Apr 30 Open Budget to upgrade PC/New Monitor Set-up Hi all! Above is my current PC. The purpose of this build was to run max settings on WoW. This build has worked amazingly, except for the graphics! I deduced a while back that it was because of my monitor, so I decided to buy a new one. Here is the original thread I started trying to figure it out However, having been $2k+ deep already, I chose to wait a wee bit before spending more money, which leads us here to this moment. THE PURPOSE OF THIS POST I want to run max settings on pretty much every game out there (within reason of course). What will it take to get me to that point? I need a new monitor set-up! I've been looking at the 38" curved monitors and 165hZ monitors. I'm wanting to buy multiple and string them together. $3000 budget on monitorsJezibell22 Apr 30

Apr 29 Fraps vs OBS? Ok so, for quite a long time now I have used Fraps to record, however I noticed last night that one of my recordings still had a little bit of "grainy" features on it. So I embarked to find another software to record with, and stumble upon OBS. Now I'm a couple hours in to tweaking things, and no matter how much I try, I can get rid of an issue I'm having where it's pretty damn clear, however there is some slight stuttering, and scenes with fast movement are slightly "off looking". Right now I'm using the following settings; Recording Format : MP4 Encoder : NVENC H.264 No Re-scaling applied Rate Control : CBR I have also tried Lossless and VBR Bitrate: Currently at 165000, although I did start much lower and found a lot of blurriness which is why I'm at my current rate Keyframe Interval : 0 Preset: High Quality although I have used Default and found no real difference Base Res : 1920x1200 Output Res :1920x 1200 Downscale Filter: lanczos 32 Samples FPS 60 I don't know what to do at this point, is it just OBS isn't the best for recording, or am I missing something important? If anyone has experience with this program and the issues I'm having, I'd very much appreciate any help.Blindhatred0 Apr 29

Apr 28 PCBS actually building a budget solution? Well because I spent entirely way too much on my rig and my fiance's rig, I decided to sell my rig with an R7 1700x and go as budget as possible. Below are the specs and pricing: Ryzen 5 1600 ($220) Gigabyte GA-AB350M ($95) 2x8GB DDR4 3000MHz ($105) Cooler Master Master Case Pro 3 ($70) Seasonic S12II ($45) Powercolor RX 580 8GB GDDR5 ($230) Crucial MX 300 525GB SSD ($150) I will be using the Spire Cooler from the 1700 that I am putting into my fiance's rig (she has an NZXT X61). $915 shipped to my door isn't bad. Add in $30 for Windows and it's under $950 still! Videos to come!Snaeb1 Apr 28
Apr 28 PLAYING black desert online EPIC PVP content PLAYING black desert online EPIC PVP content been playing BDo AND omg COMBAT in that game is one of the best combat i ever played IN mmo apart me been aus player aiming in pvp kind of little issue but game is SO so IN DEPTH AND so detailed like you can breed and lvl up mounts and sale them. graphics in combat looks so damn good and transmogrify looks HOT! but WHAT gets to me in this game is PVP they have GUILD VS GUILD and so fun :DDD and siege pvp , that WoW has not got,,, sorry ashran was poorly designed and its small map. this game has better pvp content then that of WoW WoW has only 1 fun type of pvp that arena only that :/ what i want to see in wow is more new types of pvp content but we all know thats not going to happen becuase WE all know that WoW is based on PVE and pvp is only side thing if that wasnt the case we would of had new pvp content by now . NOT reused content! eg honor levels and few new arena maps zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and BDO has NOT pay to win in it,,, i check it out 100% it was all flase bs that people said only upper hand with pay to win is pay TO lvl up faster from 1 to like 56 no big DEAL only issue i have is its VERY grindy but when you get your gear and what you need for pvp , and you do end game pvp content SO SO SO SO fun BUT I HATE the grind if only WoW had these types of pvp content then i would be happy guild vs guild fight over nodes and world siege pvpCreeds19 Apr 28

