UI and Macro

Jan 20 Welcome! Please read! Welcome to the UI and Macro forum! This forum is here to provide you with a friendly environment where you can discuss user interface customizations for World of Warcraft with your fellow players. Community forums work best when participants treat their fellow posters with respect and courtesy, so we ask that you take the time to read through the forum Code of Conduct (http://us.battle.net/en/community/conduct) and guidelines (https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20752671773) before posting. Important Reminders: Search The search function at the top of the World of Warcraft community site is extremely effective and robust. Before you create a new forum topic, please be use it to search for similar topics, blog posts, or web pages that may contain the answer for which you are looking. Making a new thread on an existing subject can result in your thread being deleted or, if you continue to re-post the same content, the loss of your forum privileges for spamming. Rating The forum rating system can be used to promote positive discussion, demote unhelpful comments, and even report posts that violate the forum Code of Conduct. By hovering over a post you'll be presented with several options, including a "thumbs up" (Like) and a "thumbs down" (Dislike) icon. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon will rate the post up. If enough people like a post, it will gain a Highly Rated status and appear at the top of related search results. Highly Rated posts will also have a highlighted background. Clicking the "thumbs down" icon will expand a drop-down menu which will include "Dislike," "Trolling, "Spam" and "Report" options. "Dislike" will rate the post down. If enough people dislike a post, it will be darkened, and with a lot of dislikes it will be hidden completely. You can also quickly report a post as trolling or spam, or use the report function to fill out a more comprehensive description of a violation. Please note that you can only rate each post once. Use your power wisely to help foster a positive and helpful forum community. Have fun posting on these forums, and good luck with your adventures in Azeroth! Guidelines In addition to the forum Code of Conduct (http://us.battle.net/en-us/community/conduct), here are some common courtesy guidelines to follow. While these do technically fall within the bounds of the Code of Conduct, these cover more specific examples of common errors that will lead to thread deletions or posting privileges being revoked. The World of Warcraft forums are for discussion of topics directly related to World of Warcraft. The forums here are specifically to discuss the game and related topics. Any topics not related to World of Warcraft, Battle.net, or Blizzard Entertainment are subject to deletion. Don't post in all capital letters, use a misleading title, excessive punctuation, and/or non-standard symbols, etc. While everyone wants their posts read, we ask you to refrain from using these types of tactics in order to bring more people to your thread. Let your post stand on its own merit. Threads violating this guideline are subject to deletion. Using the words "Blizzard," "Blue," or any community team members' names in a thread topic is frowned upon. Everyone would like Blizzard to read and acknowledge his or her post, and we understand that; however, use of such words in the subject line does not help that come to pass. Please make your thread title relevant to the post subject. Threads violating this guideline are subject to deletion. Posting "First" or IBTL ("in before lock") constitutes as spamming. You will be suspended if you create a post that is intended to call out that you achieved a specific reply number in a thread. This is considered spamming. Posting IBTL ("in before the lock") is not helpful, and if you feel a thread should be moderated please use the rating button to do so. Do not "bump" posts. The act of posting simply to bump a thread is considered spamming. This also includes bumping very old threads for no reason (called "necro bumping" or "necroing"). Petition posts are frowned upon. These are discussion forums and, as such, we ask that you hold discussions. Creating a thread to ask for replies as votes is not a discussion. Threads violating this guideline are subject to deletion. Do not post about locked or deleted threads. Posts that are moderated have a reason behind the moderation. It's up to you to read the forum Code of Conduct and these guidelines to determine what you did wrong, learn from your mistake, and attempt to post again without breaking any rules. There is also cool down period we institute during times of high forum traffic. If you are violating policy during one of these times due to frustration, you will be given a three-hour cool down suspension. This does not get logged on your record and is simply in place to keep the forums readable and civil. Serious violations will still have the appropriate action taken against them as documented in the Code of Conduct, and we do keep track of these cool down periods separately—if one is found to be repeatedly violating policy, appropriate action will be taken.Kaivax0 Jan 20
