Jan 1, 2014 Mac Pro 2014 I would appreciate any comments on playing WoW on a Quad Core Apple Mac Pro. Please, I don't need the price vs performance angle. Got that already and have read up on building my own PC computer. Simply put, my last Apple tower has lasted 7 years with 2 issues. A failed graphics card and upgraded the hard drives. I ran the cost and it was something like $2 / day. So I'm ok with that price point. It's time for a new tower and before swithing to a PC gaming, I would like anyone's experience using the Quad Core Mac Pro. Thanks.Tawad5 Jan 1, 2014
Jan 1, 2014 Asus G750JW Low FPS Ultra Settings So basically SOMETIMES I'm getting 15-30 FPS on maxed out settings... I mean I didn't pay 1400$ for something that can't even play WoW lol. What's the deal with it? NVIDIA GeForce Experience is telling me the optimal settings for WoW are: Environment Detail: Good Ground Clutter: Good Liquid Detail: Good Multisampling: 2x Particle Density: Good SSAO: Low Sunshafts: Low Texture Filtering: 4x Anisotropic Texture Resolution: Good View Distance: Good I mean that doesn't look right as all lol. I have my card set to performace, i have the power plan on high performace(i checked all the settings in that plan also), it's plugged in, its also less than a week old. So any suggestions or is this really all I'm going to get out of it? EDIT: Just set all settings to low and I'm only getting 70ish FPS in Org on Tichondrius...Yoloswagzqt8 Jan 1, 2014
Jan 1, 2014 Secondary PC Needs some tweaking So basically the computer that i am referring to now is my Secondary PC i am trying to get WOW to run as smooth as possible with as little money put into it as i can. Can you guys give me some tips on what i should replace ( Obviously i want to keep as much as i can befor replacing ) these are my specs : MSI P7N SLI Platinum Mother board -- Intel Core 2 quad cpu QS400 @ 2.66Ghz 2.67 GHZ 3gig ram ( Has 4 currently but 1 is not working ) Graphics card i believe is the ASUS Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT What should i upgrade to get better performance on World of warcraft? Also if i upgrade from windows xp to Windows 7 would that help? because it seems to be very low on frame rate. If i am going to purchase anything it will be from here -- So if you can have a look at the parts you think i should replace ( And which i can keep currently ) that would be awesome, also the budget would be tight, but say $100-$150ish per part, *( Obviously the cheaper that runs the best would be perferred as it's only a secondary PC )* Also the new stuff would have to be compatible and work with anything i am using currently, Thanks in advance yet again guys. Much appriciated PS : Any tips and hints on getting the game to run smoother without putting in new hardware, please let me know ( Everything is already lowered in the video settings of the game ) And still have severe fps problems.Leoniides1 Jan 1, 2014

Jan 1, 2014 Tablet sale. For anyone who has been considering a Tablet, Best buy is having a sale. Looks like most are $50 off, the 128gb Surface is $300 off. I didn't put a link since I honesty don't know if that is against any of the TOS. Anyway, if you were thinking about it, take a look. Also, if you are wondering, no the keyboard/covers are not on sale.Riverhawk0 Jan 1, 2014

Dec 31, 2013 PC Upgrade Advice My current PC specs are: Intel Core i3 530 12GB DDR3 RAM Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 I am currently able to run WoW at high settings, and it plays smoothly except for some graphically intense areas like the Jade Forest, VotFW in the rain, 25man raids, etc. I have the funds to purchase either a new video card or a new MB/CPU combo. According to what I've read on these forums, the best way to improve WoW's performance would be to upgrade my CPU, and I'm currently leaning towards the new MB/CPU. So my question is: would a CPU upgrade be the best way for me to improve WoW's performance? Thank you!Gnobert7 Dec 31, 2013
Dec 31, 2013 Need new headset So right now i have some Earforce X32 turtle beach head phones that are nice and all but they don't block out outside sounds like I hoped they would. They also are not easily compatible with computers, I can't use the pic without buying adapters and they eventually get uncomfortable over long gaming periods (but this could also be happening due to my glasses) I'm looking for some sound canceling headphones with mic that have great audio. Bonus points for wireless ones and comparability with xbox and or playstationPlaguemouth2 Dec 31, 2013
