Dec 27 [PvE Guide] Destruction in Legion 7.3.2 Introduction Hedo is switching mains in Legion, so I'm going to take up maintaining a Destruction guide, compiling theorycrafting information into one place to build an informative PvE reference. Foreword This guide will be an iterative work on my part, so there will need to be revisions as time goes on and more players figure things out/perfect sims for theroycrafting. Feel free to point out anything you feel isn't accurate, especially if you've got any sources to show as much, as well as anything that might be missing from this guide. [Anything in square brackets is either super WIP, needs confirmation or more info]. Table of Contents 1 - Legion Changes 1. Soul Shards 2. The Scepter of Sargeras2 - Stats and Gearing 1. For example, if you wanted to find the section on Artifact Traits, you would search "3-2". ...Destruction has seen a few baseline changes worth mentioning before delving into the rest of the guide. Most of this will be touched on in more detail in the Rotation section. 1-1 Soul Shards and Soul Shard Fragments Burning Embers have returned. Sort of. As of 7.2.5, Soul Shards for Destruction have been broken down into 10 Soul Shard Fragments each. Our Fragment generators are: Incinerate, generating 2 Fragments and an additional Fragment on a crit. Immolate, having a 50% change to generate a Fragment. This is guaranteed on a crit. Conflagrate, generating 5 Fragments. Our Shard spenders are still Chaos Bolt and Rain of Fire, costing 2 and 3 Soul Shards respectively. 1-2 The Scepter of Sargeras We no longer have weapon drops in Legion, but we have a spec specific Artifact weapon: The Scepter of Sargeras. This staff serves as our character progression throughout the max level experience in Legion, providing a number of Traits ranging from a new ability, Dimensional Rift, to increases in damage to several spells (See section 3 for more details). Throughout Legion, you'll earn Artifact Power and Artifact Knowledge, which increases Artifact Power drops for that character, that can be used to gain Traits. There are also hidden effects that the Artifact has. A list of all know hidden and PvE relevant effects can be found below... when some are discovered. ...2-1 Stats and How They Affect You Intellect: Increases your Spell Power at a rate of 1 Int = 1 SP. Spell Power increases the damage done by all of your spells.Critical Strike: Gives most of your spells a random chance to deal additional damage (around double in PvE). Increases the damage dealt by Chaos Bolt at flat rate (eg. 20% Crit rating increases Choas Bolt's damage by 20%).Haste: Reduces the cast time of all your spells. Increases the rate at which Damage over Time spells (Immolate) tick. Reduces the cooldown of Conflagrate charges.Mastery: Causes your spells to deal X% increased damage, plus up to X% extra damage. Causes damage you take to be reduced by Y%, plus up to Y% extra damage reduction. Y is roughly one fifth of X.Versatility: Increases all damage and healing done by a percentage. Reduces the damage taken by half of the above percentage.Multistrike...? Multistrike has been removed in Legion and has been replaced by another stat on old gear. 2-2 Racial Bonuses Alliance Dwarf: Might of the Mountain - Increases your critical strike damage/healing by 2%. Gnome: Nimble Fingers - Increases haste by 1%. Human: The Human Spirit - Increases all secondary stats by 2% from all sources. Worgen: Viciousness - Increases critical strike chance by 1%. Horde Blood Elf: Arcane Acuity - Increases critical strike chance by 1%. Goblin: Time is Money - Increases haste by 1%. Orc: Blood Fury - Increases your Spell/Attack power by 2243 (at level 110) for 15 seconds. 2 minute cooldown. Troll: Berserking - Increases your haste by 15% for 10 seconds. Undead: Touch of the Grave - Your spells have a small chance to deal extra damage to the target, healing you for the same amount. 2-3 Tier Bonuses, Legendaries and Other Notable Items Order Hall Set - Vestments of The Black Harvest This is a set of ilvl 810+ gear earned through your Class Hall campaign. These pieces of gear can be upgraded to 840, except shoulders which are ilvl 850. 2 Piece - Increase your out-of-combat regeneration in outdoor Broken Isles zones. 4 Piece - While you are below 35% health you take 50% reduced damage in outdoor Broken Isles zones. 6 Piece - Intellect increased by 500. 8 Piece - Spending a Soul Shard has a chance to increase your Mastery by 2000 for 12 seconds. The Arcway and Court of Stars Sets In the Mythic-only dungeons, The Arcway and Court of Stars, there are several 2 piece sets; one for each armour type and two for every class/spec. Journey Through Time - Trinket and Neck: The effect from Chrono Shard (trinket proc) now increases your movement speed by 30% and grants an additional 1000 Haste. March of the Legion - Neck and Finger: Your spells and abilities have a chance to deal an additional 27200 to 36800 Fire damage. Nightwell Arcanum - Head and Shoulders: Your spells have a chance to increase your Haste by 3000 for 15 seconds. Tier 19 Set - Legacy of Azj'Aqir 2 Piece - Casting Chaos Bolt reduces the cast time of your next Chaos Bolt by 40% for 4 seconds. 4 Piece - Conflagrate gains an additional charge and its charge cooldown is reduced by 3 seconds. Tier 20 Set - Diabolic Raiment 2 Piece - Incinerate generates one additional Soul Shard Fragment. 4 Piece - Chaos Bolt now always gains maximum benefit from Mastery: Chaotic Energies. Legendaries In Legion, Legendary items have been introduced as world drops, giving you a bonus similar to Epic world drops of old. They can range from bonuses for any class, ranged, Warlocks or Destruction specifically. They currently drop from PvE bosses, World Quest Chests and PvP strongboxes. You will start only being able to equip one legendary at a time, increasing to two through your Order Hall research. Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus - Neck - All Classes: Every 30 seconds, gain an absorb shield for 25% of your max health. Sephuz's Secret - Finger - All Classes: Successfully applying a loss of control effect, interrupt or dispell grants you 70% increased movement speed and 25% Haste for 10 seconds. This effect may only occur once every 30 seconds. Kil'jaeden's Burning Wish - Trinket - DPS: Launch a vortex of destruction that seeks your current enemy. When it reaches the target, it explodes, dealing a critical strike to all enemies within 10 yds for 1121640 Fire damage. Norgannon's Foresight - Feet - Warlocks, Priests and Mages: Standing still for 8 seconds grants you Foresight, allowing you to cast while moving for 5 seconds. Soul of the Netherlord - Finger - Warlocks: (Destruction) You gain the Eradication talent The Master Harvester - Chest - Warlocks: Each Soul Shard you spend has a 6% (Destruction) change to grant you Soul Harvest for 8 seconds. Pillars of the Dark Portal - Legs - Warlocks: Demonic Gateway now casts instantly and you can use Demonic Gateways twice before triggering a cooldown. Alythess's Pyrogenics - Finger - Destruction: Enemies effected by your Rain of Fire take 10% increased damage from your Fire spells. Odr, Shawl of the Ymirjar - Back - Destruction: Enemies marked by your Havoc take 8% increased damage from your single target spells. Feretory of Souls - Waist - Destruction: Casting a damaging Fire spell has a 10% chance to generate a Soul Shard. Magistrike Restraints - Wrist - Destruction: Chaos Bolt has a 20% chance to strike an additional enemy within 30 yards. Lessons of Space-Time - Shoulders - Destruction: While you have a Dimensional Rift open, all your damage is increased by 10% 2-4 Stat Builds, Gems and Enchants These priorities will change based on Talent choices, Artifact progression and target counts. The priorities and enchants/gems suggested below will provide a good stat priority for most situations. Stat Priorities Generally: Intellect => Haste > Crit > Vers > Mastery For more accurate stat weights for your character, you should sim yourself. For more information you can read the following guide: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pW5mWY9nkfWoRCOHfoXqeeGb8s-jMoSVy-g8uveUv4c/preview#heading=h.3lsngyuiznm9 Note: If you invest heavily in mastery, you will experience swings in damage from fight to fight based on how lucky you are. If you would rather have a more consistent build, consider avoiding Mastery in favor of other stats Gems Currently, socketing Haste gems should be your priority. You may also have one Saber's Eye of Intellect in your equipped armour, but these are expensive, so socket these wisely. Enchants For Ring enchants, Haste should also be your priority. Cloak enchants are main stat, so use Intellect. Neck Enchant Mark of the Claw is currently our best neck enchant. Food, Flasks and Pots You should be using Haste food, Flask of the Whispered Pact and Potion of Deadly Grace or Potion of Prolonged Power (these are about neck and neck in performance, PP pulling ahead on multitarget). ...3-1 Talents Talents have been through a significant rework in Legion; there are many more Talents that effect your DPS throughput now and not in a "Pick Your Different Flavour of AoE/Single Target/Cleave Talent in this Row" structure either. As such, there are a lot of different set ups for a lot of different situations where you'd want to change talents; many different setups may even excel on a per Boss basis. My aim with this section is to provide an optimal pure ST build and the basis for a dungeon build, then examine each row to show why you would deviate or stay with the suggested Talents on each row. Talent Calculator: http://legion.wowhead.com/talent-calc/warlock/destruction Suggested ST Build Tier One: Backdraft Tier Two: Eradication Tier Three: Demonic Circle Tier Four: Soul Harvest Tier Five: Demon Skin or Dark Pact Tier Six: Grimoire of Service Tier Seven: Channel Demonfire Suggested Dungeon Build [This will likely go through several iterations soon] Tier One: Backdraft Tier Two: Eradication or Empowered Life Tap Tier Three: Shadowfury Tier Four: Cataclysm or Fire and Brimstone Tier Five: Burning Rush or Demon Skin Tier Six: Grimoire of Sacrifice Tier Seven: Any Tier One: Backdraft: Casting Conflagrate reduces the cast time of your next two Incinerate or Chaos Bolt casts by 30%. Roaring Blaze: Conflagrate increases your remaining Immolate damage on the target by 25% until Immolate is refreshed or expires. Shadowburn: Blasts a target for 316% Spell Power. Generates 5 Soul Shard Fragments plus an additional 5 if the target dies within 5 seconds. Replaces Conflagrate, 12 second CD.Discussion: Backdraft is your go-to for this tier. Roaring Blaze currently doesn't perform better than Backdraft in almost any scenario. Shadowburn is very niche and is only a good pick where you can get 2 shards incredibly consistently (basically every 12 seconds). Tier Two: Reverse Entropy: Chaos Bolt and Rain of Fire restore 35% of your maximum mana and their damage is increased by 10%. Eradication: Chaos Bolt increases damage dealt to the target by 15% for 7 seconds. Empowered Life Tap: Life Tap now grants you 10% increased damage for 20 seconds. This duration can pandemic (max 25 seconds when refreshed).Discussion: In single target and 2 target cleave, Eradication is your best choice; 3 or more targets and ELT performs better. Tier Three: Demonic Circle: Summons a Demonic Circle for 6 minutes, allowing you to teleport to its location and remove all movement slowing effects. Limit 1. 0.5 second cast. Mortal Coil: Horrifies an enemy target into fleeing, Incapcitating them for 3 seconds an healing your for 20% maximum health. You will be healed even if the target is not effected by the Horrify. Shadowfury: Stuns all enemies within 8 yards for 4 seconds. 1.5 second cast time. 30 second cooldown.Discussion: Demonic Circle is going to be your go-to for raids, unless you specifically require a stun. Shadowfury is good for dungeons, specifically in Mythic+. Mortal Coil's heal can be useful, but for the most part is too niche for general PvE use. Tier Four: Fire and Brimstone: Incinerate now hits all enemies near the target and generates 1 Soul Shard Fragment per target. Cataclysm: Conjures a cataclysm at the target location, dealing 750% Spell Power Shadowflame damage to all enemies within 8 yards and afflicts them with Immolate. 2.5 second cast. 30 second cooldown. Soul Harvest: Increases the damage of you and your pets by 20%. Lasts 12 seconds, increased by 4 seconds for each target afflicted by Immolate, up to a maximum of 36 seconds. Casting this does not incur a GCD.Discussion: Soul Harvest is your best choice for 1 and 2 targets. For 3+, both Cataclysm and FnB are good options, with Cataclysm being preferable for periodic adds and FnB better for constant cleave. Tier Five: Demon Skin: Your Soul Leech now recharges by 1% maximum health every second, and you may now absorb up to 20% maximum health. Burning Rush: Increases your movement speed by 50%, but also damages you for 4% of your maximum health every 1 sec. Movement impairing effects may not reduce you below 100% of normal movement speed. Lasts until cancelled. Dark Pact: Sacrifices 20% of your current demon's health to shield you for 400% of the sacrificed health for 20 seconds. If you have no demon active, your health is sacrificed instead. Usable while under control impairing effects.Discussion: You should use Demon Skin or Dark Pact in raids unless you need the movement speed of Burning Rush for a very important mechanic, but most of these can be handled similarly with Demonic Circle. Demon Skin gives the most value when incoming damage is frequent and Dark Pact will present the most value when damage is infrequent and very high (its also far stronger with GrimSac given it will use your Health Pool instead of your pets). In dungeons, Burning Rush is desirable when flying through easier dungeons (especially low M+), but you lose a fair amount of survivability, so use at your discretion. Tier Six: Grimoire of Supremacy: Doomguard and Infernal can now be used as permanent pets. Grimoire of Service: Summon a second demon for 25 seconds that deals 100% increased damage. 