Seriously?
Because the goalposts need to keep moving!

Fire will always shine in the next raid to be released. Except when that comes, it's the next one instead.

Fire only truly shone for 4 days in the last 2 or so years,on the drop of 6.0.2. And Blizzard couldn't possibly take fire being top dps, so they nerfed us across the boards.

It's funny how it takes MONTHS to get proper buffs when we're doing badly, but only 4 days to get nerfed if we're doing too well.
Fire Mages aren't even closing the gap, it's getting larger with higher ilevel.

Arcane at 630: 22,700
Fire at 630: 19,829

A difference of 2,871 DPS.

Arcane at 695: 46,410
Fire at 695: 42,246

A difference of 4,164 DPS.
All of the specs are overtuned in the long run. arcane is just the most overtuned.
A difference of 14% vs 9%. It improves slightly.

Fire has it's role. There are far fewer single target fights anymore.

I don't expect anything to change until 6.1. Blizzard seems happy with where things are for now.

The gap IS closing, you just don't understand how math works.
630: 87%
695: 91%
you can't really compare the two until the next raid comes out with a more balance of gear. right now there is mostly mastery and MS gear so obviously frost and arcane are going to be the ones that a pulling ahead.
Fire will shine once BrF comes out.

Look at the gear drops.

Look at the set bonuses.

This should be common sense.

The point OP is trying to make is that we shouldn't always have to be looking one raid tier forward, when some few changes could make Fire actually playable in all tiers. There's people who like to play fire and dislike the other playstiles, why make them wait for months for them to compete?
Because you're looking at simulationcraft numbers, which as stated above are entirely made up and not correct.

There are no fights EVER in World Of Warcraft where you get to stand still and wail on the boss while he also stands still and does not attack back. Fights involve movement. Fire mages deal with movement fights MUCH better than the other 2 classes. Yes your individual spells might be hitting for a little bit less, but you're able to cast much more because of the mobility of the spec.

Don't read simcraft #'s they aren't realistc.
It's true.

SimC numbers are totally made up. We just plug in random nonsense and let it run!

...?

What tools do you think allow Fire Mages to do better on movement than Frost Mages?

Except Frost does significantly better mobile damage.

Fire is strong on Cleave and AoE and weak on everything else.

Nothing is stopping people from playing fire. As long as you're not in a HC raiding guild, it doesn't matter what spec you roll with. People don't seem to understand this...

And as long as you never try to join a pug.

Which other 2 classes are you referring to, Hunters and Warlocks?

Fire will do what fire does, honestly spec doesn't matter much to me. I never liked Arcane, but I've played it when it has been on top. I do remember the days of Fire in Sunwell, Late Cataclysm and Ice Crown Citadel though.

Though I have to agree with the poster who said that as soon as fire is on top, expect some nerfs to be incoming. They still after 10 years have no solution to the rolling additive damage on multiple strikes (ignite or warrior bleeds) and when those things get out of control it is over.
