Dec 15, 2012 Disconnecting after login. Finally got to try to log on (after 3 1/2 hours of waiting on Blizzards slackers), it looked promising, but then to my dismay... 10 seconds later i got disconnected. I tried at least 15 more times after that. Yesterday i made sure all my Drivers were up to date (including my router firmware), i completely turned off my firewall and antivirus program and ended all un-needed processes and services on my computer. I have 4 other MMORPGS on my computer and all of them work (DC Univers online, Runes of Magic, Pokemmo and Perfect World International). Ive spent at least 9 hours now trying to resolve this issue yesterday and today (i dont even go to work that long). Ill dedicate 1 more hour to this then after that im done. Every patch, same crap.Skädoosh75 Dec 15, 2012

Dec 15, 2012 This isn't a part of WoW, but... yeah I am having issues with Ventrilo, which I consider a part of WoW pretty much (not really, but still). I don't think my Vent itself is having an issue, but rather my computer. It isn't recognizing my recording devices at ALL. It's a laptop, and it isn't even recognizing the built in web-cam mic, or any mic I plug in. To use vent, I have to OBVIOUSLY have a recording device of some sort. Any help with this would be appreciated. My computer is an HP g6 series. (If that says anything to you whatsoever)Buttonbash1 Dec 15, 2012
Dec 15, 2012 Interesting disconnect issue I'm currently having an issue with the internet in my home where every 30 minutes or so I will lose connection for about 5 seconds, at which point it will come back. I am troubleshooting this myself with my ISP. However, it seems to be having a strange effect on WoW. When I'm playing WoW and this happens, I lag out as expected (I can move around, everything else stands still, action bar buttons go white but never fire). However, after 5 seconds when the internet comes back, WoW is still lagged out. I can tab out and confirm internet connection via a browser, but WoW remains in the lagged out state. It will stay like this indefinitely. As an experiment once when this occurred I left my computer for about 2 hours, and when I came back, I was still lagged out in WoW, and confirmed with some friends that I was still showing as logged in. Any attempt to logout either via exit/logout or /logout or /exit commands does nothing. The only way out is to ALT + F4 or close via task manager. Is this normal behavior for WoW after a 5 second lag spike in the internet connection? It feels like it shouldn't be.Roswind3 Dec 15, 2012
Dec 15, 2012 Can't Uninstall WoW and Login Problems I keep getting this message while attempting to uninstall and re-install WoW "Uninstall.xml" could not be read. I am uninstalling because whenever I attempt to log into WoW, it stops half-way at the loading bar and my whole computer freezes. Please help! Damianlol0 Dec 15, 2012
Dec 15, 2012 Need help ... Blizzard can't figure it out I've been having the "Character not found" issue for a long time now. I've post once a week here and get nothing. I've had multiple tickets across the year this issue has been keeping me out of the game completely. In my last ticket, like the others it ended in "We exhausted all our options ... we need to send this to a tech specialist". I've tried many things, probably everything that first comes to your head. I have no problems with any other functions on my computer including D3. I have a good graphics card and all my drivers are up-to date. I can't get on any characters except new ones and even then that doesn't work all the time. When I am on I get "Transfer Aborted: Instance Not Found" messages.Finalprayer0 Dec 15, 2012