1.5 min cooldown. They will additionally perform their utility action on summon. Grimoire of Sacrifice: Sacrifice your current demon to gain Demonic Power, which causes your spells to sometimes deal 100% Spell Power Shadow damage to the target and enemies within 8 yards. Approx. 20 RPPM. Lasts 1 hour or until another permanent Demon pet is summoned.Discussion: Some important things to note about this tier: Sacrifice no longer gives you a spell on Command Demon, so choosing which demon to summon does not matter as this talent prevents you from using a pet's Command Demon ability without re-summoning. Also, Supremacy changes Lord of Flames to be activated on an Infernal's Meteor Strike ability (which you should turn off auto-cast to control when it is used). For 3 or more consistent targets, use Sacrifice. In ST, Service and Supremacy are neck and neck, with Supremacy just ahead. Service ends up being more practical for progression and burst. Tier Seven: Wreak Havoc: Havoc's cooldown is reduced by 20 seconds. Channel Demonfire: Launches 15 bolts of felfire over 3 seconds to random targets afflicted with Immolate. Each bolt deals 100% Spell Power Fire damage and dealing 50% Spell Power Fire damage to all nearby enemies. 25 second cooldown, reduced by haste. Soul Conduit: Each Soul Shard spent has a 15% chance to be refunded.Discussion: In ST, CDF is your best choice. Wreak Havoc should be used when there is 2 to 3 consistent priority targets. At 4 targets and above, SC could pull ahead, especially when coupled with FnB. 3-2 Artifact Traits Artifact Calculator: http://legion.wowhead.com/artifact-calc/warlock/destruction/AqSCImA Active Ability - Dimensional Rift The first trait you receive with the Scepter is Dimensional Rift. This is an instant cast spell with 3 charges and a 45 second cooldown. This spell will open one of three rifts, chosen randomly, to deal damage to your current target, additionally generating 3 Soul Shard Fragments. This can be in the form of a huge chunk of Fel (Chaos Tear), a rapid fire succession of Shadowfel bolts (Unstable Tear) or a slower slew of Shadow bolts (Shadowy Tear). These currently appear to not have infinite range and will cease dealing damage if their target moves out of their range. Use of this ability will be covered more in the Rotations section. Golden Traits Dimension Ripper: Incinerate has a 5% chance to grant a charge of Dimensional Rift. Lord of Flames: Once every 10 minutes, your Summon Infernal (Infernal's Meteor Strike with GrimSup) summons 3 extra Infernals for 25 seconds. Conflagration of Chaos: Conflagration has a 50% chance to guarantee your next Conflagrate critically strikes, and to increase its damage by your critcal strike chance. Flame Rift: (7.2 Trait) Dimensional Rift can now summon a powerful Flame Rift, casting Searing Bolt 20 times over ~8 seconds. Searing Bolt deals 100% Spell Power Fire damage and an additional 140% Spell Power Fire damage over 20 seconds, stacking up to 20 times. Other interesting Traits Soul Snatcher: Chaos Bolt has a 3% (+3% for each addition level) to refund 1 Soul Shard. Demonic Durability: Reduces the cooldown of your Unending Resolve by 30 seconds. Eternal Struggle: After casting Life Tap, you take 3% (+3% with each level) less damage for 6 seconds Planeswalker: Transporting through your Demonic Gateway increases your movement speed by 30% for 6 seconds. Cry Havoc: (7.2 Trait) When Chaos Bolt strikes a target marked with Havoc, it explodes dealing 100% Spell Power damage to nearby enemies. Golden Trait Shortest Paths Getting to each Golden Trait the cheapest way possible is rather simple with the Scepter. The following are the shortest paths to each starting from Flames of the Pit (the trait immediately following Dimensional Rift). Flames of the Pit --> Devourer of Life --> Residual Flames --> Conflagration of Chaos Flames of the Pit ---> Eternal Struggle ---> Burning Hunger ---> Lord of Flames Flames of the Pit ---> Master of Disaster OR Fire From The Sky ---> Demonic Durability ---> Fire and Flames OR Soulsnatcher ---> Chaotic Instability ---> Dimension Ripper Following these paths in any order will not increase the total amount of Artifact Power you need to unlock all 3 as quick as possible so long as you only get one of the two traits in both forks in the Dimension Ripper path. Suggested Trait Path To get the most out of your early Artifact Traits, you should look to get Impish Incineration (Lord of Flames path, detour after Eternal Struggle), then Lord of Flames, then Conflagration of Chaos, and lastly Dimension Ripper before filling out the rest of the Artifact. For those looking to min-max their path: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/146682707756187658/214946089294364682/ARTIFACTFINISHFINISH.png 7.2 Suggested Trait Path After you reach the Broken Shore for the second time and have 35 Artifact traits, you will soon unlock a new set of Traits as well as a 4th rank in all 3 rank traits. Once you unlock these, its suggested you get all the new Traits first, then the 4th ranks in older Traits in the same order as your Relic priorities. 3-3 Artifact Relics Artifact Relics are drops from the world, dungeon bosses and raids that enhance your artifact in two ways. They provide an item level boost to your Scepter, increasing its stats. Relics also add a rank to one of the traits in your Artifact that have multiple ranks, further increasing the benefit they provide. You will start with 2 Relic slots and unlock a 3rd by completing your Class Order Campaign. Selection of which relics to use will mostly come down to ilevel when leveling, so prioritise higher ilevel relics until you can be picky about the traits the relics buff. Relic sims can be found here: http://lockonestopshop.com/#!/Destruction/Sims/Relic 3-4 What about Glyphs? The glyph system has been reworked and Major Glyphs have been removed; all glyphs are now cosmetic only.Aldeen283 Dec 27

