Oct 13, 2012 Dock Hiding Glitch/bug This happens in the beta too. Basically, whenever I launch WoW 5.0 (or the Beta for that matter), it turns Dock Hiding on even though I have it set to Off. I have to go (after quitting the game) and manually set it to 'On' and then back to 'Off' to clear it. It's just kind of annoying. D3 did this too in the beta, but then by live release it'd been fixed, so I don't know why WoW/the Beta still does it.Arenvald14 Oct 13, 2012

Oct 12, 2012 Windows 7 and Retina Displays I learned something I thought was profound and very helpful that I have not seen anywhere, so I thought I'd post it here. On Windows 7 side (via Bootcamp), running WoW in Full Screen (Windowed) mode lets you run the game at a lower resolution while taking advantage of the OS "scaling" feature. I don't know how to better express this. If you just run on Full Screen mode, the sharpness of the game is lost at lower resolutions. But running in Full Screen (Windowed) mode, the game looks sharp at almost any resolution. I think this is useful because it helped me run the game in a way that wasn't as intense on my laptop. The MBPR machines are very capable computers, no doubt, but trying to run WoW at 2880x1800 resolution is very taxing on the system. I found that I could only run it consistently well at "Good" graphic setting; anything else, and the machine would overheat (read: FPS tanks, no matter the graphic settings) and then the only solution was simply to shut the machine down and let it cool off. I wanted to run it at a lower resolution to get higher graphic settings (I feel this gave me a more beautiful world to play in) but I found the quality really bad. Through troubleshooting, I found that in Full Screen (Windowed) mode, I could run the game at 1920x1200 at Ultra (with SSAO disabled) and get consistent 30-35fps without overheating! I'm very happy with this result. Perhaps this post will be buried underneath more pertinent topics, but I would be remiss if I didn't share.Thijs0 Oct 12, 2012

Oct 11, 2012 Corrupt WoW application I started downloading patch 5.0.5 and then stopped (quit the launcher) and when i tried to resume i received a message saying Error: "/Application/World of Warcraft/Updates/wow-0-16135-OSX-final.MPQ" appears to be corrupt. You may need to download this file again. Does anyone else have this problem and if so, does anyone know how to redownload the file or something like thatVyndorian2 Oct 11, 2012
Oct 11, 2012 Streaming WoW video to the web, from Mac Hey all, I know this isn't a tech issue with WoW, but the Mac forums have usually been pretty helpful regarding these kinds of questions in the past, so what the hey. Does anyone have any resources regarding streaming footage of WoW while on OSX? My guild thought it would be a fun idea to setup a raid stream while we're learning new bosses, so that people that get benched for the night can see what we're trying and not miss out on the fun and new strategies. Main issue is, I run Mac, and nearly every program I find about streaming WoW is generally windows based. I can find services like justin.tv and Live Stream for sending desktop feed, but they don't seem to work with WoW's video feed. Live Stream in particular seems to have built in support for WoW, but on Windows only. There seems to be very few utilities that I can find that will feed the WoW video to these services while running OSX. I've got Win7 on a partition for other things, but I'd rather not have to maintain two separate installations of WoW if I can avoid it (that's an extra 30+ gigs I'd have to give up on HD space alone). Does anyone have any helpful tips for streaming to justin.tv or a similar service? Is my google-fu just weak? Thanks.Isuraa1 Oct 11, 2012
Oct 11, 2012 Optimization for Retina MacBook Pro I have the highest end Retina MacBook Pro (SSD, 2.7 Ghz Intel Core i7, 16GB 1600 Mhz DDR3). I haven't been able to get great FPS in MOP - definitely finding it hard to get a consistent 30FPS. Unless I seriously drop the resolution (1969 x something or other) and turn it down to Good or High, I can't really seem to get great FPS. Any thoughts here? I assumed when I forked over a bunch of dollars for this machine it would be able to max out the settings. I'm a bit frustrated by that! Thanks for your help, RilelyRilely17 Oct 11, 2012
Oct 11, 2012 Frame Rate issues with Mac Book Pro Retina Hi, I am having an issue that causes my frame rate to bottom out and refuse to go over 10fps no matter what setting I run WoW on. This happened when I first got Mists of Pandaria and now it is happening again. Also when WoW is running my entire system gets punished and runs very slow and slugish. This was fixed like I said for a few weeks and just started again tonight. My specs are: MacBook Pro Retina 15in 2.3 Ghz Intel i7 8Gb ram NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB 10.8.2 OSX I have also tried clearing the Cache WTF and Data Cache foldersShmookie2 Oct 11, 2012

