadn't commanded that. They weren't in control of their own bodies. They were resident in another Protoss' body. The children saw the lush green canopy around them, one full of life and beauty. It was a jungle, no... No it was the jungle, the jungle of Aiur. One at a time the Protoss were getting up and the children saw around them, corpses all over the place and the area covered in blue and purple blood, sunlight reflecting off of it, and as the bodies they were in looked at each they saw battered and bruised bodies standing and staring at the corpses. The children weren't lied to, they were being shown the Aeon of Strife from the eyes of Protoss who lived through it. They heard the Preserver's presence in their minds, and their heads flood with knowledge and memories, straight from their host's own mind. Then, almost a small stinging pain appears and disappears as a one-way Psionic link is formed between each child and their host's mind, all information going towards the children. This link is completed after the group of Protoss had agreed that it would be best to return home. Okay everyone, finally has started, you get to control your character now and engage conversations, if you guys don't want to do that I'll just skip you back to the village." http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/9753205999 The Pre-RP, so essentially sign up thread.ShadowFury3 Dec 4, 2013

Nov 22, 2013 Epilogue RP Thread VIII Drac: OOC: Hey everyone, Drac is back for a final RP! This will bring the Poltergeist plot arc to a close, so if you had anything important to bring up, bring it up now. Also, for the love of all things, please try to stay in a group, so you can be kept track of. All Poltergeist characters will be in one of three fleets: the Assault fleet, which will attack Splitters head-on, the Evacuation Fleet, which will get orders based on who needs to be saved, and the Network Fleet, which will defend core areas. Character sheet pt 1 ^Draconus^ Agent Shadow 137 Hybrid Poltergeist Founder, Commander-in-chief Psionic Assault, Technological development Has sent the beacon call to all surviving students of his, as well as all major combatants from previous wars. Believes himself to be the most powerful psionic in existence (which was true until recently- the anomaly known as Game Lord outclasses him several thousand times over, in all respects) All of them. Agent Umbra 137 Hybrid Poltergeist Admiral Psionic Assault, Psychological Warfare A force to be reckoned with, even among the not-to-be-taken-lightly Poltergeist Mercenaries. A known cannibal. Has shown remarkable skill in Poltergeist's new PART program. Twin sister of Shadow. Joan Rose Molina-Ravius; "Eon Butcher" 75 Hybrid Poltergeist NOT RANKED Psionic Assault, Anti-Armor Despite formally unenlisting from direct service, Mrs. Molina-Ravius still actively patrols routes for the Mercenaries. Shadow's daughter. Pyro Molina-Ravius; "Sun God" (Also used by Fury) 44 Hybrid Poltergeist Sergeant Assault, Psionic Assault, PART division Famous for field actions both here in the Sector and in his grandfather's interdimensional exploits. Class-13 psionic, Class-15 pyrokinetic. Son of Joan Rose Molina-Ravius, Grandson of Agent Shadow. Terra Molina-Ravius; "Earth Goddess" (Also used by Zark) 44 Hybrid Poltergeist Sergeant Assault, Psionic Assault, PART division Exactly like her twin brother in almost every respect- however, instead of being pyrokinetic, she controls stone and metal objects. Twin sister of Pyro, Daughter of Joan, Granddaughter of Shadow. SCAR-77 Sara Kiwi Just Built Loyalty: Shade, but ultimately Poltergeist Combat Specialty: Damage Absorption Ms. Kiwi was a loved ally of Shade (read Reckoning for more details), but sadly perished. An unknown party paid in full for Kiwi's reconstruction as a SCAR unit, and fully upgraded her, making her look exactly like the original, but armed with enough firepower to level a city block. Not used to being a machine yet, she repeatedly tries to test herself, and apparently fights with all her mental might to defy orders she dislikes. Being programmed into the SCAR body, however, prevents her from doing so. ^LeKroger^ Johnathan Flint Jr. 55 Hybrid Poltergeist Commander of battle cruiser Illador Mechanics, Psionic support/assault One of three Flint triplets and take the most after his father. After the final events with the Collective Triad he has been searching the sector and some parts beyond for Flint Sr, who is currently missing and deemed KIA by most. He has recently returned to the sections after receiving word of what happened to the