Graphics settings always reset + beta bug

Technical Support
Greetings,

I played the Beta and decided to get the collector's edition of SC2, but have found a problem that remains, as well as a new issue.

Relevant info:
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 4400+
RAM: 4 GB DDR 400
GPU: two XFX GeForce 7950 GT in SLI mode, current drivers
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, fully patched
Audio: SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro

It happened much more frequently in beta, but in the 1.0.2, the screen will still occasionally go black for a few seconds along with the Windows 7 noise for a device being connected/disconnected. I have no webcam nor software installed for one, and I am neither removing or adding a device. Odd and annoying.

The BIG issue (that's new) is that EVERY TIME I start SC2, it resets my graphics settings to a crap-tastic 1200x768 or something similar. I run SC2 campaign at 1920x1200 with high texture settings, but it will never save those settings. I tried editing the variables text file (located in "..\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II\StarCraft II\Variables.txt") and saved it, but when I launch SC2, the settings still reverted to the 1200 x Whatever... the variables file also showed that my settings had been erased upon starting SC2 and set back to the "default" values. If I open the variables file after I've saved my settings in game (and with the game still running), it will show the changes as well.

On game re-launch, the changes are scrubbed and default settings are restored.

So, how the heck DO I save my graphics settings for SC2? It's really annoying having to change them EVERY time I run the program.

Other stuff I've tried:

reinstalling latest NVIDIA driver

un-setting read-only on the SC2 program folder (doesn't seem to actually do it in Win7... had similar issues with programs in WinXP auto-magically being set to read-only and not allowing de-selection of this).

tried running SC2 "as administrator."

tried creating a variables.txt file in "..\My Documents\StarCraft II" since the game never made such a folder of file on installation to the default file path, but that didn't seem to fix it either.
Can you post your dxdiag?
seems a little overkill to post the whole dxdiag without giving a reason / your guess as to what it will indicated, but I'll put the first part of it up. I doubt the uncertified sound driver is causing my problems with the graphics settings being saved.

If you think other parts of it would be useful and/or applicable, please let me know what your theory on the issue would be and/or what section is relevant.

It's been awhile since I've done anything serious with a dxdiag, so it did surprise me a little that my DX Setup Parameters were listed as "not found"... figured that would have some set value.