Dec 14, 2012 CMD Ping test returning 100% packets loss.... But only to ping www.worldofwarcraft.com and other sites I don't lose any packets? Why is this, if I wanted to ping wow servers what is the site addresss to do so? Optional Info Reason being for testing this is because during gameplay, my World Latency jumped up over 1400. I was actually a spectator of a fight that had ended, I was a good 30 seconds behind the rest of the raid, I was literally chatting with them, as they were waiting for me at Deathwing, and I was watching them kill the tentacles and getting bloods off his back as if it was live footage, besides the long pauses.Tybudd7 Dec 14, 2012
Dec 14, 2012 I can't get past the launcher! OK, I tried reading through some threads, but frustration got to me. If there's a cure in another thread, please link me. I'm trying to open the game, and have been for days. I get an error that says: "Failed to read a required file. Please close all other applications, temporarily deactivate your antivirus software, and try again." I disable my antivirus (Avast) to try and log in, and it's doing no good at all. I saw someone suggest clearing cache and updates, so I tried that, didn't help. And nothing is telling me WHY it won't work. Help me? I want to play. :( Thanks!Caharina10 Dec 14, 2012
Dec 18, 2012 Pandaria Crashing... Any advice? Got the Mists of Pandaria expansion a few weeks back, and ever since then I have been having non-stop issues with the game crashing. This has happened at various points, including trying to log in to the game, while I am creating a character, logging into the game with a character, and mid-game whenever I have been able to log on (which has lasted a max of 15 minutes or so of play time). I play on a Macbook Pro, purchased in 2009. Version 10.6.8 Snow Leopard 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 So far, i've tried reducing the game resolution and graphics to the lowest of lows... which looks awful... but even that hasn't stopped the thing from crashing out of nowhere. Also downloaded some WOW Public Test thing as was suggested in another forum. That seemed to help me get past all those initial Pandaria updates, but other than that, crashing continues. My guess is it's my graphic card? I just had my RAM replaced shortly before I bought the expansion, though, and figured that would be enough. I'd rather not replace anything further if it's not necessary. Any assistance would be appreciated :) Thanks in advance.Deedle6 Dec 18, 2012
Dec 14, 2012 nVidia 306.97 - WoW still crashing Hello all, I've updated drivers to 306.97 and WoW keeps crashing on me. System specs: Windows 7 x64 Ultimate i7 2700K 16GB RAM Brand new out of the box GTX 680 1920x1200 resolution WoW 64-bit client DX11 I can run for about 20 minutes or so before it completely locks up my machine to the point where I have to hard reset. Previously I was running 301.42 and I got the driver failed message and WoW would disappear but still be playing in the background. I couldn't get to it, so I'd have to end task on it in Windows Task Manager. Since updating to the latest drivers (Mists of Pandaria approved! Yea right) it has gotten worse and I get the above issue. I'd really love to see this issue resolved quickly. On a system where I should be able to run 100+FPS on Ultra, it's very disappointing to see that I can barely play the game without having to restart it a half a dozen times during a single session.Mikaeb25 Dec 14, 2012

Dec 14, 2012 This character doesn't really exist So I've had this problem for at least 6 months and it's really been bugging me (I like to believe I have mild OCD, my friends like to just call me crazy), but this character doesn't really exist. I even went and remade a character on Wyrmrest with the name Baelnar and it worked. The forum roster showed 2 Baelnar@Wyrmrest Accord characters, even though this one cannot be accessed in game and doesn't appear on any other character sheets. Help?Baelnar0 Dec 14, 2012

Dec 14, 2012 Will of the Emperor blue arc graphic On every video I've seen of this fight, I can clearly see a blue arc showing up on the screen in the direction the devastating arc is going to be. On my system, this is not showing up, at all. There's not even a faint effect or anything. It is simply not there, regardless of my camera distance. I have an ATI Radeon HD 5870 I normally have dual 5870s but the fan on one is getting noisy so I've temporarily removed it from my system (shouldn't matter as CrossFire doesn't work in wow anyways). Graphics settings in game are turned to max, I am using DirectX 11 mode, 64 bit client. I am using the latest driver from AMD. All catalyst control center settings are set to their defaults. Vertical Sync is enabled. Triple Buffering is enabled as well as reduce input lag I am running windows 8 professional. I have an Intel core i7 920 CPU running @ 3.2 GHz (it's a factory overclock). I'm mainly curious if anyone else has noticed something like this, and if so do you know of any workaround? I've thought of switching back to DirectX 9, dropping graphics detail, and switching to the 32 bit client. I don't have time to keep trying that one fight over and over with different settings. If I do figure something out I'll post it here. Edit: Just to say the first thing I'm going to try is deleting my config.wtf to make sure it hasn't ended up with some obscure setting in it that's affecting spell effects. Then I'll just keep trying various setting changes each time I do the fight, and if I happen upon one that works, I'll update this topic.Bravehearth0 Dec 14, 2012