planet of Braxis. Outraged by the actions of the Splitters he is currently en-route to Braxis to confront the Game Lord. Techsuit,FOCC Leah Flint "Seductress" 55 Hybrid Poltergeist Unranked Information gathering, Chemical/Technical specialist, Diplomacy, Psionic support/Assault Another of the Flint triplet who shares traits that both of her brothers have. Tends to go for the most recent tech that she can obtain as in her eyes newer is always better despite what her Jr. and Sr. said. She is not currently ranked in Poltergeist as she decide to go off on her own only stopping by to visit from time to time. However with the recent events with the Splitters she has returned to the Poltergeist headquarters to aid as she can. Techsuit,FOCC Ivan Flint "Grey Eyes" 55 Hybrid Poltergiest Lieutenant PART Division Infiltration, Demolitions, Assassinations, Interrogation. The last of the Flint triplets, Ivan does not posses the ability to alter his form like his sister and brother aside from multiplying his arms for dealing more strikes. He instead posses more of his mothers abilities, namely the feared detonator egg. He does have minor psionics that allow him to cloak himself and manipulate the surrounding shadows around him. He is the only one of the three that is in the new PART division. Also unlike the other two he is the only one that has some idea of what actually happened to their father due to inheriting his father's, and his father's old friend before that, personal AI Delta. On a final note all three of the Flint children share the same link that their father and others like him have. Techsuit,FOCC ShadowFury Name: Korzis Ravius Age: 74 Species: Hybrid (Protoss/Human) Sub-group: Relations to Poltergeist, but for most part, none. Rank: Ex-Commander Military specialty: Assault Relevant info: Is honorable in battle and fights with fury and Psionics. He is the child of Zaros and Bianca "Shade" Ravius. His Psionic capabilities are great, and he is plagued by the Void-like Psionic Entity dubbed the 'Demon'. Married to Joan Molina-Ravius. Previous RPs in the Poltergeist vein: Reckoning (Fetus and baby), Z&Z 2, PKA Second Class, Techsuit, FOCC Name: Kayla Ravius Age: 23 Species: Hybrid (Protoss/Human) Sub-group: None Rank: Lacking Military specialty: None Relevant info: She holds an allegance to no one and has a rebellious streak. She is the youngest child of Joan Molina-Ravius and Korzis Ravius. She is the only child to have been plagued by the entity dubbed the 'Demon'. She has the odd capability to remove the Psionic capabilites around her when it is wished. Previous RPs in the Poltergeist vein: None Name: Zaros Age: 85 Species: Hybrid (Human/???) Sub-group: Himself Military Ranking: Mercenary Military Specialty: Psionic & Melee Combat Relevant Info: Zaros is the father to Korzis Ravius and Cynthia Ravius. Shows ability to control the 'Demon' if it breaks out within him. He is an astounding swordsman and has gained relations with multiple groups, but is not loyal to any. His old supression of emotion has waned and he now shows it once more. Previous RPs: PKA, Reckoning, PKA Second Class, FOCCLeKroger439 Nov 22, 2013
Nov 13, 2013 The Discovery Hey Joeyray's bar people. Bit odd but I only just now discovered code blocks. It's built in to our comments, that button no body uses that says 'pre' next to the quote button. I just realized after discovering it, it would be a really good tool for you guys. You could use code blocks for your posts that are in character, and normal text (like this) for your posts that are out of character. it It would make it super easy for people to follow the story and add an organizing element to your forum games. You could use it for some other purpose too. Like have only the GM write in code blocks so everyone can jump straight to their post. It gives you the ability basically to have special text that stands out, and any organizing element like that can help a text game. Just thought I'd share it with you because I've been on these forums for quite a while and just never knew it existed, so I'm betting a lot of other people didn't either. Have fun guys! Tre-vor flies away in his space-moon. Trevor6 Nov 13, 2013
Nov 11, 2013 I'm a bit confused... (Heroes of the Storm) Originally this was announced as a mod for SC2, along the same lines of StarJeweled, Aiur Chef, and Left 2 Die- actually, I think it was announced at the exact same time and planned to be released along side of them. Is it now intended to be a standalone game, or is it still going to be a mod? That was never made clear on the site for it, and they don't have forums up for it there, so I figured this would be the best place to ask.MarioFanXV1 Nov 11, 2013