Apr 28 R5-1600 vs I5-7600K OC Benchmarks 1080/1440p EDIT: I did a WoW Raiding live stream on my channel, it's not up yet but should be in 3-4 hours. I even did Spellblade as well! Well as I promised, overclocked benchmarks are here. I only used games with actual in-game benchmarks and I must say, I did NOT expect Kaby Lake to lose here to be honest. For Honor where the 7600k won, it was choppier with lower lows and higher highs. The board I used for Ryzen couldn't OC ram past 2133MHz, so only CPU core clock was changed here. Video can be seen here: For those who don't want to support my channel by viewing the video, the results can be seen down below as well as the settings I used. Apr 28 1440p casual gaming and VM/Coding/Simulations Hi all, Recently built a computer but had to return due to some faulty parts after two weeks. Friend recommended a build but they're out of town and aren't available to help. Here are the parts I currently have. These parts are from an older build or bought at a low price and been tested for functionality. Basically I need a CPU, Motherboard, case, and power supply. I was interested in the Ryzen build but I also want a mini itx case this one in particular. I prefer to have a mini itx build but willing to look at other options as well as long as its a black/white scheme. TLDR: Need a CPU Motherboard case and psu with black and white scheme. Mini ITX prefer but not highest priority Computer used for League of Legends, Blizzard Games, GTA5 along with Virtual Machine, Coding, and Simulations. Budget $400-$600Tampwn9 Apr 28
Apr 27 Windowed Mode Only @ 50hz? I'm flummoxed whenever I launch WOW the game insists on running at 50hz in Window or Window FS and I have zero clue as to why. I only noticed because I just bought a new BenQ monitor (they're the best brand IMO) and I've been experiencing headaches. At first I thought it was the monitor but it isn't a PWM monitor. So what then? So I investigated and the only other thing I can think of is this 50hz business. How long has it been doing that? When did it start? I don't know I never looked before. Side question: Should I swap this 27" monitor in for a 24" one running at 144hz or 120hz?Tééks7 Apr 27
Apr 27 Invasion fried card, need upgrade, STAT I'm running with a AMD HD Radeon 6700 series which has been reliable and solid for the past five to six years. During a Stormheim Invasion, it stopped cooling itself effectively, and now has an 'idle' temp of 75-80C. My machine's processor is an AMD Phenom IIx6 1100T 3.3GHz. It has 16GB of RAM. I've been trying to find either a replacement card or an upgrade for a PCI-E 2.0x16 GDDR5, but not having a lot of luck. Any suggestions? As noted above, this card by itself has been the best card I've had. I've had horrific luck/performance issues with nVidia cards in the past. Thank you very much for your time in advance!Lohnn17 Apr 27
Apr 27 Hyrule Warriors/legends Have a question regarding these two games. I have the one for wiiU from over a year ago and finally decided to start working on it again, though now I see legends is out as well. Been trying to find an answer for this so I'm gonna try here.....though I have the wiiU version, should I spring for legends for my new 3DS? I'm wanting to download new characters and new boards but I'm afraid doing it for the wiiU would mean I can only unlock things up until legends and if legends has extra things wiiU doesn't have. Essentially should I simply stick with the wiiU and all its DLC or spring for the 3DS game and get the downloads there though it being less graphical then the original. P.S Graphics don't really matter too much for me so long as the run engine is solid.Flaya0 Apr 27

Apr 26 Looking for a new laptop I've been poking around for a new laptop recently as WoW is becoming unplayable on mine, but I have no idea what I'm doing so I'd like some recommendations! My budget is around $1k, almost anything will be better than my dying Lenovo T430 lol. What I want outta the laptop is to be able to raid pain-free on WoW and be able to play games such Dishonored 2 (I've been wanting to try it out for a while but my laptop just can't take it). I don't want to sacrifice too much storage though in favor of a SSD. Edit: Decided on a Laptop! Got a MSI GP62MVR Leopard Pro, I'm excited!Lunaal4 Apr 26
