Jul 13 Characters disappeared?? My character lagged out in game (weirdly, I could see other people running around, so my connection was fine?). I quit the game and logged back in - it sat on the realm retrieval step for a lot longer than usual, then went to the realm list. Apparently, I have no characters anymore. UUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHCuqo37 Jul 13
Jul 13 "Character Not Found" I got home tonight and tried logging into WoW. The first problem I noticed is that it sat at the "Retrieving Realm List" for MUCH longer than it's suppose to. Once it finally popped up it shows me has having no characters on any server. I found the server I am on normally and selected it. It took a while to load but eventually loaded in my shaman. I selected him and waited on the loading screen only to be kicked back to the character select screen with the message "Character not found." Has anyone else been having this issue? I know it was a problem for some people in the past, but this is the first time for me.Zeeruss39 Jul 13
Jul 13 Characters not showing up After I log in instead of taking me to my most recent realm it takes me to realm selection and none of my realms show characters on them. when I go to a realm that I have characters on it's a toss up whether or not I can view my characters, on my current main realm misha I cannot while as for my previous main realm staghelm I can. Also when I use the legion companion app I cannot select my characters on that either. Plz help!Killman2 Jul 13

Jul 13 Korgath Won't Load So I don't believe this is a realm problem, because I haven't seen a post in the Korgath forums, but when I load WoW I can check my realms with my characters and play, but when I load Korgath nothing pops up. In fact the charcater list stays from the other realms even when it's suppose to show Korgath. I reset my computer but nothing is working.Muppins3 Jul 13

Jul 13 Char. X-fer, Hyjal log-in crash Hey there, I was able to log in on my character once it transferred from Fenris to Hyjal. Got my guild invite and then I went to take the Orgrimmar portal in Dalaran (Legion). Then, the loading screen crashed. I restarted the game and tried to get back in. Now, after an hour or so, I still cannot log into Hyjal at all; I get some kind of blank/black screen. I can still log in all my other realms with no problem. Not sure what i can do to fix this and get into Hyjal. Thanks for any insight you guys might have! Cheers, HyppoHyppocrates1 Jul 13
Jul 13 servers with my players are missing tried to log in,,, but got retrieving realm,,,, then the realm list popped up,, and any server with a character on it does not show.Bwittney3 Jul 13
Jul 13 Performance issue For some reason I've been lagging a lot while playing WOW since the last update. Before the update I would get a smooth 60 fps all the time with no lag spikes or anything. But since the update loading screens have been longer, and it's not just for the legion content, even when I go onto to my Lvl 48 warrior it lags and takes a long time to load. Can anyone explain what happened? And by the way even when I use the lowest graphic settings it still doesn't change a thing.Wizzlepizz12 Jul 13
Jul 13 Lagging in ToS on KJ Anyone else getting anything similar lately? Recently I've consistently been getting a kind of "lag buildup" where the ms is fine, but starts growing from say 150ms to 2.7k ms when I join a pug raid for a ToS Kil'Jaeden fight (normal). So far, the only thing I know is that it happens if the raid leader is on the Frostmourne server. I'm connecting in from Asia on Bonechewer. Incidently, frostmourne is nowhere to be found in the US selection on the looking glass tool, what's up with that?Cathelkondor0 Jul 13
Jul 13 Help with in game voice chat I used the in game voice chat and connected my X-Box headset/mic combo & I couldn't talk to my friends. I could hear them fine though. I am not running a firewall or Windows Defender. Output and input were set to default & I even tried switching the options, but to no avail. Any suggestions other than to use a 3rd party client? Thanks in advance.Zamballa0 Jul 13