Sep 20 [7.0 Guide] to Logging (the only proven +DPS) Introduction Due to the recent patch and the changes that Warlocks, among other classes, have undergone, people are now more than ever concerned about how they are performing. I believe that the best way to evaluate performance is in evaluating your logs--and, without knowledge of how to analyze logs, or how to log, that's impossible. This guide should cover those sufficiently and allow interested players to improve their performance, or, if they would prefer, ask for help. Foreword Please feel welcome to dispute anything posted. I am very dedicated to making an accurate guide that keeps up with all the newest theorycrafting, and to that extent, I will be doing my best to keep up with recent information--but nobody is perfect. Table of Contents 1 - How to Log-1: WarcraftLogs -2: Downloading/Running Logs -3: Known Bugs 2 - Guide to Reading Logs-1: The Interface -2: The Tabs 3 - How to Evaluate Performance Using Logs-1: Basics -2: Destruction -3: Affliction -4: Demonology 4 - Conclusion-1: Afterword -2: Help with Evaluation Guide to Navigating the Thread: If you want to jump to a specific section in the thread, use Ctrl-F and type in the section number, then a dash, then the subsection number. For example, if I wanted to jump to the Known Bugs section, which is in Section 1, and is Subsection 3, I'd type "1-3" into Ctrl-F! ... 1-1: WarcraftLogs WarcraftLogs (https://www.warcraftlogs.com/) is a World of Warcraft fansite dedicated to hosting interactive combat logs and fight rankings for current and past raids in WoW. It is commonly used, to great effect, to evaluate how well someone is performing compared to other players of their spec and to optimal play. By the end of this guide, it is my belief that you will both understand how to evaluate logs and why we evaluate logs. -Why Warcraft Logs? Warcraft Logs is a lot more user-friendly and in-depth than World of Logs--not to mention that its developers (who I am wholly unrelated to) are continuing to update and build on its foundation, where World of Logs, to my knowledge, is remaining stagnant. 1-2: Downloading/Setting Up the Logs Client The WarcraftLogs website is fairly self-explanatory with regards to setting up the client, but in any guide for log analysis must be a guide for actually logging. I've broken it down into a 3 step system. 1: Go to https://www.warcraftlogs.com/ 2: Find this [ http://puu.sh/dxBDb/3fed32d7d1.png ] section--it's in the upper right-hand corner of the home screen. Click "Sign Up," and make an account! 3: Now that you're logged in, go to where you clicked "Sign Up"--your username will have replaced that option! Click your username, and a dropdown menu will appear. Select "Download Client" and install it! Then, start the client on your computer while playing WoW. This window should appear: [ http://puu.sh/dTL5x/25b02f7b54.jpg ] From there, hit Live Log, and you'll arrive at this screen: [ http://puu.sh/dTLcR/ad07786613.jpg ] Then, if you wish, you can select what page to record your logs on (the default, as you can see, is Personal Logs), and click go! Then, all you need to do is enter World of Warcraft, enter "/combatlog" and raid! All the combat you're doing is now being recorded in real time to Warcraft Logs, where it can be analyzed. When you're done, simply type "/combatlog" again in-game to stop recording combat logs, and click "Stop" on the client! Advanced Combat Logging: In game, to enable Advanced Combat Logging, access the main menu (usually by clicking escape), select System, select Network, and check the boss for Advanced Combat Logging. 1-3: Known Bugs Sometimes, when attempting to log, the client will record nothing, or state "Error - Bad Line". While this is not intended, it is more common than isolated--it can be fixed by simply restarting logs. ... 2-1: The Interface The WarcraftLogs interface is intuitive and user-friendly. An example of a log is one of my Personal Logs, found at [ http://tinyurl.com/k66hywk ]. I will be using this log for the purposes of demonstration throughout this guide. [ http://puu.sh/dxCDv/bb44cf32ef.png ] The image above is what you will first see when reading a log. The first page it shows you (the one shown) is a summary of the various measures of performance recorded by the service. Each of the different tabs (Damage Done, Damage Taken, Healing) will take you to a page that details each individual type of performance. These will be covered in the following section. The Graph The Graph can be manipulated and modified to display only certain data--whether you wish to focus on a specific player, a specific damaging mechanic, or a specific portion of the fight. To access a specific portion, simply click and drag from one end of the graph you'd like to observe to the other--it'll automatically display only the information from that slice of the graph. To display a specific player or mechanic, simply select that option from one of the tables below the graph. The Options The options, located in the upper left hand of your screen, will look similar to these [ http://puu.sh/dxD8d/4b43537a58.jpg ]. Each of the selections (The Butcher, All Friendlies, etc.) have a small arrow to their right--indicating the presence of a dropdown menu. You can select these to choose which boss you would like to observe (selecting The Butcher, in this case), which kill of that boss (if there is more than one in a log), or which player/enemy you would like to observe (selecting "All Friendlies" in this case). Views Located just below the graph are three tabs: Tables View, Events View, and Fight Analysis. Tables View provides the standard table of values--useful in other sections for viewing uptimes, percentages, and other numeric values. Events View simply lists each combat log event by time, useful for determining specific cast orders or time between events. [ http://puu.sh/dxDDd/b792b43c05.png ] Fight Analysis is a handy, automatic, mechanics analysis of the fight. It's useful for determining who caused wipes, or what went wrong on a kill. 2-2: The Tabs Damage Done: This is likely your primary tab of interest. When evaluating warlock DPS, it is one of the main two tabs that you will actually be interested in. When you click this tab, it will default to taking you to a screen similar to the summary--a graph, with a tables view of Damage Done and DPS beneath it. [ http://puu.sh/dxDS9/076101ed08.png ] From here, you can observe how your DPS is compared to the rest of your raid for the fight. However, for evaluation, we must look at the specifics. From there, you would click on your name from the tables view--which would take you to a tables view of your abilities used and damaging effects. [ http://puu.sh/dxE0m/b583e10694.png ] Damage Taken This tab is similar in nature to Damage Done, but displays Damage Taken instead. You can use it to determine uptimes of damaging debuffs and other effects in the same manner you would with Damage Done. It is, however, not entirely relevant to evaluating Warlock DPS (very useful to determine who's draining your healers' mana, though!) Healing This tab is similar to both Damage Done and Damage Taken, but again, deals with healing and healing buffs instead. Useful to determine how much you're healing for with self-heals, but not