Apr 25 {Please help} - Looking to upgrade! Hello!, so when it comes to buying graphics cards I am not all that smart, but I do need Windows because right now I am playing warcraft on a inactive windows which is a real struggle considering I can't keep my PC updated. In addition - when the display cord that is connected to the nvidia card is bumped or !@#$led slightly the monitor will crash and in order for me to fix this I would have to turn the PC all the way off - unplug the power source and remove the cmos battery and sometimes the entire graphics card - turn it back on then back off - reinsert everything and back on. so I am wanting to buy windows OS and a new graphics card - any suggestions? here is my info. Apr 25 PC Upgrades for Legion Hey Guys, recently i have been running into random frame drops in raids, WQ, and Dalaran. I am usually in the 60ish range in dalaran but sometimes ill dip into the 20s for a second. Really annoying. Also happens in the open world, and raids where i get about 70-80 fps. Currently im running: Intel Core i5-4690K Processor 3.5 GHz LGA 1150 BX80646I54690K Nividia GTX 1060 6gb 8gb Ram Windows 10 I have a quite a few addons rolling: Elvui DBM Skada titan panel Tradeskill - not all the plugins, but it still running in the background I was thinking RAM should be the first upgrade, go to 16gb, because i know WOW is taking up at least 50% of my memory. Dont know if that is enough to solve the frame spike issue. Also im running my graphics on 7, which they tell me is recommended. Also im looking to upgrade to an ultra wide in the future, with the price drops on 1080 and 1070s, i might purchase one of them too, but was wondering if the 1060 would work fine? Im looking to run max ultra settings, other games as well. (Blizzard games mostly) Let me know what you guys think.Bacstabath7 Apr 25
Apr 25 Display Driver Has Stopped Responding... I have recently returned to WoW and has started noticing a problem while playing. While playing the game will freeze and I get a pop up telling me, 'Display Driver Has Stopped Responding and Recovered." It happens quite a lot actually. I am using an Nvidia GTX 650 Ti and have made sure the drivers are up to date. I am running TechPowerUp GPU-Z to monitor the temperature of my GPU and the temperature never gets close to its rated maximum of 105c. I have tried lowering my graphic setting for the game and it hasn't helped the issue. I have even edited my registry to increase the TDR. That fix however created a new error message, "program has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware." In this case I have to shut down WoW and restart it otherwise the screen just remains blank. Can anyone tell me what the cause of this error is? Do I need to replace my Video Card? Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank youGallowsghost2 Apr 25
Apr 25 Upgrade from 7870 Sup guys, im actually playing with a hd 7870 and this card is !@#$. CRASHING SINCE day 1 in multiple games. Its now time to change it 4/5 after years of problems.Atm my screen is teinted blue ,colors are really bad ... I was aiming for a 1050 ti or 1060,or rx 470/480 are Nvidia better than AMD? I really hated my experience with my AMD card but maybe their new cards are better. I play a lot of games :D is their a big difference between 1050 and 1060? Most reliable? should i go AMD or nvidia? thx! :)Epøhx9 Apr 25
Apr 24 Wanting to stream/record Hello. I am wanting to get into a little streaming/recording. I play on low settings and probably will do both in low as well. When I check "My Rig" in GeForce I have the following: GeForce GT 730 Intel Core i56600K CPU@3.50GHz 7.92GB ram 1600x900, 60Hz I understand that my graphics card is crummy so I what I'm wondering is, If I buy and install a new graphics, will I be okay? Or do I need to replace a lot?Masamüne14 Apr 24
Apr 24 CPU/GPU Optimum Settings Ratio Monitor: 23in 1920x1080 Ram: 8g DDR3 (2x2x2x2) CPU: AthlonII x4 640 3ghz (Bottleneck in WoW for sure) GPU: EVGA GTX 750 ti FTW So my FPS is 20-60 and I'm not complaining. Have vsync+triple buffer enabled, and threw graphics settings on recommended. Manually threw on MSAAx4 Been playing for several hours and see from GPU-Z that the load hasn't gone above 60%. This tells me I should be able to boost a few settings even further, without a drop in FPS (assuming the settings I increase have 0 impact on CPU) I expect to get the 20fps in raids, stormwind, and the like because my CPU is ancient, but which specific settings -if any- don't affect the CPU at all? in Stormwind my FPS is 20 regardless if I'm on lowest settings, or ultra, (because the cpu) so it's hard to pinpoint which settings I can safely boost to get that GPU load from 60% to something higher. My render scale is set to 100%: Would it stress out my CPU if I set this to 125, or 150? And would this increase show a difference with my monitor/resolution? Looking for some opinions, thank you~Nymfy9 Apr 24