Jul 12 FAQ: Installing & Troubleshooting AddOns How to Install AddOns for World of Warcraft - By Unkle of Grounding Totem, US Kirin Tor - With a tip of the hat to Lopeppeppy for her original guide. When AddOns are properly installed, a new button appears in the lower left corner of the character selection screen of World of Warcaft, labeled AddOns. If you do not see this button, your AddOn is not properly installed or no AddOns are installed at all. - Where to Get AddOns Always download your AddOns from a reputable source. The author of this guide recommends you use the following sites for most of your AddOn needs. ● WoWInterface.com - http://wowinterface.com/ ● Curse.com - http://curse.com/ - Extracting your AddOns AddOns are delivered in compressed files to save space on hosting sites servers and to reduce the amount of time it takes you to download them. They are commonly in .zip format with some .rar format files. Windows and Macintosh computers have native support for .zip files. If your AddOn is compressed in .rar format, you will need another program to open them. Your web browser may also be able to open compressed files for you automatically after they are downloaded. For Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 users I suggest 7-Zip. ● http://www.7-zip.org/ For Mac OSX users I suggest The Unarchiver. ● http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/apps/unarchiver.html When the AddOn is extracted, you should have a folder that is named the AddOn’s name. ... Some AddOns have sub-folders inside their main folder. This is fine, and you should leave them there. Some AddOns are called one name, but are really multiple AddOns delivered together. When this happens, you download a compressed file that has several folders in it. ... - Where to Put AddOns Once You’ve Extracted Them AddOns belong in the following folder: World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns ... Put the folder you extracted into the correct folder for your operating system. Correctly installed, my example AddOn, Fane, looks like this: ● Windows XP C: \Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\Fane [C:] (or which ever drive you have the game installed on) |----World of Warcraft |----Interface |----AddOns |----Fane ● Windows Vista or Windows 7 C:\Users\Public\Games\ World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\Fane Windows Vista or Windows 7 [C:] |----Users |----Public |----Games |----World of Warcraft |----Interface |----AddOns |----Fane ● Mac OSX [Macintosh Hard Drive]../World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns/Fane [Macintosh Hard Drive] |----World of Warcraft |----Interface |----AddOns |----Fane The most common issue with why your AddOn won't load. If you have an extra folder layer in the mix, your AddOn won't load. [C:] |----World of Warcraft |----Interface |----AddOns |----Fane1234567 <-- Extra Folder. Bad folder. No biscuit. |----Fane More Installing Resources: ● WoWInteface.com’s Instatll FAQ: http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/faq.php?faq=install#faq_howto_install ● WoWInteface.com’s Image of Correctly installed AddOns: http://www.wowinterface.com/storage/faq/correct.gif ● Seerah’s excellent YouTube video for installing AddOns (using WinZip on Windows XP). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dylXGXET8OA - What to Do When Something Goes Wrong ● Make sure AddOns are in the correct directory. - Do you have more than one copy of WoW installed? If so, did you put the AddOns in the right copy’s folder? This is especially important if you install multiple copies of the game, or you’re installing the game from DVD after a major expansion such as Wrath of the Lich King or Cataclysm. You can right-click on the icon you use to launch WoW (Windows) or use "CMD+I" (Mac OSX) to get the properties for the short cut. The properties will tell you the "Target" of the shortcut (or alias) which is where your copy of WoW is installed. - Did you extract the AddOn correctly? Make sure you are unzipping/uncompressing your addons. WinZip, WinRar, 7zip, The Unarchiver and StuffIt (for Mac) are common unzipping programs. See the section above on Extracting Your AddOns. WinZIP users: You must