relevant to DPS. Buffs For Warlock DPS analysis, the Buffs tab will be fairly invaluable. It is a graph -- which is less interesting than the preeceeding tabs' graphs -- and a table containing the uptimes of Damage, Defensive, Healing, Movement, and Raid buffs, in addition to stances and unknown buffs. The reason it's important to Warlocks is not to determine if someone had buffs--but to determine how they're reacting to Trinket Procs, using Dark Soul, using their potions, or even Fire and Brimstone in some situations. If you click on a particular player, it will take you to a screen similar to this one: [ http://puu.sh/dxEIj/ae75429356.png ] Debuffs This tab is less important than the others in terms of DPS analysis, but functions similarly to buffs--but with debuffs. Deaths This tab simply displays deaths and the time leading to those deaths--it can be invaluable in determining who is at fault for a given death. Interrupts This tab displays all interrupts used and can be used to fix issues in interrupt orders in raids. Dispels This tab displays dispells and can be used to determine which player is dispelling the most, or if someone dispelled something they were not meant to. Works for both Offensive and Healer dispells. Resources This tab allows you to view resource expenditure/generation over a fight. It can be used for Demonic Fury, Burning Embers, and Soul Shards and displays raw gain, wasted amount, and net gain. Casts This tab displays number of casts, time spent casting, et cetera. It's especially useful to assist in correcting an opening sequence or observing a particular set of casts (such as a Hand of Gul'dan 2-stacking mishap). Summons Shows all pet, minion, guardian, and demon summons throughout a fight. Replay This feature can show the positioning of players throughout a given fight provided the logging player is using "advanced combat logging," an option found in-game. ... 3-1: The Basics Before you evaluate each given spec, it's helpful to know what kind of things you're going to be looking for. -DoT/Debuff Uptimes: You are going to be looking through the Damage Done section of a Warlock's spellcasts, looking for Damage over Time or other debuffs effects such as Immolate, Corruption, Haunt or Doom. Different DoTs or Debuffs will call for different uptimes. An example: [ http://puu.sh/dxGe8/43d53f1d91.png ] -Cast Ratios: You may also be looking for ratios of one spells' casts to another. This can be done very easily by looking at the casts column and checking numbers. An example: [ http://puu.sh/dxGkX/81bd70a89b.png ] -Buff Usage: All specs have some degree of resource pooling for certain procs or cooldowns. You will be comparing the amount of certain buffs cast, such as Dark Soul or on-use trinkets, the times that randomly proccing trinkets activate, and more to determine how effectively someone is using their spells. An example: [ http://puu.sh/dxGsY/f960820817.png ] WAITING FOR 7.2.5, WILL UPDATE SOON! ... 4-1: Afterword I am not the best Warlock, and I accept this--however, I am passionate about this class, and intend to go forward in WoD with stronger progression and theorycrafting than before. I especially hope that I can help new or returning Warlocks--or even experienced Warlocks who want to brush up on their play--improve and perform better as time goes forward. 4-2: Help with Evaluation If you'd like for a more experienced Warlock to look over your logs and provide their insight, simply post a link to the logs and some basic background information in the thread below. There is a great number of experienced, skilled, and helpful Warlocks around who enjoy doing just that!Hedo109 Sep 20

36s Rate your warlock satisfaction in Legion Rate your warlock satisfaction in Legion from 1 to 10, being 1 the lowest satistaction, and 10 the most satisfaction, also the reason why you feel that way. Personally i rate warlocks with a 3 of satisfaction, my reason is that since the start of legion warlocks have a lot of problems with mobility and ramp up time for damage, you just need to remember at the start of legion that warlocks that apply to a random group were rejected almost every time cause the lack of damage. Also the class mechanic satisfaction in the rotation is not there, i wish blizzard address this issues in the incoming expansion. Also another thing that make me dissapointed is the constant nerf to the class due to bad design, it really doesnt make you feel great.Ojoverde49 36s
2m 7.3.5 Casting Animations? I'm not sure why no one is asking this (guess no one really cares?) but, is there going to be new casting animations in 7.3.5 for locks? I'd love to jump back on my lock if so but if not, i'd rather just play another caster who isn't just standing there while the other classes are showing off those sweet animations.Knoki6 2m

1h Really confused, Affliction AoE Hi all, I hope you're all doing well! I am seeking some help. I am incredibly confused regarding what to prioritize/do during AoE situations with 3+ targets. Such as Mythic + trash or raid mobs. I can't seem to figure out how to increase my lackluster damage in AoE situations, and it's somewhat infuriating me lol. I am running Malefic Grip, Contagion, Soul Harvest, and Soul Conduit. Any assistance would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks fellow locks! Also, for the record, my armory is not accurate. Hasn't updated in forever.Diaval4 1h
1h Affliction DPS low?? Hello all, This is my first post on the forums so I'm a little lost. I've always enjoyed Affliction in the past but for some reason I'm falling behind on the DPS charts. I'm trying to get into the raid scene but pulling an average 550k DPS as an ilvl 930 is not helping my goal. I use icy veins as a guideline for rotations and talents. I'm also working on getting enchants and sockets to optimize my stats(I've simmed my character on Mr. Robot for stat weights). So my question is, am I doing something wrong? Is the low DPS really just stat dependent? I will give any additional info to make this easier.Novex8 1h
