Rock The Cabinet: The Final Five

Co-op Missions Discussion
Congratulations to the Top 5! Good luck going forward!

Immortal Siege didn't make the top five, but I'm surprised it made #6. For me, that one was bottom-tier material.

I'd probably agree with the top 5 selections, with Mercenary Business taking Death from Above's position. I'm rather surprised Armory Retaking took #1, given its anticlimactic pace.
I'm surprised Armory Retaking took first place as well. It was probably the dullest map in my opinion, but maybe it was due to some of the people playing the maps in listed order and it being the first one there.
There is a rumor going around that because Armory Retaking was top of the voting list (due to alphabetically sorting) it got more votes from people who just wanted to enter the prize giveaway to win a laptop for voting. I don't know if its true or not, just saying!

While my ordering would be a bit different, I think the top 5 is well deserved! Congrats to all.

I feel unbelievably lucky my mission has made it this far, but I fear this is where my ride ends. Even if it got 2nd most votes, I expect Blizzard to put it at 4th-5th place.

IN. TER. CEPT HIM!
Bring it. You won't have time to do so when Amon's relentless attacks keep coming at you and those Ultralisks keep spawning in droves when the temple is active.
Armory Retaking was among my least favorite. I respect the work put to it, of course, and I understand the concept is interesting enough to get it into the Top 10. But even having a place among the top 5, not to mention being number one by a good margin, is something that came off completely as a surprise to me.

I think Craddle of Death and Primal Ascension were undoubtely the best. The most original theme-wise, the ones with the more creative mechanics (even if they're more complex than what Blizzard maps use to have) and most polished from all points of view. If the creators think they have less chances than their opponents, I hope it's because these two maps are the ones which play most diferently than other maps. But if you think it's because they're not as good... come on, guys. A little less humbleness and a bit more objectivity ;)

The real bad news woul be if just one of the Top 5 maps are ever adapted as official maps. I really want to see Craddle of Death, Primal Ascension, Part and Parcel and Immortal Siege all in the map pool someday.

Yes, Immortal Siege. Because Immortal Siege was awesome. Much better than Scythe of Amon, if anything.
I'm rooting for you Skunk. The power of my belief shall drive you to total victory!
I agree with the oddity over Armory Retaking getting top spot. I didn't think it was top 5 material.

My prediction (and personal placings) for the top 5:

1 - Primal Ascension
2 - Cradle of Death
3 - Part and Parcel
4 - Death From Above
5 - Armory Retaking

I liked Armory Retaking but I didn't expect it to get the top spot, either. Congrats to Jacky! I believe he's the creator of some of the ladder maps, too.

Also, I was actually quite surprised at the #10 spot, I thought it was better than the number of votes it got. The 5-7 spots were so close! I know when I was deciding on my Top 5 picks I was having trouble.
Immortal Siege was 17 votes away from being in the Top 5! Very, very close.

On a side note, if you sum up all votes and divide by 5 you get around 3,500 votes. Which means aroun 73% of people vote for Armory Retaking, 63% for Cradle of Death and 60% for Primal Ascenscion. Immortal Siege had its genius acknowledged by only 50% of people. Scavenger Hunt, #10, got a vote of only 27%. Poor Christopher.

Thank you for this.

I played your mission. Your mission is great. The only problem I partially see is that its a bit too long and the map is relativly large compared to most coop maps. However if your map only had 3 hybrid birthing stations that would most likely be a great map. Also most of the time for the first defenses its much easier to just rush the payload through and not actually care about the enemies.
I am a bit disappointed.

I didn't expect to get to the top 10 at all, but since then the reviews of my map on the arcade were not that bad. Above Immortal Siege by some margin, and on par with Death from Above and Armory Retaking. I espected to fight with one of them for the 5th spot, not to be below Immortal Siege on the 7th, even by few votes.

Lol, I guess the arcade reviews really don't match the votes after all.

Congrats to the winners, btw :)
I dont understand why armory retaking had so much votes? Is it because it was first on the list? I applaud the maker(s?) for making this gorges visual map, very professional made and fun but... for me it had no creativity like the rest. Its the carbon copy from WoL without taking any liberties to add some new fresh element to it (like the special units in left2die co-op). Very well made map but i would feel kinda bored to know it will be made in a co-op map.

The other maps offer new/fresh take on the co-op maps. My top 3
Cradle of Death - First time you control the "escort" objective. You can decide to nuke the payload, kill the enemy's and risk losing.

Primal Ascension - Wasn't impressed with the boss fights. But great map. If blizzard makes it into a co-op map they would have to include their unique boss models, ability's.

Part Parcel - Nicely done. Cool mechanic of collecting parts and building something. If it wins i hope they remove the train part... as there is a mission already about it. Also hope they remove the shard since then it would be the 4th mission where we kill these boring shards again.

I switch 1st with 2nd. Otherwise i agree based on creativity and fun.
I personally believe armory retaken was only so high because it was the first map with the alphabet and people wanted to quickly enroll in the giveaway...

Next year people are going to name their maps starting with "Aa" ^^

@TheSkunk I can definitely see your map winning. Top 2 at least. Blizzard might then remove one main objective, tone down the humor a bit and maybe even remove the upgrade system for the payloads (just to make the map more accessible). i liked that the players bases were in the center, but would probably change the area around the minerals (just add more space instead of cliffs) and remove some invisible building blocking. Maybe make the map a bit smaller.
If the creators think they have less chances than their opponents, I hope it's because these two maps are the ones which play most diferently than other maps.

Yes, although instead of "play differently" I would have said "less accessible to casuals" and I wouldn't have put Primal Ascension in the same category, I do think Primal Ascension is going to be the winner. I think some people underestimate how many players just straight up don't understand how to move payloads in Cradle of Death, or find it to taxing to do so while everything else is going on. And while technically they could just strip out all of the elements that made it unique as they adapt it into an official mission, it would be a lot easier for them to just choose a different mission as a winner, like Primal Ascension.
