I find it easier to be a little more casual about my play time this expansion, but that works out great for me as RL got super busy toward the end of Legion and I was starting to burn out. The game is still fun. I still love it. It's less intuitive about where you should be going or focusing after a certain point, but that's not horrible. Not the best, but not horrible. My guild has a Prot Paladin and Guardian Druid tank pair, and this happens to us in some small way every week (we've learned to mostly work around it by the 2nd tank doing absolutely nothing until he needs to tank adds). It's caused several wipes because either Mother or the slimes will drop aggro and run through the barrier right at the other tank, or Mother will spin and smush the melee dps. Tank threat on this fight is really weird. Please fix; our druid tank is going insane over this.

Go with your guild, first, to build up confidence. I was tanking heroic Antorus bosses on my DK before I ever had the courage to step into a random heroic 5-man with PuGs. I heal all the time for randoms with no problem, but tanking stresses me out. I have to really overgear the content before I'll trust myself to go into a 5-man with people I don't know.

Questing. I don't heal for pugs until after I hit level cap and finish my story questing. Heck, I'll barely even heal for my guild while I'm leveling and I love those people.

Yes it's canon. But you were not the "leader" of it; more like a figurehead. The canon leader of your order hall is usually the person who was dishing out the orders. So for me, Alonsus Faol was the actual leader. For paladins it's Liadrin. Warlocks have an orc guy. DK's are led by Mograine, etc. It's whoever was standing on the airship with you when you used your artifact to absorb the power from Sargeras' sword in Silithus. That is the actual leader. Each order hall had a small part to play in the defeat of the Legion.