Oct 11, 2012 Logging onto different realms Because my Paladins realm is over populated (I sit in queues for 1 and a half hours or more everytime) I like to log onto my alts, but I am often forced to quit the game and log back in, where I'm on the realm I wanted. Without restarting WoW I'm suck on "Logging into server" or something along those lines. It's just rather annoying, anyone know why?Reclusionx0 Oct 11, 2012

Oct 11, 2012 Cant get to login screen For the last week I have been trying to play WoW and the launcher comes up alright saying wow is uptodate when I click on the play button the screen turns black as per usual but then it dos nothing. If given a minute the rainbow circle appears to say its waiting and given 5 minutes the application closes with a problem report. I know this is a generalised problem as my brother says his computer (also mac) is fine right now and his been on his character. Im not even sure where to start to fix the problem and am considering deleting the game off the computer and reinstalling it. If I do can I get it free online again as I purchased the games online.Zoeline1 Oct 11, 2012

Oct 11, 2012 Crashing during/after Character Selection I have tried loading the game several times with similar results. Initially the game would completely close, with no error message, after selecting a different character. After repeating this with all of my characters on a realm (allowing them to fully load in and then crash on the next selection) I am able to select freely with no problems. During this time the loading bars for the characters were extremely chaotic, jumping all over the place as far as progress. Now I am able to select characters without a problem, but after clicking 'Enter World' the same type of crash occurs and I have yet to load into the game successfully. The launcher says the game is up to date and my current version is 5.0.5 (16057) I don't know if this is relevant, but I also tried reloading without my USB headset plugged in and it did not change the outcome. Oct 10, 2012 Blizzard Launcher Relaunching So today I loaded my WoW straight from the 64-bit game file. It prompted me to close the game and download a patch, so I did. The game launcher loaded and began to update the game files. Quick download later the launcher told me I was able to play, so I clicked Play. The 64-bit client started to bounce up and down like it was opening, but then closed ~5 seconds later to open the launcher. The launcher says it is updating game files VERY quickly and then says that I can play. This cycle is never broken. Please help.Magookas5 Oct 10, 2012
Oct 10, 2012 SOLVED: Launcher caused MPBr to freeze. I was having an issue today and was able to solve it and figured I'd post this incase it helps anyone else out. Problem: Every time I launched the Blizzard Launcher for WoW it would hang on Initializing and then my entire MBPr would freeze. Solution: I turned off Kapersky Anti-Virus 2012 for Mac and was able to start up the launcher and apply the 5.0.5b patch. After that I was able to turn my anti-virus back on and run the Blizzard Launcher normally. Details: MBPr 2012, OS X 10.8.2, Agent log showed the crash happening when the launcher tried to "GET /update/client". Hope this helps someone.Akihito1 Oct 10, 2012
Oct 10, 2012 Cant download new patch im on OSX 10.7.4. I open up the launcher and it starts downloading updated tools.. It asks me for my password and it switches over to the MoP launcher. I put my password in and it tells me it should take between 15 and 60 minutes and i click okay. Then it stays on 1% for about 10 minutes then it tells me to check my internet connection and try again, i try again and it does the same thing. Any suggestions to fix this i wanna play?Insomnia12 Oct 10, 2012

Oct 10, 2012 Patch 5.04/5.05 with OSx 10.8.2 performance Hello, Ever since the MoP patch, I have experienced problems with performance such as ones mentioned on this thread like the FPS stutter on DragonSoul Warmaster Blackthorn encounter. Now, it seems to be happening more often. Whenever I zone in somewhere, after hearthing or logging in, I experience the same stutter for awhile, even with my graphics turned all the way down. This also happens when I am in the Gate of the Setting Sun dungeon, looking out over the gate. Here are my specs: Mid 2011 Imac Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB Software OS X 10.8.2 Has there been a fix for this yet? I have tried running with no addons, deleting WTF, Cache, and Interface folders, and resetting the SMC. Still seems to be giving me problems. Am I running an out-of-date OS or something? I have been checking my software update regularly and still see nothing to update.Marc16 Oct 10, 2012