1h Aff.: Your Stat %'s for Highest DPS Long story short, I am not new to affliction nor the Warlock class. I have been playing thoroughly throughout Legion, but came late into Antorus due to being burnt out. That being said a I fell a few weeks behind and came into the raid late. I have also been struggling without the BiS trinkets (just got kin'garoth trink last night) but still nothing for the pantheon trinket. I still believe I am performing decently but my expectations are set high as I performed exceptionally well during ToS. What I am trying to figure out is the best percentages of each stat to utilize the most of my dps. My main concern is single target. I came into Garothi late with the old 4 piece / nighthold 2 piece and parsed a 99. At the time I was still rocking the conduit build opposed to SL, and had a strong burst macro. Now about a month and 20 ilvls later, my single target always falls a considerable amount under that initial parse. I got the new 4 piece, upped my stats, and specced into SL over conduit. Now although my DPS seems more "steady" it always appears to average out around 1.6-2 mil (2mil being if all goes well and procs correctly). These were numbers I was able to achieve with the old tier set, build, and legendary combo ( belt / soul ring). I try and use at least 23% crit, 29-30% haste, and 110-115% mastery. Anything above 29% haste decreases your agony / corruption tick time by .01 sec. You think this would effect soul shard generation, but for some reason it's still incredibly slow. Some fights I only get one shard / 1 reap soul tick per drain cycle. That's absurd. So two questions: Are any others experiencing terrible single target shard / reap soul generation? Is there increase to stats that can increase this or it's strictly RNG? So what stats do you prioritize for single / mutli target, and what exact percentages?Blowingbolts4 1h

2h looking for m+ dps tips looking for tips for pushing my dps higher in m+ in the 15-19+ range. currently pushing around 2.2-2.4 overall in most instances with 2.2-2.7(depending on rng)mil average on bosses but struggling with improving dps on trash and keeping up with some dps that are able to deal 3mil+ easy on every trash pull currently running MG/Cont/Seeds/burningrush/Suprem/soul conduit swapping between netherlord/belt/prydaz depending on each pull and running 4pT21/2pT20 for both bosses and trash when using prydaz I generally use netherlord with it for trash and belt with it for bosses mostly looking for tips on possible diff legendary setups I could try out for trash mobs to improve my overall dps.Twistedshade13 2h
2h Affliction getting buff in 7.3.5? The patch notes says our shadow bolt damage is increased by 100%. I never knew this was even a spell for our spec. 2h sick of OP warlocks in bgs i guess once again after 13 years of wow blizz still has no idea how to balance warlocks. i mean seriously so someone sat down at a computer and said. "lets give them a 1.5 mil shield with another 150k every 2 sec, a spamable fear, all instant cast dots, and then drain soul will heal them as it does damage ontop of my damage/heal dot plus my 150k shield, and there." oh and just for good measure lets give them spell reflect. I dont see the point of a "caster class" that doesnt have to cast anything. they need to give more malee classes a silence.Skórri52 2h

4h Affliction Shard Gen and Spender We really need to talk about that. I want to know if another Shard spender would be a bad thing for Aff. The best example it's the old Haunt, it was nice, powerfull AND was a shard spender, making the spec feel a little better (my opinion) than just spam UA or Seed. I can't see a reason to not add a spell with a shard cost, a damage increase and a decent cooldown (because Aff doesn't have a single spell with a nice damage and cooldown), making the rotation less boring/dead. And if they do that, they can try a different way to generate shards, changing the actual (and bad) shard gen system to a reliable source with a EXTERNAL proc chance. It's just annoying see most of the specs having a combo/shard generator and a proc chance from another source (to make things fluid faster/more effective and wasting less resources) while we need to lose dps to not waste a resource in a tinket proc/reap time/hero or use like crazy and go top meters. If the excuse for the actual shard system is that we can't have our UA's whenever we want (since it's a really powerfull DoT), adding a cooldown spell with a shard cost and change how UA works today, can open a possibility of shard generator spell and beyond. For me, making UA cost 2 shards, hit harder (specially if dispelled, please) with a limit of stacks (maybe 3 UA's) and adding both a Shard spender (1 or more) and a shard generator would make BfA even better than it looks now.Trpologonina3 4h

18h Reap uptime, a question and tips? I've been working at the lock for the past month or two since re-subbing and focusing on her as a main- playing more destro than affliciton as I was performing better in that (probably due to just being less awful and misusing less abilities). I've been trying to focus and learn affliction more the past couple of weeks. While my numbers are pulling closer I'm still inconsistent in M+ and raid bosses and one of the areas I'm pretty confident I need a lot of work on is reap uptime. I've got 2 questions w.r.t. reap: 1.) How would I go about reviewing and tracking to see what sort of reap uptime I'm getting in fights (particularly for raid fights which are more drawn out and I need to be reaping throughout). I'd like to be able to get better at looking back and reviewing what my uptime is like so I have hard numbers to judge myself against (I'm sure some situations my uptime is shamefully low). In M+ would I be able to look in logs and see what my reap uptime was for the overall time spent in combat throughout the dungeon? 2.) What are some of the decision factors as to when/at how many souls do you reap? In M+ or raid fights with repeated add waves I make an effort to reap once i've gotten dots out/etc as killing those adds will help quickly refill my souls in addition to whatever i get from draining and RNG I figure should be pushing me to reap more aggressively throughout the fight.Locksalts2 18h

21h Mythic+ bug. So, as demonology while doing a few Mythic + last night, I noticed a 3% drop in haste while within the instance. Then when out of the instance I went back up to normal. This occurred in two instances back to back, I'm not sure if it's a UI bug or not, as I forgot I could look at the actual spells to check it's cast time to see if a real change occurred. Anybody else notice this?Revlol1 21h
22h No casting shadowbolt? While beating on the target dummy a fellow warlock informed me that i should never hard cast shadow bolt as demo. Instead empowerment is the filler, and you only throw shadowbolt from instant cast procs. I can't say it doesn't make sense as DE is faster cast time, has a 65% chance to make a shard and makes the next shadowbolt instant. Should I only ever be casting empowerment as a shard generator and never shadowbolt?Jovanabin2 22h
23h Unpopular Opinion:Demonology Throughout my play through of Legion I have found it to be the most intense and effort consuming spec to play for Warlock, thus making it The most fun. The other alternatives [namely Affliction] feel very boring and easy.Thaenlan12 23h