Dec 14, 2012 Connection hiccup When ever i enter a raid instance i have this issue happening where everyone will start running on spot like as if i'm dcing, but it only happens for a few seconds then is fine. Dec 14, 2012 Retrieving item information I've had this problem only recently (approximately two weeks). I'm noticing items not having names, and the tooltip says "Retrieving item information". The three major places where this is affecting gameplay: Visiting a vendor for the first time since restarting the game. Opening a profession pane for the first time since starting the game. Looting a boss at any time. After a boss dies I click the body to loot, my character animates as if it is looting, but the window never pops up until approximately 2-3 minutes after. I understand that this is an item cache issue. But it is almost as if the game is not adding items to the cache. Reliably the seed vendor in Halfhill has pages of "unnamed seeds" until I want another 2-3 minutes. I've tried following the Network Card Support article found at: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/network-card-support to no resolution. I've stressed my connection, and ran a flawless matt's trace to my server without interuption (with the exception of the final firewalled IP addr.) My latency to a consistent 46ms/41ms and not experiencing Unknown nameplates or disconnects. Could this be a file permission issue? I'm really at a loss.. Dec 14, 2012 Foriegn Alt Codes. Keyboard Language English So as you can see my main character has alt code ë in it (alt + 0235) however when I go to type this in WoW it shows as л. However, WoW isn't the only program with this issue, my Ventrilo also decides to not read altcodes. Instead of converting it to something different ë shows as e, making my admin password to vent invalid being it's not the correct username. So I really don't want to back and change anything and then end up getting this fixed. All of my other programs read Alt Codes just fine with the correct combinations, at least to my memory. Here's what happened. I went through an installation last night that I've used countless times on my previous computer, my cousin's computer, and a friend's computer except that this time it had a popup installer which just ran and it seemed to be just a bunch of random symbols. I've no doubt this was the cause of the change. I've got a scan running with no dice yet on it. But even if it was the cause it ONLY changed WoW and Vent. To Vent: The text displayed on the program seems more compact. No alt codes will read anywhere and the log in sound doesn't play 50% of the time. I've tried reinstalling twice with no luck. Originally my ë appeared as л. To WoW: The game works pretty much normal except when I go to type in an alt code it ends up looking like it's in some foriegn language, assuming Russian since the installer said RUS when it finished. ø = ш, ë = л, etc. I ticketed this and upon launching WoW it wants me to download a 3GiG patch, I had fully installed 5.1 when it came out and 5.1.0a was pretty small. When I opened the ticket response the answer was to uninstall all UI addons, deleted WTF/Interface/Cache and Cache in Data. I'm hesitant to do this to avoid an un-needed resetup. If its more than one program with a similar issue I'm not to sure as to it would work. If there's anyone who disagrees that I should then let me know. Just getting annoying that nothing else has worked. I'm playing with Playable right now on my launcher as well, yet I see no Bandwith or have any lagAfterlifë16 Dec 14, 2012

Dec 14, 2012 Low FPS / GPU usage only in wow. I'm working on a computer for a friend. She was having extremely low FPS to the point of crashing her computer at times when playing wow. No matter what settings we have the game on, the GPU load will not go up it seems. Symptoms: Getting 20fps and 30% GPU load on Ultra and Low settings with a Radeon HD 6570. I completely updated her OS, and drivers. I disabled services that weren't needed. Deleted the wow folders, including interface. After doing all of this, frame rate was still low, and GPU usage only at 30% give or take a few. She got frustrated and went to buy another video card, upgraded to an nvidia GTX 550 TI. Her frames on lowest settings in Durotar yield only 40-50, whereas my GTX 470 was giving me the max 200. On Ultra settings, only getting 7-9 in Durotar and LFR. I've removed frame throttling and done everything I can think of to get her FPS and GPU load up. could use some help.Kunther32 Dec 14, 2012
Dec 14, 2012 Immediate DC upon loading after patches I've got a fairly strange problem, or at least I think it's strange. After a patch installs, I cannot log into the game without being immediately DCd after loading into the world. This happens no matter which character I try to log into or where they are. Even a character in Bloodmyst Isle, surely one of the lowest populated zones in the game, does this. Not only that, but afterwards I have to disconnect and then reconnect to my router to be able to access the internet again. The first time this happened was after 5.1, and I was eventually able to solve the problem by plugging my computer directly into the router. This is not, for a variety of reasons, a viable solution for a permanent fix, but after doing so and logging in successfully, the game worked normally when it was back on a wireless connection. Until, that is, today's patch. The exact same problem is presenting itself. This is ONLY an issue with WoW. Other games and programs work perfectly, and WoW has worked just fine on this exact same network configuration, including patching, since Wrath. I expect that connecting it directly to the router will fix the problem again, but lugging my computer across the house to the far less convenient (and comfortable) room where the access point is installed every time a patch releases is not something I'm willing to do. Hopefully Blizzard can figure out what's going on here, but it seems to be an issue introduced in 5.1.Cormag3 Dec 14, 2012