Oct 10, 2012 Preformance since MOP I have the latest 27in iMac best off the rack model. I have up graded the RAM to 16gb. Before MOP but after the patch that fixed the problems 5.0 brought. I didn't really have any issues; everything on high and stayed around 50fps. After MOP dropped my fps is down in the 20s. I have moved my folder nuked my cache and let the downloader rebuild it. I've taken all add-ons out. I've done 2 fresh installs. No matter what I get 20's fps and crazy jitter. The game will be going along and then just freeze for a sec. My temps are fine. What's more I did boot camp and I can run WoW on ultra except for shadows which are on high and I’m in the 50's fps. I get no issues what so ever in windows. What more can I do as I don't like having to boot into windows just to play WoW as all my other needs and apps are in OSX. I have all the latest patches for OSX. I close all other programs when WoW is running on OSX as well. A lot of what is happening is what was happening in D3 before the patch fixed that, which I also ran in OSX.Nexxdominus2 Oct 10, 2012
Oct 10, 2012 Graphics Settings for Raiding Hello, I am raiding on the latest mac mini and for the most part I have no issues. I have Fps capped at 30 and most settings on a lower than recommended value ("high") (only because there seemed to be issues when I first installed wow). I'm not sure if that would be the case anymore because I installed 16 gb of memory since then and blizzard has addressed a CPU issue. In any case, I was in Mogushan Vaults today both in a guild run and LFR. I was twinking with the graphics settings and noticed a huge difference in the ground effects. In the guild run I could hardly see the boss ground effects for the Cobalt mines in the Stone Guard encounter. Then later in the LFR run (same encounter) I could see dotted circles around the mines (which I didn't know were even there till I made the graphics changes). So which graphic setting (s) is responsible for this? Is it only ground clutter? Or is there another one? p. s. The only encounter i have major issues on fair/good settings is Sha of Anger. Just seems to get choppy, laggy occasionally especially when all the black clouds appear. p. s. s. I know there are recommended graphics settings in this forum but they do not seem to acknowledge the fact that the game and its graphics demands are very different when sitting in stormwind/oggrimar compared to doing a 25 man BG or raid. Furthermore, there is a minimum threshold (obviously above the "low" setting) for ground effects in raids to remain playable. There should be a warning about this in the graphics dialogue section.Hollywould0 Oct 10, 2012
Oct 10, 2012 Game Freezing when switching to Widowed mode Hey, I was hoping I could get some help. Although I can go from windowed(command+m) to fullscreen easily when I first log in, after playing for 10-15 minutes and trying to switch to windowed mode my screen freezes and I'm forced to hit the power button to restart my mac. Please help this is extremely frustrating. Brand new Mac Book Pro, I have this feeling reinstalling the game won't fix this. Thanks,Dydd0 Oct 10, 2012
Oct 10, 2012 Solid FPS but Jittering I am running on a Late 2011 Macbook Pro with 8gb Ram, i7 and a 6770m gpu. I have a consistent framerate while playing on my 22inch monitor in 1920x1080. Up until recently everything was perfect, however I noticed after MoP dropped I would notice my character having jerky movements when walking around as if the background would lag behind and the catch up again when moving. For example I'll be walking and my characters movement will appear laggy yet my connection is fine and my FPS is 45-50+. I have noticed that his generally does not happen right away when I log in but shortly after. Any help would be much appreciated :) While this does not make the game unplayable it is definitely annoying.Geemart4 Oct 10, 2012

Oct 9, 2012 Apples response to kernel panic launching wow So I suddenly started getting kernel panics any time i launched WoW on my Retina MPB last week. I talked to Blizzard technical support and they looked through the kernel panic logs and suggested it was a hardware issue and to go into apple. I went in and Apple said it was my logic board and a problem they had seen before. They took it in for repair and they call me today. Apple said on the phone that even after replacing the logic board they were still seeing a kernel panic when launching WoW. they looked into it further and said the reason it was happening was that WoW did not support the 1920 'more space' resolution of my display and said it needed to be on 'best retina'. I find this odd considering Blizz has stated that the game supports up to native 2880 and i had been playing with my screen res at 'more space' since June with no issues. Can i please get a blue to clarify what is going on and if this is true? thanks.Antelathil39 Oct 9, 2012