Apr 23 Emulators on 2017 Sony XBR900E Just picked up the 75" 2017 Sony XBR900E and I love it! Since the software is Android open source, I am able to run emulators on it :) I was wondering if anyone has run emulators on their TV and the set-up they went through. I can download Emulators such as these: Snes9x EX+ & SuperRetro16 (SNES), but what would be the best way to download and store ROMs (SD, USB, tv storage, etc.) I'm hoping to only use my TV if I'm able opposed to running Nexus or another system.Jezibell0 Apr 23
Apr 23 Please help me build a computer! I've always had a really trashy computer, and I mean really trashy. Most of my life my parents never understood gaming, and they never really wanted to support me when it came to gaming. I've always use my mother's old work computer to play games on, so I've never witnessed higher than 40fps on any game(not even minecraft). Currently I am running legion on extremely low settings (everything is set to the lowest possible option), but I still get pretty bad lag while doing just about anything. Dalaran is literally my biggest nightmare, it takes me about 15 minutes just to get out of that city. I watch WoW guides and Youtube videos all the time and the game looks so beautiful. I really want to be able to see the game like that. I want to be able to play wow and the best settings. My budget would be anything below $1,500, but I could go higher. I've never built a computer before, so it would be nice if you guys could of guide me on what parts are good. Maybe giving links to them as well. I don't even know how to build a computer in the first place. Do I like actually put it together myself or do I give it to a company online and they do it for me? I don't know, please help.Toddlyhoward10 Apr 23
Apr 23 Thinking of going back to Win7 I built a new PC last year in July, and used the Win10 image that I downloaded as a Win7 user to get a Win10 x64 installation on the new system. I'd say so far Win10 is pretty decent, has great boot times and all, but it doesn't seem very compatible with older games. The few benchmarks I saw between Win7/8/10 also don't seem to show any significant differences, maybe I missed the important ones, I dunno. A big reason as to why I decided to go for Win10 on my new build was because of the upcoming DX12 stuff, but so far implementation of it in new games has been slow. Win10 also doesn't play nice with the engineering software I'm using for university work, as the version I'm licensed for is a 2014 version. So I'm thinking of formatting the drives and reinstalling Win7, what do you guys think? What OS's are you guys on? My build: i7-6700K @ 4.2GHz Gigabyte GTX 1080 Gaming G1 16 GB of 2400MHz DDR4 RAM OS and large games on SSDs, other stuff on HDD Windows 10 Home x64Xuanney6 Apr 23
Apr 23 Starcraft Remastered, No Warcraft Remaster? I'm happy for all Starcraft fans that the original game is getting remastered. Who doesn't enjoy an overhaul on the games they grew up on? What I don't understand is why SC would get a remaster but the following was said about Warcraft by Blizzard co-founder Frank Pearce; "They got it working and they got it running in a window. And I played it. Warcraft: Orcs & Humans was awesome for its time. I promise you, in today's world, by today's standards, it's just not that fun any more." It just seems contradicting to me but maybe I'm missing a piece of the puzzle. Overall I think Blizzard provides pretty solid games, but also has a bad habit of telling their customers what is and isn't fun. Anyone who's played WoW can tell you that. Anyways, random thoughts. Remaster WC3 and take my money.Norrec8 Apr 23