make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is checked or WinZIP will just extract the files and not make the proper sub-folders. - Did you accidentally get an extra folder layer? If you have a folder called something like AddOnName6.01.01 with folders under that named like the examples above, you’ve copied the wrong things to your AddOns folder. See the section above on Extracting Your AddOns. ● I used the Repair Tool and now my AddOns are gone! When the repair tool is run the Interface and WTF folders get renamed with the date added to the file name. This means those AddOns won't get loaded. You can simply rename the folders without the date. If the problem that caused you to run the Repair Tool was being caused by a rogue AddOn you’ll have the problem again if you do this. ● Don’t install AddOns while WoW is running. WoW doesn't register addon changes until you exit the game and restart it. Save yourself some frustration and install only when you’ve completely exited the game. Log in to check them, log back out as necessary to fix things. ● My AddOns didn’t load after a patch! From the character select screen, click the AddOns button. In the upper right corner of the AddOns screen, check the "Load Out of Date Addons" box.Unkle346 Jul 12
Jul 12 AddOn Development Reference (PLEASE DO NOT POST QUESTIONS IN THIS THREAD, USE THE FORUM FOR QUESTIONS) While there are numerous sites available with WoW UI API Documentation, there are a number of useful features that aren't exactly API calls, but are really useful to AddOn developers. Extracting UI Files (coming shortly given cataclysm changes) Lua File Arguments Whenever WoW loads and runs an AddOn's .lua file (not including saved variables), it passes in two parameters which can be accessed via the ... token: local addonName, addonTable = ...; The addonName is the name by which WoW is referring to the AddOn, based on the capitalization of the AddOn's .toc file. The addonTable is a private table which is sent to every file in a particular AddOn (but is distinct from the table sent to other AddOns). The game maintains no global registry of these tables, so it's garbage collected if not used, and an AddOn must grab its own reference to use it later. Iriel15 Jul 12
Nov 16, 2010 UI Add-On Development Policy 7/15/2009 Music Distribution through UI Add-Ons We have recently seen a number of User Interface Add-Ons that are making modifications to the World of Warcraft in-game music files and wanted to take a moment to go over some important points with the community in connection with this. While we are currently allowing Add-Ons that remove or replace existing sound files, keep in mind that it is illegal to distribute copyrighted materials, in this case in-game music and audio files, without authorization. One of the primary goals of the user interface is to allow players to customize their game experience and we hope to avoid making any modifications in the future that will prevent this. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4/13/2009 UI Add-On Development Policy Update On March 20, we released the new add-on development policy to the public as an ongoing effort to help ensure add-on integrity, safety, and quality for the community. Since that time we have been in touch with many UI development communities on what the policy means to them and the continuing development of these add-ons. We would like to announce further that we are providing a sixty-day grace period beginning at the time of the initial release of the policy for UI developers to comply with the new policy. After May 19th, Blizzard Entertainment will begin to enforce the Add-on Development policy, and developers found to be in violation of this policy will be contacted directly. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- World of Warcraft User Interface Add-On Development Policy With the continuing popularity of World of Warcraft user interface add-ons (referred to hereafter as "add-ons") created by the community of players, Blizzard Entertainment has formalized design and distribution guidelines for add-ons. These guidelines have been put in place to ensure the integrity of World of Warcraft and to help promote an enjoyable gaming environment for all of our players - failure to abide by them may result in measures up to and including taking formal legal action. 1) Add-ons must be free of charge. All add-ons must be distributed free of charge. Developers may not create "premium" versions of add-ons with additional for-pay features, charge money to download an add-on, charge for services related to the add-on, or otherwise require some form of monetary compensation to download or access an add-on. 2) Add-on code must be completely visible. The programming code of an add-on must in no way be hidden or obfuscated, and must be freely accessible to and viewable by the general public. 