Oct 8, 2012 Strange latency issue with Macbook Pro For the past couple of days, my wife's macbook has been having some seriously bad latency issues. Everything will be fine when she first logs on, but after only 5 minutes her home latency will stay at a comfortable 50ms while her world latency shoots to 1200+. Ive tried a variety of fixes. We've emptied cache and WTF, we've reloaded her UI, we've gotten rid of all add ons. I've tried hardwiring her connection instead of using wireless, I've tried power cycling our modem and router numerous times. And each time it will still lag. Another strange thing is this only seems to happen when we play together...when she's at work and I try to troubleshoot her computer I experience no issues, but as soon as I load up on my computer as well it happens. What strikes me as odd about this is the fact that I experience no lag or connection issues what-so-ever while her play experience gets destroyed. Any direction would be most appreciated. Thank youVilkus1 Oct 8, 2012
Oct 8, 2012 Macbook Pro locks up in pvp/raids Since downloading patch 5.0.4, my Macbook Pro has been locking up on occasion while in game. Oct 8, 2012 Clamshell-ish mode vs both displays on Hi, I have a Retina display MacBook Pro with the 650M graphics chip. I play on an external monitor most of the time, and I usually close the lid before starting WoW and open the lid back up as soon as WoW is launched (the system does not exit clamshell mode with the lid opened, thanks to WoW). I did this because I thought leaving on my internal monitor on my laptop with that black screen would take some of my GPU power. (I mean rendering at 2880x1800 + 1920x1080 can't be easy on that chip, right?) I went ahead and tested it today, and it seems like my framerate stayed very high even with my lid open and the screen on. Does it actually use GPU to draw that black screen? Have I been wasting time closing the lid all this time? tl;dr: Does the black screen that WoW put on your internal monitor / secondary monitor use GPU / CPU power to render? Is there actually a performance difference? Thanks all!Anzio2 Oct 8, 2012
Oct 8, 2012 Apply patch error - already have the patch I start up my WoW, and log in like always. Then it starts "Downloading Update.. #%" and stops at about 90%, telling me "Patch required" and to apply the patch. Then it proceeds to say it failed to apply the patch. I've already downloaded patch 5.0.4, and my game was working properly at around 3:20 PDT. Then all of a sudden this started happening. Screens: http://puu.sh/ZMJz.png http://puu.sh/ZMKd.png http://puu.sh/ZML3.png There is no patch to download from the downloader/launcher, since I've already downloaded it before. Also, opening the background downloader results in this: http://puu.sh/ZMMp.png I have no idea what is going on.Niernen19 Oct 8, 2012
Oct 8, 2012 CPU usage So back before the patch came out that fixed the CPU usage issue that macs were having when MoP launched, I was at anywhere from 100%-110%. After the patch, and until this morning, everything was fine and I was back to my usual 60fps. I log in this morning and it seems like the problem has come back for me. (I can usually tell because when I'm on the login screen there is the slightest delay when typing my information) My FPS is back down to ~25 on lowest settings and CPU usage is back up to around 105%. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? More specifically beginning this morning?Worked3 Oct 8, 2012
Oct 8, 2012 Unplayable WoW This is ridiculous! I can barely do any pvp... My fps goes down to 14 and I have the lastest 15inch MacBook Pro... It's been over a week, I have done all those Smc resets and still nothing. Oct 8, 2012 new game client won't launch 10.8.2 Hey everyone. Did some forum searching and not having a lot of luck with what I am seeing. I am trying to get the game downloaded again for gameplay on my Mac. It is OS X 10.8.2. I hit the battle.net site and download the world-of-warcraft-setup-enUS.zip file and extract the content to my Applications folder. When I try to run the app nothing happens. The icon expands confirming it has been clicked but nothing is there. There are no applications listed in my Force Quit either. Any help or direction is appreciated.Skadoesh3 Oct 8, 2012
Oct 8, 2012 10/7/2012 - Frame Rate Drop I logged on about an hour ago and noticed that my FPS has dropped from about 45 to 25 in towns, and from 53 to about 35 on average in Pandaria zones. I played this morning and I did not have this problem earlier. I tried to reset my SMC and the problem persists. I have a brand new base model RMBP. These are my specs: Retina, Mid 2012 Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB Software OS X 10.8.2 (12C60) 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory I am concerned because I have been playing on this computer since I got it and I have had no problems so far. I would like to know if this is an known issue, or how it can be fixed. Thank you.Nsih3 Oct 8, 2012
