Sep 25, 2012 Purchasing new laptop but i need help My gf is getting more into Starcraft 2 and she needs an upgrade definitely ,we plan to buy laptop soon, i know there's some pretty good laptops with Radeon 69xx and up graphics which work pretty well cause my neighbour has one of those but i see some Intel HD i5 laptops working pretty nice as well, Can you help me out by telling me which would be a good pick by letting me know your Windows Experience Score? Her currently laptop has score of 4.0 and it sucks big time when she tries to play and big clashes in fights start. What's a reasonable Windows Experience Score that i should look for when purchasing laptop?RollinDice8 Sep 25, 2012
Sep 24, 2012 I want to game on PC but need mobility I know most people say a gaming laptop really isn't worth it and a PC works 100 times better. But I'm going to college in a year and need my next computer to last. In college, i'm going to need a laptop, the dorms are small and i'm going to have to be taking it to class, the library etc. Currently I've been playing starcraft 2 at minimum setting and cant even run diablo 3 :'(. I've been looking at the Asus 17.3" 8GB memory with a 1TB hard drive. It's selling for $1250 at bestbuy and with my limited knowledge of PC gaming this seems like a decent machine. it's got an intel core i7 processor, NVIDIA GTX 660M graphics card, 1 TB hard drive, 17.3 inch screen. my only concern is will it overheat because its so compact. Please help me out, let me know about any other dependable gaming laptops around the $1300 price range. at this point getting a PC is not an option. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+17.3%26%2334%3B+Laptop+-+8GB+Memory+-+1TB+Hard+Drive+-+Black/5176239.p?id=1218621250769&skuId=5176239 <<< link to the laptopRobbin3 Sep 24, 2012
Sep 24, 2012 Sony Vegas hard drive setup I have 3 hard drives (2 internal hard drives and 1 external hard drive via usb 2.0). The first internal hard drive (Drive C) is where I have Sony Vegas installed. The second internal hard drive (Drive D) is for storage and my external hard drive (Drive F) is also for storage. My question is where should I store the source media files (the original audio/video files that I'll be using to create my Sony Vegas project)? Where do I store my saved Sony Vegas project (like if I'm not finished with my Vegas project and I save it as a .veg file, which drive should I save it to)? Lastly, which drive should I render my project to (the output file)?LyrixCero0 Sep 24, 2012
Sep 23, 2012 Double Clicking Issues (issues c command) Hi SC2 community, I've been having issues with double clicking in games. I play as terran and use double clicking to quickly hotkey all of my buildings, but recently double clicking have been sending the "c" command in addition to selecting all of them. For example, if i have 3 barracks up, and double click a barrack, a reactor would start buidling. This can be very frustrating especially if i'm playing as mech trying to build multiple tech labs on factories, which instead creates reactors when i double click on them. Is this an issue with the game itself or the mouse? I've managed rearrange my hotkeys so that reactor builds using "r", which seems to have fixed the issue, but i can't rearrange every hotkey and learn everything new again. There are still issues, such as double clicking barracks tech lab starts making combat shield (which is sometimes desired, but i still want to control it). I have a Razer Tron gaming mouse. If anyone could help me out that would be great. Thanks.Hemitris0 Sep 23, 2012
Sep 21, 2012 Gaming pc for $2000 So I'm considering getting a brand new pc for $2000 with the intent of lasting at least 5 years and I was wondering if my current choice of CPU and video card is enough or should I get something more worth more for my money CPU is a intel I7 3770 and video card is GeForce GTX 670, rest of the stuff, still deciding to buy in local stores or buying it online... I'm getting both of those at newegg since I really don't know where else to go since I was told to do that by a good friend because he built his pc in a similar way(buy couple of things at newegg and get the not so important parts somewhere else.... Is there something better in store for my money or is that good enough to last more than 5 years? Also, is it better to buy everything in in newegg or is it better to just buy the spare parts everywhere and have it become a pain in the !@#? Any info regarding this is greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance.Herzyr18 Sep 21, 2012

