Upcoming Replay Changes

Patch 3.0 for Heart of the Swarm is just around the corner and we wanted to remind everyone that replays made before this patch will no longer be supported once it goes live. Replays that are newly created in Patch 3.0 and onwards will be supported in future versions of the game.

We’re bringing lots of exciting changes including a revamped user interface and chat system with this next patch and we’re looking forward to sharing more details very soon.
How long til we pass the corner?!
Soon TM
"Very soon" as opposed to "soon"? That must be a first. :-D

Crossing my fingers that there's some more goodies (skins, levels, portraits, etc.) in this patch!
Can we get this (http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/18300812220) updated, please?

Digging through pages of stuff to find the last couple for review has been frustrating.
So unlike when this has occurred in the past, you wont even be able to load up an old version of the game to watch old replays offline?

Probably, this is the change from *.mpq to the new packed-format for files. While it's certainly possible to support older formats, they had an old discussion on this about "why they wouldn't do that". Backwards compatibility will probably only be broken this once more for the rest of SC2's lifetime, however.

*shrug*
Thx for info Traysent.
Don't change the chat system!
Will you fix the Windows 10 issues with the patch or do we have to wait some more months until your fix those tiny bugs (the 100% CPU load for 30 minutes whenever you do something for the first time unless you disable some CPU cores for the game manuelly thing)?
Wow that's a HORRIBLE decision! Why would you want to very directly destroy such a large part of Starcraft 2 history???? That makes 0 sense at all. Would it really take that much to keep the older replays view able?

lol dead game
Lol...

Now you even want to destroy my replays of 1vs2 victories, AND my vs 2Masters victory.

This is ridiculous.

I bet this one is Dustin Browder's idea, or maybe it's the attorney's idea, since they stole MPQ format in the first place.
Gonna need the old-school modding community to invent a 3rd party replay viewer now. Maybe someone associated with the old Campaign Creations site, like the ones who made MPQDraft and SCMDraft for Broodwar.

Blizzard is really dropping the ball on this decision.