3) Add-ons must not negatively impact World of Warcraft realms or other players. Add-ons will perform no function which, in Blizzard Entertainment's sole discretion, negatively impacts the performance of the World of Warcraft realms or otherwise negatively affects the game for other players. For example, this includes but is not limited to excessive use of the chat system, unnecessary loading from the hard disk, and slow frame rates. 4) Add-ons may not include advertisements. Add-ons may not be used to advertise any goods or services. 5) Add-ons may not solicit donations. Add-ons may not include requests for donations. We recognize the immense amount of effort and resources that go into developing an add-on; however, such requests should be limited to the add-on website or distribution site and should not appear in the game. 6) Add-ons must not contain offensive or objectionable material. World of Warcraft has been given a "T" by the ESRB, and similar ratings from other ratings boards around the world. Blizzard Entertainment requires that add-ons not include any material that would not be allowed under these ratings. 7) Add-ons must abide by World of Warcraft ToU and EULA. All add-ons must follow the World of Warcraft Terms of Use and the World of Warcraft End User License Agreement. 8) Blizzard Entertainment has the right to disable add-on functionality as it sees fit. To maintain the integrity World of Warcraft and ensure the best possible gaming experience for our players, Blizzard Entertainment reserves the right to disable any add-on functionality within World of Warcraft at its sole discretion. For more information... If you are an add-on developer and have any questions about and this User Interface Add-On Development Policy and how it pertains to the add-on that you've developed, please don't hesitate to email us at WoWUI@blizzard.com. Intro - Macro Basics Macros are a very useful tool within the World of Warcraft client. They allow you to combine multiple actions onto a single button. While the entire macro will run every time, actions which trigger the Global Cooldown will stop later GCD actions from functioning. You can make a macro to take almost any action you can click or keybind, with certain restrictions. Macro commands can be made more useful with [conditionals], snippets that check on various things to allow a small degree of decision making. While macros stop at the first valid item from the top down, individual commands stop at the first valid conditional, from left to right. Macros can be used to execute scripts, small snippets of Lua code, from within WoW without the use of an external addon. This is done by using the /run command. Scripting is an advanced feature and is explained more in detail in post 5. There are a number of tips, tricks, and shortcuts to help you get the most out of your macros. Most of the ones listed have come from this very forum, and I have consolidated them here to make it easier. My intention is to continue to expand this post with more useful information over time, so feel free to add a post with any questions or useful information you think I should add.Adreaver261 Jul 5

1h Corsair Keyboard k55 keybinding help I just got a new keyboard, and it has g buttons on the side. I want to set it up so I can keybind them in WoW (it's basically why I even got this new keyboard, besides it being rainbow lol). I downloaded the Corsair Utility Engine for this specific one...but I have no idea how to even set it up. Right now, if I press G1/G2/G3/etc, it thinks I'm pressing 1/2/3, etc. I tried to set it up so they target the party members, but it just tries to make me use my abilities, on my first action bar. I've tried googling it, but I've only found reviews, and guides that don't include whatever program they use to set them up. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!Raenii4 1h
1h Dismiss minions/totems macro Hi there, I haven't had any luck on the shaman forums, so asking here- I want to make a macro to dismiss any active totems and/or minions such as Fire Elemental. You can dismiss them by right-clicking their icons that appear underneath your character's portrait, but this is quite slow. ... Thanks in advance.Creeks0 1h

3h Swap Specs Macro? Hi all, I've been doing a bit of Googling today to try and find a macro that would suit what I'm after, but I've been unable to find exactly what I'm looking for, and furthermore I'm terrible at trying to figure them out. Anyhoo, I play as a monk and would love a macro that lets me use CTRL, ALT and Shift as modifiers to decide which spec I want to change to. Does anyone have a macro like this? Can it even be done? Thanks in advance!Naiori11 3h