Jul 13 Huge World Lag spikes, freezing the game for a while I'm having a really hard time raiding these days. The world lag is reaching 4 digit numbers, and it feels even higher than the stated 4 to 6 k ms, like the game freezes for a while &c. There are days when many members of my raiding core experience the same problem, but I'm still having the issue every raiding night, even if it is in isolated moments, like 25% of the time, in random moments. The text chat remains unaffected. I'm sending a WinMTR of one affected night, just in case. |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | 192.168.1.1 - 0 | 254 | 254 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 172.16.20.1 - 10 | 182 | 164 | 2 | 17 | 70 | 4 | | No response from host - 100 | 50 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 201-20-64-209.static.baydenet.com.br - 8 | 198 | 184 | 4 | 20 | 63 | 34 | | No response from host - 100 | 50 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 38.88.165.209 - 8 | 198 | 184 | 71 | 87 | 138 | 102 | | be2054.ccr21.mia01.atlas.cogentco.com - 9 | 190 | 174 | 71 | 87 | 138 | 106 | | be2122.ccr41.atl01.atlas.cogentco.com - 8 | 194 | 179 | 85 | 102 | 151 | 109 | | be2735.ccr41.ord01.atlas.cogentco.com - 11 | 178 | 159 | 102 | 117 | 168 | 137 | | be2765.ccr41.ord03.atlas.cogentco.com - 10 | 182 | 164 | 102 | 117 | 169 | 108 | | 38.104.102.29 - 11 | 178 | 159 | 102 | 118 | 169 | 137 | | 37.244.1.35 - 8 | 198 | 184 | 142 | 157 | 209 | 146 | | 24.105.31.4 - 9 | 190 | 174 | 142 | 157 | 209 | 173 | | 37.244.0.103 - 11 | 178 | 159 | 142 | 156 | 201 | 176 | | 24.105.30.129 - 11 | 178 | 159 | 142 | 154 | 206 | 143 | |________________________________________________|______|______|______|______|______|______| WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud ProviderBalhait0 Jul 13

Jul 13 SLI Causes WoW/PC to Freeze When Minimized Recently got a second GTX 1070 to run SLI. I understand WoW wasn't configured to utilize SLI but, I doubt it was intended to freeze up WoW to the point where I need to restart my PC. Before asking, yes, I have a recent driver (382.05. Another game ready driver shouldn't affect SLI this much). Am I missing something?Remsama3 Jul 13

Jul 12 Asked to provide a solution Hello there Chris! I am Game Master Llirdray, at your service. Thanks for reaching out to us today about this. I did some digging on your issue, and I have a bit of explanation on why it might not have been awarded. But the system is working properly. There are two reasons why you would not get the satchel, despite it being offered for your role. Those reasons are as follows: 1- If you are in a group of any size at the time you queue, it will not give you the satchel. 2a (LFD Only) - If while running a dungeon (not LFR, just LFD), someone leaves the group and the group as a whole is put back in queue to fill the now missing person, you will not get a satchel (because the instance now considers you as queuing with a group, instead of solo-queuing). 2b (LFR Only) - If while running a Raid (LFR, not LFD), someone leaves, when the group is put back in queue to wait for a new player, if the satchel is no longer available for your role at that time, it will no longer grant it to you. In other words, the satchel must be available from the moment you enter till the last boss is downed. We are most likely going to change this in the future so that it only matters if it was available at the time of initially queuing. This is usually the reason for people not getting the satchel in LFR. Even though your specific situation is actually working the way the developers intended, that doesn't in any way mean that it is the best way to work! We are always looking for ways of improving gameplay so that we can increase the joy and fun of each player's experience! Should you have any ideas on how we can make this better, or even any ideas on any improvement for the game, please do post them on our forums for the developers to see! Our forums are located at (http://us.blizzard.com/wow/en/forum/). You can also open a new in-game ticket and select "Suggestion" in the ticket menu, and put your suggestion there! Any ticket made with "suggestion" as the selection will be sent directly to our Quality Assurance teams and the Developers! Thanks again for contacting me today! I hope you have a great day, despite any unpleasantness this situation has caused you. Looking into this situation I did not queue with a group and yes LFR had people leave the raid as they usually do after they get the boss they want. For a simple solution as a person queues for a satchel and extra AP for a dungeon or LFR. Psuedo code to help (if queued for incentive roll and goes into instance as that role and completes the instance = true or finishes dungeon in queued incentive role = true) then receive incentive loot else do not receive lootPoskillz0 Jul 12