Sep 20, 2012 WoW's community Hey guys I feel WoW's server communities have gotten detached from themselves, but I made a video kind of poking fun at that idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tf2rrpqwjg4&feature=youtu.beBru0 Sep 20, 2012
Sep 20, 2012 Laptop questions Hello everyone. I am looking for an overall good laptop that can run SC2 on ultimate settings. I would be using this for college notes, surfing the internet, but other than that its my second computer that is also portable compared to my desktop. The main function other than school would be gaming. This includes sc2 and league of legends. I have about an 800$ budget and any cheaper would be great but I know graphics and ramare expensive. I would like it to run smoothly and preferably be able to buy it in town instead of online Here are some that i am looking at and I would like your opinions based on my aforementioned criteria: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+Pavilion+15.6%26%2334%3B+Laptop+-+8GB+Memory+-+750GB+Hard+Drive+-+Natural+Silver/5608295.p?id=1218672046425&skuId=5608295 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+14%26%2334%3B+Laptop+-+8GB+Memory+-+750GB+Hard+Drive+-+Aluminum+Gray+Hairline/5587561.p?id=1218667451379&skuId=5587561 I am not too savy with laptops versus my desktop so all help appreciated! Sep 14, 2012 Conclave: Online RPG with a table top feel. After years of playing WoW, I recently discovered the free to play beta of a game called Conclave. I think it will appeal to Blizzard gamers that are looking for something with a more pen and paper, table-top D&D feel to it, and thought I'd share. I also kind of want to help push the project so that it continues to develop since it's already a lot of fun and I'd like to see where it goes. http://www.playconclave.com/Akira0 Sep 14, 2012
Sep 14, 2012 Age of Empires Online $700 Tourney LiveStream We’re hosting a 700$ cash price tournament (http://forums.ageofempiresonline.com/forums/thread/282874.aspx) on Saturday and Sunday 16GMT, which we will be live streaming on (http://twitch.tv/zutazuta) to get the competitive environment going for Age of Empires Online. We’re planning more tournaments for the future. So if you’re an Age of Empires fan and like PvP (no matter whether you play or just watch), please check it out! What is Age of Empires Online? Age of Empires Online is the latest entry of Age of Empires and free to play. While the game has an MMO-like metagame mainly meant for PvE, the core gameplay in PvE quests and PvP matches is pure Age of Empires: Classical base building, four resources, five unique civilizations and more upcoming. If you left AoEO, or never picked it up, because there was a barrier to getting into the kind of PvP game you wanted to play, you should come back: the barrier is gone. We’ve just introduced a new way to PvP, Champion Mode, that puts all players on equal footing from the moment you make a civilization. There’s no need to get gear or level up in Champion Mode: all in-game techs in the tech tree are unlocked, and gear still makes your units look cool, but it doesn’t affect unit stats. Just hop on a Premium civilization and play, simple as that. This game is fun. The pacing is fast—it feels more like AoC than AoM or AoE3—and there is a hard counter system that rewards good micro. Also, because we patch the game most months, balance changes will come more frequently than they did for AoE3. - Milo, Ex-Ensemble Studios Playtester and Age of Empires Online Balance Lead So despites its MMO style in PvE, the game’s champion mode PvP is what’d you expect from a classical AoE game like Age of Empires II: The Conquerors. The PvP mode of the game is getting a lot of love from the developers, with a dedicated balancing team and new features, like the new spectator (observer) mode: Spectator Mode allows 1-3 players observe or "Spectate" 1v1 or 2v2 Arena matches. The Spectator has full access to scouting, build queues, resources, and chat. It is intended to be used by players who are specifically invited to a Party for the purpose of Spectating. As the Spectator, you have an overview of the entire match. You can see all players, their scores, and everything about their resources and what they're building. So what do we want? More PvP players. Simple as that. Age of Empires Online wasn’t great when it was released, but we feel that it definitely deserves a second chance. The game has the potential to be a true successor to the former Age games. So please tune in our AoEO All-Starts tournament on Saturday and Sunday 16GMT to check the game out, and give it a chance! If you have further questions or want to test Champion Mode, ask away here (http://forums.ageofempiresonline.com/forums/284684/ShowThread.aspx#284684), or ask questions in our Stream chat.OrkTastic0 Sep 14, 2012

Sep 10, 2012 Planetary Annihilation: A Next Generation RTS I know this seems a little blasphemous, posting about another RTS and all, but I'm trying to spread the word. I am in no way affiliated with Uber. I'm just a supporter of this project who is looking to inform people about it. A true spiritual successor to Total Annihilation (a ground-breaking RTS game from 1997), Planetary Annihilation seeks to bring the battles to a much larger scale. PA will allow players to battle in real-time across multiple worlds, even destroying them entirely. Where StarCraft 2 is more focused on micro and small-scale battles, PA will be focused on large-scale strategic management. It will be a different breed of RTS, but there is no reason you can't enjoy them both. PA is a project by Uber Entertainment. They are a small but seasoned team of developers who have worked on games such as Total Annihilation, Supreme Commander, C&C, and The Elder Scrolls. PA is currently being funded via Kickstarter. It has passed the funding goal and is now in early production while working towards stretch goals. The Kickstarter is at about $1,454,000 as I am writing this, with about 5 days until completion. The goals are as follows: (X) 900,000 - Base funding goal to make the game (X) 1,100,000 - Naval units and water planets (X) 1,300,000 - Orbital units and gas giants ( ) 1,500,000 - Lava and metal planets ( ) 1,800,000 - "Galactic War" skirmish campaign metagame ( ) Unknown goal As it stands, the fourth goal is all but guaranteed, but the last two goals will require plenty more pledges. If you love RTS games and would like to support this project, visit the Kickstarter link below. Don't forget to tell your friends and share this link with anyone you think may be interested. The Kickstarter ends in only 5 more days, so don't waste any time! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/659943965/planetary-annihilation-a-next-generation-rtsMediumsmall4 Sep 10, 2012

