Greetings Executors, Cerebrates, and Commanders,

Thanks to everyone playing the new matchmaker; there are definite problems, but we have priority fixes incoming. Thank you also for the input to help source the bugs and your patience while we get things sorted.

We want to shed some light on the situation and talk about next steps:

Known Issues
  • The system designed to verify game results is disposing of matches it should not
  • Leaderboards do not match Season stats (caused by above)
  • Navigating away from the Chat Channel disconnects queued players from matchmaking
  • Matches are sometimes made against ghost players (because they navigated away from Chat)
  • Sometimes Leaderboards slightly exaggerate a player's points (who isn't happy about having their rating pumped up by order of magnitude of a thousand?)


Things In Motion
  • We're honing in on the cause of match results not being applied - this will be a server fix that we will announce, but won't require a client update
  • A server deploy will also fix the exaggerated score issue
  • We have a client fix in test for disconnects from matchmaking
  • We will be resetting the Season when these issues are resolved


Hot Topics
Will there be 2v2 or larger matchmaking?
  • Yes. Timeline is dependent on getting current implementation of 1s stable and confidence in the rating system


Turn rate?
  • We are evaluating changing the turn rate, but do not have an official stance yet. Long term we would like to create a system that can adjust turn rate based on latency between players. Emphasis on long term.

I'm taking this chance to thank you guys for your amazing work. There's a lot of wrinkles, but SCR is already beautiful, just imagine when they get solved!

On release day I spent 15 min stupified pressing F5 over and over again in main menu.

Are you going to lock interface while match making to prevent ghosting or are you going to let us freely open other sections without canceling the search?

Guys, I think the root of most of the above issues is that there may be Zerglings loose in the factory. You might want to look into that.

How will match making support the different paradigms of maps such as fastest, hunters/BGH, and low money?
Most of these players probably don't want to vs each other on the unfamiliar map type but still want to be ranked amongst themselves. This raises the question if either certain maps won't be ranked or there will be different rankings on a map type basis.

Automatically adjusting turn rate sounds cool, but I would really love turn rate 12 for now. Even if the match needs to be played on high latency, it feels better than turn rate 8.

in 1.16 time..
player used different turn rate in same game
even if they made the room at #L2, zerg player used LOW LAUNCHER to reduce there latency.
so, in the same game, there latency was different. That was magical !!!

can you do the same??