6h Multi Pet Abilities Macro w/mouseover I've been trying to get a macro that changes ability based on currently summoned pet that also can accept the modifiers [harm][@mouseover,harm]. I can get "/cast [pet:n] x; [pet:m] y" but putting the targeting modifiers seems impossible. when I try "/cast [pet:n][harm][@mouseover,harm] x; [pet:m][harm][@mouseover,harm] y" it seems to be identical to the macro without the harm or mouseover modifiers. I was trying to get PetActionButton# to do it, but I don't think you can put anything between "/click" and "PetActionButton#" Anyone have any ideas on how to make a macro like this work?Shiawasse7 6h
6h mod shift macros stopped working Ever since I exfered servers these two mod shift macros stopped working. #showtooltip /cast [mod:shift] Summon Imp /cast [mod:alt] Summon Voidwalker /cast Summon Felhunter In the above macro the only part that isn't working is the summon Imp part. #showtooltip Demonic Circle /cancelaura [mod:shift] Demonic Circle /cast Demonic Circle In the above macro only the cancelaura portion isn't working. I have since tried deleting the cache folder and the macro cache files and recreated the two macros from scratch multiple times and they still don't work. however all of my other shift mod macros such as this one still work... #showtooltip Corruption /cast [mod:shift,@focus,exists] [nomod] Corruption I use that macro for all of my dots for pve and pvp and they work just fine only the first two stopped working after I exfered. Can anyone shed some light on what might be going on and know of a fix? Thank you in advance.Claymore8 6h

17h How are Battleground Units Labeled? IE Arena units are Arena1-5, party members party1-4. What are battleground players? Arena1-40? They can be freely generated by addons like XentiTargets, so there has to be some kind of unit designation for them.Jalopy7 17h
17h Tukui website down? Is there anyone here who uses Tukui by any chance? If so, have you been able to access their website today at all? I am using this addon setup and normally have no problems updating from my client, but I can't even access their webpages going through the direct url. 1d Changing the "level" of a UI element? Sorry, but I can't remember if level is the proper word. Basically, say you have a number of objects slightly stacked on one another for whatever reason. Is it possible to change the level of each element? specifically, for interactive elements. like if I had a red and green box stacked on one another, but I wanted to interact with the red box instead of green, even though the red box is visible, i'm still interacting with the green box no matter what. how to change it to red? I had an addon a long time ago that had let you change this specific function, but i cant remember what it was.Js2 1d

1d Yet Another API Issue [SOLVED] GetSpellCooldown() http://wow.gamepedia.com/API_GetSpellCooldown This is supposed to return the cooldown start, duration, enabledIndicator, and modRate for a given ability. I'm finding that it does not, precisely. Through experimentation, I'm finding that the GCD cooldown is returned first (not as separate fields, it is returned until GCD is no longer relevant for this ability - THEN you get the cooldown data for your specific ability, even when the ability is NOT ON GCD). For Berserker Rage (18499), I get one return of 0.00, 0.00, 1, 1, then I get the correct data after (<start time>, 60.00, 1, 1). It's not on GCD, so I am assuming that 0.00, 0.00, 1, 1 is the relevant GCD information for this ability. For Thunder Clap (6343), I get <start time>, <remaining GCD time>, 1, 1 until GCD is complete, then I get <same start time>, <remaining ability-specific cooldown time>, 1, 1 until that is complete. How the <insert profane word referring to intercourse> do I get the ACTUAL <insert same word in gerund form> cooldown data without the GCD <insert profane word referring to excrement>? I'm thinking I may have to pull the GCD cooldown separately and add it to my cooldown remaining on the target ability, but <insert profane reference to deity> that's an awful way to have to do this. Am I missing something?Istrebiteli14 1d
1d Can a WeakAuras track "item slot 14" CD etc? Basically, I'm trying to make a couple WeakAuras to track my trinket CD's, but I don't want to have to make new ones every time I get a new trinket, or equip something else different. It would be great if I could just target an equipment slot (similar to how you can target them with /use 13, /use 14, etc) and track the cooldown on whatever is in those slots, and it sounds like something that might be possible, I just don't know how to do it... So does anyone have any idea how to make this Aura? Would be very greatful for any replies here XDZevy10 1d
