Character Screenshots in WoD

UI and Macro
Hello!

My name is Honeypants, I am a transmog aficionado/mogoholic with a website dedicated to a lot of the mogs that I've done for about 3 years now, along with screenshots of local moggers. I used to post a lot of screenshots of my transmogs in various locations. Most of the locations for my screenshots had a lot of thought put into them, as I would try to think back in my travels in Azeroth to find a locale that might accentuate my characters transmog.

Pre-Warlords I was able to Alt + Z and hover over my character (or target another player) to "illuminate" them while taking a screenshot. This made for brighter character pictures in screenshots, and meant I could take screenshots virtually anywhere. Post Warlords however that changed. I can't have myself or anyone else targeted and hit Alt + Z, as we all go "darker". This means our characters are less illustrious and kind of wash away in the background, especially if the location is in a darker area with no direct sunlight. The only way to remotely take a better picture is to use the S.E.L.F.I.E. camera, which alas does not show my entire mog.

I'm sure this has something to do with the way players/mobs are illuminated now when you target them. To be fair I have gravitated towards the S.E.L.F.I.E. camera and starting posting more in the Twitter-verse than on my website, but I miss the old screenshots. Sometimes I work pretty hard on my transmogs, and I like sharing :)

QUESTION(s):
-Is there a workaround to this or some sort of command I can type to have a character be more illuminated?
-Is this something that can be fixed in the future?
-If there is no workaround or a fix, can I suggest making a S.E.L.F.I.E. stick to fit more of my glorious transmogs in the picture?

Thank you so much for any help or input!

To my knowledge, there is no workaround or command that can make this change revert back to how it was. As a fellow mogger myself, I know exactly what you mean though.

I believe this was an intended change, however I do not speak for the Developers so I can't be certain of this. I would comment in the General Discussion forums for more info as to if it is intended or not and if a fix is in the works!

This actually sounds like a fun and interesting idea! I would definitely post this idea via our General Discussion Forums so that our Developers can see and consider it! They do not come to the Customer Support Forums for such things and Support Forum Agents do not act as liaisons to them.

I hope it gets some sight and maybe one day we see this as a lovely feature like the different lenses!

Awesome, thank you so much!
thnx Honey for making this post and thanks to Sylnaxas for the blue response.
I am also a mogoholic and I love taking screenshots of my xmogs. I was also wondering about this issue.

p.s I really love the "S.E.L.F.I.E. stick" idea!
You can try disabling the outline features in Interface Options, this should revert to the previous highlight for target, and sparkle for resources.
The change happened with 6.1. I reported it in the PTR Bug Report forum for that patch, though unfortunately I can't directly link to the thread since it doesn't exist anymore. (If you go through my post history, though, you'll find the remnant. It was titled "[Bug] Hightlighted and non-highlighted models" and has "Possibly related to http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/15700618179. When I have a character or NPC moused over or directly targeted on live, they appear brighter than they normally do. On PTR, th…" as the content preview.)

I tweeted @krolco about it and he said that he'd forward it to the right folks. https://twitter.com/krolco/status/568872727743844352

So far, the problem still exists in the 6.2 PTR. :\

It won't work. I always play with outlines disabled and the issue is still present.