Dec 31, 2013 Need a little help with an upgrade :) Hello, i have a desktop id like to upgrade. From what i know about it, ( it was my gfs but i traded my laptop cause she used that more ) its a couple years old, has a dual core 3.0Ghz processor, 4 gigs of ram, a ati radeon HD 4800 series video card, and i dont know much about the motherboard except its made by gigabyte. It doesnt have many issues while playing current games on high settings except for the excessive fan noise. I need it to be somewhat future proof, but not complete overkill. Id like to play current and the next year or twos games at max/ultra settings with no problems with fps drops or excessive fan noise while recording gameplays. Minor video editing will be done but no overedits :D. I also need a new hard drive or 2, atleast 2 Tb worth of space, but possibly more. Not looking for an SSD unless i can get one for pretty cheap to just hold my OS. I may need a new tower, but thats if after budgeting i have some to spare. My budget is around $1k id like to stick to a little lower, but i am flexible. I can order parts as early as next week, or as late as feburary 3rd. If theres any other information anyone needs just let me know, ill be checking this throughout the day. And please do mind any spelling or grammar errors, have to write this on my phone. Anyways! Thanks in advance for any suggestions on what to put in this rig to make me and my gf happy. that is if i decide to give it back to her ;) Also, id like to stay away from like amd/ati parts, im willing to shell out a little extra for intel based parts, but am keeping an open mind for amd parts if the price and performance are right. :)Etaiaventrau7 Dec 31, 2013
Dec 31, 2013 Need a new low profile graphics card I thought maybe the drivers needed updating (they did), but even with the updates WoW and Diablo are both constantly disconnecting and now I'm getting the I think 132? error for WoW. Last time this happened, it was the video card. I'm currently running an AMD Radeon HD 5570, which is probably a pretty old card. I don't remember when I got it, 2 or 3 years ago I think. My biggest issue is my budget. I want to stay around ~$50, but I have about ~$10 for wiggle room. Anything higher than $60 I can't consider. On the bright side, as long as it plays WoW at somewhere between low and medium, that's great. I don't want to have to set it on absolute lowest, but if a handful of things were on a step above the lowest setting, that'd work just fine. I was eyeballing this, my only hesitation is a] the price and that's because b] there are only 2 reviews - is it what I need for the price I'd be dropping? I don't know that. Any suggestions are welcome. MUST BE LOW PROFILE.Cozzene1 Dec 31, 2013
Dec 31, 2013 Building a custom computer, preferences? I've used this website to selectively pick parts to purchase to custom create my own computer when i get taxes back next month-ish. My budget runs around 800-1200 and this totals to roughly 900. not including a monitor, speakers, etc. now if i wanted to play wow on ultra settings, or any other game, would there be a problem with any of these parts. please give your input thanks! Dec 31, 2013 Elder Scrolls Online Man I wish this was out so bad. I mean. Srsly. April cannot get here soon enough. Anybody that has a ps4 or xbox you think the graphics will be comparable to pc? Dec 31, 2013 FFXIV:ARR worth looking into for sure. I've been bored lately with WoW and due to the fact that you can't raid all the time i've been looking into other games, so if others are in the same boat please keep reading. I've been playing Final Fantasy XIV: A realm reborn the last few days and it's amazingly refreshing. Great graphics (so if your computer can't handle WoW on ultra might not be able to handle it), amazing cut scenes, very in depth story line (feels like playing a single player game in the sense that the story line is so top notch) and overall just feels like a whole new world to explore. So anyone bored and looking for a break from the monotony in WoW should try and check out this game. Look up some videos at first and see if it seems like something you'd like. But it was on sale for half off so i decided to give it a try and definitely worth it (honestly if WoW took notes from this game and implemented things this game has, WoW would be the greatest game ever)Mogrul6 Dec 31, 2013