1d Good addons for mob names? The new default text for mobs without nameplates on for my system is hard to read. Is their a setting or addon to help with mob name fonts. Or possibly a name plate addon that helps make names a little bigger without turning on nameplates. Simply because that gets a bit much with all the large packs of mobs now. Tried out Kui and Tidy Plates.Cedartusk3 1d
1d TSM I hate posting this in the wrong place, but I never seem to get any answers when I do post them in the proper place. I need serious help with TSM, and setting it up properly. I watched a bunch of videos, and I always get lost. I mean, the most complicated addon I have is Healbot. And thats not really complicated at all. I am asking for help, Via Discord or some such. If you have the time, please help. If you use TSM often, and know most of the workings of it, please hit me up. TracersBum#1931Denestra15 1d

2d Nemesis and Metamorphosis Macro Won't Work For reference, I am a Havoc Demon Hunter. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with this Macro? /cast Nemesis /cast [@player] Metamorphosis I don't know why, but I just can't get the whole thing to run. Written as it is, Meta won't cast, but if I add Felblade to it, Meta will cast but Felblade won't. This is driving me nuts, and I just don't know what else needs to be done to it. It seems like anything after Nemesis just does not work.Felsriith9 2d
2d Targeting: Mouseover vs. Selecting I'm working on maintaining my DoTs on adds during raids. Since Tab-targetting doesn't seem to be the most effective for me, I'm looking into alternatives. Two that I got from my class discord was using mouseover macros and selecting via customized nameplates. Are there add-ons for mouseover targeting? Or do people just write macros? What is the advantage of mouseover targeting versus just selecting the mob? You get to maintain a targeting lock on your main target while keeping dots up on the adds? With regards to customizing name plates, what should I be looking to do? There are a lot of variables I can adjust but having no experience on what I can do with them, it will be trial and error at first. And while I may find something that I like, there's no way to know if that is in fact the optimal set-up. Is it worth asking other Shadow Priests for their name plate profiles? Thank you in advance.Igniferroque5 2d
2d Looking for an add on i saw In a heroic ToS i saw a guy hitting a button to explain every boss fight in raid chat before we pulled, i saw a few add-ons that worked similar, just cant find the one for 7.2.5! Please help!Thinkfaster0 2d
2d WA vs TMW Hello all, I currently use Weakaura's and I love it for its customization, but I was wondering what the benefit of using WA AND Tell Me When is? I never used TMW so I'm not sure of its benefits over WA's is, if any at all. Can anyone give me some insight on using WA and TMW in conjunction with each other?Seungsta6 2d
2d TMW - Bars as charges Hi, trying to improve my TMW foo. I'd like two bars for Few Rush. |------1-----||-----2-----| I would like to set it up so that: When there are two charges, both bars show. When there is one charge, [1] is solid WITHOUT a charging cooldown and [2] is growing with its charging cooldown. If there are zero charges, [2] would disappear until [1] had charged to full. Right now, I can get [2] to disappear using the "Minimum Stacks," but then bar [1] is charging and bar [2] reappears after it's done. It looks awful. I accomplished this effect in WeakAuras by having a background, a charging bar/solid bar for EACH charge of Fee Rush (five bars in total). I can't quite sort it out (or if it's possible) in TMW. But I'm trying to trim the add-on fat and I like the simplicity of TMW. Any advice greatly appreciated!Oily1 2d
2d /tar to target next target with same name? is there a way to target the next mob with the same name? for instance if i use </tar fe> to target anything beginning with "Fe" then i run it again, it will select the same target, even if there are two of target with the same name such as two different Felhounds. but if i need it to target the next enemy with the same name how could i get it to pass the first enemy targeted? i do understand that tab targeting is a thing, but i also know it can not be placed in a macro or be used from an addon so it is out of the question as a solution.Druidmenace10 2d