Apr 22 GTX 1070 to run WoW on Ultra at 1440p 60hz? Hey all, I'm helping a friend with a build and I've picked out a R5 1600 and other items to move from an iMac to PC. Was deliberating on the graphics card and was wondering if anyone runs WoW at 1440p and what card they use. Ideally he'd like high settings (like 6 or 7) and 60 FPS with minimal frame drops in raids and on fights like Skorpyron. I think a 1070 may be needed but if not I'd like to go with an RX 580 or even RX 480. Thoughts?Khazzan4 Apr 22
Apr 22 Quake Champions! I recently got a beta invite and if you enjoy fps, especially Quake, I think it is a pretty good game so far. Can't go into details but if you like these types of games I recommend you sign up for the beta and see what it is like and provide feedback etc.Bojanglz0 Apr 22
Apr 21 Borderlands: The pre-sequel! Anyone else playing this right now? I am, and I love it. I do want to know why it seems that no matter how much I grind levels, farm xp and level up that no matter what, every time I enter a new area (on TVHM) everything is at least 2-3 levels higher than me, and thus hits far FAR harder. :( Currently enjoying my level 38 Enforcer. Got super lucky at level 33 and picked up a Celestial class mod in a weapon vending machine, really loving it, gives me +4 to all tier 1 skills which is really really nice. Also got lucky and snagged a level 28 "deeeerp" nukem (which made the base damage on nukem WAY higher.) I use a sigularity grenade and drop the nukem on the big pile o' mobs and collect loot and xp Not enjoying moonstones and other loot floating away in the lower gravity areas :( I have seen purple and blue weapons fly away into nothingness while I cringe in silence :(Aecheon9 Apr 21
Apr 21 trying to get WOW to play smooth again I have a few hardware questions on an older PC. My current rig is. Apr 21 Want a laptop that can run raids. I know, all the time this question gets asked... but there are never great responses really... it's always just "buy a PC" I don't have that luxury, I can't play on a PC 6/7 days a week. I am looking for a Laptop (I DON'T CARE IF IT'S USED OR REFURB) that can run NH/ToS on MEDIUM settings. I don't need it to be pretty, just to always get 50+ FPS on MEDIUM in RAIDS. Don't care how Dal runs, how other games run. Just need 50 FPS ON MEDIUM (for draw distance and ground effects, and having a few addons [DBM, Skada, Hekili, a few small !@# ones too]) I have a budget of 600. I could very easily buy used parts and get a PC, I KNOW - I HAVE ONE. I need a Laptop for raiding while I'm traveling. So including S&H I want to spend 600 or less on a used, new, refurb laptop that can run ToS on MEDIUM SETTINGS. Thanks if you read that wall and have a solution.Indrct7 Apr 21
Apr 21 AMD Ryzen CPU confirmed! AMD new CPU is called Ryzen. Watching the stream so far, it can auto overclock on its own depending on what cooling you have. You have liquid cooling? Apr 20 Which Anti-Aliasing option? GTX 570 to 1070! Trying to understand the new options that I can now play with. I moved Render Scale from 100% to 200% and Anti-Aliasing went from FXAA High to Custom. What do they all mean, which ones the "best" and which one should I use and why?Feridius5 Apr 20
Apr 20 Revisiting an old rig, what can it do? Still benchmarking, but I've been having a ton of repeat customers who I sold to about 3-4 years ago for new rigs. This one is one of my EARLY ones. HOLY MALWARE BATMAN!!! It was so bad, when I connected it as a slave drive via SATA it prevented my PC from posting video. Had to put it in an external enclosure AFTER the PC was turned on. Anywho, I redid the thermal paste, took apart the GPU and cleaned that up as well, cleaned it up, rewired it (holy crap was my cable management bad back then) and I am curious as to what it will do. Below are the specs: AMD Athlon II x4 760k 4.1GHz Quad Core 2x4GB DDR3 1600MHz Ram MSI FM-75MA-P33 Motherboard Lite-On 120GB SSD Sapphire HD 7870GHz Edition Western Digital 1TB HDD Roswill 600W 80+ Bronze PSU Roswill Challenger Case I think with Windows COA it cost me $500 and I sold it for $600 (This was November 2013 mind you), but gave him $350 in trade for it and added the SSD and Windows 10 after reloading it. I will post results soon! Video seen here: Apr 20