1d a few changes and explanations. All spec changes All warlocks gets 20% to 30% increase varsity or so to start off with. Give all warlocks row 75 or divide it between them for example you can give demon [demon skin] and the other talents to other spec that best suit its need and best fix that class description and also make it so that [burning rush] is only for destro but change it so it increase his movement speed by 100% for 5 to 8s and he can also cast anything while using it. Something like that and you can also bring back [dark bargain] [dark regeneration] and other talents and go on but divide it up between each of the spec and make sure it goes into the spec that it best fits and that it needs it to. For example if you give dark pact to everyone you can make dark pack gives a 100% but sacrifice 5% and other spec has it 400% something like that. Like destro can use [dark bargain] but add onto it so you can't be silent or kick or interrupted when casting so it can be really useful or… Destro new talent and maybe demo allows you to cast certain spells while moving or 8s cast anything you want. Now all your pets can’t die instead before they die they take a knee and heal to 100% hp but it takes them 10-30s if it’s to long just summon him again and when your pet is healing soul link goes off Ok giving away talents may be a bad idea but you can nerf those ability’s so it is an benefit to warlocks and some spec will have it weak or powerful like dark packed demo can have a weak version of it while destro has a strong version of it. It depends on if the spec needs it badly or not. I believe they should bring back some old abilities and talents and give them back or give them to certain specs. all warlocks now have [soul link] and maybe [demon skin] both [grimoire of supremacy] and [grimoire of sacrifice] are gone destro main pet is now an infernal instead of a !@#$ty imp. infernal when he burn nearby enemies he also puts a burning dot on them also. infernal gets 2 news ability's one is that the infernal cast a quick bolt at the target silent the target and other one is to cleans all bleeds, poisons, diseases and some magic dots and can not only do it to the lock but maybe other players but he deals 5% of your total hp as damage to you but over 10 to 20s you heal for 10% hp. aff main pet is now an doomguard instead of a %^-*ty dread stalker. doom guard applies doom and other dots to the target and also cripple reduces healing by 10% or so and their new ability stuns one target for 5s demo pet is wrathguard. they have the same abilities but their bigger and meaner their new ability makes them shoot a laser beam from their eyes to the target interrupting them and some more abilities.Arexionah58 1d

1d Nether Ward vs. Karma Can nether ward reflect touch of karma? I've been told this is the case but haven't had a chance to test it. 1d Demo and lifetap Can we just get like, every critical strike our pets land give us 1.5% mana or something. Maybe take life tap off the gcd and give it a 3 second cooldown? It's really the worst part of the spec, and I don't even think that badly of DE, I just treat it as a filler just for the ascendance damage, I don't even keep track of what's empowered cause this spell is used so much I don't need to worry about it. But the mana tho.Revlol9 1d

1d How to make Demo fun without a huge rework. Hi, I'm Keeby! I've been playing warlock for every expansion since Vanilla (I'm one of those guys) First of ALL, in my personal opinion, demonology was at its best during Mist of Pandaria. The molten core mechanic was my favorite part of the spec, and with its removal with Metamorphasis is what killed the spec for me. I understand that the devs are wanting more spec diversity, and that they want Demonology to be about summoning demons and empowering them. I just feel that it was poorly executed, and rushed without really considering all possibilities and philosophies. Demonology to me was in between the shadowy Affliction and the firey Destruction spec. It was the medium of being a Warlock. Molten Core set Demonology apart because it had a real execute phase, and when it proc'd before 35% it gave you the satisfaction and alertness of playing the spec. Whereas, in the current status Demonology, you feel like you're trying to keep up with your demons being summoned, ensuring that they're empowered immediately after, and trying to maximize your Thal'Kiels. WeakAuras is 100% mandatory in having to play Demo effectively, otherwise you're shooting yourself in the foot by playing it. Demonology can still be about summoning demons, but empowering them feels underwhelming for how little of a duration they last. I believe the best way to handle the spec going forward into BfA is: Remove Demonic Empowerment Why? - Demons last too little and costs too much Mana for Demonic Empowerment to feel impactful. Make it a passive. If I recall correctly, they wanted us to make DE a resource we managed to maximize the damage our summoned demons did. With there not being an implemented way of tracking your DE or even the amount of summoned demons you just feel lost and overwhelmed. Bring back Molten Core and Soul Fire With the idea of removing Demonic Empowerment, you're removing a pressable ability, so bring back Soul Fire as your soul shard dump. Related to Chaos Bolt for Destruction, Soul Fire can be a 1 shard cost dump for Demonology with Molten Core removing the cost and increasing the cast speed of Soul Fire by 50% when your imps deal damage to the target. Molten Core was extremely interactive, and with how rewarding Fire for mages feels when you get a Hot Streak! proc.. Molten Core can give that rewarding feeling of your summoned demons doing damage. Remove the soul shard cost for Hand of Guldan and add a cooldown. With the implementation of Molten Core returning to the spec, Hand of Gul'dan can go back to being cooldown based it once was in Mist of Pandaria. It should interact the same way it does today, by on impact, summoning 4 Wild Imps with a chance of it's cooldown resetting on Molten Core use. Wild Imps should last for 18-30 seconds with a maximum of 8-12 Wild Imps being out. If you're at your maximum amount of Wild Imps being out, it should reset the duration of your imps being out that way it doesn't interrupt their cast if they are nearing their death, and makes it feel more fluid. Doom procs twice and double it's duration. It's current version feels extremely underwhelming. It's awkward to keep up because you're so busy managing all your other resources that you sometimes forget to reapply it. By doubling the duration and allowing it to proc twice, you have the gap in time to notice it doing damage, and gives you a breath of air to use your other abilities without having to worry about it. Demonwrath Rework: The current version of Demonwrath is too clunky because you can't control the location of your demons other than your Felguard. This gives us that control. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of utilizing the wrath of demons at my will is their spirit itself. If you think of the animation of Spirit Barrage in Diablo 2 from Witch Doctors. While channeling it siphons the very spirit of the demon, reducing their health by 10% per tick with the capability of killing them and barraging the enemies around them with shadow damage. If it kills the demon it does additional shadow damage around the demon that died. The fact that the demons can die, gives utilization to the Wild Imp cap and ability reset, so you're able to use multiple abilities when AoEing rather than setting it and forgetting it. I hope you guys enjoyed my pitch on a new Demonology while keeping it's fantasy alive. We can still be MASTERS of Demons. #BringMoltenCoreBack P.S. No changes should be made to Call Dreadstalkers. It's perfect where it's at. :DKeeby28 1d