Jul 12 Dungeon Queue Dropping Over the last 24 hours I have been working on leveling toons and chain dungeoning with one other player consistently, and occasionally other players as well. While playing four separate times now after accepting a dungeon queue pop and loading into dungeon it immediately kicks me (and anyone I've been queued with) out of the dungeon and does not show anyone in the instance group other than original party members. When this happens I can still see people talking in instance group but cannot talk in /instance myself. The icon that allows you to teleport to dungeon disappears and there is no way for me to return to dungeon or do anything. After a short while I get a 30 minute deserter buff. Each time this has happened the results have differed. The first time it happened both myself and my girlfriend had the same issue, we play on the same network, and figured maybe it was just a once off. The next time there were 3 of us in a preformed group and all of us were affected, the other player is not on our network, not even in our country, so this definitely points to it not being a local problem. The third time it happened similarly to the first. But the most recent time I was kicked out the same as usual but my girlfriend did not have the same problem. While running we have seen this happen to two others that were completely unrelated to us, further showing that this is not a local problem. Just in case it was something local though we have tried clearing cache, we have restarted the client, reloaded UI, and rebooted computers. When I had opened a chat session with a GM they said they hadn't heard anything about this happening, and couldn't do anything about the deserter buff. It's incredibly frustrating when we are trying to level and chain dungeon to be penalized for a glitch in the game an there to be nothing that can be done about it. In any event, it seems like this is happening to more people that ourselves and the people in our immediate circle. Has anyone else been experiencing this issue or know a work around or fix?Muttface15 Jul 12
Jul 12 Scanning game files?!?!? So I downloaded the new patch, and it worked fine, logged in before I left for work to get my UI set up so when I got home in the evening I could just log in and play.....however when I went to log in, blizzard said my game files are damaged so they have to scan and repair. This happened AFTER I already installed the patch AND logged in to play it. I let it scan for about 15 hours before I gave up (scan would complete, then start again and just got caught in the loop). I should have mentioned that my WoW is stored onto an external hard drive I just plug into a usb, so once those files were damaged and blizzards scan and repair did absolutely nothing, I removed my external hard drive and downloaded WoW game client right to my computers hard drive. The patch downloaded and installed fine and when I went to log in....it worked!!! BUUUUUUUUT when I logged off and tried to log back in a few hours later, low and behold there was the scan again saying my game files are damaged. Blizzard support has been absolutely garbage in helping restore my game so I'm cancelling my subscription. Anyone else have issues like this?Sanchaz9 Jul 12
Jul 12 Constant small updates Almost every time I launch the Battlenet app, or right after I exit the game, I see the button that says 'Update" and it seems to download a fairly small update of some kind. It really strikes me as way too many micro-updates, because it's a daily occurrence (sometimes more). Any thoughts on this? Is it normal?Mistaan8 Jul 12

Jul 12 Abnormally Long Dalaran Load Times Title. Why? Is it the sharding? Is it instanced and now there is too many players in one spot from multiple realms? Doesn't matter if it's the Dalaran Hearthstone from anywhere or going from the Order Hall into Dalaran. I've had to now close WoW down on multiple occasions, then login again and let the game load it in from the character login. Very frustrating.Gorgandel1 Jul 12

Jul 12 Frequent Disconnects Hello, I am having problems with being constantly disconnected. I am however able to jump right back in to the game. I was wondering if I could get some help diagnosing and solving this issue. I have tried numerous steps through the support website, however I am reluctant to completely uninstall the game as I am afraid of losing my add-on settings. Jul 12 Right click to turn camera does'nt work properly As title says my mouse doesn't seem to lock onto wow all the time. What I mean by that is while holding down right click (for camera movement) the cursor would flicker back and forth from wow to nothing. The intervals are different too, it could work for hours without a problem to flickering every second. Problem only happens while playing wow and only recently. Mouse is Logitec G502d although I'm almost positive its not hardware issue. I've tried using fullscreen and windowed, no difference.Smallcat1 Jul 12
Jul 12 ERROR#132 Critical Error, Access Violation Help Last night I played the game perfectly fine and went straight to bed. The only thing that changed during the night was that my computer decided to automatically update windows 10 overnight. (note: it was not updating TO windows 10 as i already had it installed, but the OS windows 10 went through an automatic update) Now when I try to play WoW, the screen goes black, with the login menu sounds playing in the background, and an error message shows up with the title "WoW - 64" the error states: "This application has encountered a critical error: ERROR #132 (0x85100084) Fatal Exception! Program: C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\Wow-64.exe ProcessID: 7972 Exception: Access_Violation The Instruction at "0x00007ffe83d3d431" referenced at memory "0x00000000000000018" the memory could not be "read". Press OK to terminate the application. " Steps I have tried: Going to the files permissions and giving the user full control-no change Uninstalling the automatic Windows 10 update-Computer Running a little slower but the same Error Popped up Running the Repair tool-no change Reinstalling the Automatic Windows 10 update and then Reinstalling WoW-no change Deleting the WTF and Cache Files, and restarting the game-no change I believe it is worth noting as well that the string of numbers/letters (the "instruction" and the "memory") change each time, the numbers i have written on this post are just from the most recent bug. But the message is always an access violation, with a fatal error code 132. And that this Laptop is new, (less than a month old) I am looking into opening a ticket as well but am hoping to get some sort of help, or understanding as to what is going on. it is especially frustrating that this all happened with no user input, the game was working completely fine last night when i went to bed, but this morning it is showing this error. I also have a DxDiag file that i can provide but I'm not sure how to send it through forums, i also have the most recent error report (taken from World of Warcraft\Errors) but also do not know how to post those files throguh the forums.Smokedsàlmon13 Jul 12