You follow suit and a marine awaits near the entrance. He motions the group to follow him through the heavily enforced neosteel doors and some time later, he leads you to a door. A sign hangs over the door and printed clearly on the label is “Processing Center”. The marine turns towards the group and yawns. He takes out a PDA and mutters to himself. Through the visor, the marine's eyes look quite bored. “Alright then newcomers, this is for clearance to make sure you can work here. We just gotta make sure you are who you are. Typical background checks. Regular stuff. You know the drill. Just make sure to look it in the eye." Nov 7, 2013 Write Up a Storm What the title says! Being busy with visiting friends, I am incapable of making LVH move as fast as it should. Therefore, I have created this both to buy time and to hopefully garner new, interesting concepts for said RP. In the Long Voyage Home, our characters will be encountering a lot of interesting and bizarre alien worlds and possibly ||CENSORED|| Have you ever had an idea for a unique world, where indigenous creatures and visitors alike are forced to adapt to cope with its dangerous weather? Well, this is essentially a weather contest. I want to hear your most creative, unique, and downright crazy ideas for environments. A planet with vertical continents? Water that falls upwards? Organic hurricanes? Whatever you can think up qualifies, especially if a visit to your environment would be interesting for the protagonists of LVH. The weather conditions, environments, and anomalies most usable may be encountered later in LVH (I'm not going to announce ahead of time if an idea is picked). I may select a favorite and give the creator a prize, like for example a GET OUT OF DEATH FREE card to save one of their characters. Signing off for now. I am excited to see what you guys can come up with.KnarledOne10 Nov 7, 2013

Nov 2, 2013 Gate to Infinity PRP A group of about 500 people are gathered in the main cargo hold of a Hercules class transport as it descends through the atmosphere. A gruff man stands in front of the group with a middle aged woman and a relatively young Protoss sitting to the side away from the main group, they are obviously in charge. "You all, as you should already know, are part of an independent organization, known as Obsidian Corporation, that works outside of and beyond the various Ruling Powers in the sector. You have been recruited from all over Terran and/or Protoss space and all walks of life. You have been selected to be a part of an expedition to new and uncharted territory." The transport is now through the atmosphere and beginning to descend into the hole that is well protected by a decently sized Terran and Protoss base. "An ancient Xel-Naga installation that predates everything previously found in Koprulu has been found deep beneath the ice of a frozen world that had once been lush and green. The installation is mostly intact and inside a moderately sized dome from a long since deactivated shield. The most interesting thing however is the large 30' diameter ring covered in strange symbols." The wall behind the man giving the briefing comes alive showing sectional pictures of a large ring with strange markings and what looked like constellations on the inner ring. "Upon closer examination the ring, which has been identified as a variant Xel-Naga warp gate, has a single set of coordinates locked in, which is in the form of 9 of the symbols on the inner part of the ring. We dialed the address and got a solid connection as well as managed to send a probe through. There is an instillation just like the one on this side except that it seems to be in much better shape and much warmer. It was also discovered we would be able to send a decent sized expedition through the gate before the power source depletes. You are that expedition! Anyone have any questions before we leave and this is your last chance to back out?!" You are part of the Expedition specializing in one of various skill sets. Medical personnel, Military, Scientists et cetera. This RP is not going to take place in the Koprulu sector nor even in the Milky Way. You'll begin on the Hercules-class Transport ship as the briefing is wrapping up.