Dec 31, 2013 WoW and iMacs I'm considering getting an iMac for school, as some of the programming classes I'm considering are for x-code and developing for OS X and iOS. A cheap older Mac mini off eBay should handle anything that I'd need for those classes, but my desktop is starting to age and replacing it wouldn't be the worst thing. I'm familiar with the whole "pay more for Apple, build a comparable machine for less" and all the Mac vs. Windows fanboy arguments, but what I'm more concerned about is actual performance. How well could I expect to run WoW on this iMac: 21.5-inch: 2.7GHz Specifications 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz 8GB (two 4GB) memory 1TB hard drive1 Intel Iris Pro graphics I'd be getting it through my school bookstore so there aren't a lot of upgrade options (i.e. none at all). I could go with the 27" iMac with a 3.2ghz i5 and NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M with 1GB video memory, but I'm not sure if that would be worth the extra $500-ish in performance.Pandemagium30 Dec 31, 2013

Dec 30, 2013 Bliz should make their own operating system. They do such a good job designing their games they should make a OS for their games. I may be one of the only people that would use this but I only use my PC for WoW, curse, and other drivers for my key board ect. and sometimes StarCraft. However I am stuck with Windows 8 and it crashes and breaks every other week(sometimes every other day/hour). I like playing on my mac but I need it for work and I do like playing WoW on a PC because you can customize your hardware exactly what you want. I know it will never happen and should look into linux but it is just a thought.Burritoe2 Dec 30, 2013
Dec 30, 2013 PTC 10: My Little Ponyta ( Hope no one minds this title. I can't help it. New episode was out today ) Enjoy the copy/paste. Sorry the Friend Safari info isn't quite up to date. Still plenty of Friend Codes Howdy folks. With the advent of X/Y and the amount of people who play it on these boards, I got to thinking that perhaps we need to pool our resources together and come together to help each other out in getting specific Pokemon to fill out those Pokedex pages. It's simple enough to do with Wi-Fi trading these days (gone are the days where ya need that damn transfer cable, thank GOD) and if we work together, we can really get some good stuff going around. Dec 30, 2013 Upgrading my comp for wow, after some input Hi guys, ran into a bit of money lately and im planning on upgrading my computer. Currently i have: Intel i5-2500K @3.30GHz NVidia GTX 560 I'm looking at upgrading my graphics to the NVidia GTX 770 for about $430 AU And possibly upgrading my processor to the i7-3770 which i can get for about $345 AU Also considering getting an SSD for ~$130 AU which i could potentially put windows, WoW, and a few other choice games on. got plenty of RAM. My question is, out of these upgrades what sort of improvements am i going to see in game? As it is at the moment i can play with pretty good specs at a decent framerate but anything like detailed shadows means it gets choppy if anything chaotic is happening or I'm running something in the background. If i was to say, upgrade the graphics card, would i then be pretty much good to go or would i then be bottlenecked by my (un upgraded) CPU? And how important is an SSD?Mokthar2 Dec 30, 2013
Dec 30, 2013 We got a Nintendo for Christmas Just Nintendo. :) With Super Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt. My kids cannot believe how hard old games are, haha. Dec 29, 2013 Question about GPU? I am looking to get a new graphics card and have decided on a 7850 but i was wondering what is the difference between these two card? Is one just a newer model and which do you guy recommend getting? Dec 29, 2013
Dec 29, 2013 Graphics Card for New build. Hi guys. Right now I'm completing a build primarily for WoW. I also do Adobe Photoshop/After Effects/Premiere Pro. I don't really play any other games besides Blizzard based games, but may eventually try other games in the future, like BF4 or something to that degree. (Current computer) I have a 5-6 year old Dell XPS 420 with an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.4 GHz, 4gb of ram, 250gb HDD and upgraded to a GTX 660 a few months ago. This computer runs everything pretty decent, and can get up to 120 fps in WoW when I'm not in a major city or raid. While in a city or raid, I tend to get about 30-high 40ish. Load times suck as well. Currently, I'm building a new computer just to simply have a beast for WoW and other things. I've always wanted to build my own PC and now I have that opportunity. I am just stuck on what I should do for the GPU. Here's the current build I'm working with and the GPU is the last thing I need to get (hence, its the most expensive, sorta): Edit: Link to pcpartpicker CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing Motherboard: Asus Z87-PRO ATX LGA1150 Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" SSD Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Video