2d Can't use spells, then I get a Lua Error I can't figure this out. During raid or even a dungeon, at random times, I suddenly can't use certain spells. A few seconds later I'll get a Lua Error. The only way I can temporarily fix the problem is to reload, but I can't keep reloading my way through this expansion. Does anyone else have this issue? Below is one of the error messages I get: Message: ...ibraries\LibActionButton-1.0\LibActionButton-1.0.lua:784: Attempt to access forbidden object from code tainted by an AddOn Time: 07/19/17 01:24:36 Count: 481 Stack: ...ibraries\LibActionButton-1.0\LibActionButton-1.0.lua:784: Attempt to access forbidden object from code tainted by an AddOnInterface\SharedXML\SharedBasicControls.lua:189: in function <Interface\SharedXML\SharedBasicControls.lua:187> Interface\SharedXML\SharedBasicControls.lua:204: in function <Interface\SharedXML\SharedBasicControls.lua:203> [C]: ? 2d Bartender4 - Remove All Additions Hello all, I've been teaching myself how to use Bartender4 over the last few days, but I'm afraid I made a mess of things. I'd like to reset everything I've altered, but so far I can see no hard-reset option. Deleting the add-on (including all altered files) did nothing either; nor did activating the default Blizzard UI interface. I am sure that I am missing a simple step here, but any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much & cheers!Mahjøng5 2d
2d weak aura opacity question is there a way to adjust an aura so that it is partially transparent? My question is two parts....the second part, if so, can the aura be adjusted dynamically so that say, when a timer finishes, the opacity changes again?Grimdeeds6 2d
3d Need a little help with a simple addon It's a fairly simple addon. I'll post the code then explain it below the code: local MINING_GLOVES = "Grips of Damnation" local HERBALISM_GLOVES = "Forager's Gloves" local COMBAT_GLOVES = "Gorepetal's Gentle Grasp" local HERBALISM_TEXT = "Herbalism" local MINING_TEXT = "Mining" local GameTooltip = GameTooltip local GameTooltipTextLeft2 = GameTooltipTextLeft2 local EquipItemByName = EquipItemByName local Fighting = 2 local GGframe = CreateFrame("FRAME"); GGframe:RegisterEvent("LOOT_CLOSED"); local function ScanTooltip() if GameTooltip:NumLines() ~= 2 then return end local text = GameTooltipTextLeft2:GetText() if UnitAffectingCombat("player") then else if text:find(MINING_TEXT) then inFight() if Fighting == 3 then elseif Fighting == 4 then EquipItemByName(MINING_GLOVES) inFight() if Fighting == 3 then elseif Fighting == 4 then if event == "LOOT_CLOSED" then EquipItemByName(COMBAT_GLOVES) else C_Timer.After(5, CombatGloves) end end end elseif text:find(HERBALISM_TEXT) then inFight() if Fighting == 3 then elseif Fighting == 4 then EquipItemByName(HERBALISM_GLOVES) inFight() if Fighting == 3 then elseif Fighting == 4 then if event == "LOOT_CLOSED" then EquipItemByName(COMBAT_GLOVES) else C_Timer.After(5, CombatGloves) end end end end end end function CombatGloves() if UnitAffectingCombat("player") then C_Timer.After(5, CombatGloves) else EquipItemByName(COMBAT_GLOVES) end end function inFight() if UnitAffectingCombat("player") then Fighting = 3 else Fighting = 4 end end GGframe:SetScript("OnEvent", GGframe.OnEvent); GameTooltip:HookScript("OnTooltipSetDefaultAnchor", function(self) self:SetWidth(1) end) GameTooltip:HookScript("OnSizeChanged", ScanTooltip) Okay so... What I'm trying to accomplish is a simple glove switching addon for gathering. I've pieced together what I currently have and been learning how to do this on the fly (sorry if the code is a mess). What it currently does: When I hover over an herb or ore node, it checks the tooltip to see if it says "Herbalism" or "Mining". If it says herbalism, it checks to see if you are in combat. If you are, it does nothing. If you aren't it equips the gloves typed in for the herbalism slot. Mining does the mining gloves. It then waits 5 seconds, and checks to see if you are in combat (and goes into a loop, checking the combat every 5 seconds) until you are out of combat so it can equip the Combat Gloves. What I want it to do: An extra step that equips gloves as the loot window closes. So, you hover over a node, it equips your gloves, you swoop down and grab it, and then once the window closes, instead of waiting the next 2-3 secs, it equips your combat gloves right then. The problem I'm having: I can make it activate when the loot window closes. I can make it activate on a timer that waits 5 seconds. I can NOT for the life of me figure out how to do both. I'd like it to activate with the timer, and then if the loot window closes before the 5 seconds are up then the timer becomes obsolete and it equips the combat gloves right then. Right now, with the current code, it completely skips over the loot window closing and equips gloves after 5 seconds. I've been trying to figure this out on my own without having anyone else write it for me, but this is as far as I've been able to get. If anyone knows a solution, I'd really appreciate it =-bDeluneth13 3d
