Starting a new game on Oblivion...

Off Topic Dicussion
And I'm feeling indecisive. Someone pick my race/gender/class/birth sign, go!
Drow / Male / Mage / The Mistress
There is no birth sign called the mistress, do you mean the lady or the lover?
Oh, I have this custom race / birthsigns / etc pack and Drow / The Mistress happened to be one of them. I forgot that it was custom, though.

Uhm, be a high elf mage with The Apprentice.
Altmer/Male/Barbarian/Lord
I dare you.
Dunmer / Male / Battlemage / Either the Mage or the Lady
Altmer/Male/Barbarian/Lord
I dare you.
That seems randomish. And I might as well be a vampire too, since fire is already going to practically 1 shot me.
Breton / Female / Some kind of caster / Mage (I think that's what it's called, its the less over the top version of the Atronach)

Or, for Aelyad stone addiction (butchered spelling, didn't play too much oblivion)

Pretty classic, I think I've played that one before.

I don't think I've ever played a breton, I always preferred high elves for my casters. I also don't think I've ever had the balls to play an atronach, seems like it would alter the game quite a bit to lose magicka regeneration. Might give that one a try. And yeah, I think it's Ayleid.
I play bretons almost exclusively. It's so stupid in Oblivion cuz if you're a breton under the mage (I believe that's the sign) and you raise your....I want to say wisdom? high enough then you regenerate magicka at such a ridiculous rate that you might has well have infinite magicka.

High Elves under the Atronach are much better for casting the crazy OP spells since they have a stupid amount of Magicka. I had a friend that actually used up every Ayleid stone in the game since they don't respawn, at least not on the console version lmao
This thread inspired me to start a new game. I'm a female wood elf archer born under the sign of the thief :P
I've actually decided to mod the hell out of the game before starting my new character. First time I've done this, starting with OOO. Any other compatible recommendations?
All I remember is that there's like a stupid amount of porn mods for Oblivion >_< I bought the game for PC right before SC2 came out to kill some time, and I spent all my time trying to get the mods to work. I was looking through the site for mods and it was like easily over half the mods had something to do with nudity lmfao.

OOO was a good one though, I just had issues getting it to work...then I bought SC2...aaaaannnnnd, haven't opened oblivion since
I remember doing that with Ghosts in Morrowind, I'm fairly sure their melee attack counted as magick and as such restored your magicka >_< I haven't played enough of oblivion to know how it works in that game though lol

Well the second method in Morrowind works because of spell absorption, I forgot if the Oblivion version has spell absorption for Atronach.
It does.

I didn't know that, I don't think that works in oblivion.

And I ended up going with my classic high elf mage, though I made him a little more thiefy than usual.
Here's the most powerful class possible:

High Elf
Sign: Atronach
Skills: Any

The premade classes suck for the most part, as they have either redundant or useless skills. In the long run, regardless of your "class", an Altmer with Atronach will be the strongest of any other race/birthsign, as any spec can be bolstered by spellcasting, and having the highest base magicka will allow you to make custom spells that are more powerful than any other.

With Alchemy the mana regen issue is little more than a minor inconvenience. The inherent Spell Absorption can be boosted to 100% quite easily with a few high level sigil stones, thereby negating your racial weakness to magic, and you still have more unenchanted armor slots free for whatever you want.

I hear all that, and I still think that sneaking around as a Kajhit stabbing people with daggers is more fun. Purrrr.
