Oct 30 Kernel_Task.... So i probably understand that this isn't a WoW issue, and more MacOS issue (it seems only mac gamers know what the issue is) but has anybody been dealing with this issue where you will be playing wow or any other high performance task then the performance drops and to nil, then the fans come on and it will stay like that till you reboot, and in activity monitor it will say kernel_task at 600+ cpu load? i have phoned apple support, they asked me to upgrade to high sierra, but that made the performance even worse, i also deleted all my widgets that they viewed as suspect like razer add-on and logitech add-on. this did make the performance spikes infrequent but they still occur. i have since gone back to just sierra cause i found that sierra was the least problematic MacOS i had used regarding this issue. Im hopping for just a bit of incite to this cause i have tried a lot of things and it doesn't seem like a software issue perhaps a hardware issue, but i could really use any guidance as a next step. thanks iMac (27-inch, Late 2012) 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB macOS sierra 10.12.6 (16G1510Bløødtøøth3 Oct 30

Oct 27 "This Bird You Cannot Change" camera broken Camera is broken after attempting this WQ. (Note I say attempting rather than completing, there is no completing this quest). I tried taking a screenshot of mine, but the screenshots on Mac are taken without the cursor (of course) One weird thing I noticed if I 3-finger swipe on the track just a little bit to the left (like I'm going to the dashboard) then the icon looks normal. Oct 26 Mojave 10.14.1 adds NVMe support for Mac Pro As per the MacRumors forums: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/mp5-1-mojave-10-14-1-dp3-bootrom-140-0-0-0-0-has-nvme-support.2132317/ More specifically, the will allow Mac Pro 4,1 and 5,1 to boot from NVMe drives, which will allow NVMe boot drives to be installed in the PCIe slots. There might be no point to this as the PCIe 2.0 limits might mean no real world performance gains over SATA 3 SSD drives installed in a slot, but then again it gives cMP owners another high-speed boot option.Sagerremeseb9 Oct 26

Oct 25 Flickering and stuttering Over the past few weeks I've had a growing problem of the game suddenly freezing, flickering and going entirely black for a second or two. When it ends I'm usually stuck in running mode until I tab out and back in. It's only happening in wow and seems to be a problem with the windowed fullscreen mode (as it doesn't occur in the windowed mode). Any suggestions (e.g. drivers etc) to stop this happening? I assume its some conflict with Mojave.Pandamonea2 Oct 25
Oct 24 PTR Client Crash Using version 10.13.6 on this mac, I know the Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) is still usable but somewhat out of date. Any time I try to load the PTR, it crashes and brings up a Blizzard Error. This concerns me. I know its the PTR and stuff like this happens, but if its a Patch problem, I hope 8.1 is able to run on my computer when it goes live. Has anyone had similar PTR crashes after hitting "Play"?Ignitheus41 Oct 24

I've been kicked out of dungeons for not loading in fast enough, it's getting ridiculous. Any help is much appreciated.Sapid5 Oct 24

Oct 17 BlackMagic eGPU running WoW My BlackMagic eGPU arrived today! With the arrival of WoW 8.0, thought it would be good to post what my experience has been like. First, being able to plug-in the eGPU, plugin the LG UltraFine 5K monitor, and for it to just work, is great. For WoW, the default Graphics Quality settings seem to default to a 5 with the eGPU plugged in. I did hit the "Recommend" button to reset everything just to make sure that was correct, as the built in R460 in my MBP also defaults to 5. I have been playing around with the settings a little bit, playing in the new "Full Screen (windowed)" mode, I feel like I can set the Graphic Quality settings to 7, and keep the new Resolution Scale at 100% (5120x2880/5K). I get 35-45FPS in Org, 55-60FPS outside of cites. I must say the game looks amazing in 5K! Clearly you can lower the Resolution Scale, and increase the Graphics Quality, but I feel like everything gets very blurry if you do that. Not sure if anyone has a recommendation on some type of happy medium. What is interesting is that under the Advance options > Graphic Card > you can actually see all the GPU's the machine has. In my case, Intel 530, R460, and the R580. What I am curious about, does WoW support eGPU on the main display, or only the external display? I think I read somewhere that with Metal it is up to the developer to support it or not. But i could be completely wrong. My current setup is: OS: 10.13.6 Mac: 2016 15" MacBook Pro TouchBar CPU: 2.9 i7 Ram: 16GB GPU: Radeon Pro 460 4GBGurukaos54 Oct 17