2d Soul Shard Glyphs viewable by other players? I read on wowhead that only the player can see the different shards, is that still the case?Tzteosh3 2d
2d Wrathguard Visual Issue Since I logged on today, my Wrathguard has had a weird visual bug. It always seems to be in a constant state of taking damage. Though it isn't actually taking real damage, the visual of it happening keeps happening. The wrathguard reels back as if it was getting hit, a damage sound plays, and a weird jet of fire appears from the ground. Other players have noticed it too on my wrathguard, so it isn't just a client side issue. I've tried dismissing and resummoning the pet, and have even logged out of the game. When I log back in, the pet is still having this issue. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, did you figure out a way to solve it? Update: Even removing the Wrathguard glyph didn't solve the issue. After removing the glyph, the regular Felguard didn't have any issues. But, as soon as I reapplied the glyph, the bug started up again.Figgos5 2d
2d Raidbots suggested legendary... Hey guys, today finally get the Legendary Hood and happily doing my new simulations I find myself still recommending the Insignia and Sephuz's over the hood and Soul finger... even recommend the Sacrolash's Dark Strike finger over the hood, is all of this right? Report with the recomendations https://www.raidbots.com/simbot/report/gULT6Xsc48YrEYDRkcGfW Report with what I thought was the best https://www.raidbots.com/simbot/report/hW2pFmbtbRR5EnWfAzMixcShadowblack6 2d
2d Something that really annoys me Why can't I kill totems? Or a Psyfiend? Is it supposed to be immune to ALL of my spells? Powerful soul stealing champion over here, stuck in a slow because I can't kill this wooden stick some dude put in the ground -.- /end rant Seriously though, is there any way we can counter these spells? I usually try to use my pet, but for being a demon dog, he's a pretty slow runner.. And sometimes he caught in a CC so it's not even an option.Azradath6 2d
2d Are my haste and crit too low? Crit: 24% Haste: 22% mastery: 164%Zarokul2 2d
2d Affliction dps What would be the biggest reason my dps is hindered to about 1M? It seems even on a good pull I'll start out around 1.3-1.4 and slowly drop to around 950k-1M. I'm 114% mastery 31% haste. I only have one leggo atm and it's not the best. Would it be primarily the lack of other legendaries and < 940 ilvl? edit: Pay no mind to my spec, I was pvping last night. I raid with a typical ST specLilmoìst25 2d
2d imp voices gone? Hey guys I played on my alt lock today and I noticed the "is it really necessary?" and other voices of imp are gone. Always when I summon him he says nothing just that short voice and always same. When did Blizzard remove it and why!?Kubbin3 2d
2d Need advice I have looked up countless videos on rotation, talents, etc., but not pulling as much dps as i'm supposed to. I think i average 750k dps at 930 ilvl. For my rotation I begin with maintaining agony and corruption, then phantom sing, then two unstable's and then drain. Repeat. You can see in my profile the legendaries i'm using. My talents are 3/1/1/1/2/1/3. Do those talents work well with my legendaries? Is my opener wrong and my rotation or do is there something else i'm missing?Ralfie4 2d
2d Rated Battleground's as Demo? Hey Warlocks, Is Demo RBG PvP a thing? Or is Aff. just to strong to pass up? Destro seems like it does fine, however; aff. is just so strong and healthy for overall damage. I imagine there being some crazy upside to Demo if geared/played accordingly. Is that a pipe dream? Any current info on Lock RBG's would great to hear.Hasic3 2d

3d Entry Tricks for Warlocks I was recently reading an article about a book called “Micromastery”. It was published in Europe in 2017 and I believe its reaching the United States in March. The author basically contends that the way to live a happy life is to learn small things like how to perfectly make an omelette, do a magic trick, or roll a kayak. He calls these things micromasteries. There’s probably some problems with his theory, but I did see a lot of truth in what he calls the “entry trick”. Every micromastery has one. It’s that little thing that someone can learn that instantly elevates their abilities. In tennis, that might be learning to put topspin on the ball. That alone can be the difference between making the JV team or the varsity team. So what is that one “little thing” or “entry trick” for your class that allows a player to instantly elevate their game? Similarly, what is that one little thing that you see someone from your own class (or any other class) do that makes you instantly think, “wow... that’s a player who really spends time with their class.” That might be a creative use of disengage, or a priest using life grip to pull someone onto the elevator as it begins to launch upward in LFR. Thanks everyone!Spellbook8 3d
3d Need WA Buff Tracking Assistance For the purpose of buff tracking, does anyone know the names (or IDs) of our T21 4p bonus, and the Pantheon Trinket? I've been having difficulty getting these (particularly the 4p bonus) to track on my UI. Thanks.Boomerino2 3d
3d Affliction UI help Hi I recently leveled a Warlock and I'm pretty new to casters. I've read people say there are better ways to view your dots than in standard setups. I use ElvUI and Tidyplates. Any tips would be appreciated :)Veynriel13 3d
3d Warlocks and Mana I've just started a warlock, level 10 as of posting this, and I find myself getting quite low on mana especially when I have to fight multiple mobs. I can't recall ever having this problem on the mage I leveled a little while ago. Is mana something i'm going to have to keep an eye on all the time or does it get better as you level?Ithralin9 3d
3d Affliction talents - Siphon Vs Conduit Hey guys, I see based on parses from wowlogs that a lot of the top dps locks are rolling siphon over conduit. At what point is it better to run siphon over conduit?? Even on single target fights like Worldbreaker it seems to be used instead of Conduit. tyDargrim8 3d
