Remember 90% of the questions posed to GM's are resolved much like "Did you try restarting it?"
Most of the tickets are probably nonsense, and are a result of a players inability to read or look something up on wowhead.

If i was a GM with the way your question was asked, i can see why he answered it in the way he did, since it does sound like you were expecting a quest reward item of some kind and not just "instant green fire spells" which i do know is what you meant.

Give the GM some slack, your ticket was probably 1 of 300+ he had to answer for the day and is trying to do his best to satisfy everyone.

It's an appropriate handle. I'd cuddle just about anyone just for the sake of cuddles. : D
OP, did you get a survey afterwards? This sounds like a time when it's quite necessary to fill it out.

It makes you wonder why they hire GMs who's first language isn't English.


They hire GMs whose first language isn't English because there is more than one player whose first language isn't English. Moreover, there are plenty of people whose first language isn't English, who have a greater mastery of the language than an embarrassing portion of native English-speakers.

Well, the fight bugged out after I beat him and the adds wouldn't despawn. So, they advised me that I could go back to the Alter of the Damned and the guy would be there to drain the essence from him that I needed to do after turning in the quest.

Also, never forget!

He may have taken this to mean you thought there'd be an item to use, but no such item came. It's not that strange a reading of that phrasing.

Many GMs automatically assume the game works and players are idiots, rather than consider that the player might understand and ask for clarification like: "Do you mean you cast spells and they weren't green or were you expecting an item?". I've never had a GM ask a question for clarification. They just make an assumption and go with it and end up sounding arrogant and ignorant.
The problem was resolved even before a GM answered my ticket thanks to some forum people, but I couldn't figure out how to close out the ticket after messing with it for a few moments and then I forgot to try to figure out how to close it out later. Anyway, I get a response almost 2 days later and the response from the GM isn't even a logical one for the problem I had sent to them. This isn't the first response I have received that has been like this either over the years. I will post what I said in my ticket below and their response:

"I just defeated the final boss for the Warlock's Green Fire quest. I turned the quest into the Undead Warlock that was standing there at the end after their roleplaying stuff. Now, there is no other quest and I did not receive any green fire. I refuse to have to have beat that guy again. It was unreal the first kill."

"Hello,

This is Game Master *****. Thank you for contacting the Blizzard Entertainment Support Department.

I received your ticket about not recieving any green fire after completing the quest line for the warlock. So there isn't an item that you get from completing the quest, but instead all of your spells turn green. So instead of looking like fire, they are green flames. :)

We all understood the response, but it was not the correct answer for the problem.

Also, you can't define "fire" as a color, because it is not. Fire can be many different colors. It depends on what is burning.

Because you phrased your original ticket as a question concerning a second objective/item.

Just bad communication on both sides.

There is no question in that, it is a statement. Also, there was no mention of not receiving an "item" from the quest. There was mentioning of not receiving "green fire" from the quest, which the quest line was for.
At any rate, I'd open another ticket and make sure they understand the last GM misread it.

O.o To what end? If the issue is resolved there would be no reason to contact a different Game Master to inform them that the first one may have misunderstood. Please do not submit a new ticket unless you still require assistance. :)

Misunderstandings happen from time to time. Misreading or interpreting a sentence a specific way can alter the entire response you may receive. While obviously we would like nothing more than to give responses that are 100% accurate and not subject to interpretation after the fact, that simply isn't always possible.

Still, we try to learn from our mistakes and that is why we have the survey system in.

Victimize, if you wish to provide feedback regarding the response you received please fill out the survey that should be available once you have marked your ticket has resolved.

That would be the most appropriate and productive means available.