Oct 16 Mac 3D Accelerator Card not supported So I got an invite to Alpha for BfA and was excited to check it out but as soon as I hit play an error pops up saying "Your 3D accelerator card is not supported by World of Warcraft. For more information please see https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/world-of-warcraft-system-requirements" my IMac is a mid 2010 27-inch and the graphics for it are ATI Radeon HD 5670, I have never had an issue before with graphics or anything with WoW, so I was curious as to what I have to do to fix the problem? I'm a bit confused and would really love to check out the Alpha, especially if this may be a problem when BfA releases.Jineatrix188 Oct 16
Oct 16 Boot Error When Launching Game Good evening, Several times this evening, I've tried launching World of Warcraft both via the Launcher and the game icon itself and have received this error report: "72CC5A76-5A57-42AA-BAB6-01B26CF4DADF." That is all that I am given as a Boot Error. I've deleted the Cache, WTF, and Interface folders, restarted my Mac several times, and run a First Aid and malware/full virus scan. Everything has come up clean, and yet the game refuses to launch. Is this a me-side issue or a game issue? I'm not seeing any other posts with similar problems .... I hope it's not a me-side issue.Amarine2 Oct 16

Oct 14 New to Bootcamp, looking for advice. I'm going to finally take the plunge and install Bootcamp to run World of Warcraft via Windows 10 on my late 2014 27" iMac. My hope is that I'll bypass a lot of the problems I'm having on macOS (strained GPU, FPS issues even on lowest settings, etc). The installation for Windows seems pretty straightforward but I have not been a Windows user in well... since Windows XP? Not sure how to go about updating the drivers on my AMD Radeon R9 M295X (4GB) or if there is anything I should 'know' about Windows 10 that might impact my decision. Help is always appreciated ;DSededirusi6 Oct 14
Oct 13 iMac Pro Performance Stutters This iMac Pro (2017) system is running macOS High Sierra 10.13.6, 3.2 GHz Intel Xeon W, 32 GB DDR4, 16GB Radeon Pro Vega 64. With my graphics settings I get a solid 60 fps. When I first start WoW it is incredibly consistent. After about 5 minutes, however, it goes into the this mode where it stutters every 3-10 seconds. 60 fps at all times then a dip to low, low fps every 3-10 seconds for a second or two. It's infuriating because this hardware is more than capable. I think there's an issue in the WoW engine itself because I still see it with all addons off and the same graphical settings.Sekkyo53 Oct 13

Although this machine continues to run optimally for current Legion content. I know we are in the minority, but it would be hopeful a workaround could be made for this issue if it is related to chipset usage. These machines are still very capable for World of Warcraft usage. If Blizzard chooses to bump requirements I agree, but I still would be hopeful to be able to still run the binary even with performance loss because of more modern requirements. First as a PSA, I wanted to know if Mac Pro users in the 3.1 and 4.1 Gen who used a High Sierra Patcher are running into this issue. Second is there a better way to report this so it can get noticed as the error code is definitely very specific. For conditions of the environment, note I had an older Beta install from Legion that I previously patched. However due to issues with the instant crash I reinstalled the Beta Client from scratch and ran into the same issue.Jareff22 Oct 9