Dec 14, 2012 FIX-Constant Error 132: Memory Can't Be Read Hey Everyone. I just wanted to post a fix for Memory Can't be Read and the constant 132 errors I was having. I have an ATI 7970 in a pretty good X79 system with FAST memory. I was trying the fixes posted in forums - DX9 only - 1X sample...bla bla bla. Updated Sound Card - everything - it was still happening. On a Lark - I just sat back and thought about it. I use DDR3 2133 memory (it is rated at that speed (I bought that stuff...not overclocked...). I slowed it down (underclocked it) to 1879 (next slowest speed...) and have not had a single issue since. I have since switched back to DX11 and all the desired AA settings. Stable as a Rock. If you have Fast Memory and your system behaves fine EXCEPT in WOW - dial it back a bit and see what happens for you. It solved my issues with Warcraft and was a very slight performance hit. take care. HowiHowi2 Dec 14, 2012
Dec 14, 2012 create account does not work log in page I am new to wow. I bought a startup edition, install went fine, but the link to create new account does not work. None of the html links on the start page work in fact. So, I went to Blizzard and tried to find to account page myself. All I could find is a trial version free account. How can I start a legit account for my puchased game? Also, install never asked for activation #. I don't get it! What's up with that? What is the link patlh to the right account page?Dyremaekre1 Dec 14, 2012

Dec 14, 2012 Game interface is acting strange. Hello, I've been having a persistent issue these past few days where my interface is... disappearing, I suppose? It's hard to describe. The best way I can put it is that things like the map don't load properly, where it will only be a black screen with the quest objectives displaced. Other little annoyances include transparent nameplates for both my character and my target, any recipes listed in profession menus don't appear until the third or fourth time I attempt opening it, and spell icons on my hot-bar. And the strange part is that it isn't about initially loading these things. Upon logging in, everything is fine. My map of Stormwind is fully detailed and aligned, etc. But as I play, these things slowly slink in and dampen my enjoyment. I assumed this was connected to one of my addons at first, as I use a few that modify the display like MyRolePlay. But turning them all off results in the exact same issues cropping up, and even fully uninstalling them proves futile to help. Is there any known cause for this sort of thing, and a method to resolve it?Sairelle8 Dec 14, 2012
Dec 14, 2012 Can not open the WotLK raid folder in Journal Hi, Still new to WoW, however Im considering going back and soloing some of the older content(whcih I never got a chance to experience) for xmogs, achieves and such. Anyway, when I go into the raid journal to search, I notice that the Wrath of the Lich King folder is shaded out, and I can not get into it. I can access the dungeons, however and this seems to be the only xpac I have this issue with. Is there a partciular reason for this, or am I experiencing a bug? Thanks!Gobblueth0 Dec 14, 2012

Dec 14, 2012 edit to wtf.config solves loop but can'tpatch HI Folks, I played just fine until the monday patch at which time I have the infinitely looping launcher issue. That issue was solved by editing the wtf.config to include SET patchlist "http://enUS.patch.battle.net:1119/patch" I now pass the launcher and get to sign in. The system, however, tries to update and then tells me I need to patch. Click ok and it's back to the launcher to start all over again. I have tried deleting wtf, cache, and updates folders as well as manually applying the patch from a mirror and replacing my WoW.tfil from a 3rd party as well. i do not have a battle.net folder and granted full access to wow.exe and launcher.exe to make what ever changes are needed. I also disabled everything i could find and even whitelisted battle.net and edgesuite just for kicks (shouldn't matter due to being off and all but anywhoo). so what's left? How do I tell the launcher and configs that the patch is there, please recognize it?Hachikuji1 Dec 14, 2012

Dec 14, 2012 Wow 5.1 video driver (TDR issue) *solved* After having repeated TDR issues I headed to these forums and perused the big sticky thread about it. I have tried multiple things to no avail, I do eventually get a TDR crash and I also notice that the last Blizzard response in that thread was quite awhile ago. I submitted something to Nvidia in regards to the issue as suggested in the Nvidia crash thread. There doesn't seem to be anything in their knowledge base about how to fix the issue from my end. I am not even sure if they will be providing a reply to the submission as that isn't very clear on the site or the email they sent me. As it stands I have no working solution for this and was wondering what my options are? At this point it doesn't seem to be my card because it is new and works with everything except Wow. I can't return it to point of purchase for a driver issue, and would feel guilty even if I could. So what I have is a brand spanking new card that should work wonderfully in Wow and doesn't and zero idea of if or when the issue will be fixed seeing as that is the second thread on Nvidia issues of that nature. Short of cancelling my account and maybe coming back later is there anything else I should be doing? The bottomline for me is I have spent a fair amount of cash on gtx 660 that should work wonderfully and the one game I tend to play most doesn't work right with it. I can't justify keeping my account subbed if the game doesn't work right and I won't toss out another couple hundred bucks to get a card that does work, or put the new one back in a box and use my old one to play wow. Short of packing up my bags and leaving Azeroth what I can do yet?Dushku4 Dec 14, 2012