Sep 8, 2012 What makes WoW fun? This is not a rant thread about WoW, I legitimately want to understand why people say WoW is a fun game to play. Like the title says, I played WoW (vanilla) because one of my friends in high shcool started playing it and convinced us all to buy it. I made it to about level 47 on my paladin before quitting 2 months later, along with the majority of my friends. I saw WotL and decided to give WoW another chance because the trailer looked really cool and the videos for the death knight starting area made me think they had really changed the game. I quit playing before the first month of time expired. Maybe people have had other experiences but my experience with WoW has been: Click on guy with ! over head, Game throws a wall of text at you, You click accept, You go kill/collect 15 of whatever, go back to the guy now with a ? over his head, hand in the stuff and repeat over and over and over. I never found this to be fun to begin with and the game wants you to do it over and over and over. With nothing else to do but go play PvP vs other people, (not bad but not great) or go do "instances" were you basically do the same thing you do in quests but vs harder NPCs and without guys with !'s over there heads. I can honestly say WoW is the least fun game I have ever played and I cant for the life of me understand why so many people play it or think its so good. Could someone explain it to me?KingAzaz8 Sep 8, 2012
Sep 8, 2012 Problems my Computer Has Run Into So earlier today I had my computer just randomly shut off on me 3 times, and I haven't a clue why. I was really hoping it has nothing to do with my psu, it's a corsair and so it's not like some cheap psu but anything can go wrong, but I just don't think that's the case. Anyway, I got this urge that I should just check the case's and cpu's temperature (it's a i5 2500k). So when I pulled it up it said the system was running at 34, but my cpu at 87 Celsius! Now if that were the case I think my cpu would be about to catch fire or something. Needless to say I immediately shut off my computer and opened my case up. It was pretty cool inside, a few degrees below room temperature for sure, which makes since since I wasn't playing any games and just using my browser. I even touched the cpu with my knuckle and it was in no way even warm. I checked the cpu fan, and it's working fine as is all the case fans. So this leads me to believe my temperature monitor is broken. 1) Anyone have any idea why other than a psu problem the computer would just turn off randomly? (The it did it those three times within like 15 minutes) 2) And it would be very apparent if the cpu was actually that hot when I open the case right? 3) And assuming my temperature monitor is now broken for some reason, there's no way to fix this other than getting a new mobo? I guess my biggest concern is if the temperature check is broken (which like I said seems resonable to believe) that's certainly not good since I'd have no way of knowing if it was getting that hot.FishMonger14 Sep 8, 2012

Sep 7, 2012 Starcraft 1 CD Key Issue Hello, I recently purchased a retail copy of StarCraft 1 (one). It installed fine with the old 13-digit cd key which came with my copy of the game. However, this key only worked during installation. I was able to start up the game and play single player fine with no hassle. But multiplayer is where the problem started. I selected Battle.net as my connection method, being on broadband internet. It tried to connect me to the multiplayer server but hen gave me an error saying "The CD Key you provided was meant to be used for another product...please reinstall with the right CD Key." I'm stumped as this is the only CD key I have. The disk was a little old so I thought that it could be messing with some corrupted files, so I decided to use a digital download. However, when I entered my 13-digit key into the "Add Game" menu of Battle.net account management, it gave me the "Code cannot be claimed" error. I looked around the FAQ and the support database of this website. They said that legacy games such as Starcraft 1, Diablo II, etc. needed their CD-key converted from the old 13 digit to the new 26 digit alphanumeric format. They also said that I would be prompted to create a "Classic" Battle.net account when I started multiplayer in the legacy games. This did not happen in my case. The site didn't take my code and didn't convert it either. Still trying to figure out what must be wrong, I ran the program under compatibility mode and as administrator and patched it to the latest version. None of this helped with my issue. Please provide assistance on this, I would really appreciate it as I am an SC2 fan and wanted to try out its older sibling. I understand it is a really old game and I didn't expect it to run without hiccups. The store would not take it back unfortunately, even after explaining my issue. Any help would be appreciated! I also sent this as a ticket to Blizzard, but decided to put it on the forum as well to see if anyone else had the same issue. Any help would be great. Also, I tried posting this in the SC1 forums, but it required a CD key to login and it obviously didn't work. Thanks much! CarpetfizzCarpetfizz2 Sep 7, 2012