[b] If you have ever watched the TV series Stargate Atlantis yes this is similar. There will be some humans scattered on different worlds but will generally have very little in the way of tech and be entirely native to that galaxy. Also there won't be any contact with the Koprulu sector for a while in the RP as the gate won't have the power for an intergalactic wormhole thus trade with the indigenous populations will be a must, more friends is a good thing. Interstellar wormholes between gates will be the main mode of travel between planets and star system. [b]There will NOT be any zerg allowed no 'ifs, ands or buts' about it. CMC grade Power armor is allowed but please keep its use to a minimum unless the group has gone off world and even then please try to keep use to minimum and have lighter armor available to your character. Protoss may of course have zealot suits or High Templar armor etc. but please don't have an immortal/dragoon or mech bigger than a sentry or observer(an observer is sketchy to have though and I will have to debate on it) there will also be several protoss probes but their ability to warp in buildings will be nullified given the distances involved. Also going to limit the numbers, and maybe the powers, of Psionic Terrans. I would love a decent mix of scientists, medical personnel and military crew, now this does not limit scientists and medical personnel from having weapons or combat experience/training/abilities but please don't only make military personnel. Just about everyone will be going on off world missions. If you wish me to fish out a character from the old Gate Project I can. ^RPer name^ Name: Race: Age: Skill Sets and/or primary field of training: Abilities: (such as snipe, stimpacks, etc.) Appearance: Equipment: (Armor, weapons, etc.) Backstory:TheLostMorph29 Nov 2, 2013
Nov 1, 2013 New guide to get better FPS is finished! I made this guide as a replacement for an older version. Maybe you've read the old version, this is just a large scale improvement over it. You can help it by thumbing up the first 8 posts and sharing it. Just thought some of you might find it helpful. http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/10195020800Duke0 Nov 1, 2013
Oct 29, 2013 Tre-Vor Floats into Joeyray's Bar Game is now closed. Xer the original post to you is below, just the first paragraph saying hi and letting you know I got your message. -------------------------- I have infiltrated your dimension to seek the one named, "XER". Hey everybody, I didn't know this section of the forums existed until I was directed here by the fellow ^ there. So, just saying hi and letting him know I got the message. Nice to see there is an RP board in the sc2 forums, I really had no idea. So this thread is not an entire waste I might as well start something here. While I'd love to do a joke-based thread similar to the posts that lead me here, I did read the sticky and noticed it says fan fiction. So I think I'm supposed stay within the SC universe? Let me know and I'll update this post with a theme for everyone to RP off of. ... In that case, I'll use my own world, because it is a sci-fan and I have been a GM for tabletop games pretty much my whole life so it will do. SETUP: Welcome, beleaguered travellers to the planet Aurah set in the system known as D.R.A.G.E. You find yourself in a clean hotel room on an investigative task given to you all by Colonel Gim. In order to join this game all you need do is post. I'm going to try doing something a little loose here and just let you all fly and see what happens. Try your best to make it coherent, and first players use the starting setup I give you in this letter. LETTER FROM THE COLONEL: My trusted confidantes and team of interplanetary investigators, Nem the 'Rhino' has been on the loose rampaging over a loss of credits (money) on a bad drug deal. The drug is known as STINT and it's highly toxic to most humanoids. As you know, Nem is a large reptoid so be careful! He didn't get that nickname for nothing. I want you guys to find him and bring him to justice. He was last seen somewhere in this hotel, here in Sector 5 of the planet Aurah. - Col. Gim ----------------- After the first responders post you play off of the last poster and make it up as you go along. Have fun!You are now in playTrevor17 Oct 29, 2013