Jul 12 [Linux] issues with Patch 6.2.4 (Consolidated Issues Thread) R09 Last Update: R09 (Final) Update Log: R09: Noted that this issue is patched in the latest versions of Wine. The issue should now be considered closed. R08: Rewrote most of the Issue #2 section as we now know exactly what causes the problem and there are several ways to fix it. R07: Added references to the wine patch that has been developed; improved the writing of the Ubuntu fixes. R06: Added a candidate fix for Debian R05: Understanding of issue #2 is maturing; several people have been able to fix the issue. We do not yet have a simple set of resolution directions, but we are getting closer. Also removed two requested feedback fields as they were deemed irrelevant. R04: We have a possible resolution path for Issue #2! Additional testing is needed, but we may have this one fixed soon. R03: Significant rewrite of section on Issue #2 as we've learned more about the problem and are getting closer to resolution. R02: Added a question for whether the user is using an Authenticator as Issue #2 happens fairly early in the authentication process. R01: Original Post. Description Many Linux users (my current count is about 60-70) have reported issues of being unable to connect to and play World of Warcraft since the release of Patch 6.2.4. These issues seem to fall into two different categories, which seem to have different troubleshooting steps. Because Blizzard does not officially support Linux, we are left to fend for ourselves in terms of achieving resolution, but the devs looked into it last night and there wasn't any changes in 6.2.4 that were believed to specifically break the application's ability to run in wine. This thread is a fork/consolidation of several other threads on the subject: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/20743025233 http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/20742845120 http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/20742855183 This post (first in the thread) has been periodically updated as more information became available. For the sake of convenience, the thread title was updated (R01, R02, R03, etc.) when there was a significant development. Issue #1: Error Code BLZ51900007 Upon attempting to log-in, user immediately receives the following error: "You have been disconnected (BLZ51900007)" and is returned to the log-in screen. (Screenshot: http://imgur.com/rhFslBw ) If you are not seeing this specific error message, proceed to issue #2, this does not apply to you. This is the issue I was personally having yesterday. The fix for this error appears to be to update to the latest version of Wine (1.9.7 or newer). Directions for how to do this can be found at https://www.winehq.org/download or from your distribution's support pages. If you are using PlayOnLinux or Crossover Office, verify which version of wine is being used underneath before submitting reports. At this point, it does not appear that anyone using the current version of Wine is receiving this error message upon attempting to log in (the four people who have reported this error are all either able to play now or are now experiencing issue #2 instead.) Issue #2: Client gets stuck on "Connecting" indefinitely Upon attempting to log-in, client gets stuck at "Connecting" indefinitely; may eventually time out or remain with this message on the screen until the user manually cancels the log-in process. (Screenshot from Raejien: http://imgur.com/TBYOAbY ) There is no specific error code or disconnect message. This seems to be the issue affecting the majority of users that have posted reports. We have identified that the cause of this issue is in secur32.dll.so, a wine library that implements encryption on the network stack for Windows applications. secur32.dll.so directs gnutls (the Linux library which actually implements the functionality) to perform an SSLv3 handshake with the server by default. This was acceptable behavior in prior versions of WoW but 6.2.4 removed tolerance for it, resulting in the client being abruptly dropped by the server, which now requires TLS (a newer encryption paradigm) only. To use a non-technical analogy, in prior versions of WoW, the visitor to the WoW club would first need to demonstrate the secret handshake to the guard, then provide their password to access. Patch 6.2.4 changed the rules; wine continues to use the old secret handshake which results in the guard slamming the door on you. Complicating our efforts to identify the problem was that gnutls actually dropped support for the SSLv3 handshake in a recent version anyway, resulting in many users (myself included) never even experiencing this issue, as it ignored wine's instructions to use SSLv3 and engaged via TLS by default, making the issue moot. Because of this, there are actually two fairly different ways to address this issue and get your game working if you are having this problem. The first is to update your distribution to use a recent version of gnutls, then