Co-Op Mutation #119: Bannable Offense

Co-op Missions Discussion
Bannable Offense has you fighting on Malwarfare, an ancient Purifier facility where preserved Protoss personalities come to life. However, the personality of a Tal’Darim warrior has awakened, and this time, he’ll assault you with the unholy power of cheating. This Tal’Darim will attempt to glitch out his units using Evasive Maneuvers and enter the infamous “Power Overwhelming” cheat code from StarCraft I. Fortunately for you, Power Overwhelming doesn’t have the same potency it did in the original StarCraft, but you’ll still have to deal with evasive enemies that can cast random abiities.

Of course, cheating is a bannable offense.

Map: Malwarfare
Power Overwhelming - All enemy units have energy and use random abilities.
Evasive Maneuvers - Enemy units teleport a short distance away upon taking damage.

Other Notes
  • This is the last mutation with a text description (being taken from monk's post about it)
  • This replaces Wheel of Misfortune, which ended with the patch (https://us.battle.net/forums/en/sc2/topic/20767587337)
  • Sometimes the enemy blinks into your forces, which makes it a bit trickier to keep some units alive
  • Evasive maneuvers will be most annoying when using melee units against enemy ranged units.
  • Abilities used by the enemy include Abduct, Black Hole, Defensive Matrix, Disabling Cloud, Disruption Web, Force Field, Fungal Growth, Guardian Shield, Graviton Beam, [Hybrid Structure Disable Thing], Irradiate, Parasitic Bomb, Point Defense Drone, Psionic Orb, Psionic Storm, Seeker Missile, Snipe, Time Warp.
  • There is no means to determine what spells each enemy unit has until they actually use it.
  • Although the enemy does not target-fire Artosis Pylons, they will sometimes cast disabling spells on them.

Commander of the Week winner of yesterday: Karax
Very surprising. I booted up to play normal brutal since I had no love for chaos studios, only to find that it changed.

What's up?

Anyway cleared it first try. Nova ally did most of the lifting. I did H/H strike fighters because I love H/H.
Do EMP and Feedback work against Power Overwhelming?
I'm curious, did you rush to post this just to be the person to do a mutation post?
I'm asking because this looks very dis-organised.

Why will you never post a reddit link?
Why would you not wait until there's some replays to throw up?

"I'll get CtG to make the surveys at some point" with blank polls ontop of it.
Why can't you make surveys yourself and why even put the titles there if there's nothing to post

I want my CtG/Hunter post

Mostly because CtG's asleep right now. Contrary to popular belief, even the most popular coop persons need to sleep
Beat this brutation at first try as Mech Stukov, full inf diamondbacks + Dehaka ally with mutalisks. Also full bonus. Not very hard actually but lost many mech units.

Did again as Dehaka + Artanis:

That doesn't mean you should quickly slap something down just to have it there, at least make a quality post first.
Wait what? Its out already?
My personal thoughts on my single mutation run (take with grain of salt).

Carrier karax.

No seriously, carrier karax. It's the ultimate late game carry. they're pretty immune to abilities, lotta waves for spear.

Downsides:
  • early game is pretty bad, you're going to need serious help on the first 2 checkpoints. (though you can, if your macro is good enough, put some cannons on 2nd point)
  • Spear isn't that great for softening defenses/picking off units because of teleport

Pair up with a commander that can survive (and hopefully thrive in) the early game and you'll do very well

I'll be sure to update the original post when CtG gets on. CtG is the main source of replays and can make the surveys faster than I can.

Also, this isn't the first time i've had to sub in for CtG :P
Would have been better if you wrote like a sentence to explain that Wheel of Misfortune was replaced.

Thanks for the suggestion. Added, along with the bluepost in general forums that stated it would be ending.

There, done in literally 5 minutes or less. Pfiu, that was really some hard work, no way anyone else besides CtG can do these...

https://www.strawpoll.me/16270931 - Difficulty
https://www.strawpoll.me/16270940 - Liking/ness

Could've prolly made them in sequential-link order, but didn't think about it.
Abathur with mass vipers for the win. Can't use abilities that way and drag will stop them from blinking out.
Seems pretty strange that they posted about the change in the General Discussion instead of in the Co-Op section of the forums.

Finally a new mutation.

I did it with Kerrigan, Dehaka, Abathur and Fenix. You definitely want units that can take hits and survive all those spells that enemy will throw at you.
You'll have an easier time with commanders that can mostly one hit KO units. So Kerrigan, Nova, or Dehaka (less so). (Add in - There are limited number of abilities used towards less or single units, so keep that in mind.)

As some mentioned above, it works just fine with any commander (but that is as always provided you have decent skills or at least paired with a good partner).

Surprise mutation but fairly easy as far as all mutations presented so far goes.
