Is anyone going to use the twitter feature?

I equate the pointless tweets about epics you just looted or x achievement you earned to that guy who likes to get drunk and post a Facebook status every time his sports team scored a point or he didn't agree with a penalty call. Your friends will probably start to get annoyed with you.

With all the issues in game ...like mouseover issues....can't put in work order when you click on npc's.....wintersgrasp problems and bugs....you would think they spend time fixing that then putting in a 3rd party social media play that more then likely is being backed by Twitter paying Blizzard for it to be put in the game.

I'd rather they fix the dang game then this mess coming.

Yeah. Sometimes in the garrison I'll try to talk to an npc whether it's a work order person or the one who sells patterns and the window won't even pop up. I have to walk far enough away that the interaction with that npc is broken, then walk back and click them again.

But Twitter tho...

That's the problem. Resources had to be allocated to the twitter implementation. While those people aren't the ones who fix issues... they could be. Because Lord knows we need more people on that team.
I don't even understand the purpose of Twitter integration other than Blizzard trying to spam free advertising through our social media feeds.
No.

Dwarves don't twitter, tweet, or chirp for that matter.
one line sentences here we go

I dont think you guys understand how Blizzard works

DIfferent teams different jobs. I dont think people who create toys or ui/battlenet features are going to be assigned to bug fixing unless they really wanted to.
And like with many players I seen post here we are quite tired of having to search a 3rd party software site for information about problems or issues...first most any issues with the game and problems should be posted here on their web site first not second ...not posted and talked about on twitter...it should be here this is main web site not twitter. As of lately when in game issues come up it posted and talked about first on Twitter rather then here where it should be.
I can honestly say I don't twit. Ever.

And trying to use an app while playing has got to be among one of the more absurd ideas I've ever seen come out of Blizz. They've said it before that trying to run anything while playing could affect the gaming. But since they now download hotfixes while live gaming because it's easier for them they no longer will say that...but to hell to those customers it does affect.

I agree. They won't be pandering to the older crowd., since, lets be honest, we won't even be paying any attention. (and if we can delete it without affecting the game, we will! But we're likely the same demographic that has trade chat turned off too)
Since my only access to Twitter is through my phone app, I don't remember the password or which e-mail account I put it on, probably won't be able to set it up if I wanted to. And most likely don't ever see myself tweeting out "Just got 'Staying Regular' Achievement...#poopingawards"
I will not, i think it's an unnecessary feature to the game and one more thing that will have to be constantly fixed, buffed , nerfed , removed, brought back rinse and repeat.

Yeah...and we'll all be paying for it.

Hopefully it will be optional to even have it. If it becomes necessary in order to run the game then this will be the nail in the coffin for me. My Stockholm Syndrome for WoW will finally be cured.
Sure, if my guild mates use it, it could be a decent way to keep in touch when we aren't in game.

I use twitter now for Secret World, and I rather enjoy it. Lot's of RP, event, and Funcom news to be found. Maybe this will work the same way.
The @Warcraft account has around 660,000 followers, so there's at least a good chunk of people that are interested in using Twitter to talk about WoW, games, and see updates from us--usually on a mobile device.

I don't know if it's particularly constructive to dissect resource allocation. Everyone playing would like for us to focus on the exact things that they would like to see us focus on, and generally believe everyone else playing is like them and wants the same things. Not because of anything malicious or ill informed, but because we (humans) like surrounding ourselves with people like us, and also because of cognitive influences like false consensus and superiority biases. It takes a lot of effort to recognize that other humans are as valid as we are ourselves, and understand those differences have merit, because our brain is wired for self preservation. It's far easier to see someone or something they do, not like it for whatever reason, and label them as inferior in our minds, which in-turn makes us feel better about ourselves and our own choices and beliefs. Yay! Tolerance (or even crazier: understanding and acceptance) takes a lot of effort, and it calls a lot of our own thoughts and beliefs into question. Couple that with the previous superiority bias and that's unlikely to happen anytime soon. Brains are weird.

Anyway, back to WoW, there's a lot of content in the game--enough that people can focus in on one or a few activities and get a lot of gameplay out of them. People that only collect mounts might very well be unhappy that we're spending art resources on anything but making more mounts. Or people that progression raid might very well be unhappy that we spend any time on creating leveling content and quests (we hear this quite a bit). It's a big game, there's a lot to it, and ultimately we decide where to put resources to develop features and content we believe people will enjoy. Everyone is free to dislike and disagree with what we're doing, but I think it's always helpful to remember that it's a big game, there are lots of other people playing, and sometimes features or content won't be something you enjoy.

But who knows, maybe the Twitter integration will be a huge failure, no one will use it, and we'll move on with our lives and not support it any further. We think it'll be pretty cool though for those that do like using Twitter. But if that's not you then that's okay.
twitter integration will be the new in-game voice chat