Sep 4, 2012 Differences in Hardware on Consoles vs PCs I was looking at the suspected specs for Sony's PS Orbit and I guess they're planning on plugging 4GB of DDR5 ram into it. I know the xbox360 has like .5GB of ram and I'm just curious if anyone can explain how my xbox can play fallout 3 when there's not chance in hell of being able to do that on my computer if I only had that much ram. I know graphically speaking and cpu wise it has something to do with them being in such close relation but what I don't understand at all is how it works with such little ram. I know it's not the same because it's so much slower loading on a console but still, how the hell does it fit on half a GB of ram and even be playable? And is the mobo inside a console any different than in a pc?FishMonger10 Sep 4, 2012

Sep 3, 2012 slc/mlc SSD - Laptop Choice So I'm looking to upgrade an older laptop I have to a sleek new ultrabook, and my dad's been looking at getting one as well, since he's not tech savvy at all he'll probably wait a month or two after I buy mine, see how I like it and unless I'm really disatisfied buy the same one. Anyway I've narrowed it down to 2 ultrabooks I like. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834131267 https://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666441755 Originally the Samsung was much more attractive as I saw it on Newegg about a 6 weeks ago for $850 and it seems like it's been going up nearly every two weeks 0_0. I also like how the Sony has more RAM, but honestly since I'll just be using it 90% of the time for Web use/Excel and Word end of the day I don't think that would factor in much. Any games I'd likely put on it would be on the easier side. But I've heard that an slc SSD is quite a bit better than and mlc which is what Sony's has but I've also heard that mlc tech has really improved as of lately and while still not as good the gap isn't quite as large. Can someone suggest to me wich haptop as a whole they woudl say is better and as well specifically address the performance/issues of a slc SSD vs a mlc? Also how much is 32GB as far as an SSD goes? I don't have one on my desktop yet but aside from the OS is there anything else that goes on it that where that might be cutting it short or is that wholly enough? ThanksFishMonger3 Sep 3, 2012
Sep 2, 2012 Guild Wars 2 as an esport? Hi guys. I been loving Guild Wars 2 and really hyped for release. I was wondering what you think of the prospect f the S.PvP as an esport? WoW's arena nearly made it, so maybe GW2 can pick up where wow left off? I think there is definantly room in the scene for such a esport and ony time will tell I guess. Balancing will be ridiculously hard though. Our guild will be assebling S.PvP teams if anyone's interested: www.armyofalbion.co.ukjestahr4 Sep 2, 2012

Sep 1, 2012 Need help upgrading new computer graphics I purchased this computer today. A Lenovo desktop. Unfortunately the graphics aren't all that great. I want to install a new graphics card, something that can play Starcraft 2 at Ultra steadily. My price range would be around $250-300. If you can give me any advice on good graphics cards or anything else I should adjust on this computer let me know. Thanks in advance. http://www.frys.com/product/7182362?site=sa:adpages%20page:P11_SAT%20date:090112 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883108960GlVlWarriorX2 Sep 1, 2012
Aug 31, 2012 Warcraft 2 - help with transfer to a new PC A general cry of help out to the community. My post to Blizzard technical support: "I own a copy of Warcraft 2 Battle.net Edition. I recently purchased a new upgraded computer. I like to have all of my old game files for playing. I installed Warcraft 2 Battle.net Edition on my new computer, and I want to transfer my saved games from my old computer. I have read the forums, and tried www.google.com, but I cannot seem to find the saved game files on my old computer. Please help! I had beaten Tides of Darkness, and was working on Beyond the Dark Portal, and I don't want to lose all of my progress (or have to hook my old computer back up just to play). I've looked the installed folder (C:\Program Files\Warcraft II BNE) and have even copied all of those files over to my new computer. The game launches and plays just fine, but it does not have any of the saved games. Any help would be much appreciated." Blizzard response (at least it came from a real person): "Alas, we no longer make or support Warcraft II :(" So. Same question, can anyone remember where the heck the save game files are located? I've checked in C:\Users\Me\AppData. C:Users\ProgramData Any old schoolers out there able to help out?Beekman5 Aug 31, 2012
Aug 31, 2012 In need of a mechanical keyboard? If so, newegg.com has RK9000 series keyboards on sale for 79.99! That is a good deal if you are in the market for a mechanical keyboard. I own one and they are pretty darn good albeit they have some problems; however, not nearly as many as the black widows.Hyeong5 Aug 31, 2012