purge/reinstall wine to link against the newer version. The second is to patch secur32.dll.so so that wine does not attempt to engage in the invalid login behavior. Both of these methods have their merits and reasonable arguments. Update Method The update method is confirmed to work for Ubuntu, ArchLinux, Gentoo and Debian and should be viewed as the more "official" approach. The benefits of the update method are that it does not require installing any unofficial wine patches, building wine from source or doing anything especially complicated. The main down-sides are that it may take longer (particularly for Gentoo) and for some distributions that have a slower release cycle (e.g. Linux Mint, Red Hat, Ubuntu LTS, OpenSuSE, etc.) it may not even be an option as the relevant gnutls binaries may not be available. Directions for how to do this on the distributions where there is a known good method are further down. Be sure you back-up any important files before performing a distribution upgrade as sometimes distribution upgrades can cause unexpected problems. Patch Method This method will probably work for all Linux distributions, although binaries have not been precompiled for all distributions. This method's main advantages are that it fills the void left by the lack of an update method for some distributions and that it's pretty simple (it summarizes to download and replace a file). Its main disadvantage is that you will either have to build wine from source (the discussion of this begins on page 11) or download a binary library that may not be optimized for your computer or could break your wine installation or cause issues with Windows applications that depend on the legacy behavior (a binary version is available on page 16 of this thread). Issue #2 Update Method for Ubuntu The update method for Ubuntu requires updating your distribution to the current stable version (15.10). If you are using the 14.04 LTS version, this will mean forgoing LTS, although you could instead upgrade to 16.04 LTS. Note that 16.04 does not currently support 3D acceleration on Radeon chips out of the box; be aware of this if opt to go that route and use a Radeon video card. To upgrade to 15.10 (the recommended method), follow the directions for upgrading your distribution at https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/serverguide/installing-upgrading.html To upgrade to 16.04 LTS, a guide is available here: http://itsfoss.com/upgrade-ubuntu-16-04/ After the update is complete, execute the following: sudo apt-get purge wine1.7 sudo apt-get purge wine-gecko2.34 sudo apt-get purge wine-mono4.5.4 sudo apt-get purge winetricks sudo apt-get purge winehq-devel sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wine/wine-builds sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install --install-recommends winehq-devel Issue #2 Update Method for Debian It's not clear this issue can be easily fixed in Debian without switching to the testing branch. Switching to the branch and updating all packages seems to work. You can do this by editing /etc/apt/sources.list and anything in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ -- replace "jessie" or "stable" with "stretch" or "testing" for everything except wine itself, which requires "stretch". Once that's done, run the following: apt-get update apt-get -y dist-upgrade Issue #2 Update Method for Gentoo Execute the following commands and wait for each to complete before moving on to the next. (This will take a long time.) emerge -vuND world emerge -C app-emulation/wine emerge app-emulation/wine Success cases Having fully identified the problem, we have been able to get the game working for nearly everyone that has reported issues; any remaining issues are not Linux-specific and outside the scope of this thread. Note that Wine 1.9.7 introduced a fix for the problem that was identified via this thread; some earlier versions of Wine (such as 1.9.4-1.9.6) will probably work as well provided that you have the current version of gnutls installed on your system, but if you're using the dev release of Wine you might as well use the latest version anyway. Special Thanks A lot of talented people have contributed heavily so far to this thread. Special mention goes to the following: Cashus, Enervé, Fraggy, Harju, Maldron, Panwe, Pontudinho, Rootsuid, Sciamana, Serensis, Store and Symax. Thank you all so much for your assistance. Jul 11 Can't use Flight Masters I have started a character on a trial account. I took him to Goldshire and tried to use the flight master to fly to Stormwind with no luck. The flight master shows me a few places where I should be able to fly to but nothing happens. I am also having this issue on a paid account where I have toons. I can use the flight masters on my main account only on Draenor. To add to this, my son has started playing on a trial account on Argent Dawn and is experiencing the same issues. Has someone else run into this problem, and if so, how was it fixed?Worfdemon3 Jul 11