3d How to disable the new loot window Anyone know where the option to turn off the new loot notifications that appear in the middle of your screen would be? If not, would there be an addon or a script that can do so? Thank you. Edit: Searched on Google, Curse addons released since June 22nd, and Trade Chat, and found nothing, If I ever do find something to disable it I will update this thread with it.Khalash7 3d
3d Trp 3 profile recovery Due to corrupted data files outside of Trp, I'm forced to uninstall and reinstall WoW, including any remaining data in the World of Warcraft folder, like manually delete the Cache/WTF/Interface Files. But before I do that, I need some helpful advice on how to recover my profiles from the addon backup I have. Any thoughts?Ignitheus1 3d
3d Quartz LUA Error After some time, I reinstalled Quartz (3), it works just fine on casters, however, upon logging onto my Warrior, I kept getting spammed with this LUA error; ... This is extremely annoying because, although I've attempted to disable quite a few addons, and I'm left with this LUA error in specific. This is not a problem on any other of my casters, only melee seem to cause this error. I apologize if this isn't the right section for this, and I'd like to request being moved to the proper section if this isn't. I've attempted to troubleshoot and diagnose the problem to no avail, which I'm normally able to do. Any advice or tips would be appreciated.Lazurianis2 3d

4d Racial macro Would it be possible to make a macro that shows a tooltip and icon for my current active racial? Normally it'd be arcane torrent but when I merc it changes to shadowmeld. I can make a simple macro that uses the appropriate racial, but can only get it to show the tooltip for the first ability in the line.Lurhan7 4d
4d Blizz breaking Enemy Grid? Just noticed that this was snuck in on the patch notes: "Addons can no longer perform actions on nameplate tokens." Does this mean addons like Enemy Grid that pull in all the name plates into a tidy list will no longer work? This is a huge annoyance for DoT classes. Feels like finally someone came up with a better system for managing DoTs and they just go and break it? Why?! Nameplates have always been bad UI design for DoT tracking. They clip, they overlap, tabbing doesnt work well, Ifs near impossible to pick out important targets in a AoE pack (the fel guards in BRH surrounded by 100 bats). Anyone else have a good alternative for DoT tracking if Enemy Grid is dead.Skeletonpete31 4d
4d DBM - How to relocate bars Hello, I've recently downloaded and installed DBM and after moving around and customizing the bars they suddenly turned into a cascade, at first is not noticeable but after some of then they stack in the middle of the screen and I cannot find a way to stack them in a line again. Here's an image of how do they look http://i.imgur.com/Dvi85T3.jpg It's important to note that this started after I checked the "Expand upward" option in the Bar Setup menu.Xtian5 4d
4d Exclude Buffs in Weakauras As the title mentions, I'm trying to exclude some buffs from showing in Weakauras. I have a dynamic group with progress bars running that show all buffs on my character (or any alts). Works fine. I'm trying to make a similar one that will go over my player unit frame (using Shadowed Unit Frames, but i don't like their square buff icons and it doesn't really affect WA). I cloned the working one and it definitely works like I want but... and here's the problem: I'm trying to exclude "buffs without duration" , like mount "buffs", the Mana Divining Stone buff, this week's Sign of the Skirmisher buff, etc., but show all the other ones, like Ironfur, or HoT spells (all of which do show up like they should). So, is there a check box I'm missing? does it need some fancy Lua code? thanks in advance for any help :) !Zujuli0 4d
4d Auction sold amount info addon So i'm looking at creating an addon that replaces the "A buyer has been found for your auction of x." messages that appear when someone buys your auctions. I'd like it to include the amount the auction sold for, the buyer, etc. My problem is all of the auction functions I can find seem to return NO values at all unless the actual auction UI is open. Otherwise they're blank. Is there no way to retrieve sold auction info from outside the AH? I'm aware I could do some elaborate setup where I save all the posted auctions locally in SavedVariables but i'd rather not do that much and just pull the information directly from the game. Is this possible somehow? Thanks.Katorie0 4d