Oct 29, 2013 War Pigs: Origins Vince Makins dropped the folder in Captain Brock Tailor's lap. "Your mission is simple. Read the files. Assemble your men. Do what you do best." Captain Tailor glanced at the folder, then fixed his eyes on Vince. "This better be good, Makins." Brock warned Vince as he picked up the folder and flipped to the first page. the word 'Classified' was plastered just about everywhere he looked. "Good or not, it's your job. I know you can get it done, Tailor." Brock sighed heavily and lit a cigarette. After reading the first paragraph he knew the assignment would push him and his team to the limits. "We're good, Vince, but we ain't invincible." "Ultimately, you and your men are all expendable. You must know that. I mean, why else recruit from the prison herd? The War Pigs program is all about meat. Recycled meat." Brock's eyebrow perked and he shifted in his chair. "Well then, recycled meat is about to take out your trash." Oct 15, 2013 Epilogue RP Thread VII Drac: OOC: Hey everyone, Drac is back for a final RP! Previous RPs: PKA, Reckoning, PKA Second Class, FOCCLeKroger499 Oct 15, 2013
Oct 15, 2013 StarCraft II Wish List... I don't know if it's been raised before but I'm such a big fan of SC and the franchise, I'd like to have a wishlist discussion. I'm basically on my way to developing a continental scale TvZ campaign involving a cooperative hero game for 4~12 players (plus the potential of 4 to 8 more on top). The story behind it is the rise of Dominion against the UED and the plot adheres strongly to the SC storyline. I could imagine scaling the campaign to require SCII: Wings of Liberty for the first two levels and SCII: Heart of the Swarm for the third level. On the fourth, I wish for a third installment in SCII, this time highlighting the Protoss and the third installment will be required for playing the fourth and final level of the campaign. Each campaign level has several primary mission objectives that can be accomplished in 20~30 minutes (typical time to sit down on lunch hour) . So besides a third installment of SCII, the ability to join a game in progress would be nice.ChocSix1 Oct 15, 2013

Oct 11, 2013 Darklight Chronicles The year is 2022, and mankind is fighting a war amongst itself like it's never fought before. Abandoned cities and homes, corpses, skeletons and ruins abound across the world, World War III leaving it's mark everywhere. A voice echoes in the room you're sitting in on an airship, telling the tale of your powers origin. "During the dark ages, some members of the human race could perform incredible feats, such as summon a sword from thin air or pull their sword to them after being disarmed, or even shooting fire from their own hands. This became known as magic and was the source of many great legends. However, a little known fact was these powers were gifted to humans who were meant to fulfill a special role in history. However, as time went on, these roles began to become scarce, with the "wizards" who filled them soon fading into myth as well. Myth became legend and legend became nothing as each tale was forgotten and man's need for the wizards vanished. Soon he became technologically advanced, gaining enough confidence that kingdom attacked kingdom, then country attacked country. For hundreds of years, this was the cycle, peace, war, peace, war; until the fights began on the home front. At first they were left alone, thought to be kidnappings and murders with a well learned criminal master mind. That was before the messages and video feeds from military units began pouring in, showing and mentioning strange soldiers that could do strange things, some reports even claimed superhuman things. One, however, stood out in particular. Specialist James T. Hitchcock, the 145th Infantry Regiment's Second Platoon's radioman was out on patrol in the area of Zimbabwe when a small group of the soldiers attacked them. The video will pick up just moments before the attack." ... The video ends and a man in a formal suit walks into view, the color of which reflects his aura, a deep blue. "You all are here because your aura's are pure enough to be of use to fighting the reemerging threat against us. After careful analyzing of Mister Hitchcock's body, it was discovered he had inherited, through a long line of medieval magicians to modern day soldiers, a pure green aura. Had he not, he would have joined his friends in death." He looks over each of you, his eyes measuring you and evaluating you. "Looking at some of what was described, we discovered that medieval wizards used not magic, but their auras to fuel their spells. Here, you will do the same." A large curtain removes to show a beautiful valley, forests and clearings and a lake and river seeable; and at the end sat Northern Lights Academy, the place where you would learn to use your aura to fight back against other nations and even terrorist cells. "Welcome, to Northern Lights." Countries the US is at war with: Russia China Japan Vietnam North Korea Important Neutral Countries: Germany France Mexico Terrorist Organizations: Al Qeada The Taliban HamasZarkun341 Oct 11, 2013