Apr 20 Time for a new pc? I have a pc which I built in 2008 for aion. It's was. Core 2 quad 6600 (overclocked) 4 gb ddr 3 Dual gtx 280's 1000w psu VelociRaptor hard drive I have upgraded video card to a gtx 970 when WOD came out and got a SSD then also and 8 gigs of ram. This pc did me fine all thru WOD. I find now it struggles sometimes in raids and i have to lower most all the settings. Once lowered I do ok in the raids but I think it's time for an upgrade. When I built my pc it was top of the line for what I could afford at the time. However as I soon found the intel I3-7 line came out and they changed socket types so I had no upgrades available all these years. Games keep getting better all the time that's the way it goes. It looks like right now my options are buy into socket AM 4 platform and have the ability to upgrade to maybe the next 2 rounds of amd processors. Or buy into i7 7700k and have no room to upgrade. Or wait till the next intel socket comes and buy into that platform. I'm not sure what to do. So I came to ask for opinions. What would y'all do in my place. Money is not unlimited but when I build it is usually a top pc that will last a long time. However this time I would like to know I can upgrade a little like 3-4 years from now without building another new one. Edit: I'll be getting a 4K freesync monitor and dual rx vega cards when they come out. Just asking about the motherboard/processor to buy into.Lumb1 Apr 20

Apr 18 League of Legends and Warcraft likeness I swore never to touch this game again when the first exe file I ever downloaded of it had malware in it (it was of the official game from the game's website), but apparently that's been cleared up, so I was considering giving it another go. While looking through the media on the main LoL webpage I couldn't help but notice a lot of the artwork bears a striking likeness to Warcraft. Even the artwork images for items. Granted, I know that the entire game was inspired by a custom Wc3 map, couldn't these guys be a bit more original, it's like they ripped Blizzard's likeness and style directly from a Blizzard game and copy-pasted it. It's not plagiarism but it's teetering around it and flirting with it.. and it's not like an homage was paid, either. One of the heroes "Annie" has a portrait that looks like a splitting image of Chromie. And I still want to know why the game is so successful and so popular. I don't really care for MOBAs, but I suppose I'll find out if I do indeed try it.Hakkuun2 Apr 18
Apr 18 Hunter solo'ing video series I've been working on a series showing off how insanely OP a new hunter in full heirlooms is. First video only shows the grind to level 12, while the 2nd one finally gets into the dungeons! I plan to release a new video every day. Any feedback welcome :) Apr 18
Apr 17 New Mouse Help So, I use my mouse to move and steer. Left and right click to move forward and look around. While I use my mouse button 4 and 5 to strafe. Well, when I switched to my new mouse with the same buttons and layout it won't let me strafe while holding down both mouse keys but, it did let me do it on the old mouse. Whenever I do try to hold down 3 buttons to move and strafe it just stops moving and the mouse cursor shows up and I can move it around. Any ideas on how to fix this in settings or is my mouse incapable of having 3 buttons held down simultaneously? Any help is much appreciated.Notmoonkin3 Apr 17
Apr 17 New PC - Raiding Question. Hello all, bare with me as I give a little background. I'm still pretty n00bish when it comes to parts and what not. I know some but would like some help. For the past year I've been playing and raiding with my guild on a crappy 2011 MacBook Pro on lowest settings for everything. It was just bad. Hated it. I was planning on building my own finally when I was surprised with a gift one. It's a pre-made (I know I know) but as I said it was a gift. I plan on making upgrades later on. That's not what this is about. Im more interested in what it would be able to handle, setting wise and more specific, in raiding environments. I'd like to be able to run on high settings 1080p but seeing as I've been low everything for over a year. I'd be happy with whatever at this point. This is what is under the hood. Intel i5 - 7400 3.0ghz, 8 GB ddr4-2400 ram (2x4gb), MSI B250 Motherboard, RX 480 4GB, 1 TB 7200 rpm hard drive, 600 watt power supply Edit - I forgot to ask what fps should I expect also? In heavy raids that is. Thank you.Åhazu9 Apr 17