Card: Case: Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced ATX Full Tower Power Supply: Rosewill 750W ATX12V / EPS12V Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 - OEM (64-bit) I have all these items purchased and am debating on the card to get. I'm more of an NVIDIA fan over AMD so if you could suggest NVIDIA cards, I'd appreciate it. I'd love to get the GTX 780, but it costs a little over $500 USD and I know it would blow WoW out of the water. The GTX 760 is roughly half the price but I know it's also a good card. I know WoW is more CPU driven than GPU, but with my new build specs, what would be the smarter choice and could you please give me some info why? I will also be installing WoW and my OS on my SSD for better load times etc. Thanks!Relapzz5 Dec 29, 2013
Dec 29, 2013 Looking for a prebuilt I can order online. Not looking to get crazy into custom building or part finding, just want something on my doorstep in a few days that will run WoW efficiently. What constitutes efficiently? I'd like to run 25 man raids at 60 fps. Not have to worry about framerates at all really. Run with my graphics and medium high to high and be able to visually enjoy this game. How does this square up? If not where could you point me for something prebuilt I can pick up and have in days. I can spend up to around 1000, give or take. Go! :DGeyah11 Dec 29, 2013
Dec 29, 2013 Improve phone internet advice? Ok here is my situation, I just moved and internet isn't available in my area and I'd like to continue being able to play. I've attempted to use my phone as a wireless hotspot, but signal is extremely poor for even phone signal, let alone for the data portion. I can occasionally pick up 3g and LTE (iphone5 verizon) but it's very inconsistent, and doesn't last long. While connected to LTE my latency on WoW is actually pretty good, about 80-110 which I could deal with, but when it's connected to anything else I'm usually at 500-10k. So my question is, is there any way to improve my LTE reception? It's available in my area, I just seem to be in a bad spot. Edit - Also are there any programs that are legitimate tunneling program that could help with latency issues I'm experiencing? I live in Virginia, so if there is a specific one that caters to that area better than others that'd be appreciated as well.Frostitûte13 Dec 29, 2013
Dec 29, 2013 First ever PC build help..t-minus 8 days The current PC can no longer handle raiding and is one foot in the grave on everything else. Now that I have a good job and a few promotions under my belt, the wife has given me the go ahead to look into replacing her. I am posting these two builds to get insight. The components listed are all I'll need, and my budget for them is based around $500.00 (the more over, the more explaining I'll have to do). I do plan to use 8gb of RAM, but I'm using 4 as a proof of concept. Naturally, this means I'm not looking to get ultra settings - my visual acuity doesn't speak HD, anyway. So, I am open to any recommendations to either build to get at least good/med fps; a consistent 30 fps was a long time ago for us. The wife and I play WoW exclusively, but are more weekend warriors (for now) with work and kids. Any advice for a first time builder is also appreciated, I plan this build to be the first of many for me and my wife. Thank you in advance. Dec 29, 2013

Like barely. I have to scream at the mic just to see a little movement on the levels. I've tried skyping people and they all kept telling me that I sounded very static-y and robotic. Can anyone help me with this? I'm using the onboard sound card as my current rig is a prebuilt OEM machine from Acer and I believe that it's using a Realtek High Definition Audio codec (ALC888S chip to be specific). I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers from Realtek (R2.73 if I'm not wrong) and I have noise suppresion enabled with the microphone level at 100 and Microphone boost at +30dB. I have the mic currently connected to the front panel audio but it's also the same with the rear panel audio. I have tested the headset with Skype on another laptop with everything factory and it sounded crystal clear so it's most def not an issue with the headset. Could it be due to the fact that I replaced the old OEM hard drive with a new one and reinstalled windows recently?Cryptoxic1 Dec 29, 2013
Dec 29, 2013 Hmm 3DMark 13 acting weird So when I run Extreme on my 1440p I get artifacts past 1100/1300 stock power/voltage. When I run the same test on another monitor it's fine even up to 1200/1500 (+100mv and +50% power). The test scales the screen to 1440p regardless of your monitor. But it's weird that even pumping more voltage/power doesn't make it anymore stable compared to stock.Stephí0 Dec 29, 2013