Oct 7 Windowed fullscreen performance testing On the whole, I believe that 8.0 performance is superior to 7.3.5, which is fantastic, however, to try and pay credence to the frequently-repeated claims that 8.0 has reduced performance, I did a little testing, and have found that playing in Windowed Fullscreen mode suffers a pretty hefty performance penalty verses pure Windowed mode in specific situations. For reference, I’m running a 27” 2017 iMac 18,3 with the 4.2Ghz i7, 16GB RAM, Radeon Pro 580, and 1TB SSD, on 10.13.6. I play using the ‘7’ preset at 50% plus CMAA, with vsync AND triple buffering enabled (more on that at the bottom) Example. Running in Windowed mode, I sit here in the Boralus marketplace. CPU utilisation is low, GPU utilisation is around 80-90% according to Activity Monitor.app, and I’m getting a vsync-locked 60fps. If I CMD+M to switch to Fullscreen, my frame rate immediately becomes totally unstable, wildly varying from as low as 30, back up to 60 without any camera movement. The sort of fluctuation one would expect in a double buffered vsync situation, where frame times are fluctuating wildly between 33ms and 16ms. Moving around the marketplace continues this performance degradation, as performance pretty much flatlines at 30fps. However, this is where it gets weird. If you run Activity Monitor.app and display the CPU or GPU Usage graphs, these windows stay open on top if the “fullscreen” application, and in this instance the performance degradation does not occur. This performance issue occurs in other areas of the game; Boralus is just the easiest place for me to test. Disabling vsync appear to alleviate the performance loss in that frame rate does not wildly fluctuate down to 30fps, but not solve it entirely. Disabling triple buffering seems to have no discernible impact on performance, at least now in how I would expect the game to function with double buffered vsync. So, my question is, what is unique about how the game functions in Windowed Fullscreen (verses Windowed) that could be causing this. Is Windowed Fullscreen not just literally a borderless window with the Apple menu and title bar hidden? And why does running another window over WoW alleviate the issue? Imgur links in my post seems to cause it to be deleted by the spam filter (which is stupid, what other free image host can I use?), however the post has also been made over on the Bug Reports forum.Incaely21 Oct 7
Oct 6 in game voice chat not working is anyone else having problems with the new BFA voice chat? my friend and i are trying to figure out why my computer only has "invalid device" in the drop down menus for the "output device" and "microphone device." he's on a windows machine and seems to be able to use the voice chat fine. he also has the little headphone icon next to our party in the voice chat channels window, and i do not.Erisani11 Oct 6
Oct 6 Late 2015 iMac, awful performance 27”, 4.0ghz i7, m390 graphics, 16gb of memory, 1tb fusion drive. Running at 50% render because 5k makes the game a PowerPoint presentation. Settings on 4 yields acceptable frames (40ish) but the moment a lot of activity occurs (spell effects, players loading, SMOKE EFFECTS RIP) things grind to a halt and I’ll see frame rates in the low teens. Is this to be expected or is something amiss with my gaming desk lamp?Steeltrap9 Oct 6
Oct 6 Clues to the Mystery of Mojave EDIT: SPREAD THE WORD! After trying everything I could think of, I simply went to windowed mode with the game,: I got virtually no frame-rate drops and now I can use mission control to open safari, use other programs ect. in Mojave without any issues whatsoever so far. The loading screens are still pretty slow but no more freezing!!!!! YES! :) spread the word! Now you can do ahead and read the rest of the main article I had written earlier--- -cheers ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After installing Mojave and making sure my addons are up to date and my game is up to date with any patches: These simple things seemed to help for my game play when I had a lot of game freezing and terrible loading screens: 1. I scanned and repaired my game via BAttleNEt 2. I ran a disk utility scan and repair of my hard-drive. 3. I stopped using my hot corners via Mission Control to switch from the game to a webpage, or any another desktop or other program: That is a sure way to freeeze the game at this point. I just open the game and play it and dont do anything else whole time i am on. 4. I entered /console worldPreloadNonCritical 0 when I first get into the game in the chat box. 5. I drank heavily and prayed to the Old Gods Seems to help. If these things don't work, go back to step 5 and repeat the step 5 process again as often as required. Please paste any other clues you have about to Mojave here in this thread. And hope that a Blue Poster throws down a comment of some decent technical information or any news from Blizzard about Mojave and the issues with Apple.Axiss10 Oct 6
Oct 6 Help replacing old MBP? I posted this on the Gaming/Hardware forum yesterday and got some good responses, but mostly giving me information about what NOT Mac to get. Good to know, but I could use more Mac info! My mid-2012 15" Retina MacBook Pro is nearing the end of its life, and I will be replacing with it another Mac (though I know they're not ideal for gaming). I use my laptop for normal internet things, minor video editing from time to time, and WoW. Spent like $2800 on it back in 2012 when I was going to college, so it was a decent machine and lasted a while. I've been playing WoW at like, absolute lowest settings for a while now though, so anything is likely to be better... Between a MacBook, a 13" Pro, and a 15" Pro, which may be the best balance of quality, price, and longevity? What specs would you find worth the expense, or would make it a viable system for WoW longer? I'm a pretty casual player, so I don't need anything crazy. Thanks!Trittik4 Oct 6
Oct 4 All servers Incompatible I'm on an iMac, my game version is 8.0.1 (27602) and when I try to log in it says all servers are "Incompatible". I have run the launched a few times and still don't get a download but at the very bottom of that window it says "Game is running. An update is available and will be applied when the game closes." What up? Did someone forget to give us the Mac version of the patch to download?Peapöd5 Oct 4
Oct 4 IOC buggy especially cannons and vehicles Since the new patch IoC has been really laggy but the worst is when I jump on a cannon or vehicle. On a cannon sometimes it just won't fire or I can't get a target marker and have difficulty moving the gun around. Sometimes I can't exit the cannon because the exit button pops up in way that makes me open my bag instead. On the vehicles I can't see the damage and again sometimes it won't fire. On the glaives sometimes it will go all the way to the top when it fires. Of course a better solution overall would be just to scrap that lousy BG.Venter0 Oct 4
Oct 4 Battle.net says "Game is Running" "Game is running. AN update is available and will be applied when the game closes." So I can't update my game. This has started since the first pre-patch. For some reason Battle.net app is launching "Agent" in the background and it shows up in Activity Monitor app. When I force quit "Agent", the Battle.net app starts to update, launches "Agent" again and stop updating. For the love of god Blizz, please fix this! I don't mind all the bone-head bugs, like not being able to pet battle ANY npc in WoD, but not launching the game seems like a pretty derp bug not to have fixed by now. Fixes tried: Deleted app, cleared out caches, restarted computer, deleted trash, then downloaded a new version. Still triggering "Agent" in Activity Monitor.Detheal5 Oct 4
