Hardware wishlist + system compatability scan

Off Topic Dicussion
I'm guessing this doesn't exist as it would be too advanced, but is there a site by chance that you can surf and pick out new computer hardware upgrades and then get a system scan to see if you can handle that hardware, or maybe a scan first so that it stops you from getting things you can't handle or offers suggested upgrades to get the wanted part.

I mean if a site like this could exist, the creators would have to be geniuses to know how to create such a system. I was looking at this new video card (I don't need the best - just something much nicer for SC2). And I found a nicer power supply that could handle it by a long shot, then I realized things like my motherboard, CPU and RAM probably would choke the video card to death with it's oldness.

No. I didn't pick out the best stuff. I picked out the lowest NVIDIA card of their third tier video card groupings. I don't suppose I'll need the best stuff as I'm not one to buy a lot of computer games.

I'm not a computer dunce by any means as I've been at it for well around 13ish years, but understanding hardware coordination is like me throwing 20 ballerinas out an airplane (with parashoots) and wondering how well they'll do.

What I have:

  • Monitor: Acer LCD Monitor V223W (1280x1050)

  • Motherboard: Asus M3N78-VM

  • CPU: AMD Phenom X3 64-bit 8450

  • RAM: 4 GB DDR2 (1x 2GB, 2x 1GB)
(I can't even tell you the frequency on these but
    2GB says PC2 6400 CL6 240 Pin DIMM
    1GB PC2 5300 CL5 240 Pin DIMM

  • Video Card: NVIDIA e-Geforce 8600 GTS 512 MB

  • Harddrive: Meh not something I'll replace any time soon.