Dec 28, 2013 Doing some GPU upgrading! Hello all! I’m shopping around for a new GPU! Actually two, one for my wife and one for myself. We mainly play Blizzard games, but I wouldn’t mind trying out BF4 on the PC. My build, that I’m still putting together from upgraded parts is: ASUS Sabertooth 990fx motherboard AMD 8150 FX 8 core processor (black edition) My price range it seems is between 200-260, and so far I’ve narrowed it down to either MSI Gaming N760 TF 2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 760 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 OR SAPPHIRE DUAL-X 100364BF4L Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-bit GDDR5: (( or Any opinions on those, or something completely different… I’m open to suggestions! Though I would like to make the purchases tonight, since it seems prices are going up now that Christmas is over. (Oh, my wife has a amd 6 core, and some other motherboard that I forget.) OH! Currently we both have HD 5770 cards from about 4 years ago, just so you know what we’ll be coming from. Thanks for any information!Jaece3 Dec 28, 2013
Dec 28, 2013 Used to run WoW unplayable I'm home for the holidays and trying to get my last achievement for the What a Long Strange Trip it's Been meta. I used to play WoW on fair settings just fine on my mothers computer. I reinstalled it and tried logging on, and my FPS is sitting at 2. Yeah, 2. Highest I've gotten it, after deleting the WTF, Cache, Interface folders and setting graphics to Low, is 10fps. My moms computer is older, yes, but like I said I used to play WoW fine on it when I lived at home and didn't have my own computer yet (Pre-MoP) It's a Compaq CQ5210Y. Processor- AMD Athlon II X2 215 Dual-Core Memory- 3GB Hard Drive- 500GB Optical Drive- SuperMulti DVD+R/RW It's running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. If that's not enough info I'll try to find more. But any help would be very appreciated, I don't wanna have to wait ANOTHER year to get my dragon!Erisdar10 Dec 28, 2013

Dec 28, 2013 7 Days to Die I've been watching some gameplay/trailers for this game. I am the very least intrigued. Has anyone played it here? I'm tempted to get it, but I'm kind of on the fence. I played DayZ, and this game kind of looks like it's going for the same feel.Kreskov0 Dec 28, 2013
Dec 28, 2013 Surprising my friend with a new year's PC So, I have this buddy, he loves WoW and we play together all the time, but he still uses this crappy dell laptop from 2008 to play, and when i see him play it he's always on low graphics and around 30-50 fps, so i've decided for all the missed christmas years i was going to get him a computer, I was going to build it, but i've decided to pick up a pre built and am planning on upgrading the PSU and graphics card of the unit, since it's fairly entry level. the unit i plan on gettings link is here: I picked it since it was on sale for 579.99$ and it's normally around 700$, now i didn't really like how it only had a 300 watt psu and a 1gb graphics card, so that's why im posting on this forum, I want to put a 2gb graphics card in and around a 500 watt PSU, can any of you guys recommend me some cheap hardware that would work with this unit?Akralla5 Dec 28, 2013
Dec 28, 2013 Need help building a PC (Advice is thankful) Well my fellow WoW friends. I bought a Alienware Laptop in 2010 thinking I can finally play PC games with nice quality. For a year I was extremely happy. However, over the years the laptop is just !@#$. Constant lagging in WoW, computer restarts a lot, and it over heats. I constantly have all these problems and I had a tech come by at least 8 times in the last 3 years. My laptop is in a stable place so the over heating shouldn't be a problem. I changed everything to brand new ones over and over again. So I decided to build my own PC, I'm brand new to it but I heard it's worth the money if you can do it. I spent 2,500 on the laptop and now to trade it in it's 500 -_- fml. Also, I would like to OC my processor, any advice on that? Well I tried my best and wanted to see what you guys would think about it: Dec 28, 2013
Dec 28, 2013 PlayStation 4 Woes The PS4 is a pain in the !@#$ to get my hands on. Every single website/store chain that I've been too has it sold out or set to ridiculous prices ($700+). Anyone know a reliable website with a reasonable price (around the 450-500 range) that I can buy one from? If not when do you think is the best time I should pop my head into Walmart to look for one?Phobetor29 Dec 28, 2013