Oct 8, 2012 Extremely Laggy It wasn't until I installed MoP have i had this issue. No matter where I am on whatever toon, I'll be running a smooth frame rate, then it'll get all draggy/laggy almost slow motion like. Its bugging the heck out of me because it interferes with my questing and PvPing. Weither I'm in Kun Lai Summit or the middle of Durotar on an alt, it doesn't seem to stop. Any suggestions? I already have all my graphic settings on low. I'll post software info in separate replyUnlockk4 Oct 8, 2012
Oct 8, 2012 Constant "Lua Errors" Every single time I get any proc (FoF, hotstreak, brainfreeze, impact) I get a error message and a box appears over the middle of screen. As a mage this makes the game completely unplayable as I proc about once per second. I've updated all my addons on my Curse client, this has never been a problem for me before. Is there anyway way I can disable these error messages (perhaps a random ui option or an addon that blocks these massively annoying boxes from appearing)? Please help, I literally cannot play like this.Plänt12 Oct 8, 2012
Oct 8, 2012 iMac video quality/FPS Hey there. Looking at upgrading my old computer, which is able to keep up with WoW and other things, but only barely. Trying to decide between a new iMac or Pro. As the iMac only has the AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512MB GDDR5 for a video card option, is that sufficient to run it at native resolution and still get good framerates. I get major lagging in large raids, particularly on the Blackhorn encounter in DS, something about rendering the skylines. Feedback on the current round of iMac performance is welcomed.Xleight3 Oct 8, 2012
Oct 8, 2012 Mid 2010 Macbook Pro Hard lockup I have an issue on my Mid 2010 Macbook pro 13" running OSX 10.7.5 with the Nvidia 320m 256 MB video card, 8 GB of ram, and Dual core 2.66ghz processor. Everytime I login with my warlock, Ambeka, on server Thrall (Horde) and I am near the PVP vendors in Pandaria on the Serpents Spine my Macbook locks up. Even if i have wow running in a window when it locks up I still cannot close wow or intact with OSX at all. I have control of my mouse but that's all, I have to hard restart the computer using the power button. Al of my other characters work fine, no issues, it's just that one character in that one area, and I have to login to a windows pc to get my Warlock away from that area. After she is away from the area I can login to my mac and everything is fine. I thought it might be a caching issue so I deleted the cache in the wow and data folders. I also removed the interface folder, the wtf folder, and the battle.net folder in the users/shared folder, but i keep having the same issue. I am an avid PVPer and would like to be able to buy gear before I reach my cap and have nothing to do with the points, Please Help!Ambeka5 Oct 8, 2012
Oct 7, 2012 Can't connect to servers Ever since the 5.0.4 patch I have been unable to connect to the game server. I log in and it does the usual Connecting > Success, but it stops there. Several minutes later it brings up the realm selection screen. I select my realms and click "Okay" Then it sits at the Logging in to game server for several minutes before doing nothing. Starcraft and other games still work. And WoW worked fine pre patch but now I can't get on. Any help would be appreciated.Shazman49 Oct 7, 2012

Oct 7, 2012 Issues playing on macbook Hi! I have an older macbook pro (2006) though it is fully upgraded with 2gb ram and 500gb hard drive memory. I casually downloaded wow just so see if I could get MoP to work on this old machine. It downloaded and I'm able to log on. Here is what happens though I'm getting like static lines across the screen. Now I'm still in the middle of fully installing the game client so I'm taking that into account hoping that once its fully downloaded the lines might stop but I may not be able to play wow on this machine :(. Ok Here is my question does anyone have any idea about these static lines I'm getting and any way I can change settings on the mac to run better. my graphics are all the way down in game. When I'm attempting to play the lines do seem to go away and only come intermittently. As expected game play is kind of slow but I'm not too concerned about that for now... now do you think (and i'm not sure this is even possible) that if I put in a brand new video card I would have better game play? I'm doing research on my own to see if there is anything I can do (and I'm aware that the graphics card is a chip soldered to the machine i'm talking about those external graphics cards that i'm finding). Thank you so much for your advice I really hope to be able to game on this machine but if I can't i'll just cry a little inside and wait until I can get a desktop ^_^Rockhard2 Oct 7, 2012
Oct 7, 2012 Frozen installer I got bored and decided to play the starter edition to WoW so I opened the WoW launcher and I hadn't played in so long that it was still at 4.3.4. It opened the mists of pandaria installer thingy and it's stuck at 0%. How do I fix it? (I don't have MoP yet, if that helps)Calliie1 Oct 7, 2012
